Apgar Lookout: Early season jaunt a great way to get in hiking shape
Kari G. of Kalispell enjoys the expansive views offered at Apgar Lookout in Glacier National Park. (Chris Peterson photo)
A chipmunk surveys the trail.
Trillium blooms along the route.
The Apgar Mountain Lookout Trail in Glacier National Park is one of those trails to hike first thing in the season. It’s easy to get to, and it’s a good conditioning trail, which is to say it exposes you to elevation gain in a hurry over its 3.5 miles.
It’s been years since I hiked it, but since I’m recuperating from heart surgery, the boy and I gave it a go on a bright sunny Saturday recently.
The trail starts out at the foot of Apgar Mountain at the end of the dirt Quarter Circle Bridge Road.
Except for the spring creeks that cross the trail at the base, there is no running water on the way up, which is another reason to do it early in the season — it’s a hot and dry bugger in the summer and you better have at least two liters of water with you, because it’s an open-south facing route with virtually no shade.
In the “old” days 20-plus years ago, the route was almost entirely in a lodgepole forest, but the Robert Fire of 2003 changed all that. The route used to be shorter and steeper, but the trail was modified shortly after the Robert Fire as well, if memory serves me right.
Today the lodgepole are certainly on the return, but not tall enough for any appreciable shade. All told, the route is 3.5 miles to the lookout and about 1,800 feet of elevation gain.
We weren’t the only ones getting in shape, we actually did the hike twice and on both occasions ran into guys running up the trail.
The one I talked to said he did it in just under 45 minutes. They don’t recommend running on trails in Glacier because of bear danger, but to each his own, I suppose. It took us just under two hours, not bad for my repaired heart. We also saw plenty of other folks just out for a stroll.
One guy we ran into had on a shirt that said “Macho Man.”
I couldn’t help but singing that song for awhile, as much I disliked it when it came out in 1979.
Such are the “trail hazards” in Glacier National Park.

Shonda Rhimes Praises Debbie Allen and Her Dance Academy at Power of Women: ‘If You Are Feeling Broken, Debbie Will Help You Repair’

Shonda Rhimes was honored at Variety’s Power of Women , presented by Lifetime, in New York on Thursday for her work with the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, a non-profit dance school that offers classes to disenfranchised communities.
Rhimes was aware of Debbie Allen’s work from a young age, having been a fan of her 1980s TV show “Fame.” Years later, Rhimes’ eldest daughter took classes at the academy, and Rhimes and Allen became fast friends. Allen eventually became an executive producer, director and actor on “Grey’s Anatomy,” and in 2022, Rhimes opened a permanent location for DADA in Mid-City.
Rhimes also praised DADA for feeding children “a culture of excellence and expectation in themselves.”
“If you feel unseen, Debbie sees you,” Rhimes added. “If you are feeling broken, Debbie will help you repair. If you need a safe place to sleep or to rage or to heal, Debbie provides one. If you are hungry, Debbie feeds you. And then she puts you back in ballet class.”
Her award was presented by Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajara, who has been a close collaborator of her’s since the streamer entered an overall deal with Rhimes’ production company Shondaland in 2017. That deal led to the release of the hit drama series “Brigderton,” which will premiere its third season with Netflix on May 16 and June 13.
Rhimes has fundamentally changed the landscape of television with shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and the Kerry Washington led “Scandal.” In the mid-2010s, Shondaland had three shows airing on ABC on Thursdays.
“[It’s a] completely different landscape. And I feel like when I look forward, I have no idea,” Rhimes said. “It’s very clear to me that my children only want to watch things that are this long because of YouTube or whatever. [She measures an inch with her fingers.] Sitting down and watching a movie is very rare for them. It’s not the same as it was for us. Everything’s changing. I think there will always be storytelling; I just don’t know what form it’s going to take.”

It's equally suited for fishing expeditions, boating trips, and backyard BBQs. Wherever your passion takes you, ICEMULE ensures your refreshments come along, perfectly chilled. With ICEMULE, every activity becomes a cool adventure.
Proper maintenance of your ICEMULE is key to ensuring optimal performance. If you've only stored ice inside (i.e. no food or spilled beer or soda), simply pour the ice out, wipe it down with a towel, and hang the ICEMULE upside down to dry.
Follow these steps on how to clean your ICEMULE:
*Please be sure to properly close your AirValve when cleaning. We do not recommend turning the cooler inside out for cleaning or any other reason.*
- Start by removing any debris by sprinkling a bit of baking soda onto a clean towel and rubbing that onto the surface of your ICEMULE.
- Next, mix one-part vinegar with two parts water and a couple of tablespoons of Murphy's Oil Soap, soak a clean towel in the solution, and wipe the mixture all over the surface before rinsing clean with a wet towel.
- If you have any spots to remove on your ICEMULE, you can make a paste with baking soda, which is known for brightening surfaces and lifting stains.
- To make a baking soda paste, simply mix three parts baking soda with one part water and add five to ten drops of dish soap to the paste mixture. Apply a bit of paste to the stain and use a clean cloth to scrub the area. After the stain has been lifted, wipe any remaining residue off of your ICEMULE with a towel andwarm water.

This is my 5th Ice Mule cooler but the first backpack. Looking for to loading it up and heading off to the beach or river.
I landed getting the Mango color which is amazing. Quality product and workmanship. Keeps things cold like advertised
Perfect compact cooler for any occasion! Easily fits in your luggage to travel with. Take it to the beach, travel with it, bring it to the pool or golf course. Kept my drinks cold all day and holds more than enough to get you through the day. Highly recommend!!
Awesome waterproof floating cooler backpack!
Keeps things cold for a couple of days. Backpack is handy. The ourside zipper pocket is so tight and slim as to be pretty useless. I also have a 15L jaunt. Word to the wise - rinse zipper well after use. The useless pocket's zipper corroded and now I can't even unzip it after relatively few uses

Grew up with a lot of those. Getting up early on Saturday mornings was a weekly thing. Better times.
I loved my Saturday mornings. It was the only day of the week that I wanted to get up early.
Exactly what Boomerang was 20 years ago. Every retro station (cable or OTA) eventually loses its way veering into the ’90s or newer & then staying there. To me, anything 1990 or newer isn’t true retro. I hope MeTV Toons doesn’t start adding wrong-sounding LT & Scooby-Doo. Canada had an awesome channnel called Teletoon Retro.
Yeah and now Teletoon is gone…..frankly I think Boomerang Canada can do a little better with their lineup (like air the pre global response team era of the Rescue Heroes)
The “problem” with this content is that folks will watch it a lot for the first 5ish years. Over that time, it will start out nice, and go up a little for the first 2-3 years. After those first 3ish year, it will start to decline, a little bit. By year 6+, ratings will fall off a cliff. Because we’ll have watched everything, several times. I love Friends. I work from home, so I could watch the TBS reruns constantly. For a while, I did. I haven’t watched a Friends rerun in years. . It’ll happen to this toon channel as well.
It’s all perspective. The 90s were 25-35 years ago. When WCBS-FM started its “oldies” format in 1972, they focused on songs from 1955-1964, less than 20 years in the past. (They play primarily 80s-90s music now.)
This. . It’s been in the past couple of years that Sirius has eliminated the channel “40s on 4” (music from the 1940s) A few people wondered why, and it just boils down to the fact that music is something you come of age to. . And a lot of the people that came of age to 1940s music are gone now. . As for 80s and 90s music? Your music is officially retro when it’s playing overhead in a Kroger. . TV is much the same.
SiriusXM’s 40’s channel was not eliminated, it was rebranded and moved to a different channel. 40’s Junction is on channel 71, I listen to it all the time.
I loved Teletoon Retro – I’d leave it on that channel all day as I worked from home – Alvin & the Chipmunks, Smurfs, Inspector Gadget and Beetlejuice. The Boomerang channel here is terrible….i want the classic Scooby Doo and Looney Tunes, not the latest iterations. Any word if this new channel will come to Canada? I highly doubt it.
Ever wonder what idiot would down vote an innocuous comment like this?
I just started watching old Rocky and Bullwinkle episodes on YouTube because episodes of the show are no longer available for streaming! As a huge animation fan, this is huge news, especially for people who long for the old Boomerang format!
There’s still space left for more broadcast channels? How many digital subdivisions can there be on any singe frequency? And there’s fewer of them after the repacking.
I love this! My DVR is going to be so full! But I also hope others follow suit…let’s get a Disney subchanmel! Maybe they can air shows like Aladdin and House of Mouse that have been too difficult to move to streaming. Plus shows like TailSpin, Rescue Rangers, Gargoyles and the FOX/Marvel tunes they have like original X-Men and Spider-Man.
The original Muppet Babies is another show I should have mentioned. There are a lot of copyright things with the content that have made it hard for them to put elsewhere, so a channel like this would be great for showing them!
Also please note I mean an additional channel – I’m also very excited for this one! Love a lot of the WB, Hanna-Barbera, and other classics they are advertising! There is a MeTV Toons page up on Facebook that has a promo and some images of what shows to expect at the start. There are a few like Freakazoid, 2 Stupid Dogs, Beetlejuice and the Mask cartoon that I wasn’t expecting to see in the mix. Top Cat, Smurfs, Underdog, Pink Panther, Inspector Gadget, Captain Planet, and Jonny Quest are also there.
I want to watch The Arabian Knights, Wacky Races, precious Pupp, Yacky Doodle, Mr Jinx and Pixie and Dixie and others not mentioned
Wacky Races is mentioned at the end of their promo video online! I’m not sure about the others, though Huckleberry Hound, Secret Squirrel, Touche Turtle and Magilla Gorilla get mentions, and it does end with “and many more classic cartoons!” So here’s hoping!
I wonder if you already get MeTV you’ll get this channel as well.
It will be a broadcast channel or subchannel. So it depends where you live if a local broadcast channel or subchannel decides to carry it.
Will this be a 3rd ME TV channel or will this be replacing ME TV+ ? Will the cartoons be removed from the original ME TV
I never knew METV+ existed until i just recently got the streaming Frndly app where I noticed METV+ for the first time. Hopefully, we’ll get METV Toons on the Frndly app as well.
According to the press release from MeTV parent company Weigel Broadcasting. ” The MeTV toons network joins MeTV, Heroes & Icons, Start TV, Catchy Comedy ( fka Decades), MOVIES!, Story Television, Dabl, and Me TV + in the Weigel family of national broadcast networks.”
Will verizon fios carry this channel Or will it be streaming channel on roku
Count me in :-)
That’s great any idea what areas states it will roll out to ?
Give me a two-hour block of Looney Tunes daily, and I’ll be happy.
YES I WILL TOON IN
Can’t wait!
I wonder if the Looney Toons will be edited or original?
Its about time. I grew up on those Cartoons. Along with Superfriends and others. I’d love to introduce my grandkids to my childhood and this should help.
Grew up with all those cartoons will definitely watch
Unnecessary – METV could, should, take their programs, that of Heroes and Icons, Catchy Comedy, Movies, plus this, and just create one great, diverse channel with rotating classics after they have played through.
Unfortunately, METV, and possibly the others (I do not watch them except Movies on occasion) edits their shows for time to promote the very shows they are editing.
We need a dedicated cartoon channel again. Hell, I miss Saturday Mornings. Now just make it available on a streaming service I’m already paying for.
@Patrick Then they’ll just have to cram a LOT of stuff in there. I’m sure there’s still plenty of cartoons out there we haven’t even SEEN. And besides, who’s ever gone throgh life watching a cartoon only ONCE?

I drove the Tesla Cybertruck. These 7 design flaws surprised me.
- I tested Tesla's brand new Cybertruck.
- The electric truck is fun to drive and turns heads everywhere it goes.
- But some small oversights made the expensive product feel rushed.
The Cybertruck is unlike anything I've ever driven.
Even before I got behind the wheel, its metallic angles screamed uniqueness from across a parking lot. On the road, it drew gaping looks from other drivers, while pedestrians chased it down for photos.
Inside the truck, things only got more quirky. It had all the standard Tesla features , like a massive screen for controlling almost everything, a card (or phone) that acts as the key, voice control, and a yoke-shaped steering wheel.
But a few features stuck out to me and felt surprisingly rushed — especially in the company's newest and most highly anticipated product yet.
Are they all dealbreakers? Probably not. But for a price tag of more than $100,000, potential customers are allowed to be a little discerning, even if the main draw here is aesthetics and completely over-the-top specs.
These seven features annoyed me in my three-day jaunt around central Texas:
The Cybertruck's massive windshield doesn't mesh well with the Texas sun.
The Cybertruck's windshield is massive and more horizontal than many other vehicles. In the Texas sun, this didn't mesh well with the truck's all-black interior.
Driving in direct sunlight, any part of my arm or leg that was exposed and not getting direct ventilation was uncomfortable, and I knew cranking the air conditioning would drain battery life.
Inconveniently, the controls for the AC vents are buried in a settings menu on the main screen. No simple, one-motion adjustment of an air vent here — this is the future!
Charging also got hot. It was barely spring when I tested out the Cybertruck, and within three hours of charging in the direct sunlight, temperatures inside had climbed to more than 130 degrees.
Luckily, Elon Musk has tried to counter this somewhat with remote AC and window controls, and " dog mode ."
I questioned whether anyone tested the sun visors.
Like most cars, the upper part of the Cybertruck's windshield has extra tint to help with glare. But unlike most cars, the Cybertruck's sun visor leaves some windshield exposed when unfolded for use — and plenty of sun can still wreak havoc.
Don't forget your sunglasses! They won't just be to look cool.
Want to fast charge on a non-Tesla plug? Good luck.
I learned the hard way that charging infrastructure in this country is still a long way from perfect. All Tesla cars come with an adapter for some slow charger plugs, as was the case in my Turo rental.
But newer fast chargers not run by Tesla usually feature a plug known as CCS, which was basically the industry standard before a big switch to Tesla's plugs last year by most automakers.
To charge at one of those, you'll need a different adapter that Tesla sells for $250. However, it specifically does not work with the Cybertruck because of its protruding plastic fenders . Some other Tesla models require a service appointment to make it work.
Of the more than 40,000 public fast-charging plugs in the US, more than 60% are Tesla, according to data from the Department of Energy. Tesla's plugs are the clear winner here, but not being able to use any others could certainly be a headache.
The truck lacks door handles in the ceiling.
What are nervous passengers supposed to grab while warning you of brake lights ahead?!
For a truck designed to excite, there's a surprising lack of " oh shit handles " for surprised passengers to grip during a terrified yelp while accelerating from 0 to 100-and-god-knows-what in a matter of seconds.
It's like a roller coaster, except there also isn't room to fully extend your hands in the air either.
To be fair, the backseat still has requisite hooks for hanging garments. No handle there, either.
You better hope the automatic suspension adjustment to "entry" height when parking is enough. These standard handles are about accessibility.
The wheel covers are easily damaged.
Wheel covers are a ubiquitous part of nearly every single electric vehicle. They improve aerodynamics by reducing drag, which helps range. In some cases, they look cool too.
But unlike in some other Tesla models, the Cybertruck's plastic wheel covers extend beyond the tire. Even the lightest scrape of a curb is noticeable.
Aesthetics aside, when you combine the truck's massive footprint and less-than-nimble maneuvering with tight spaces, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
Here's a close-up of the damage from the lightest of brushes with a curb.
Sure, the buyers of a $100,000 truck are probably going to have a garage. But what about the trendy restaurant downtown with only street parking? Are you going to trust the valet with this?
Traffic-aware cruise control was far from perfect.
This rental Cybertruck didn't have Autopilot or Full Self-Driving yet, despite having all the necessary hardware. Still, I'm not sure I would have trusted it based on one incident alone.
Let's set the scene:
I was cruising down a highway at more than 70 miles per hour when I approached a flashing yellow light that warned of an intersection ahead. The truck suddenly started beeping incessantly and braking, despite no actual change in the road ahead.
To be fair, Tesla does say in its manual that traffic-light and stop-sign control is a beta feature that "may also stop at green lights."
I appreciate the robo-concern, but the hiccup shows how many of these so-called edge cases will need to be conquered before true self-driving software can exist at any meaningful scale.
Beware, children, of the death frunk.
This frunk is not safe.
I placed a carrot on the open frunk's frame to test the sensitivity of the lid as it closed. The door sliced cleanly through the carrot.
I'm far from the first person to use a faux-finger carrot in the front-trunk's closing mechanism. It still was unsettling to see in person.
Most other cars have automatic sensors to detect a rogue body part in the way of a closing trunk or frunk, but apparently not the Cybertruck. Watch out for those fingers!
Hey, at least it has a button for opening from the inside in case you are stuck or kidnapped (as required by law).

Hours Calculator

Hours Between Two Dates
Related Time Card Calculator | Time Calculator
An hour is most commonly defined as a period of time equal to 60 minutes, where a minute is equal to 60 seconds, and a second has a rigorous scientific definition. There are also 24 hours in a day. Most people read time using either a 12-hour clock or a 24-hour clock.
12-hour clock:
A 12-hour clock uses the numbers 1-12. Depending on the clock being used, most analog clocks or watches may not include an indication of whether the time is in the morning or evening. On digital clocks and watches, "AM" stands for ante meridiem, meaning "before midday," while "PM" stands for post meridiem, or "after noon." By convention, 12 AM denotes midnight, while 12 PM denotes noon. Using the terms "12 midnight" and "12 noon" can remove ambiguity in cases where a person may not be accustomed to conventions.
24-hour clock:
A 24-hour clock typically uses the numbers 0-23, where 00:00 indicates midnight, and a day runs from midnight to midnight over the course of 24 hours. This time format is an international standard, and is often used to avoid the ambiguity resulting from the use of a 12-hour clock. The hours from 0-11 denote what would be the AM hours on a 12-hour clock, while hours 12-23 denote the PM hours of a 12-hour clock. In certain countries, 24-hour time is referred to as military time, since this is the time format used by militaries (and other entities) around the world, where unambiguous time measurement is particularly important.
