What do you think of when you think of sports championship parades in Boston , besides the teams themselves?

That's easy - duck boats.

Those are the cool looking boat-like vehicles that can travel on land and water, and have become a staple in transporting athletes during championship parades. The New England Patriots , Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins have all used the boats at such parades.

On Friday, they'll roll out for a nother parade celebrating the Celtic's newest championship.

But when the duck boats are not transporting championship teams through the streets, they can be seen traveling the streets and water of Boston showcasing the city to tourists and residents alike.

What are duck boats?

Duck boats are colorful, bulky, boat-like vehicles that travel throughout Boston on land and on water. Boston Duck Tours are 80-minutes in length - 60 minutes on land and 20 minutes on the Charles River. Boston Duck Tours began rolling through the streets of Boston in October 1994.

How many duck boats does Boston have?

There are 28 amphibious duck boats - called ducks - used by Boston Duck Tours. Each duck is colorfully painted and named after Boston landmarks such as "Fenway Fanny," "Kenmore Karla," "Charlie River," "Longfellow Bridget," "Miss Emma Science," "Beantown Betty," 'Beacon Hilda," and "Symphony Hal."

Do Boston duck tours go in the water?

Yes. Boston Duck Tours splash into the Charles River for approximately 20 minutes of each 80 minute city tour. According to the tour website, you will not get wet on the tour, but could get a light spray depending on the wind direction.

How many championship parades have used the duck boats?

The duck boats have been used for championship parades in Boston since 2002. The Boston Duck Boat website states, "Boston Duck Tours, over the years, has had the honor and pleasure of hosting four of Boston’s sports teams in Rolling Rally Championship parades 12 different times."

According to the website, with duck boats "players could stand on, and wave to the crowds below. It was close enough to get these players right up to their fans. But, also far enough to keep them from being mobbed by the crowds."

A brief history of duck boats

The History Channel explained that allied troops used duck boats to get artillery, supplies and soldiers ashore during  World War II .

" DUKW boats made their first appearance in combat during the 1943  invasion of Sicily  known as Operation Husky," History.com states. "The name 'DUKW' corresponded to General Motors’ manufacturing code (“D” is “1942 model,” “U” is “amphibious,” “K” is “all-wheel drive,” and “W” is “dual rear wheels”). Soldiers simplified this by calling them “ducks.”

"Like actual ducks, these boat-trucks with wheels looked a little awkward. But their weird design is what allowed troops to drive the vehicles from water onto land—a crucially important task."

• New England Aquarium, Central Wharf.

Kelce picked up Taylor Swift and carried her to the bright red lipstick couch before he, Ravnik and Saunders attempted to revive her so she could sing, "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."

The tight end attended all three nights in London sharing a VIP tent with a slew of stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Hugh Grant, Cate Blanchett, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. His brother Jason and sister-in-law Kylie also traded friendship bracelets and posed for pictures with Swifties.

Swift's boyfriend hinted toward the fire London shows in April while promoting his concert festival Kelce Jam.

When asked what show can't be missed in Europe he announced the British capital along with her first European stop where she unveiled the new "Tortured Poets" set.

"Man, I'll tell you what, I think the London shows," he said to Entertainment Tonight. "I think she's at Wembley eight times, which is mind-blowing that she can do that many shows in one stadium and fill that thing up. I played in Wembley once, and I don't even think we filled that thing all the way up. And London's always an amazing city. Paris is an amazing city."

Taylor Swift brings out Travis Kelce at London Eras Tour date

Taylor Swift had a surprise for fans attending her Eras Tour at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday: her boyfriend and tight end for the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce .

Dressed in a tuxedo with a tailcoat and top hat, Kelce joined Swift on stage for a transitional sketch that leads into the song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart." In fan videos, he's seen carrying Swift, urging her into a costume change. He fanned and powdered her face as part of the act.

Last month, in her first Eras Tour concert since the release of “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift shook up her setlist. At the La Défense Arena in Paris, fans were treated to the inclusion of new songs from the record-breaking album released in April.

The billion-dollar Eras Tour is meant to be a career retrospective, with Swift performing more than 40 tracks reflecting 17 years of recorded music. “The Tortured Poets Department” was her first brand-new release since the tour’s start.

The stars aligned for Taylor Swift’s third night at Wembley Stadium in London .

Concertgoers flocked to X on Sunday to point out all the celebrities who attended the latest stop on the Eras Tour, including Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, Sophie Turner, Paul McCartney and Gracie Abrams.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who went to all three of his girlfriend’s shows this weekend, was spotted in a VIP tent alongside the “Lover” singer’s parents, Scott and Andrea Swift.

Kelce, 34, appeared to be in a chipper mood as he made his way around the section while greeting fellow guests .

Also in the VIP tent were Turner, 28, and Abrams, 24, the latter of whom previously served as an opening act on the blockbuster tour.

The “Game of Thrones” alum — who famously stayed at Taylor’s $50 million New York City apartment at the beginning of her divorce from Joe Jonas last year — was seen with her arm around Abrams’ shoulder while holding a cold beer.

McCartney, 82, was also nearby as he made his way across the stadium ahead of the three-hour show.

According to a fan account , Jon Bon Jovi, Piers Morgan, Ellie Goulding, Cate Blanchett, Ruby Stokes and Zawe Ashton were in attendance Sunday, too.

This weekend’s Eras Tour shows have been star-studded, as Tom Cruise, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Hugh Grant, Liam Hemsworth and Greta Gerwig were among the attendees at Saturday’s concert .

The “Mission Possible” star — who skipped his estranged daughter Suri Cruise’s graduation from high school Friday — was seen exchanging friendship bracelets with fans and bonding with Kelce .

The NFL star, for his part, made his first appearance at Taylor’s show in over a month Friday as he attended with his brother, Jason Kelce , and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce.

Prince William and his children Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9, also checked out Friday’s show and even got to meet the performer backstage .
