The complex dress that Jolie wears in the Gala scene was a gown made of layers of black silk tulle, net, and satin with a pleated layered edge. Apart from the eye candy that is the sumptuous Johnny Depp , the beautiful Asprey jewels and clutches are a feast for the eyes. Here’s an exclusive look at the accessories that the magnificent Miss Jolie wears throughout the film.

Angelina Jolie Travels in the Espadrille Sandal Trend Taking Over Europe
Sneakers? Leggings? The star would never.
Some celebrities operate at such a high style level, they don't have to follow any pre-prescribed rules. Angelina Jolie , who runs errands in rich mom stilettos, wins awards in the most elevated mother-daughter outfits you've ever seen, and designs Oscars gowns , is one of them.
Sauntering off a flight on Monday, August 12, the actress-turned-philanthropist-slash-fashion-designer ignored all the conventional wisdom about summer airplane outfits . Namely, that one should wear comfortable sneakers to speed-walk through the airport, or stretchy leggings to stretch out in her seat. Instead, she hit the tarmac in a summer shoe trend I've noticed reporting from Copenhagen Fashion Week and the heart of London: the towering espadrille sandal.

Jolie chose what appeared to be a pair of Christian Louboutin sandals set with leather straps and espadrille soles for her afternoon flight. She paired them back to a version of her day-to-day uniform, a black dress and a longline black trench coat. (So far, designer IDs for all three pieces have yet to be confirmed.)
Espadrille-sandal hybrids like Jolie's have been the main character of late-summer street style that I've observed while reporting abroad for Marie Claire this season. With a nudge from the boho wedge sandal revival kicked off on Chloé's runway, brands from Sézane to Franco Sarto have released pairs that are the cousins of another French girl shoe trend , the platform Mary Jane. However, these combine the beachy aura of an espadrille with the towering heights of a strong platform sandal. They've worked their way into casual outfits with drop-waist dresses , boho maxis, and bubble hem skirts, to name a few recent sightings.
That said, Angelina Jolie is the first person I've observed who's so committed to the sandal style, she wears it in transit. Maybe she is following a style rule after all: You should never leave your valuables under the plane.

Recently, I had my own fashion encounter with Irene . After much searching, I finally bought an exquisite , pre-loved Irene jacket. The buttons on the jacket are a revelation. They are like delicate little pyramids rising from the fabric. Buttons were one of Irene Lentz's key design touches. She spent a lot of time selecting and designing the special buttons for her garments. The price for my timeless Irene was a mere $90.00. This jacket is one of my best fashion finds ever.
I consulted Irene expert Greg LaVoi after making my purchase. He told me, "That jacket will look wonderful with black pants or even jeans." Greg should know. He has the most amazing collection of Irene pieces and uses them effectively on the TV show The Closer to outfit detective Brenda, played by Kyra Sedgewick. In 2011, I hope to find a few more Irene's to augment my collection. I'll also have my eye on costume designer Colleen Atwood for an Oscar nomination for The Tourist. Irene, a leading costume supervisor at MGM in the 1940's, never won an Oscar despite being nominated twice. How sweet it would be if Colleen Atwood, inspired by Irene, could take home some Oscar gold. Ms. Atwood has my vote.

The actor, producer, director, and entrepreneur was photographed leaving her hotel in the Italian capital this Sunday, looking timeless in a cream-colored double-breasted Chanel blazer with vintage-inspired golden buttons. She wore the piece with breezy white pants and her favorite black quilted leather Saint Laurent pouch . The Those Who Wish Me Dead star further elevated the sophisticated ensemble with large black slightly tinted sunglasses, a gold bangle, and several gold-and-diamond earrings, including a pair that featured large rectangular drop diamonds. Always the epitome of elegance, Jolie kept her hair up in a neat bun and wore minimal, rosy makeup.
Jolie is a master at keeping an edited wardrobe and rewearing luxury staples.
She previously wore her Chanel jacket to attend the White House State Dinner in April with her eldest son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt. At the time, she paired it with an airy ivory gown , golden sandals, a golden clutch, and a large pearl necklace in a golden hue.
She also previously accessorized with her tinted sunglasses during at least two outings in New York City earlier this month—once using them to complete an elegant airport ensemble that consisted of a black trench coat and her go-to white pants. And she wore her Saint Laurent pouch for an outing in the city with son Pax Jolie-Pitt. Then, she styled it with her same sleek black trench layered over a black summer dress and paired with black ballet flats with tiny bows at the front.

I would like to add to the record that I owe my current Angelina Jolie obsession to my friend and former colleague Taylor Hicks , Bergdorf Goodman’s assistant manager of social media. Her Instagram is a mix of her personal style and all of the fashion moments that inspire her—most stemming from Old Hollywood movies and photos that are decidedly more glamorous than the current movement toward less glossy images. To me, it’s a welcome source of inspiration since I, too, consider the golden age of Hollywood to be one of my biggest influences. We actually bonded over our shared love for this bygone glamour when we worked together in New York at Allure .
But back to Angelina Jolie. Now that I’m living on the opposite coast, I recently did a deep dive into Taylor’s Instagram photos and uncovered some of Angelina Jolie’s best style moments. Looking at photos of Angelina Jolie next to film stills of actresses like Lauren Bacall and Tippi Hedren, it occurred to me that Angelina Jolie really is the modern-day equivalent to many of the last century’s biggest style icons.
Her looks are grounded in satin gowns, diamond jewelry, Veronica Lake waves, and a red lip, and to me, they carry on a tradition of classic elegance that can at times feel lost today. Hicks seems to agree. “Angelina Jolie so beautifully captures quintessential Old Hollywood glamour because she knows precisely how to carry herself,” she says. “There’s always so much grace and elegance in everything that she wears.”
But she is also a very modern woman. When I asked Taylor about her fascination with Jolie, she told me, “Angelina Jolie inspires me because she’s the type of woman who is more comfortable blazing her own path than following the one laid out before her. Quite frankly, she’s just a badass in every way. 10 Times Angelina Jolie’s Spectacular Jewellery Lit Up The Red Carpet
Though her approach to everyday style is inherently minimalist, Angelina Jolie is no stranger to commanding attention on the red carpet. The awards season veteran has attended myriad glittering events over the course of her career, topping many a best-dressed list thanks to her understated yet elegant outfit choices.
Dazzling jewels have made brief appearances in Angelina’s red-carpet wardrobe over the years, although the star tends to prefer an eye-catching statement piece over a matching parure. Jolie single-handedly put emeralds back on the map upon her arrival at the 2009 Oscars, when she turned heads in a pair of gargantuan 115-carat pear-shape emerald drop earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
The actor and activist – who was photographed by Craig McDean for the March 2021 cover of British Vogue – has even tried her hand at designing her own line of jewellery, with the help of longtime collaborator and friend Robert Procop (the creator of her engagement ring as well as the jaw-dropping necklace she wore in the film The Tourist ). The pair has collaborated on various charitable projects, released under the Style of Jolie umbrella brand that supports The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a non-profit organisation co-founded by the actor.
As we prepare for a virtual awards season in 2021, peruse some of Angelina’s finest jewellery moments from the red-carpet back catalogue below.
The diamond engagement ring
Crafted from an emerald-cut central diamond flanked by trapezoid stones, Angelina’s engagement ring from ex-husband Brad Pitt featured stones that were especially shaped to complement her hand.
Eye-catching emerald earrings
As Angelina knows, sometimes simple is best. For the 2009 Oscars, the actor offset her plunging black gown by Elie Saab with gigantic emerald drop earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
’90s diamonds
The actor sported a blonde, bouncy bob hairstyle and angelic off-the-shoulder gown for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 1999, accessorised with a tiered silver necklace.
Angelina dazzled on the red carpet in a simple grey gown from St John and an uncut diamond vintage-style necklace, earrings and bangles set in 22-karat yellow gold, all from Bochic.

For the 2018 BAFTAs, Jolie wore a custom Ralph & Russo gown and glistening 32-karat diamond chandelier earrings by Graff.
Unexpected stones
The actor attended the premiere of her movie The Tourist in a cashmere Versace wrap dress and sparkling green beryl tablet earrings by Robert Procop.
An understated touch
At the Critics Choice Awards in 2018, she opted for a pair of understated oval drop earrings by Neil Lane and a white feathered Ralph & Russo dress.
Jolie wore one of her own designs – a 74.35-karat gemstone necklace with 47 spinels dubbed the “Premiere Black Faceted Necklace” and created in collaboration with Robert Procop – to the premiere of Salt back in 2010. She later auctioned the piece at the City Rocks event to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s appeal.
