Visit the famous and long demanded Alpine Route in Japanese Alps. Requiring varying modes of transportation, this route takes you through mountains and valleys for some of the most scenic views in all of Japan. From high mountain peaks reflected in the surface of calm, crystal lakes to the lower elevations at the Kurobe Dam and the famous site of the snow corridor, this route is sure to be unforgettably beautiful. The star of this route is the Snow Corridor with walls of snow that can reach 20 meters in height. This route allows for bus and pedestrian travel allowing for a great walking experience and a great size comparison to the nearby busses. The walls of snow are at their peak in May but remain even in August. Our busses will provide transportation where possible but there are many other systems that will be required for you to complete the whole route. You can also experience the Tateyama ropeway or Tateyama cable car which can provide a lift higher up into the mountains. While on these cars, you are sure you have a great view of the scenery below and around you. There is also a tunnel trolley bus which takes you through the inside of Mt. Tateyama and Mt. Akasawadake. The wide variety of scenery featured on this tour is sure to keep your camera and your memory busy! Even in this remote area of Japan, there are onsen hot springs to warm up at and delicious food to be eaten. From traditional Udon to "Alpine Curry", you're sure to find delicious options along the way. There are also many spiritual opportunities along the way as many Buddhist relics have been left behind by the many that have come before. What our customers say
4.9 stars based on 563 REVIEWS
Amazing experience. Will recommend this tour every time. Our guide Kenta and driver Hisa both delivered excellent service. So glad I chose this tour.
I had a wonderful time! I was very impressed by how many things were included in such a short time, and how on- time all of the activities were. The staff were always kind and professional, and I always felt well-cared for.
Kyushu has some of the most beautiful places we have seen in Kyushu. The walking on this tour is reasonable with only one or two days being rigorous and leaving us pretty exhausted (my wife and I are in our 30s and 40s and are not that active). Our guide Hana was amazing and took great care of us and ensured our entire group had an amazing time. If you go in September, be aware that it is still quite hot with high humidity. You should bring very lightweight clothes. Expect to prepare a separate smaller luggage/duffel bag as your main luggage will be shipped multiple times due to traveling. The overnight ferry and jet coil to Yakushima were very fun! We loved this trip as much as the Samurai, Garden, and Arts tour!
We loved trying the variety of foods, and we liked most of the tour experiences. It was a good mix of well-planned experiences, including foods and tea and markets and knives and cooking class. Emi, our guide, was excellent - knowledgeable about foods, sense of humor, good rapport with the local partners, good at keeping track of the group. Some highlights were the cooking class in Kanazawa, the Gokayama village, our time in Takayama. We learned a lot from all of the food experiences and different perspectives, and we enjoyed all of the locations and accommodations.
Excellent tour.
