Kuoni launches Covid Travel Advice Hub

Kuoni has launched a ‘one-stop advice hub’ detailing requirements and restrictions that are in place for travel.
The company’s Covid Travel Advice Hub is available online for anyone to use, designed with the view of making it easier for viewers to plan holidays for the year ahead.
Kuoni calls the hub “the definitive guide to travel corridors, quarantine and testing”.
It shows which destinations are welcoming visitors, travel corridor information, current Foreign Office (FCDO) advice, Covid testing requirements and quarantine rules on entering a country or returning to the UK.
More : Comment: The industry has suffered together; it should also recover together
Kuoni said it will continually update the advice as restrictions are eased and holidays become possible again after the current travel ban.
The firm reported “plenty of people desperate to plan a holiday” from its early January indications.
Chief executive Derek Jones said: “This is about making an increasingly complex situation simple to understand, providing answers to questions we know people are asking in a clear, searchable online format that anyone can access.
“The hub is available to everyone, free of charge – we’re providing this service because we want to play our part in opening up the world again. Travel agents are welcome to use the resource to help them to provide the most up to date advice and guidance for their customers.”
Jones added: “During the pandemic we’ve seen two types of travellers emerge. There are those who want to get away quickly, who will go at short notice as soon as borders are open and the necessary Covid tests are in place. These customers want to know what’s possible now and the travel advice hub will be a valuable tool for these last minute bookers.
“Alongside that we have customers planning holidays a long way in advance so again this is a really useful way to simply search for what’s bookable now for travel later.
“We’ve spent the last few months designing this one stop shop for all Covid related travel advice. The information within the Travel Advice Hub will be updated daily. Customers and agents will no longer need to go off to different websites to try and make sense of it all.
“We want to encourage people to travel again but complexity around travel will continue for some time, so it’s essential that we give people the information they need and the confidence to travel safely and smoothly. That way we can get travel up and running again this year and help people have a much-needed break and give everyone something to look forward to.”

Kuoni debuts 'one-stop' covid travel advice hub.
Kuoni has designed a "one-stop" Covid travel advice hub, which it hopes will help agents and other travel professionals navigate the increasingly complex Covid travel landscape.
The hub is open for all to use, and claims to be "the definitive guide to travel corridors, quarantine and testing", bringing together the myriad Covid travel requirements and restrictions in place around the world in one place.
It highlights which countries are open to tourists, their travel corridor status, testing requirements and quarantine rules, and the latest Foreign Office advice.
Kuoni has pledged to "continually update" the hub as legal restrictions on UK travel are eased and holidaying becomes possible again.
"Early signs in January indicate there are plenty of people desperate to plan a holiday overseas this year and are prepared to book now," said the operator. "The advice hub will help travellers to see which places are open to book now for travel at a later date.
Derek Jones, Kuoni chief executive, said “This is about making an increasingly complex situation simple to understand, [and] providing answers to questions we know people are asking in a clear, searchable online format that anyone can access.
"The hub is available to everyone, free of charge – we’re providing this service because we want to play our part in opening up the world again. Travel agents are welcome to use the resource to help them to provide the most up to date advice and guidance for their customers."
Jones said two types of traveller had emerged from the Covid crisis, those keen to get away at the drop of a hat as soon as borders open. "These customers want to know what’s possible now and the travel advice hub will be a valuable tool for these last-minute bookers," said Jones.
"Alongside that, we have customers planning holidays a long way in advance so again this is a really useful way to simply search for what’s bookable now for travel later."
Jones added it was important to empower people to feel confident to travel again, and in turn, help the sector rebuild.
"We want to encourage people to travel again but complexity around travel will continue for some time, so it’s essential that we give people the information they need and the confidence to travel safely and smoothly," said Jones.
"That way we can get travel up and running again this year and help people have a much-needed break and give everyone something to look forward to.”

48 hours in . . . Moscow, an insider guide to Russia's mighty metropolis
Luxury Living
As the first international five-star hotel in post-Soviet Russia, the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow has kept up with the competition via constantly renovated luxurious interiors, top-notch amenities and pristine service. The prime location across the river from Red Square and the Kremlin doesn’t hurt either. Breakfast includes traditional Russian pancakes with red caviar and sour cream.
Double rooms from RUB 15,000 (£175). Ulitsa Baltschug 1; 00 7 495 287 2000.
Designer Digs
The retro-futuristic StandArt – the first Russian Design Hotels member– is unarguably the chicest hotel in the city. As well as offering the most stylish rooms in town, it has a restaurant helmed by a double Michelin-starred chef, an attractive spa and gym, and a conveniently central location.
Double rooms from RUB 12,000 (£282). Strastnoy boulevard, 2; 00 7 4 95 587 7730
Budget Bolthole
The Boutique Hotel Chenonceau has a castle-like construction with elements of modern Russian architecture in the exterior and an interior designed in classic 18th century English style, complete with stone lions in the garden and crystal chandeliers and salon paintings in the public areas. It might be slightly too much for some, but for others it will feel like the epitome of Russian-style romance.
Double rooms from 3600 Russian Rubles (£45). Trekhprudny Per. 15; 00 7 495 699 214.
• A complete guide to the best hotels in Moscow
For Fedoskino lacquer boxes, head 20 miles outside of Moscow where you can visit the Fedoskino factory , which employs nearly 300 artists and scores of highly skilled craftsmen who produce lacquer miniatures. If you don’t want to visit the factory, find them at the Izmailovsky Market (Alleya Bol'shogo Kruga, 7; 00 7 499 166 6119; daily 9am-6pm).
Traditional Orenburg shawls are hand-knitted and known for being warm depsite being elegantly thin. You can find them at Indefxflat (41 Starokonyushenny Pereulok) or Tagansky Passage (Taganskaya Ulitsa, 3; 00 7 916 836 7110). Elsewhere, be wary of fakes.
Winter is a mixed blessing, with snow often falling right through to March, covering its distinctive Soviet towers, sprawling parks and onion-domed churches with romantic layers. The bitterly cold temperatures won’t be for everyone, but the hotel rates are cheap—excluding New Year—and the city’s cafés, restaurants and bars are even more welcoming than usual.
Spring and summer are inevitably more popular—and expensive; the former is a particularly good time to visit for fewer tourists, reasonable temperatures and events like Russian Fashion Week (April) and the Spring Festival (May 1-2), while in summer the temperatures, prices and number of outdoor events all soar in tandem. Autumn can be pleasant, with some good deals and favourable weather, but it’s audaciously short so you’ll need to time it well.

Local laws and etiquette
St Petersburg is a very laid back and generally safe city, but the usual precautions should be taken against pickpocketing and phone/bag snatching, especially in busy tourist areas such as the underground and Nevsky Prospect.
It’s worth carrying your passport or ID around as police checks do take place, though they’re usually not the corrupt shakedowns of yesteryear.
There are a few general rules of etiquette, mostly general Russian superstitions rather than distinct to St Petersburg: don’t shake hands across a doorway; always bring a gift if visiting someone’s home; don’t place your elbows on a table when eating; don’t place finished bottles on the table – the floor is the preferred place for them.
Attitudes around LGBT+ culture in Moscow and St Petersburg are changing, if slowly. There are communities and clubs in both cities, but they tend to remain mostly hidden from public view. Exercise caution in public. For more information, read the FCO advice .
Paul Sullivan is a regular visitor to the Russian capital. He enjoys visiting the city’s fantastic galleries and the challenge of keeping up with its fast-changing culinary scene.

Why travel to Moscow
Contrasts: 12th century monasteries and some of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe can be found side-by-side in this complex and captivating city. The diversity of this mega-city is astounding. Only a few steps away from the solemn red facade of the Kremlin and the sounds of righteous church bells, a buzzing night scene and alternative-fashion boutiques can be found.
Culture: In Moscow only the best goes. Be it a theatre, restaurant or gallery, the standards are certain to be world-class. The Bolshoi ballet company is reputed to be even better than the Mariinsky’s and “MMOMA” (Moscow’s museum of modern art) exhibits works of art as profound as any that could be found in the famed MOMA.
Convenience: Unlike the rest of Russia, it’s easy enough to get by with just English in Moscow and, driving excepted, it is surprisingly safe: the murder rate is lower than in some of America’s major cities.

Why visit Moscow
It would take more than two days to walk around the perimeter of the biggest city in Europe, Moscow. Many of its inhabitants barely know what’s beyond the few blocks around their flat and there are so many attractions that it’s almost impossible to know where to start. If there is such a thing as an antidote to boredom, Moscow City is it. The mind-boggling range and diversity of things to do, places to eat, parks, historical monuments and more means that a vacation in Moscow has a wealth of activities to offer for every type of traveler, from young families to retirees.
Reasons to Vacation in Moscow in 2022
The Bolshoi theatre is familiar to almost everyone as Russia’s grandest theatre, but what people don’t know is that there are many more bolshoi (big) sites in Moscow that are worth travelling all the way to Moscow to see. For more than 100 years, the world’s biggest bell has been hidden behind the Kremlin’s walls and inside Moscow’s main park (which is bigger than some countries!) there is the world’s largest outdoor ice-rink. Travelers that visit Moscow can stay at the Izmailovo, Europe’s biggest hotel, then eat at the largest and most historic McDonald’s in Europe and after that have fun at the largest European indoor theme park!
Ancient Past & Stunning Architecture:
As those who travel to Moscow will see, just because Moscow is a city of record-breaking, glitzy high-rises doesn’t mean that there is no history. On the famous Arbat street, time-worn, wooden storehouses and century-old churches are squashed up against grey, soviet blocks which are then towered over by 21st century office-blocks. Unlike its much younger sibling, St Petersburg, Moscow’s roots stretch way back to the 12th century. Within the walls of the Kremlin, the city’s oldest building the Cathedral of Assumption can be admired in all its 500+ years of age.
Culture & Convenience
For a foreigner who has never visited Russia, Moscow is the perfect stepping stone into this great land of mystery. From the country’s best classical ballet troupes to snow-white troikas trotting through the parks, all the highlights of Russian culture can be had in Moscow without any of the complications that would be expected in other, less developed regions of Russia.
Cheap as Caviar
In Moscow, everything is bargain when with the current foreign exchange rates being what they are. Even caviar doesn’t seem so dear when the exchange rate is at 60rub to the dollar, so go on indulge yourself! Take your 2022 vacation in Moscow and have the best of both worlds, with European luxury at very affordable prices.
Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.
Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.
We had a great time both in Moscow and St Petersburg. Your travel agency was excellent in coordinating the whole trip. Everything worked like clockwork. The guides assigned to us were very nice and friendly. They had a great knowledge of their subjects. The cars and the drivers were great. The hotels were good and the itinerary was good. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. It was nice dealing with you and your company. Thank you very much for a great Russian experience. Have a great future ahead
