How to Choose a Christian Tour

Choosing a Christian tour that aligns with your interests, spiritual preferences, and travel expectations requires careful consideration.

Research Tour Operators

Look for reputable tour operators that specialize in Christian travel. Check their websites, read reviews, and assess their experience in organizing similar tours. Established companies often have a track record of delivering meaningful experiences.

Review Tour Itineraries

Examine the itineraries of various tours. Ensure that the destinations and activities offered resonate with your interests and spiritual goals. Look for tours that visit places you’ve always wanted to see or that offer unique opportunities for spiritual reflection.

Consider Group Size

Determine your preference for group size. Some travelers enjoy intimate, small-group experiences, while others prefer larger gatherings. Choose a tour that suits your comfort level and desire for personal connections.

Check Accommodations and Transportation

Verify the quality of accommodations and transportation provided during the tour. Comfortable lodging and efficient travel arrangements contribute to a more enjoyable experience.

Tour Leaders and Guides

Learn about the tour leaders and guides who will accompany you on the journey. Experienced and knowledgeable guides can enhance your understanding of the destinations’ cultural and spiritual significance.

Seek Spiritual Content

Assess the spiritual content and activities included in the tour. Some tours may offer daily devotionals, worship services, or prayer gatherings, while others may focus more on historical or cultural aspects.

Compare Costs and Inclusions

Compare the costs and what is included in each tour package. Take note of any additional fees or optional excursions. Consider the value of inclusions like meals, entrance fees, and guided tours.

Read Testimonials

Look for testimonials or reach out to previous participants to get firsthand feedback about their experiences with the tour operator and the overall trip.

Trust Your Instincts

Ultimately, trust your instincts and choose a tour that resonates with you on a spiritual and personal level. If a particular tour feels right in your heart, it’s likely the one that will offer you the most enriching experience.

How to Prepare for a Christian Tour

Preparing for a Christian tour involves a combination of practical considerations and spiritual readiness. Here are some steps to help you prepare for a meaningful and fulfilling Christian travel experience.

Define Your Purpose

Determine the purpose of your trip. Are you seeking a tour that focuses on spiritual growth, historical Bible sites, humanitarian outreach, or a mix of these elements? Understanding your intentions will guide your search.

Spiritual Preparation

Take time to pray and meditate on the purpose of the trip. Reflect on your spiritual goals and expectations for the journey. Consider reading relevant scriptures related to the destinations you’ll visit to deepen your understanding and connection.

Get to Know Fellow Participants

If possible, connect with other participants before the tour. Many tours have online groups or forums where you can introduce yourself, ask questions, and foster a sense of community before you even start your travels.

Understand Local Customs

Research the cultural norms and customs of the countries you’ll be visiting. Understanding and respecting local practices will help you make the most of your interactions and leave a positive impact.

Prepare Emotionally

Be open to new experiences and be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Traveling can sometimes be challenging, but approaching it with an open heart and a positive attitude can lead to transformative experiences.

Pack Thoughtfully

Pack appropriate clothing and essentials based on the destinations and activities on the tour. Don’t forget to include comfortable walking shoes, a Bible, a journal for personal reflections, and any items you use for daily devotionals.

The Power of Christian Travel Tours for Singles

Traveling can be a transformative experience, offering an opportunity to explore new places, encounter different cultures, and broaden our horizons. When combined with the shared values and faith of fellow travelers, it becomes an even more powerful tool for personal growth. Christian travel tours for singles provide a unique platform for individuals seeking spiritual growth, companionship, and a deeper connection with their faith.

These tours are specifically tailored for single Christians who wish to embark on a journey that not only satisfies their wanderlust but also nourishes their soul. By joining a Christian travel tour, singles have the chance to form meaningful connections with like-minded individuals, fostering a sense of community and fellowship that goes beyond the duration of the trip. This shared experience allows for personal growth, mutual support, and the creation of lifelong friendships.

The Importance of Community and Fellowship

One of the key aspects of Christian travel tours for singles is the emphasis on community and fellowship. These tours provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals to connect with others who share their values and beliefs. Traveling together allows participants to build lasting relationships, share experiences, and support one another on their spiritual journey.

Community and fellowship play a crucial role in deepening one’s faith. By surrounding themselves with like-minded individuals, singles can engage in meaningful conversations, share their thoughts and struggles, and gain new perspectives. The support and encouragement received from fellow travelers can be a catalyst for personal growth and a source of strength during challenging times.

Shared Values and Spiritual Growth

Christian travel tours for singles offer a unique opportunity for individuals to deepen their faith and experience spiritual growth. The itineraries are carefully curated to include visits to significant religious sites, churches, and historical landmarks that hold significance to Christianity. Through guided tours, group discussions, and prayer sessions, participants can gain a deeper understanding of their faith and its impact on their lives.

By immersing themselves in the rich history and culture of Christian destinations, singles can develop a stronger connection to their beliefs. The opportunity to witness firsthand the places where biblical events unfolded and to learn from knowledgeable guides and local experts can be a transformative experience. It allows individuals to reflect on their own spiritual journey, ask questions, and seek answers that further strengthen their faith.

Destinations and Itineraries Tailored for Single Christians

The holy land: walking in the footsteps of jesus.

The Holy Land is a dream destination for many Christians, and for good reason. It is a place filled with historical significance and biblical sites that offer a unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Christian travel tours to the Holy Land typically include visits to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, and the Sea of Galilee.

Participants have the chance to explore iconic sites such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Western Wall, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Mount of Beatitudes. Guided tours provide insights into the historical context and biblical significance of these locations, allowing singles to deepen their understanding of Jesus’ life and teachings.

Christian travel tours to the Holy Land often include opportunities for spiritual reflections and prayer. These moments of solitude and introspection allow participants to connect with their faith on a deeper level. Whether it’s standing on the Mount of Olives, looking out over the city of Jerusalem, or walking along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, these experiences offer a chance for personal growth and spiritual renewal.

The Camino de Santiago: A Journey of Faith and Transformation

The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a pilgrimage route in Spain that has been attracting travelers for centuries. It offers a unique opportunity for single Christians to embark on a physical and spiritual journey of faith and transformation. The Camino de Santiago can be a life-changing experience, allowing participants to connect with nature, reflect on their lives, and deepen their faith.

Christian travel tours on the Camino de Santiago typically cover the final stretch of the pilgrimage, starting in Sarria and ending in Santiago de Compostela. The journey spans approximately 100 kilometers, passing through picturesque villages, lush landscapes, and historical sites. It is a chance for singles to challenge themselves physically, while also engaging in spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, and reflection.

Pilgrimages have long been a tradition in Christianity, offering believers an opportunity to seek spiritual growth, repentance, and renewal. The Camino de Santiago provides a modern-day pilgrimage experience that allows singles to disconnect from the distractions of everyday life and focus on their relationship with God.

Walking the Camino de Santiago offers time for introspection, self-discovery, and contemplation. It is a chance to confront personal challenges, let go of burdens, and seek guidance from a higher power. The physical exertion required during the pilgrimage can also serve as a metaphor for the challenges faced in life, reinforcing the importance of perseverance and faith.

Other Destinations for Christian Singles

Europe is home to numerous destinations that hold significant religious and historical importance for Christians. Tours to countries such as Italy, Greece, and France allow singles to explore iconic sites like the Vatican City, the Acropolis, and the Basilica of Saint Denis. These tours offer a unique blend of cultural immersion, historical exploration, and spiritual reflection.

Christian cruises provide a unique opportunity for singles to combine their love for travel with their faith. These cruises often include onboard worship services, Bible studies, and guest speakers who share their insights and experiences. In addition to exploring various destinations, participants can enjoy the amenities of the cruise ship and engage in fellowship with other like-minded individuals.

The Benefits of Traveling with a Group of Singles

Safety and security.

One of the key benefits of joining a Christian travel tour for singles is the increased safety and security it offers. Traveling in a group provides a sense of reassurance, especially when visiting unfamiliar destinations. The tour company takes care of all the logistics, ensuring that participants are guided safely throughout the trip.

In addition, traveling with a group allows individuals to look out for one another, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable and protected. This sense of unity and mutual care enhances the overall experience and allows participants to focus on their personal growth and spiritual journey.

Affordability and Convenience

Christian travel tours for singles often offer cost-effective packages that include accommodation, transportation, meals, and guided tours. By booking as part of a group, individuals can benefit from group discounts and reduced rates, making these tours more affordable than traveling solo.

Additionally, the convenience of having all the arrangements taken care of by the tour company allows participants to relax and fully immerse themselves in the experience. From airport transfers to hotel bookings and sightseeing activities, everything is meticulously planned to ensure a seamless and enjoyable journey.

Opportunity for Lifelong Friendships

Traveling with a group of like-minded singles provides an excellent opportunity to form lifelong friendships. Shared experiences, deep conversations, and moments of connection create a strong bond between participants. The support and camaraderie built during the tour often extend beyond the trip, resulting in lasting connections and a sense of belonging.

These newfound friendships can be a source of support, encouragement, and accountability as individuals continue their spiritual journey long after the tour ends. They provide a network of individuals who share similar values and beliefs, fostering an environment of growth and mutual support.

Accommodations, Transportation, and Tour Guides

Christian travel tours for singles typically offer a range of accommodation options to suit different preferences and budgets. From comfortable hotels to guesthouses and retreat centers, participants can choose the type of accommodation that best suits their needs.

It is common for tour companies to select accommodations that reflect the local culture and provide a unique experience for participants. This allows singles to immerse themselves fully in the destination, fostering a deeper connection with the place and its people.

Transportation during Christian travel tours for singles is usually provided by the tour company. Depending on the destination and itinerary, participants may travel by coach, minibus, or even by boat or train for certain segments of the trip.

The tour company ensures that all transportation arrangements are well-coordinated, allowing participants to travel comfortably and safely between destinations. This allows individuals to relax, enjoy the journey, and focus on the spiritual and cultural aspects of the tour.

Tour Guides

Knowledgeable and experienced tour guides play a crucial role in ensuring an enriching and fulfilling experience for participants. They provide insights into the history, culture, and religious significance of the destinations visited, bringing the sites to life through their expertise.

Tour guides also facilitate group discussions, lead prayer sessions, and provide guidance for personal reflection and growth. Their passion for the destinations and their commitment to helping singles deepen their faith create a supportive and engaging environment throughout the tour.

Travelling Alone on a Christian Singles Vacation

trips for christian singles

Going on a Christian Singles Vacation can be a daunting prospect and for many an unrealistic possibility.  The thought of going on a vacation by yourself may be a frightening thought and one that you may not consider doing.  Singleness can be one of the drawbacks when it comes to such things as going on a Christian singles vacation.

You are either a brave soul who would not think anything of getting on a plane and arriving in a strange distant land and navigating your way through the country, or you are like me daunted by the fact, even so there is this desire to travel but have no companion.  I now realize it is something I have to do, I need to travel on my own. This may be because I find that travelling in groups is too hard and I end up on my own anyway or this is something the Lord wants me to undertake on my own.

Being single and going on a Christian Singles vacation can be difficult if you really can’t find someone, like-minded who you get along with and want to spend time with.

Our natural tendency is to want companionship, go with a friend or group of friends.  Someone to sit and dine with, go exploring, lay on the beach and generally have fun.

trips for christian singles

A Christian singles vacation could be your answer, they are organized and everyone is single so you’ll be making friends whether it be in the hope of finding a spouse or just to be around like minded people.

I have plenty of friends in church who I could go away with but they either have families, in a relationship, or have work commitments (we have a lot of teachers in our church).

Over the years I have had the desire to travel but never had the nerve to do so especially alone.  As a single woman you don’t have the natural choice of a husband or family to travel with so need to look elsewhere.

So what are the excuses for not going on a vacation, seeing God’s green earth, meeting new friends and having new adventures?

I’m Scared Firstly God did not give us a spirit of fear , with careful planning, research, getting to know the area you are travelling to, asking people who know the country or have visited.  Common sense and the Holy Spirit will conquer those fears so you can live the dreams you have.

I’ll Be Lonely We are never alone as God is with us and He will never leave or forsake us, but that’s still not the same as being with another person right?  If you are a social creature who needs to spend time in the company of others and you are outgoing and friendly, then travelling alone would be an easy task.  You would find new friend along the way and have great experiences.

On the other hand if you are shy and perhaps introverted this may be more of a challenge, but what if you had a safety net that would ensure you had the right type of company, you were safe and had the added security of being with like-minded people….Watch this space.

If you enjoy your own company then travelling alone would be perfect for you and you may think nothing of it.

Either way I am going to show you that you can enjoy vacations, group getaways and mission’s trips, things you can do as a single traveler or if you want to go it alone, and share with you what God has shown me about travelling.

trips for christian singles

Being Brave Even in your apprehension people may be shocked and want to discourage you to go on your own.  Family and friends rarely see the vision or the desire God has given you.  Be brave and be strong in God and go do what the Lord has shown you.

Couldn’t bring myself to do it.   Then maybe it’s not for you, go in a group or with another person, but make sure it is something God has places on your heart then just do it. Don’t wait, pray, plan and move.  You won’t regret it.

What if something happened?   As long as you take as much precaution as possible without being paranoid or excessive.  Have trusted people be praying for you continuously whilst you’re gone and let God give you the peace that surpasses all understanding.  In this guide I will give you the necessary steps to remain safe.  Sure stuff happens but God is always in control.

You can sit and procrastinate or you can just do it.  I do so believe God will use our singleness to do so much more.  Sure you’re serving on 90% of the church teams but we can do so much more than stay in our comfort zones, in the security of our everyday lives.  Are you waiting on God? Well maybe He’s waiting on you.  Don’t just sit there and wait.  Do something!

You have a fear of never living out your dream because………….  Fill in the blanks.  You know yourself better than anyone. Other than God.  What are your dreams and why aren’t you living them?  God’s timing is perfect but make sure you don’t miss it, sometimes God can give us a dream and it doesn’t play out for many years.  Remember Joseph took 20 years before his dream became reality.

trips for christian singles

I can’t find anyone to go with.  That’s a common problem.  You either don’t fit well enough together or don’t share the same interests other than Christ, can’t match up with the same dates or other commitments or you just haven’t asked.

Eating Solo.   Some people just can’t bring themselves to eat alone.  Going to a restaurant by themselves is not an option.  Why not think of it as going to McDonalds by yourself, everyone’s done it just to get that quick bit to eat.  It’s not much different in a restaurant, bring a book to occupy yourself while you wait.  Ask someone of the same sex if they mind you sitting with them as you feel awkward, that’s always a conversation piece.

Christian Vacations for Singles

While many individuals enjoy traveling with another person in order to share their experiences and memories gained from the trip, Christian singles are able to travel with other like-minded Christians while becoming closer to God through their journeys. The trips need not be lonely, as there are many Christian organizations that provide group travel experiences, bringing singles together on one trip. Tours to places that are important to an individual spiritually while still remaining a relaxing vacation are offered through several organizations, and can be done by land or sea.

Paul's Journeys

Retracing the steps of the apostle Paul not only leads you into exotic lands, but also aids you in contemplating the message of Jesus and your own spirituality. Traveling as a single through these areas is also quite simple, for the regions are safe and the locals helpful. Travel through Macedonia, then south to Corinth and eventually travel to Athens, a bustling city where Paul preached one of his most important sermons. Travel on your own or with a group.Templeton Tours offers this trip for singles.

Cruises devoted to serving Christians are not only a way for singles to relax and meet other Christians, but also provide spiritual guidance and enhancement through seminars and speakers throughout the trip. Worship services are offered and ships can be booked that are solely devoted to singles and their needs, removing the hectic nature of a cruise ship with large and young families on board. Templeton Tours as well as All Christian Cruises offer a variety of trips for Christians.

Walk in the footsteps of Jesus, from the stations of the cross to the Sea of Galilee. A trip to the holy land as a single not only inspires you spiritually, but also allows you to focus solely on God and holy moments.

Israel is also a safe region in which to travel alone, either as a male or a female, just ensure you respect the holy areas by wearing clothing that is appropriate and seemly.

Fly in to Tel Aviv, a vibrant and hip city, and then travel over to the Sea of Galilee, on the Jordanian border, down to the Dead Sea and then back over the country to the ultimate destination, Jerusalem. Tours can be taken individually or with a group.

Academic Tours

Going on a C.S. Lewis tour not only introduces academic individuals to one of the most important Christian scholars, but also allows them to meet like-minded participants while touring the beautiful British countryside. Delve into the life of Lewis and his important publications while traveling around his favorite haunts and visiting where he was born. This tour is an informative guided holiday for single Christians into the man who created the Narnia series.

Opportunities for Ministry Abound for Christian Singles

At the time of this interview, Dawn — a single woman with a heart to love and serve others — had just returned from a one-week mission trip with Medical Missions, the fifth such mission trip she’d taken over the period of six years. Though living on a nonprofit salary, she’d managed to save enough money to finance each trip. Dawn didn’t wait for these one or two-week trips to be used of the Lord, though. She found various opportunities throughout the years to minister to others. She is a true example of one who invested her single years for the Kingdom of Heaven, rather than squandering her freedom, money, and abilities only for her own pleasure.

“For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.” (Matthew 25:29)

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:40)

What is Medical Missions, and how did you first start taking these trips?

Medical Ministries International is a nonprofit organization based out of Texas whose theme verse is John 13:15 “I have set an example that you should do as I have done for you.” Their mission statement is: MMI is an opportunity to serve Jesus Christ by providing spiritual and physical health care in this world of need. I first heard about this organization in 1994 when my friend’s parents returned from a trip with them and recommended MMI to their daughter and me. We got more information and then went to the Dominican Republic in 1995, my first of four mission trips with MMI.

Tell us about each of your mission trips with MMI.

My 1995 trip to the Dominican Republic was with medical doctors, surgeons, and a dentist. My job was to greet the patients and take them to the appropriate doctor. I also helped to weigh the babies that came to the clinic. Another aspect of my job was to help entertain the children as they were waiting to be seen by the Doctor. We had things like balloons and bubbles to make their wait a more pleasant one.

Every day we would set up our “clinic” at a different rural location. This was a great way to see the country, too. Each patient is asked to pay a very small fee for the doctor’s services. For example, surgery may be $1.50. MMI wants patients to appreciate what services they are receiving; however, if they cannot afford to pay, no one is turned away.

On each MMI trip, while the patients are waiting to be seen by the doctor, someone on the team presents the Gospel to them. Those who become Christians are given a Bible. They are also encouraged to attend a health education “class” which teaches them to learn how to purify their water so they can safely drink it. I really like the idea that MMI tries to reach people not only physically but spiritually.

My second trip with MMI was in July of 1996. I went to Honduras on an Eye Project, which was organized to treat people with eye-related needs. My job on this trip was to greet the patients and dilate the patients’ eyes who needed it. I was also able to assist with minor eye surgery. I found it very interesting to see what eye doctors do and once again enjoyed reaching out to the whole person. The days were long, but we went to bed each night feeling very rewarded for our work.

Before our day would begin, hundreds of people would already be waiting. Some walked up to three hours to get there. The most touching memory from this trip was a blind lady who, after eye surgery, was able to see her children for the first time. There wasn’t a dry eye among us who witnessed this!

Ecuador was the location of my third missions trip. We stayed in a beautiful town in the Andes mountains. I agree with Jim Elliot who made the comment that “Ecuador has such a haunting beauty.” We worked mainly with the Quechua Indians. They were a conservative, quiet group of people. My job on this project was to help in the “pharmacy” by counting and bagging pills and vitamins. I also did some greeting of patients and ran errands for the Doctors. It was a great trip realizing God is the God of all people, not just North Americans.

My most recent trip was back to Honduras on a dental project. I was in charge of keeping all the instruments sterilized and in an orderly fashion so the dentist and dental student could have quick and convenient access to them. I enjoyed watching teeth being pulled, maybe because I was on the other side of the chair! On this trip, we did not have a specific preaching time but did show the Jesus video in Spanish. Many people commented about it and how much Jesus loved people.

I will go again with MMI as the Lord leads and provides the way.

Are there other missions organizations you have traveled with?

Yes, I went to Russia with Operation Carelift, an organization which is part of Campus Crusade for Christ and which is run by Josh McDowell. We went into the public schools in Russia, freely giving our testimonies to the classes. We were warmly received. Along with sharing Christ, we had gift boxes of school supplies for each child. Another part of the ministry was to hand out gospel bracelets which use different colored beads to share the plan of salvation in a very simple yet powerful way. I will always remember a Russian man stopping me and showing me the bracelet he had received the year before. He told me that he had become a Christian through the message he heard regarding the bracelet.

Once a year, for a two week period, Josh McDowell Ministries has a warehouse in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where they make thousands of these gospel bracelets and pack gifts for the orphans and students they will be visiting on their winter and summer trips. I always enjoy helping out as my schedule permits. People are invited to come and help from all across the country.

How do you finance these trips as a single person?

Sometimes I have written letters to my friends and family. Often, people have given without my asking for money once they hear about my trip and what I would be doing. The Lord has always provided the way, down to the final cent.

What do you do for a living?

I worked for eight years as secretary and bookkeeper at a Christian elementary school. In June, I switched jobs and work at a nursing home. I primarily do cleaning and feeding of the residents along with some office work. I enjoy getting to know the residents and forming friendships with them. I find it interesting that often the folks who never married have more visitors and people who are concerned about them than those with families. One lady even commented to me that even though she has children, they rarely come to visit. So, we can’t assume that if we have children then our growing old years will be full of visits from children. They may or may not be.

Why do you take nonprofit jobs when you could make more money elsewhere?

I enjoy feeling like I am making a difference in people’s lives, not just bringing home a paycheck.

Tell us about your voluntary service experience.

For a year from January 1991 to January 1992, I worked at a public school as a volunteer in Johns Island, South Carolina. I worked in the office part-time and also had reading groups with children who had difficulty reading. I really enjoyed the friendships I formed with the teachers, staff, and children. This assignment was through a missions agency. Our household, which consisted of around ten people, was all involved in reaching out to the community, such as having kid’s clubs every week for the area children. The guys worked for Habitat for Humanity, volunteering their time and working with groups coming to help build houses for a week or two. Hurricane Hugo had recently gone through South Carolina and really devastated the area.

Are you currently involved in any other types of ministry?

I take care of an older lady on Tuesday nights. I have formed a very special relationship with her. She is a widow and her children are busy so their visits are not as often as she would like.

Do you consider yourself a Purposeful Single?

Most days. I also struggle with the desire to get married. But, I want to make a difference for God with my gifts and abilities now and in the future, either married or single.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being single in doing missions trips, volunteer opportunities, and the other jobs you’ve had?

The most obvious advantage is that I am not tied down to a husband or family, so I can travel easily. I know these trips can be done while married, but it definitely gets more complicated in making the arrangements and with the actual going. Also, it is easier to support one person on a “nonprofit” job income than a whole family.

The disadvantage is that it would be fun to share these experiences with a partner and children.

If you never marry, what would you like to look back at age 90 as being accomplishments in your life?

At age 90, I would like to look back and remember how I was able to go on these missions trips abroad and how here at home I formed relationships and made sacrifices in the name of Jesus. The final command Jesus left for all of us, married or single, is to go and make disciples of every nation.

What encouragement would you like to give to other Christian singles?

Use your talents and abilities to reach out to other people at home or abroad.

25 Fantastic Singles Travel Groups You’ll Love

By: Author Amanda OBrien

Posted on Last updated: 01/08/2023

A few years ago there were hardly any single travel groups that offered options for holidays for one – let alone companies who entirely focused on solo departures and looked at things like no single supplements etc and solo travel groups.

Thank goodness for the growth in singles travelling as now there is a good economic reason for companies to look at developing great offers for those looking for holidays for one.

There are now singles travel groups over 30s, single travel for over 50, singles travel getaways, luxury solo travel tours and singles travel getaways galore.

I will let you know which of these tour companies I have traveled with and which I haven’t – if you then go and do a tour on one of the ones I haven’t been on please do let me know what they are like – and I would love you to write a guest post if you’re up for it.

There are so many options for solo traveling today – here are some great trips for single travelers.

BEST SOLO TOUR OPERATOR: Short on time? You can’t go wrong with Explore which has a section dedicated to solo travel on their website.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Explore ✔️ Dedicated Solo Tours ✔️ Small Group Tours ✔️ No single supplement

G Adventures ✔️ No single supplement ✔️ Free time in itineraries ✔️ Evening Group Meals

Encounters Travel ✔️ Private & Small Group Focus ✔️ 20 Years Experience ✔️ Range of Tours

Explore is perhaps one of the best singles travel groups. It is also the company I have been a traveling single with the most so the best place to start! Explore has been running since 1981 so they have loads of experience with running tours.

Explore covers over 100 countries and has a maximum group size of 11 and there is no single supplement if you take a shared room. There is an option to have your own room but that does cost extra. They prioritize working with locals and do a great job finding expert guides.

Around 60% of people who go on Explore trips are traveling on their own and they break down solo vacations into age groups on their website which is really helpful.

My second recommendation for solo travel vacations is G Adventures . They have a wide range of small-group trips designed for the solo traveler. There is no single supplement as long as you are willing to share a room with someone of the same sex. G Adventures also offers single rooms at reasonable prices if that is your preference.

The itineraries for G Adventures trips tend to have more free time than some of the other tour companies in this article. This is great if you are someone that likes to have some time to yourself to relax or explore further but want the support and structure of an organised group trip.

One of the most difficult parts of solo travel can be dinner. Eating on your own can feel lonely and isolating. The tour leader organizes group meals most nights, so if you want company you will almost be able to find it.

If you are traveling alone one of the best ways not to feel like it is to join a group doing some challenge – when I summited Kilimanjaro on an organized solo tour. we were a team from almost the word go. More than half of the trip was traveling solo – some were single, some had partners who didn’t want to go, some like me had someone pull out last minute etc.

It didn’t matter who you had arrived with – what mattered was everyone wanted someone to talk to about whether or not to take Diamox, tips on altitude, share lollies, etc etc.

I have done two travel solo tours with friends – North India and cycling Southern Iceland . Again an activity-based trip can be a great travel for singles option – particularly as you tend to be exhausted every night and eat and sleep.

Solo Female Travelers Club is a community of more than 90,000, run by the fantastic travel bloggers Meg and Mar. The heart of the community is their Facebook group, which has some great information and is the perfect way to meet other females interested in traveling solo.

Meg and Mar also run female-only small group tours that range from luxury retreats to adventurous expeditions in some awesome locations.

One company I have been particularly keen to try but it just hasn’t worked out on timings and destinations is Flash Pack . I love the tone and feel of their website – it is very much about boutique adventures.

They focus on people in their 30s and 40s and seem to have some great travel groups for solo travelers.

woman poses in front of a temple in bhaktapur nepal

Australian based Travelling Divas also promises boutique hotels and customized trips. I have also been very keen to try Cox and Kings solo holidays .

Cox and Kings have a great reputation as a high-end travel specialist so I am highly confident that the thread count on their sheets will be up to my standards based on how fantastic their hotels look.

These trips though will, of course, be at a premium to some of the other options I have mentioned. But their group travel singles options look terrific.

⇒ Spas and skiing are terrific options for solo travelers. Check out my posts on the best Singles Ski Holiday options and on 30 Fabulous Solo Spa Breaks.

I would highly recommend that you think beyond the country you live in when it comes to solo travel groups. For example, quite a few travel companies based in Australia now run specific holidays for solo travel groups.

Encounter Travels is all about solo travel but not traveling alone as they say.

red sands with a path and shadow of person taking photo in namibia

They also age match so if you are a 35-year-old solo traveler you won’t be in a group of people in their 70s. They do have quite a few trips to various parts of Australia but also a few trips to other places around the world.

Another solo travel company based in Australia is Twos a Crowd . Some UK based companies that specialize in solo travel groups are:

For a more adventurous bent check out    8th-day adventures . They are a London based club that has lots of sporting events and other fun things that are a mix of social and activity.

They also run some group holidays which could be good for the more adventurous solo traveler eg Everest base camp

An interesting-sounding organization is Archaeo Adventures. This female-focused travel company looks at adventures in countries like Morocco and Jordan in small groups. They are about boutique hotels, working with locals, and off-the-beaten-track experiences.

woman in jacket with hands up in front of prayer flags pile mount everest base camp

Female-focused hosted adventure trips are also the focus of Living Big which is US-based. Another company specializing in solo travel groups USA is Overseas Adventure Travel , which offers some fantastic-sounding trips for adventurous solo travelers.

Heading to Australia there are Adventurous Women and Another World Adventures.  Another World Adventures curates adventures from different providers. It is a very comprehensive site with loads of options that sound great.

people setting up camp with the top of mount kilimanjaro in the background

Even cruise ships have gotten on board with the growth in solo travel. Norwegian Cruise Line is the brand most commonly mentioned for having actually built single cabins and apparently there is a dedicated area for solo travelers.

They have several cruise brands – Norwegian Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, and Escape. But ensure you look closely as these can be more family-focused at certain times of the year – check out my top tip 2 below.

Encounter Travel also has loads of information on solo cruise options. They even have a “cabin mates wanted” section where you can potentially find another same-sex solo traveler with whom you can share a cabin.

There are a few organisations that run group tours that have some activity/challenge that supports a charity. These can be a great way to find others to travel with and the shared sense of purpose can surely add to the group bond.

Have a look at Global Adventure Challenges and Charity Challenge.

An organized trip around an activity you love that is also about solo travel is a fantastic formula to follow. Even if you don’t really bond with anyone on the trip if you have learned more about Italian cooking or photographing sea life it is a well-spent holiday.

Quite a few organizations I have listed above offer planned trips around passions and hobbies. Here are a few others I’ve found:

Frui has some fantastic looking passion-based trips – from photography (a great one for solo travel) to painting to food in some lovely locations. I did a day class with them once in London in photography and they were great.

The Red Sea in Egypt appears to be a very popular solo travel spot – most likely driven by the amount of activity that can be done in the water. There are also numerous diving and/or underwater photography courses in the area.

woman and small hut with tree in namibia

Skyros is a very famous spot in Greece for activity/passion-based trips. They used to have a bit of a self-help bent but now they are very focused on passions like painting, singing, yoga , and learning.

They have two locations in Greece and one on the Isle of Wight for taster weekends. According to their site, 70% of their travelers are between 40 and 60, and most travel solo. This is a great option if you’re looking for singles travel groups over 40.

In August 2017, I spent a month living life Unsettled in Medellin Colombia, and loved it. Unsettled is a fantastic concept. Essentially it aims to give people the experience of living in a city for a month rather than being a tourist.

It does this because it has about 25-30 people sign up, organizes apartments and coworking space and sets up activities that you can participate in as much or as little as you like.

The other people on the trip are your community, the hosts act as your connection to local life and having an apartment and workspace means it feels more like living.

They choose brilliant locations from Buenos Aires to Cape Town to Barcelona . I highly recommend checking them out.

If you decide to live life Unsettled then use the code “FRIENDSOFUNSETTLED”  and tell them that the Boutique Adventurer sent you for a discount of USD$150 .

Flash Pack group adventures - - 4 women sitting having a drink

A great way to travel solo is to mix things up. If you were heading to say Australia you could go and stay in a spa for a few days (a great way to meet people), head to say Sydney on your own and stay at a boutique hotel and use Tinder or join a meetup group.

You could then join an organized tour with someone like Explore, travel with them for a while, and then have some time solo again. Committing to a lengthy organized tour can be a bit much – plus it is hard to find one that covers everything that you want.

I find a mix is optimal – if you feel lonely it is only a few days till you have company, if you’re dying to be on your own again it’s only a few days till that happens. And you may very well meet others traveling alone on your organized section who are keen to have further adventures after the tour.

I have many friends I have met when traveling solo who become travel buddies and loads of other friends of mine are the same.

September is a great time to travel solo. Be careful of all organized tours/cruises etc during any school holiday time, particularly over the summer, as you may end up surrounded by families.

However, school has returned in September, and there are often many deals for solo travelers.

There is nothing like a good book to keep you company when traveling solo! I keep adding to my list – please email me with more suggestions! [email protected] .

I keep them all in my Amazon shop. And I have just launched a range of e-books aimed at solo travelers! I have an ebook on Solo Travel, my trip to Colombia with Unsettled and Everest Base Camp .

Yes! There are several travel companies just for single people as well as companies like G Adventures that offer trips designed for single travelers.

In my opinion, rather than focusing on a particular destination singles should look at holidays with a focus or goal like a cycling trip or a trek. This is most likely to bring together like-minded people and provide a common purpose.

woman on train platform with suitcase

It can be. The best way to avoid feeling lonely when traveling solo is to join an organised tour. Or if you are on your own look at staying in high-end hostels for some comfort and the chance to meet others. And a good book can transport you from any difficult situation! And don’t forget to check out things like the safest cities in the US to make sure you can relax during your trip.

There are several facebook groups for female solo travelers such as Solo Female Travelers (who also organise group trips for solo female travelers). I have also found that going to a spa/yoga retreat can be a good way to meet other female solo travelers.

I paid for everything associated with this post. This was completely me travelling and not working with any tourism boards or hotels or tour groups. Much of what is in this post is stuff I learned before I started my blog – and probably a lot of what led me to start a travel blog.

However, this singles travel groups post does contain affiliate links. That means that if you click through on them and make a purchase I may well receive a small commission. I just wanted to make sure that you knew.

Great ideas. I have done a lot of solo tour travel as I like the security of a tour when I am on my own. Some other companies:

Contiki is great for the 18-35s, especially when you haven't travelled much before.

My favourite company is G Adventures, no single supplement, but you can pay for your own room and a huge range of tours world wide. They are Canadian based. All ages, very budget and affordable.

Another one very similar to G Adventures but Australian based is Intrepid tours. World wide, budget, no single supplement but also has own room option if you don't want to share.

I have made life long friends on these tours when I was travelling solo. Now we meet up all over the world and do tours together!

Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
