Explore Cape Verde Nature Excursions is committed to promoting a sustainable form of eco-tourism, whilst highlighting the natural beauty of Sal and its amazing wildlife. We are proud to donate a percentage of every excursion directly to conservation efforts on Sal Island.

At Explore Cape Verde we are proud to offer you a range of high quality, eco-conscious excursions that bring you closer to nature as well as highlighting Sal’s vibrant history and culture. Our carefully selected team is made up of dedicated marine biologists and conservationists, so you can be sure that we will always be respectful of any wildlife we encounter on our nature excursions.  All of our team have a true passion for nature, which shines through on our excursions. We are committed to making sure our excursions are the best on the island and that our guests leave with fantastic memories of Sal Island.

Conservation

We are the only excursion company to donate a percentage of every excursion directly to the conservation charity Project Biodiversity , to help support conservation efforts on Sal Island. To date, we have donated over €15,000 towards the protection of the endangered loggerhead turtles and other animals; helping to preserve Sal’s wildlife for future generations. We also support Nakawe Project , a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping save the world’s dwindling shark populations. Most recently, we donated to their ' Game Over Fishing ' campaign, a feature length documentary designed to raise awareness and highlight the devastating effects of illegal over fishing of our oceans.

Sustainability

Explore Cape Verde is the leading example in sustainable eco-tourism on Sal. We are proud to have signed the first ' Declaration for Responsible and Sustainable Tourism ' on Sal. We were honoured to be one of the few companies asked to sign, in recognition of our ongoing commitment to sustainable, eco friendly tourism. This document is a 10 point code of conduct for excursion providers in which we commit to protect the environment, support local livelihoods and support local cultural norms, such as respecting and promoting local culture on our excursions.

Fantastische dag op Sao Vicente!

Paulo heeft ons samen met de uitstekende chauffeur de hoogtepunten van Sao Vicente laten zien. Paalo spreekt zeer goed Engels en vertelt veel over de geschiedenis en cultuur. De lunch is excellent! Wij, ons gezin met tieners en mijn ouders, allebei 75, hebben genoten.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Boa Vista, particularly the excursions planned by BU country tours. I was met at the airport and welcomed to the tour by Admilson. My tour guide who I had for 2 days was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and friendly, could not fault him. As a solo traveller I had hoped for there to be others on the tour, which there wasn't, only for half a day on the first excursion, which was initially a little disappointing, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. The hotel was fantastic, incredible location, right on the beach, gorgeous room with a view of the beach. The breakfasts were delicious on the roof terrace which had outstanding views of Sal Rei. A big thank you to BU country Tours. I loved my week in paradise.

We aim to offer interesting and different types of tailor-made trips – off the beaten track. We combine the Cape Verdean lifestyle with European quality standards. We cultivate a gentle and sustainable way of travelling.

We choose our partners carefully and have known most of them for many years. We closely involve the local population in our itineraries and aim to create a positive exchange between travellers and locals. Our focus is on working with small and local businesses, as we believe that only they can provide a family environment and help you discover the true soul of Cabo Verde.

We organise your trip directly from Cape Verde and personally assist you before, during and after your trip. Our travel agents and partners are located in Europe and on all the main Capeverdean Islands.

How it all began

Soul Tours was founded in 2008 by the Swiss-Capeverdian Milton Gonçalves.

Prior to this, the trained insurance salesman worked for the DEZA (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation).

During his participation in the Swiss reality TV show “Expedition Robinson”, the passionate traveller had the idea to found a travel agency for Cape Verde.

We donate a portion of the profits from each trip sold to associations that actively protect the environment in Cabo Verde.

We work with small and medium-sized enterprises and thus promote local structures. For every trip sold, we donate a portion of the proceeds to charitable organizations in Cabo Verde.

Our customer advisors and support staff work independently of location so that they can travel themselves.
