Tour de France jerseys to be provided by Santini
ASO announces five-year partnership with Italian brand to supply leaders jerseys from 2022
Amaury Sport Organization, the company behind the Tour de France , has announced Santini as a new official partner to the race. As of 2022, the Italian brand will supply all official jerseys for the Tour de France leaders, as well as the leaders of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, and the amateur riders competing in the L’Étape du Tour, in a deal that will extend through to 2027. The brand will also produce official replica jerseys that will be on sale to the public.
The move marks an end to a decade-long spell in which Le Coq Sportif has supplied the leaders jerseys after the French brand took over from Nike ahead of the 2012 Tour.
“Signing this agreement was a hugely emotional experience for us and we are genuinely thrilled to announce this partnership with the Tour de France,” says Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling Wear. “It marks the continuation of a relationship with ASO, begun with the sponsorship of La Vuelta and followed on with the Deutschland Tour. Now we have also added the most important race on the international cycling calendar to our tally.”

The announcement comes in addition to Santini's existing agreements with the UCI and UEC, in which the brand supplies the podium jerseys for the rainbow and European champions. The Italian brand has also supplied the leaders jerseys for the Vuelta a España since 2016, in a deal that was penned for five years. It's unconfirmed whether that agreement will continue.
Yann Le Moenner, CEO of ASO, said: “We are glad and proud to welcome Santini on the Tour de France. A new chapter has opened itself for the leader jerseys of La Grande Boucle thanks to this historic brand of cycling equipment. It will offer high-performance products with creative designs to both the elite of world cycling and the regular amateur riders who will once again be present on all the events organized by ASO.”
Founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini, the Italian brand comes with a rich heritage and race history, starting with its official UCI World Champion and World Cup leader’s jerseys back in 1988, and the creation of a long-lasting relationship with the Giro d’Italia and Maglia Rosa five years later. Since then Santini has formed a multitude of high-profile partnerships and collaborations, with the likes of Lizzie Deignan, the Australian National Cycling Team, La Vuelta, Trek-Segafredo, and the Tour de Suisse. Now with the announcement of this five-year partnership, it adds the Tour de France to this list.

" Signing this agreement was a hugely emotional experience for us and we are genuinely thrilled to announce this partnership with the Tour de France– commented Santini Cycling Wear CEO Monica Santini – It marks the continuation of a relationship with A.S.O. begun with the sponsorship of La Vuelta and followed on with the Deutschland Tour. Cycling’s Tour de France has announced Italian sportswear brand Santini as the new supplier of the grand tour’s iconic yellow jersey.
The agreement with event organiser Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) will kick in from 2022 and sees Santini replace French company Le Coq Sportif which, in turn, took over from Nike in 2011.
Santini’s new deal will run for five years and also covers leader jerseys for the women’s Tour de France Femmes and the amateur L’Étape du Tour event. In addition, the brand will be making the official replica jerseys for general sale, as well as the jerseys worn by amateur riders during the L’Étape du Tour.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
“Signing this agreement was a hugely emotional experience for us and we are genuinely thrilled to announce this partnership with the Tour de France,” said Santini Cycling Wear chief executive Monica Santini.

Santini already has a partnership with the International Cycling Union (UCI), the sport’s global governing body, and the UCI World Championships, which has been in place since 1994. That tie-up was expanded this year when Santini was unveiled as the kit supplier for the newly-formed UCI Track Champions League.
Santini has also supplied the leader’s jersey in the Vuelta a España grand tour since 2017.

Hi, I'm one of Cycling Weekly's content writers for the web team responsible for writing stories on racing, tech, updating evergreen pages as well as the weekly email newsletter. Proud Yorkshireman from the UK's answer to Flanders, Calderdale, go check out the cobbled climbs!
I started watching cycling back in 2010, before all the hype around London 2012 and Bradley Wiggins at the Tour de France. In fact, it was Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck's battle in the fog up the Tourmalet on stage 17 of the Tour de France.
It took me a few more years to get into the journalism side of things, but I had a good idea I wanted to get into cycling journalism by the end of year nine at school and started doing voluntary work soon after. This got me a chance to go to the London Six Days, Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour of Britain to name a few before eventually joining Eurosport's online team while I was at uni, where I studied journalism. Eurosport gave me the opportunity to work at the world championships in Harrogate back in the awful weather.
After various bar jobs, I managed to get my way into Cycling Weekly in late February of 2020 where I mostly write about racing and everything around that as it's what I specialise in but don't be surprised to see my name on other news stories.
When not writing stories for the site, I don't really switch off my cycling side as I watch every race that is televised as well as being a rider myself and a regular user of the game Pro Cycling Manager. Maybe too regular.
My bike is a well used Specialized Tarmac SL4 when out on my local roads back in West Yorkshire as well as in northern Hampshire with the hills and mountains being my preferred terrain.
In the light of yet another rider celebrating too early at the weekend, is it time to simply cross the line first?

Santini L’Étape du Tour De France 2022 Special Collection
Santini has been selected as a sponsor of L’Étape du Tour de France 2022: the Italian cycling wear company is dedicating both a men’s and a women’s collection to the famous amateur cycling event, which takes place on Sunday, July 10th next. The collections will be available to purchase in the Village and also from the brand’s website.
Starting from 2022, Santini will be sponsoring L’Étape du Tour de France, a cycling event that allows thousands of amateur riders to retrace the roads of the Tour de France as part of one of the most appealing and pivotal events on the calendar.
L’Étape attracts in excess of 16,000 competitors from all over the world each year as it not only delivers all of the emotions of cycling the same roads at the Tour riders but also opens up the most beautiful and iconic climbs in the French mountains to the riders.

Next year’s edition on Sunday, July 10th, 2022, will see the peloton tackling Alpe d’Huez in the French Department of Isère. One of the most insidious and grueling climbs in the entire Alpine range, this epic challenge includes 21 hairpin bends, numbered in descending order to help the increasingly exhausted cyclists tick them off.
A special L’Étape du Tour De France 2022 collection by Santini
Santini will be producing a line of cycling wear for L’Étape du Tour de France comprising a men’s kit and a women’s kit, a windproof vest, and accessories such as gloves, cap, and socks. The men’s kit is a mix of dark blue and black while the women’s has a navy blue and light blue color palette. The Italian company is also expanding the capsule collections by adding a cotton t-shirt with the same graphic as the rest of the kit and a water bottle.
Developed the Santini design working group coordinated by Fergus Niland, the collections are an homage to the Alpe d’Huez’s history and its first appearance in the Tour de France in 1952. Fausto Coppi won that year and the images used for the background of the jerseys are taken from the edition of L’Équipe newspaper published the day after his victory.
The white and red bands across the center of the jersey are a nod to the colors of the jersey worn by the great Italian cyclist and his team in that period too. A whole host of other graphic elements also reference Coppi: including the “L’aigle solitaire au Sommet de l’Alpe d’Huez “ script, the 1952-2022 logo on the sleeve, and the reference to the 70th anniversary of the victory and the Alpe d’Huez’s inclusion on the Grande Boucle route.
All of the items can be purchased from the Event Village and from the Santini Cycling Wear website .

About Santini Cycling Wear
Santini Cycling Wear was founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini who spotted a market for technical cycling clothing as a result of his abiding passion for the sport and competition. In what would seem like a revolutionary and contrarian choice today, the Bergamo-based company made the pivotal decision to design and manufacture all of its products exclusively in Italy. Each item is designed and developed by a design team with a deep-rooted passion for the two-wheel world to meet four key requirements: fit, performance, comfort, and durability.
Santini currently produces 5,000 items of clothing per day and exports 80% of its output. It is deeply committed to ongoing investment in researching and developing innovative textiles and new production methods. However, people – athletes – remain its central focus as it continues to refine its creations to allow cyclists to pursue their sporting passions in a comfortable but inimitably stylish kit ( www.santinicycling.com )
