TikToker who documented journey with metastatic sarcoma dies at 31, released final video saying 'I've passed away'

TikToker Kimberley Nix, who documented her three year journey with metastatic sarcoma, has died at the age of 31.

As a final farewell, Nix published a last video on her TikTok page to her 148,000 followers saying, “If you’re seeing this message, I have passed away peacefully.”

Nix, who worked as a resident doctor, was diagnosed with palliative sarcoma cancer at 28 years old, according to her TikTok account. Since then, she's used the platform to spread awareness on sarcoma cancer, a group of cancers that begin in the bones and in soft tissues, according to the Mayo Clinic .

In her farewell video she said: "I am a resident doctor who trained in internal medical and had a beautiful life and I’m so proud of it. Those who know me know I love my pets, my husband and make up in the reverse over, my husband first and of course all of my family and friends."

"In 2021, I got the opportunity to start making TikTok videos and I never thought that these would become anything. My goal was to spread awareness about sarcoma cancer, and we have been a successful team. We have reached great heights in sarcoma awareness," she explained.

"One of the things that has been the most important for really getting to know you all better has been also sharing my own journey and through my TikTok page, I've shared my journey from the time that my disease was potentially curative ... I've shared about going through six different lines of both experimental and non experimental ... therapies," she said.

"I shared about going through the various challenges of cancer and how we overcame them and I shared about love and joy and gratitude, because in this journey being grateful with people in the little moments, those little parts of your day like that warm first sip of tea in the morning or how it feels when the snow is fresh on your face, are the most beautiful."

She also documented checking items off her bucket list — from her engagement, her wedding, to a dream trip to New York City where she had "a plush stay" that reminded her of the TV show "Gossip Girl" and saw a musical on Broadway.

Nix also enjoyed trips to the mountains, to San Francisco's wine country, and saw some of her favorite artists including Taylor Swift on her Era's Tour, Coldplay and Noah Kahan.

"Through this time my workplace, my husband’s workplace, have been so supportive of us and he’s been able to be off with me a lot of the time. I've had my parents here a lot of the time supporting me and having support is so wonderful," she said.

Nix started to cry when she spoke about her husband.

"My only sadness dying is knowing that we didn’t get to grow old together. Everything else is totally bearable because that is the only thing that really matters," she said.

In her video she said she felt "at peace" with her life and overcome with gratitude for the people in her life, enjoying everyday small moments and with her mission on TikTok.

"If following along as been helpful in any way I have achieved my goal. If sarcoma awareness is achieved, I've achieved my goal," she said.

"This community has meant the absolute world to me. I will miss you TikTok. I love you all," Nix ended her video. "Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. I’m in happy tears because you’ve all made me find so much purpose in the end of my life."

Nix's husband, Michael MacIsaac, said in a statement on TikTok Wednesday: "My beautiful and selfless wife, my unconditional support and guiding light, and the world's purest soul, passed on today."

He said his wife faced hardship and tragedy with “grace and kindness,” “loved the unloved,” and “healed the ailing” in her life, cut too short.

“I tried to learn all I could, from the biggest inspiration I’ve ever known. Where does all your empathy come from? Your work ethic? Your ability to seize every moment? I didn’t have enough time, but a hundred lifetimes wouldn’t be enough. I’ve no idea how she crammed it all into one, short as it turned out to be,” he said.

“I’m eternally grateful to have been your husband, and am so much better off for having known you. I’m shattered into a billion pieces. I love you Kim,” he concluded his message.

In another message shared Thursday he said: "Yesterday was the worst day of my life, and somehow, thanks to some deeply cherished friends and the connectedness I felt throughout the day, we made it. Today isn’t much better, but I think we’ll make it again too."

MacIsaac said he was "overwhelmed" by the response following his wife's passing.

"You sent me your light and love from every corner of the globe. While that’s easy enough to believe — Kim accomplished the ultimate goal of leaving the world better than she found it — what I can’t believe is how many of you are concerned about me. I’m touched."

Farlight Games, the global publishing brand of China’s Lilith Games, announced Song of Strife, a major update to AFK Journey, an anime-style RPG.

The adventure game launched in December for testing and debuted in March. It’s getting a big update with new story content, game modes, battle mechanics, and much more, including two new playable heroes.

Farlight Games will release expansive content updates for AFK Journey on a roughly quarterly basis. As a live service title, players can expect a robust content offering and regular patch updates going forward. I saw a demo of the update and the game has a pretty anime look.

AFK Journey whisks players back to the magical world of Esperia, where they will recruit numerous heroes to their cause, take on powerful foes, and earn rewards both through in-game actions and idle (AFK) mechanics. Players can freely roam across Esperia’s rich and colorful world, exploring bustling towns and taking on quests from NPCs. The combat system has been revamped to add new abilities, including environmental traps and precision-timed ultimate moves to unleash on enemies.

New story content

In this new season, players continue their journey as Magister Merlin, teaming up with a mysterious young companion in a new desert region. The player is drawn to the desert when rumors of a false Merlin roaming the region come to light. They’ll need to work with the desert’s Mauler tribe to uncover the truth as well as take part in the tribe’s Warsong Festival. There’s a rumor going around of copy of Merlin wandering around.

New map area: The Ashen Wastes

The desert landscape has a number of unique features, characterized by vast dunes stretching endlessly that resemble the waves of the sea, stretching endlessly. The direction and strength of the wind determine the shape and location of these dunes. The AFK Journey art team deliberately designed dynamic environments to simulate the most authentic desert ambiance, allowing players to feel the waves of sand as if they were in the desert.

New characters: Alsa and Soren

Alsa is a mage specializing in earth-based magic. With her skills, she can curl into a ball for both defense or offense. Soren is a fierce rogue, with strong warrior, with valuable knockback abilities and nimble reflexes on the battlefield.

Seasonal progression system: Magic Charms

Magic Charms offer a new way for players to develop their heroes. This feature is seasonal, meaning any charms players acquire during the Song of Strife season won’t work beyond that season. These charms provide heroes with stat bonuses and special effects. The higher the quality of the charms, the stronger the stat bonuses and effects.

New game mode: Dura’s Trials

Dura’s Trials is a new PvE mode where players can earn resources for Magic Charms. Each day, players will be able to challenge different types of trials, each boosting specific heroes and offering random charm drops. As they progress through the trials, players have a better chance of earning higher quality charms.

Seasonal skills

Each season brings unique seasonal skills that provide unique experiences. Players can unlock a hero’s seasonal skill once they reach Season Level 51, and enhance it by leveling up the hero throughout the season. Players’ season level and their progress in other seasonal modes will be factored in when determining the rewards they receive at the end of the season.

Supreme arena

Supreme Arena is open every Wednesday through Sunday. Players can compete against fellow Magisters from their District and win best-of-three matches to climb the ranks. Players can keep an eye out for special deployment tiles on the battlefield to gain a tactical advantage over your opponent.

The new Song of Strife update will be available for AFK Journey servers that have been active for 42 days. To unlock this and all future seasons, players need to reach Resonance Level 240, clear all AFK Stages, and complete the quest “The Last Leg”. Once they’ve gained access to the content, players can pick up the main quest in Holistone.

AFK Journey is now available for free on Windows PCs via the official website and on iOS and Android devices via the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Andor: Adria Arjona teases a complex journey for Bix Caleen in Season 2

B ix Caleen finally escaped the Empire's clutches at the end of Andor Season 1 after being rescued by Cassian Andor. However, according to ScreenRant , actor Adria Arjona teased a complex journey for her character in Season 2.

When we last saw Bix, she was being taken off-planet on a transport ship, along with others, including Brasso, one of Bix and Cassian Andor's lifelong loyal friends from Ferrix. Although it seemed like a happy ending at the time, we have to remember that Bix endured days of torture by the Empire. She was mentally shattered, making her future in a tumultuous galaxy more uncertain.

While speaking to Empire Magazine , Arjona hinted at there being surprising twists in Bix's story in Andor Season 2 :

I think [creator] Tony Gilroy's writing is so smart that wherever people think my character's journey is going to go, it's ten times more complex than what people imagine.Adria Arjona.

Arjona's promise that Gilroy has written a complex story for Bix's in Season 2 hints that things won't be black and white for Caleen, who's endured some of the worst torture by the Empire. We saw her being interrogated by Deedra Meero (Denise Gough) , an ambitious Imperial Security Bureau officer and one of the main antagonists of the series. At the end of Andor , it was too soon to tell what sort of impact this would leave on Bix and how it would shape her as a person.

Fans who've watched Rogue One: A Star Wars story know that Cassian Andor at the beginning and end of Andor is a far cry from the person he is in Rogue One , which guarantees massive growth for Cassian as a person in Season 2. It's likely to be growth resulting from many challenges and, perhaps, many betrayals from his closest friends. Will Bix be one of them?

Interestingly, Andor footage shown exclusively to fans who attended Star Wars Celebration 2023 showed that the two would be extremely close in Season 2 and hinted at a possible love story on the cards for the two. However, Arjona's description of Bix's journey in Season 2 indicates that it won't be smooth sailing for her, and she'll probably have to make many sacrifices along the way.

Will Bix turn staunchly anti-Empire, or will she work for the Rebel cause like Cassian? Regardless of the answer, it seems unlikely that her relationship with Cassian will last, as Cassian's dedication to the Rebel cause will force him to let go of many friends.

Andor Season 2 will premiere in 2025 on Disney+.

They fixed the app!

So, I honestly had no problems with this app. It’s great to bring characters to life and chat with them. Sure there were a few minor inconveniences but even those got fixed in the latest updates. Have been using this app for about a month now and love just “Discovering” everyone’s different AI Characters. Sometimes, I’ll be in a casual slice-of-life Rp, and next I’m paving through a zombie apocalypse. Or, sometimes I just wanna vent and the ai will just be available to respond. Problem with most rp’s is usually having to wait on other people’s timeframes but you don’t have to do that with these AI’s. I understand the server problems people have but I am seeing a huge difference lately and it’s great. My suggestion to others: take advantage of the Styles if you’re trying to build more engaging conversations. Also, be sure to add context as much as possible as AI technology does not always remember past its 9 to 12 responses. That’s not even this app’s problem but just literally every AI. Another tip: you can god-mod in your responses. A Northern California woman is facing more than three years in prison after being convicted of shoplifting more than $60,000 worth of items from Target using self-checkout .

Aziza Graves , 43, of San Francisco, was found guilty of one felony count of grand theft in violation and 52 misdemeanor counts of petty theft in a series of retail thefts occurring at one Target, according to a press release from the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

The Target store is in a shopping center in San Francisco's southwest neighborhood east of the San Francisco Zoo and north of San Francisco State University.

Thief stole from same Target store over 100 times in just a year

Prosecutors said Graves stole from the same Target store 120 times in just over a one-year period, KRON-TV reported.

Assistant District Attorney Conrad Del Rosario, who prosecuted the case, said the jury "heard and considered a large volume of evidence over several weeks" in the case.

Between Oct 3, 2020, and Nov. 16, 2021, she entered the store, brought items to the self-checkout, scanned them, and inserted “a single coin or bill” into the machine before leaving the store, jurors determined.

In this case, jurors found she repeatedly stole merchandise worth more than $60,000.

She was later seen selling her stolen goods at UN Plaza in the city, prosecutors wrote in the release.

According to the release, Graves was also convicted of one count of misdemeanor petty theft for stealing from a San Francisco-based Abercrombie and Fitch store.

“Individuals such as Aziza Graves commit egregious thefts through brazen and repeated conduct that greatly impacts retailers’ ability to operate and serve the general public in their area," District Attorney Brooke Jenkins released in a statement following the conviction. "These crimes demand accountability and we need to send the message to others who engage in open and brash thefts that, with the support of our local law enforcement partners, our office will continue to pursue and prosecute those involved."

Repeat retail thief set for sentencing May 24

As of Tuesday, prosecutors said, Graves remained free on bond.

Sentencing is set May 24 and Graves faces more than three years in prison, prosecutors said.

She continued, “So many people go through so much more with so much less to be thankful for. Seeing the beautiful parts of life each day helps me stay grounded and focused on what’s most important to me, and keep pressing forward with more treatment.”

Dr. Nix was initially diagnosed with extra-skeletal osteosarcoma. She later found out she actually had undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma, as “having an evolving diagnosis is common in sarcoma because there are over 100 subtypes,” she said.

“Symptoms of sarcoma are so important because there is no screening test. My symptom was the most common symptom in soft tissue sarcoma. [Everything was] completely normal — including all my lab values — except for a small, but rapidly growing lump in my left leg,” she said.

“Mine changed rapidly, which led me to see my doctor right away. It went from the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball in just over a week,” she continued, adding how she took a chemotherapy pill every day for treatment.

The day she died, Dr. Nix posted one last video to her account, which has now reached more than 4.6 million people.
