    The Elms at Newport Rhode Island is one of the so-called Gilded Age Mansions, lavish summer residences built from the late 19th Century by New York's elite. Unique among the mansion tours is The Elms' Servant Life Tour, a small group tour of the areas of the mansion inhabited by servants and staff.

    It was the smallest of the three mansions but it had so much more character. The Servant Life Tour there at the Elms was fantastic!!!! Learning where the servants lived and did was very interesting. We had lunch at the Carriage House at the Elms. Prepackaged sandwiches and Cape Cod chips, cookie and a drink. The last audio tour was at Marble House.

Green Animals Topiary Garden, Isaac Bell House and Kingscote are self-guided, non-audio tours. The Hunter House, Chepstow, Beneath The Breakers and The Elms Servant Life tours are guide-led at certain times throughout the day.

    Members $20 / Adult $25 / Youth (Ages 6-12) $10. Take a guide-led tour through the basement, boiler room and tunnel to learn how daily life in the Gilded Age was transformed by new wonders.
