How to Travel From Lima to Cusco, Peru, by Bus, Car, and Plane

lima to cusco travel time

Cusco, home of the Sacred Valley and an abundance of Incan ruins, is a popular stop on many a Peru itinerary. Nestled in the Andes mountains—a tourist destination in itself—this archaeological goldmine is 356 miles (573 kilometers) from the Peruvian capital of Lima . The distance by road, however, is almost twice as long (684 miles or 1101 kilometers). You can drive from Lima to Cusco (often spelled Cuzco) or take a 21-hour bus, but the fastest and easiest way to get between the two is by flying.

What Is the Cheapest Way to Get From Lima to Cusco?

For budget travelers with time on their hands, a direct bus from Lima to Cusco offers a more economical and adventurous experience. Traveling by bus in Peru can be time-consuming, but the country's top-end companies are comfortable enough to make even the longest journey bearable.

The quickest route to Cusco is via the cities of Nazca and Abancay. It can be a rough ride and you might be delayed due to landslides (especially during the rainy season) or other potential natural hazards, but if all goes well, the ride should take between 19 and 23 hours. You can, of course, break it up with stops in Pisco, Paracas, or Ica. Several companies run this route, including Grupo Palomino, CIVA (typically the cheapest), and Cromotex , all of which depart from Luna Pizarro at least once a day. Tickets range from $17 to $50-plus, depending on the time of day you travel (the earlier, the better) and the class you choose.

Another option would be to choose a route that goes through Arequipa instead of cutting inland from Nazca. This will be longer (24 to 27 hours), but it's much smoother and safer from mudslides.

What Is the Fastest Way to Get From Lima to Cusco?

The quickest and easiest way to get from Lima to Cusco is by plane. Some of the largest domestic airlines in Peru —LATAM, Taca and Star Perú—service Cusco regularly. The flight duration is about an hour and 20 minutes.

It is sometimes possible to show up at Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport and jump on a flight straight to Cusco (especially in the morning when most of them depart), but booking in advance is better for striking a deal. The cost of plane tickets can vary from $30 to $130, depending on which airline you fly with, how far in advance you book, and what time of year (or day) you fly. According to Kayak , there are more than 150 flights traveling from Lima to Cusco weekly. All flights arrive via Cusco's Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport.

How Long Does It Take to Drive?

Driving is not a popular option, considering the roughness of roads and availability of public transportation. If you do, however, choose to drive yourself, the journey will take roughly 19 hours. Drivers will go the same route as the bus: south to Nazca, then inland through Abancay. Check the conditions before you go and avoid the rainy season at all costs.

When Is the Best Time to Travel to Cusco?

The best time to travel to Cusco from Lima is May through October. This is inevitably the busiest season—summer vacations are in full swing—but any other time is considered to be Peru's wet season , and heavy rains could lead to extra dangers and delays. Regardless of when you go, temperatures in Cusco tend to hover around 65 degrees Fahrenheit (16 Celsius) year-round.

What’s the Most Scenic Route to Cusco?

If taking a train ride through the Andes is the stuff of your dreams, then this is the perfect opportunity to indulge in a rail journey. Although it's more expensive and takes more time than any other transportation option, taking the train from Puno (near beautiful Lake Titicaca) to Cusco is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Puno is about 239 miles (386 kilometers) southeast of Cusco, which makes the bus ride from Lima about 24 hours. However, the scenic PeruRail Titicaca train route (10 hours, 30 minutes) is worth the extra time if you crave magical panoramas and nature scenery. Train tickets start around $240.

Can I Use Public Transportation to Travel From the Airport?

Although there are no public buses running directly from the terminal, the local buses— combis —pick up from the Pecsa gas station just outside of the airport. The cost to get into town, a 20-minute ride, is about $.25.

What Is There to Do in Cusco?

Cusco , Peru, is the former capital of the Inca Empire, hence why you'll find so many archaeological remains here. Perhaps the city's most famous site is the Sacred Valley, which connects it to Machu Picchu . A short drive from Cusco is Rainbow Mountain (its Instagram-able colors make it worthy of its name), the historic Incan complex of Saqsaywaman, Moray (known for its circular terraces), and more. In the city, the UNESCO-recognized Cusco Cathedral is pretty to look at, too.

Lima to Cusco

In this guide we’ll explore some of the most popular ways of getting from Lima to Cusco. We’ll also take a look at where to stay as well as some other tips based on our time spent here.

Cusco Quick Summary:

  • 📍 Where is it: Southern Peru
  • 🗺 Difficulty Getting There: Easy
  • ⏱ Time needed: 5-8+ days
  • ☀️ Best Time to Visit: June-September

Where is Cusco?

The city of Cusco is located high up within the Andean mountains in the south of Peru. As you can imagine the temperatures are much cooler here compared to the rest of the country (especially with destinations such as Lima and Iquitos).

where is cusco peru

This is also due to the altitude, which at 3399m can be quite a different experience from the lower-lying destinations.

There is a dry and wet season here, and we have personally found that the dry season (June-September) is the best time to visit . Not only will everything be open as usual, however the weather will be more reliable too.

Is Cusco worth visiting from Lima?

As well as being the case with Huacachina and Arequipa , we think that Cusco is a must-visit on any itinerary around Peru.

You may choose to go directly from Lima where you’ll have various methods of making the trip (which we’ll explore later), or after completing the Southern Peru backpacking circuit.

Within Cusco we can find impressive colonial architecture and plazas, as well as many local markets and restaurants to try typical cuisine from the area .

There are also plenty of worthy day trips to head on from the city, such as to the lakes of Ausangate and Humantay, as well as to the ancient ruins of Moray, Pisac and Machu Picchu.

The Inca Trail is another really incredible experience you can tackle here, which I (George) completed recently in 2024 . Here you’ll hike through the Sacred Valley for 4/5 days before reaching Machu Picchu , seeing incredible ruins and scenery along the way.

You can check-out this awesome organized tour if hiking the Inca Trail is in your plans.

How far is Cusco from Lima?

Cusco is located roughly 117 km east of Lima , although the distance can change if taking different routes. Usually the driving time is between 20-22 hours, meaning you’ll have to sacrifice a day to get here (unless going by plane).

For this reason we do recommend visiting other destinations along the way to break up the travel times including Huacachina , Arequipa, Nazca and Lake Titicaca .

Given it’s so far away, it’s a good idea to plan quite a bit of time in Cusco. This will also help you gradually adjust to the higher altitudes, as well as allow you to experience many of the incredible wonders here and within the Sacred Valley.

Where to stay in Cusco?

Cusco is actually quite a big city, and especially so with its variety of neighborhoods (and also nearby towns you can stay in such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo).

where to stay in cusco itinerary

We personally recommend basing yourself close to the Historic Centre and San Blas areas , which have tonnes to see and do, as well as a wide range of accommodation options.

Those who are on a tight budget will want to stay at Viajero Kokopelli . Here you’ll be staying in a dorm room with a really sociable vibe in the hostel, which has an on-site restaurant and bar. You’ll also be just a couple of blocks from the Plaza de Armas.

If you’re after a more comfortable and private experience, then we suggest booking a few nights at the Plaza Nazarenas . Here you’ll be staying in a private room in the San Blas district, just a block east of the Plaza de Armas. There is also a coffee shop on-site as well as breakfast served daily.

Perhaps you want a much more memorable and luxurious experience. If this is the case for you, then you’ll definitely want to stay at the Hotel Plaza de Armas . Here you’ll be right within the main square, with great views of the cathedral as well as being close to many restaurants and tour agencies. You can also enjoy top service within their on-site restaurant and bar.

Getting from Lima to Cusco

Although a very popular route to make, it’s important to know that the distances between these two destinations are pretty huge. Through our experience we’ve found 3 main ways of making the trip (at this time of writing).

Bus from Lima to Cusco

The most daunting option of all, you may have already heard about this infamous bus ride. Whilst taking a lengthy 20-22 hours to complete, it’s the cheapest option for travelers with a one-way costing around $25 .

palomino express peru

You can easily book your ticket online using RedBus , or by heading to the two different terminals in Lima (each company usually has a terminal in La Victoria as well as in the Terminal Norte). Popular companies to ride with include Palomino, CIVA and Paredes Estrella VIP.

Having done this exact route twice myself, I (George) actually think it’s a memorable experience despite the lengthy hours. Along the way you’ll get to see pretty much every biome present in Peru , including the wild coast, hot desert, giant Andean peaks and high jungle mountains.

Plane from Lima to Cusco

Flying between these two destinations is a much more popular option, where Sky and LATAM airlines have various departures throughout the day.

This will cut your journey time down to just two hours , where you’ll also get to enjoy the same scenic views from above. The cost of a one-way flight from Lima to Cusco is around $35 (not including baggage fees).

As you can see flying is also really cheap, and to be honest is worth considering even on a tight budget as you’ll save close to 20 hours of traveling time. Sometimes it’s a good idea to treat yourself and rest up well, and this would be a good time to do so!

Small Group Tour from Lima to Cusco (6 Days)

Those who have the budget and want an unforgettable experience can also head on this multi-day group tour from Lima to Cusco .

Here you’ll have your own private tour guide show you around both cities , where you’ll also get to visit numerous must-visit destinations within the Sacred Valley (such as Chinchero, Sacsayhuaman and Moray).

As well as including all of your accommodation and certain meals on all days of the tour, you’ll also have your entrance to Machu Picchu (as well as the scenic train ride to the ancient citadel).

And that’s all for this guide on how to get from Lima to Cusco.

Nestled within the Andean peaks of Peru, Cusco is a formidable city with tonnes of cultural sites and colonial buildings to enjoy . You’ll find that you’ll need a good week or so to really explore the outer Sacred Valley region too.

In this guide we’ve explored how to get from Lima to Cusco, as well as where to stay and what to do.

Home » Blog » Peru » How to get from Lima to Cusco, Peru

The Andean city of Cusco is a must-see on any trip to Peru. In this guide, we give you the full breakdown of the best routes, cost, travel time, and everything you’ll need to know to get from Lima to Cusco whether by plane, bus, car, or a guided tour.

Cusco Peru

Lima and Cusco are two of the most popular cities to explore in Peru, each with their own unique charm, history and adventure.

After experiencing all the fun things to do in Lima , including eating at world-renowned restaurants, and sightseeing in the capital city, the next best part of any Peru itinerary is to head to Cusco.

Cusco is the capital of the Incan Empire, surrounded by the Andes Mountains, and a great jumping off point to explore Machu Picchu , Rainbow Mountain , and the Sacred Valley.

What makes the journey from Lima to Cusco so incredible is that there are a variety of ways you can get to one city from another. You can view the jagged peaks of the Andes mountains on a quick flight to Cusco, or you can extend your transit time over a few days, taking your time to explore Huacachina , Nazca, Arequipa , and many other popular places between the two prominent cities.

In this detailed guide, we break down everything you need to know about traveling from Lima to Cusco. Whether you’re taking it slow or need a more direct route, we dish out all of our best tips from getting from one city to the other.

Lima to Cusco by plane

Lima to Cusco by plane

The fastest way and most efficient way to travel from Lima to Cusco is by plane. There are many direct, domestic flights available between Lima and Cusco everyday. And prices are pretty reasonable, with one-way flights as low as $35 USD depending on when you book.

While not the cheapest way to get from one city to another, flying will save you loads of time on your itinerary, which could potentially outweigh the cost depending on how much time you’re spending in Peru. If you book in advance, you may be able to catch a good deal on a roundtrip flight.

One thing to keep in mind if you’re taking a flight is that the altitude changes between cities will likely have a stronger impact on you. Lima is right at sea level on the coast, and Cusco at a whopping 3,399 meters (11,151 feet) above sea level.

When you arrive in Cusco, we recommend taking it easy for a few days to acclimate, especially if you’re planning on hiking the famous Inca Trail during your visit.

Psst! Check out our guide to Cusco for some more tips on acclimating to the high elevation.

Lima to Cusco by plane

Flight time between the two cities is just 1 hour and 20 minutes on a direct route. Airplanes depart from the Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), just 40-minutes northwest of Lima, and arrive in a little over an hour to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ), only a 10-minute drive from Cusco.

Note: The best way to get to and from the airports in both Lima and Cusco is to use the Uber app to call a ride. Taxis are known to overcharge tourists and Uber is readily available with a set price. It should cost you about 50 PEN (~$15 USD) to travel between the Lima city center and the airport, and about 20 PEN (~$5 USD) to travel between the Cusco city center and the airport.

There are plenty of direct flights available, but some routes include stopovers in Arequipa and Juliaca, which will increase your travel time between the two cities.

Flights depart from 5:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., so it’s easy to cater your flight to your travel plans in either Cusco or Lima. Note that each airline has a variety of flights, but some departure times are only on certain days of the week, so be sure to shop for different days to see what’s available.

Hot Tip: Grab yourself a window seat for some epic views of the Andes Mountain Range and the city as you fly into Cusco.

Lima to Cusco by plane

The most reputable airlines with services from Lima to Cusco are LATAM, Sky Peru, Avianca, and Viva Air Peru. There isn’t one airline that has better prices over another, so it’s best to use a site like Skyscanner to shop around, in advance, so you can catch a good deal.

The cost of the flight from Lima to Cusco depends on what time of year you’re in Peru and the flight schedule. Generally, you can expect to pay at least $80 USD roundtrip during the regular tourist season.

Prices don’t generally exceed $120, but it depends on when you’re looking. If you book in advance, travel in low season, and catch a good deal, you can get a great price for a flight. We’ve spotted prices as low as $50 USD roundtrip in the off season, but this isn’t common to come by.

Psst! For more potential savings, follow these experience tips on how to find cheap flights .

Lima to Cusco by bus

Bus to Huacachina Peru

If you have extra time to spare while you’re in Peru, taking a bus from Lima to Cusco is scenic, adventurous, and one of the best ways to get around the country. The prices can be comparable to flights, but taking the bus takes up an entire day of travel. It’s common for buses to leave Lima at noon, and not arrive in Cusco until noon the next day.

There are many interesting stops between Lima and Cusco, so you may want to consider adding a few transit days to break up the bus journey and spend a day or two in Paracas, Huacachina or Nazca.

The travel time from Lima to Cusco by bus is 18-25+ hours, and it’s important to note that most bus routes to Cusco are overnight.

Depending on the bus company you book with, there are two routes you can choose from. Some companies will choose to make tourist stops at smaller cities along the route, some take a break for a few hours at each, and some may only stop for passengers and go onward to the next city.

Here is a breakdown of each route from Lima to Cusco:

Lima > Nazca > Arequipa > Cusco (23 hours)

This is the longer bus route of the two, but it’s recommended since the road is much smoother. It takes you south through Ica and Nazca and then further down to Arequipa. There are many noteworthy stops along this route that makes it the preferred choice of a lot of travelers, especially if you’re breaking up the bus ride between cities.

Lima > Nazca > Abancay > Cusco (18 hours)

This is the shortest route from Lima to Cusco and is divided into three segments: Lima to Nazca, Nazca to Abancay, and Abancay to Cusco. This bus route travels into the Andes mountains to get to Cusco, so the road is notorious for being curvy with steep ascents and descents, especially once you near Abancay.

If you’re prone to dizziness or car sickness, you may want to reconsider this route or bring proper medication for a more comfortable ride.

Pro Tip: Motion sickness wrist bands and ginger chews have helped me with car sickness a lot!

Bus companies

Things to Do in Cusco Peru

Cruz del Sur, Oltursa, Móvil Tours, Civa and Tepsa are some of the most popular bus companies in Peru that offer bookings online. They generally offer 3-4 departure times each day, all starting around noon.

Note: Each bus company operates from its own station, rather than there being one bus terminal with a variety of companies.

There are luxury buses that have entertainment and food throughout the journey. There are also  not-so luxury options with limited perks and no food or drink available. Be sure to review online before you purchase a bus ticket, so you can plan accordingly.

Although bus routes are much longer than flights from Lima to Cusco, the prices are almost comparable. You can expect to pay around $20-40 USD one way for a basic bus ticket. Expect to pay more for a luxury bus with more creature comforts. The decision of one or the other largely depends on your itinerary and what you want to see.

A bus ticket gives you the opportunity to visit a ton of incredible stops on the way to Cusco, which may make the extra travel time negligible if it’s planned into your itinerary.

Psst! If you’ll be traveling more throughout the country, be sure to check out our bucket list of can’t-miss things to do in Peru !

Lima to Cusco by car

Driving through the Andes in Peru

Although the most expensive and not the most popular way to get to Cusco from Lima, getting there by car is an amazing way to enjoy the impressive landscapes along the Central Highlands route.

This route travels through the heart of the Peruvian Andes and will give you a glimpse into the local life and traditions, making it perfect for the more adventurous travelers that want to make the most out of their journey to Cusco. You can explore this route by renting your own car or hiring a private driver.

With a rental car , you can get to Cusco in a variety of different ways with an unlimited amount of stops, but these are the most popular ways to get there. They’re very similar to the bus routes.

  • Travel time (via Abancay): 18+ hours, without stops

The most direct route to Cusco takes you through Abancay, in the heart of the Andes. Similar to the bus route, the roads are steep and winding, so it’s not recommended for beginner drivers. However, it’s an impressively scenic drive, one that you won’t forget.

  • Travel time (via Arequipa): 26+ hours, without stops

If you want to stop through other sites along the way to Cusco, consider going further south once you get to Nazca and head to Arequipa. You’ll be able to see the famous Nazca lines, Lake Titicaca, and lesser visited spots like Puno on your way to Cusco.

Rental car in Peru

Embarking on a self-drive road trip to Cusco is one of the best ways to take your time and have full control of your schedule. If you are renting a car, make sure you have an International Driver’s Permit (IDP), as it’s required to drive in Peru.

Tip: As long as you have a valid driver’s license in your home country, you can get your international driver’s license here , for just $30 USD. They have urgent processing available to get your digital license within 15 minutes.

The first stop on an epic road trip through Peru is a reliable rental car. We have always trusted Booking.com (formerly Rentalcars.com) for getting the best deals on car rental cars in Peru.

It’s important to note that the roads on a self-drive itinerary can be very rough on the way to Abancay, so it’s recommended that international drivers go through Arequipa for better road conditions.

If you’re visiting during the wet season (November through March), a self-driving route is not recommended due to mudslides and road conditions.

Private driver

A popular option for large groups or families traveling in Peru is to hire a driver to take you from Lima to Cusco. Peruvian Local Friend offers city-to-city transfers as well as tours around Peru. You can contact them through Whatsapp or through email to get an accurate quote for your trip.

Driving in Peru

This is the most expensive way to get from Lima to Cusco since you’ll need to get a rental car and consider the cost of fuel for the 1400-mile trip, or the cost to hire a private driver.

You can get a rental car in Lima for $20-40/day for a regular car, but you’ll want a car with 4-wheel drive to get to Cusco because of the road conditions. Trucks or SUVs are best suited for this route and cost around $50-70 USD/day.

In addition to this cost, you’ll need to factor in gas, which is generally $5 USD/gallon, but it is always changing. And don’t forget about accommodation costs if you’re spending additional time at any of the stops along the way.

Private drivers start anywhere from $80 USD/day and up, but it depends on your specific trip.

Guided tours from Lima to Cusco

These are similar to the regular bus routes, but with tours like these you’ll spend more time in each of the stops and experience some of the best things to do in Peru with the help of a local guide.

If you are taking a connecting flight from Lima to Cusco as soon as you arrive to Peru, take into consideration that you have to go through customs first. But the process has improved tremendously over the years.

You will have to fill out two forms: Customs Declaration; and Tarjeta Andina (also known as landing card or TAM).

Your Customs Declaration is meant for you to declare the items you are traveling with. If the total value of the items you carry that are not included on this list exceeds USD $1000 you will have to pay taxes in order to bring them into the country.

lima to cusco travel time

The TAM card is for you to give further information about your trip. You need to register your main purpose of travel: If you’re staying for a while as a tourist, check “holiday.” If this is the case, it won’t be necessary for you to fill out the option “Amount Expended During Your Stay.” Finally, write down the address you will be staying in. If you don’t know it, you can just write “Cusco.”

At the airport you will go through immigrations and receive a stamp on your passport. The agent will keep half of the TAM for their records. Don’t lose the other half since you will need it to exit the country.

Some of the questions you could get asked by immigrations: Why are you traveling to Peru? How long are you staying? Where are you staying?

This option can be time-consuming but it will be scenic and comfortable. The prices are around the same as flights. The best bus companies are Cruz del Sur and Ormeño . Cruz del Sur states you can find one way tickets for as low as USD $24 . For dates in December 2019, the price for one way was USD $56 .

With these companies, you can choose from two different routes:

1. Lima-Nazca-Abancay-Cusco

This is the quickest route and it takes between 18-21 hours. However, this route does have a reputation for bus hijackings and robberies. You should avoid it if possible.

2. Lima-Nazca-Arequipa-Cusco

This is the longer route, from 24-27 hours but it’s safer and smoother than the other option.

Your bus trip can also be broken up into stages so you don’t have to do the entire trip at once. This will also allow you to do some sightseeing in the Nazca Lines or stop in Arequipa where you can travel to Lake Titicaca and Puno.

Traveling to Peru for the first time? Discover here all the unmissable things to do and see .

How far is Cusco from Lima?

Lima is the capital city of Peru and sits on the country’s south coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The city of Cusco lies inland to the east of Lima, and it’s the gateway to incredible Machu Picchu. These two cities are 573 km apart on a map. However, they are separated by the formidable Andes Mountains .

You should take the winding road to the south to travel between the two cities. This puts the road distance from Lima to Cusco at about 1,100 km. This journey takes around 22 hours by bus, but it is much safer than traveling over the mountains. Many buses also include scenic stops along the way.

How to get from Lima to Cusco?

There is more than one way of getting from Lima to Cusco. You can travel between the two cities by airplane, bus, or train. All of these transport options have their advantages and disadvantages. The best way to travel from Lima to Cusco simply depends on your available time and budget.

A bus ride is the most common way to travel from Lima to Cusco. Although the journey takes almost a full day, it is comfortable, affordable, and safe. If you want to fly from Lima to Cusco, your trip will only take about 1 hour and 30 minutes, definitely the quickest route, but it will cost you more than double the price of a bus ticket.

A train ride is another viable transport option. However, there is no direct train from Lima to Cusco, so you must combine a bus and train trip.

This option provides the best value for money. Established bus companies provide you with a comfortable ride during long trips for an affordable price.

When you choose a reputable bus company, bus rides are also a very safe mode of transport. The buses from high-end companies are well-serviced, drivers rotate regularly, and passengers are picked up from designated safe areas.

Taking a bus from Lima to Cusco: what to expect

If this is your first time taking a bus in Peru, there may be some things you’re uncertain about. Here’s my guide on what you can expect from your bus ride from Lima to Cusco.

lima to cusco travel time

> Types of buses in Peru

There are many public buses that drive from Lima to Cusco. The lower-end companies mainly focus on locals and don’t offer services in English.

However, there are good public bus companies that are accessible to tourists and offer more comforts. Cruz del Sur, Oltursa, and Civa are some of the most reliable higher-end public transportation companies in Peru. All of them offer at least one daily departure.

> Amenities on the Lima – Cusco buses

The quality of the bus really is a matter of getting what you pay for, so stick to the mid and high-end companies for this long bus trip. A 22-hour ride can be tiring for your body, so rather spend that little extra to ensure you travel in comfort.

These buses include reclining seats, toilets, television, and air-conditioning. The companies advertising as a ‘Reclining Seats Bus’ usually includes a blanket and a meal on the trip.

Bus traveling through Peru's countryside. One of the most famous routes is from Lima to Cusco bus journey.

> Bus Routes and terminals

If you choose a reputable company, your bus ride should follow the longer but safer route around the south of Peru. Most public buses make as few stops as possible and complete the drive between 21 and 23 hours.

A downside of taking the public buses is that there is no central Lima bus station. Instead, each company operates from its own bus terminal that might be far from the city center. You need to plan transport to the terminal and make sure you arrive at the correct place and time.

When buying your bus ticket (more on that below), make sure to check all the information about the pick-up and drop-off points. If you still have doubts or can’t find the location on Google Maps, ask at your hotel or hostel reception, and I’m sure they will give you the right direction or even organize a transfer.

How to buy bus tickets in Peru?

Public buses travel from Lima to Cusco daily. Depending on the company, you can usually find rides in the morning and afternoon. The bus ticket prices range from PEN 100 to PEN 350 (around $25 to $80).

The most convenient way to buy your tickets is through a reputable website. We recommend using Bookaway . Instead of going to each bus company’s website or even local offices, you can compare prices, departure times, and amenities across bus companies on this one website.

We like the Bookaway platform because you can compare transportation options, read users’ reviews, book your ticket, and pay for it easily and in only one place. This means that you only need to show up in time on the day of your travel and enjoy the ride.

When buying your Lima Cusco bus ticket (click here) , you will see all the information about bus schedules, luggage, meals, and amenities that are included on the bus journey, travel time, and location of departure and arrival.

After buying your ticket, it can take up to 24 hours to get the confirmation. This happens because many operators don’t work with immediate booking. So If you want to ensure you get a ticket for a specific date, it is a good idea to book well in advance. You can search for the best bus ride for your Lima to Cusco trip by clicking on the banner below.

If you have any doubts about how Bookaway works and how you can pay for your tickets, check out the FAQ page .

The average flight time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will be flying from Lima Airport – Jorge Chavez International Airport to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco.

How to Get to Cusco: Planes, Trains, and Buses

View from outside the Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco, Peru.

You’re pumped about visiting Peru and ticking Machu Picchu off your bucket list. Still, the question of how to get to Cusco , an obligatory transit point en route to the Inca-built wonder, weighs heavy in your trip planning agenda. What are all the options? What’s the best choice for me, my family, and my friends?

Get to Cusco by:

  • Air travel : Flying to Cusco from Lima is easy and time-efficient.
  • Bus travel : Tourist buses are best for people with flexible itineraries. It’s a 22-hour trip by bus from Lima to Cusco!
  • Train travel:  The Andean Explorer is a luxury train that connects Cusco with Arequipa and Lake Titicaca in southern Peru.
  • Car travel? While you can rent a car in Peru , we don’t recommend it.

Air Travel to Cusco

The international airport in Cusco receives a handful of flights from Bolivia and Colombia, but it is small and not equipped to handle large aircraft. For this reason, many travelers coming from abroad fly to the capital of Lima first, go through customs and immigration, and then catch a shorter 1-hour 30-minute flight to Cusco.

Staying at a hotel near the Lima airport has many benefits if you have an overnight connection with a morning flight to Cusco the next day. You may think you can wait out your layover at the airport, but as frequent travelers ourselves, we know for a fact that having a comfortable room to sleep in takes away a lot of stress and makes the following day a whole lot more fun.

Here are Lima airport hotels we recommend:

  • The Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima Airport is not a bad place to land during an overnight layover. The hotel is connected to the airport, and chock full of delightful amenities that will get you on your morning flight rested and relaxed.
  • For budget-conscious travelers, the comfortable Holiday Inn Lima Airport is located just across the street from the terminal and offers complimentary shuttle service for guests.

Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (airport code: CUZ) is the only airport in Cusco . A handful of transport options from the airport include negotiating a ride with an airport taxi driver or taking a public bus outside the terminal.

If you’re traveling with Peru for Less, our representative will greet you at the airport and accompany you for the hassle-free transfer to your hotel in Cusco. Transfers to hotels in the historic center usually take 25 to 30 minutes. Sometimes a festival or procession in town results in closed streets and more traffic, in which case our company driver will work out the best alternate route to your hotel.

Bus Travel to Cusco

Long bus ride from lima to cusco.

The issue of long-distance bus travel in Peru’s Andean region is the curvy roads and the ups and downs that add significant time to a journey that looks much shorter on Google Maps. A direct bus from Lima to Cusco takes a whopping 21 hours or more! For this reason, many travelers reason it’s worth flying to Cusco instead of taking the bus. Flight prices can be quite a bargain when you factor in the time saved in traveling between distances.

Still, if you are on a tight budget or have a more open backpacker’s schedule, then busing long distances in Peru might be for you. Reputable bus companies like Cruz del Sur, Civa, Ormeño, and Oltursa offer upgraded seat options that make a trip pretty comfy without breaking the bank. Think reclinable seats, air-conditioning, some foodservice onboard, and individual entertainment screens.

Flying between these destinations is generally around the same cost as booking the Cusela Bus, with the latter option including the bonus of visiting attractions like the Raqchi archeological complex and stunning San Pedro Apostol de Andahuaylillas Church .

Our team crafted a trip to Peru for Patricia H., who gave Cusela rave reviews: “Another highlight for me was the bus ride from Cusco to Puno. Our guide on that trip was excellent, and the five stops unexpectedly amazing. We were blown away by Raqchi and would never have known anything about it if we had not taken the bus trip. Even the trip through Juliaca was interesting. Our first stop at the Iglesia de San Pedro Apostol was also incredible.”

Flight Connection from Lima

Lots of people who come from other countries want to go from Lima to Machu Picchu right away. But it’s not possible to go directly because there’s no direct way between these places. So, people have to take another flight from Lima to Cusco. This is usually what happens when people have a busy plan and just a few days in the country.

When this happens, remember that you have to go through a special check before your next flight. Also, it’s a good idea to get your tickets for Machu Picchu and the train early. You can do this through a travel office, online, or on the airline’s website.

Emigration Control

Remember to carry your passport and fill out the necessary immigration forms before landing in Cusco. The altitude might take your breath away, but don’t let it take away your documents!

Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport is like a busy meeting place for planes from faraway lands like North America, Europe, and Asia. Many of these planes stop here before going to other places. That’s why the part of the airport where they check who’s coming in (migration zone) is very careful and strict.

If you want to go from Lima to Cusco smoothly, remember two important things:

  • Custom Declaration: This is a special paper where you tell how much money your things are worth, like what’s in your bags and backpack. If the airport checker looks and finds things you didn’t mention, and these things are worth more than $1,000 in money, you might need to pay a fee to enter Peru.
  • Andean Card (Tarjeta Andina) TAM: This card is like a special note where you give more information about your trip. You write things like where you’re going, why you’re traveling, and where you’ll stay. The airport person keeps part of the card, and you keep the other part. It’s really important not to lose your part of the card because you’ll need it when you leave Peru.

Tips for getting by plane

If you’re planning to fly to Cusco, there are some helpful tips we’d like to share. These tips can also be useful if you’re traveling to other places in Peru. Check out these suggestions to make your plane journey more enjoyable:

  • Early Booking for Savings: If you want a flight that’s budget-friendly, consider booking your tickets about 6 months ahead of time. This way, you can usually find flights with prices lower than the usual. Keep in mind that flights might cost more if you travel during the busy season (June, July, and August). On the other hand, May tends to be the least expensive month for flying.
  • Timing Matters: Flights during the early morning and late night are often cheaper compared to those that leave during the day. If you’re looking to save money, try to choose flight times that fall within these periods.
  • Consider Low-Cost Airlines: If you’re looking for ways to save money, consider flying with airlines like Jet Smart Peru or Sky Airline. These airlines are known as low-cost carriers and they provide nonstop flights from Lima to Cusco airport.

By keeping these tips in mind, your plane journey, whether to Cusco or any other place in Peru, can be more cost-effective and enjoyable.

Getting by Private Car

Traveling from Lima to Cusco by private car is a unique way to explore Peru’s landscapes. There are a couple of routes you can take, each offering different experiences. Here’s a simple explanation of these routes:

Route 1: The Central Route

This route takes you through the center of Peru, passing through the highlands and valleys. It’s a longer journey but offers picturesque views and a chance to see some smaller towns along the way.

  • Lima to Huancayo: You’ll start in Lima and head east through the Central Andes. The road takes you through valleys and along the Mantaro River. Huancayo is a city you’ll pass through, and it’s known for its Andean culture.
  • Huancayo to Ayacucho: From Huancayo, you’ll continue south through the mountains, eventually reaching Ayacucho. This city has a rich history and is famous for its colonial architecture.
  • Ayacucho to Cusco: Finally, you’ll head southeast from Ayacucho to reach Cusco. This part of the journey takes you through more mountainous terrain, and you’ll get closer to the Andes.

Route 2: The Coastal Route

This route takes you along the coast of Peru, offering a different set of sights. It’s generally faster than the central route but might have fewer mountain views.

  • Lima to Ica: Starting from Lima, you’ll head south along the coast to Ica. This region is known for its sand dunes and wineries.
  • Ica to Nazca: From Ica, you can continue south to Nazca, famous for its Nazca Lines—large ancient geoglyphs in the desert.
  • Nazca to Abancay: Traveling southeast, you’ll reach Abancay. This part of the journey starts to lead you into the mountains.
  • Abancay to Cusco: Finally, you’ll head east from Abancay to reach Cusco. This leg of the journey takes you through some winding mountain roads.

Keep in mind that these routes can have varying road conditions, and it’s important to plan for stops, fuel, and accommodations along the way. Also, remember to have your vehicle properly maintained and equipped for the journey. It’s a great way to see more of Peru’s diverse landscapes, but it’s essential to be well-prepared.

The best way if we think about saving time and shortening the distance will always be to take a flight from Lima to Cusco that allows us to arrive in just 1 hour and 25 minutes, which gives us enough time to acclimatize quietly and then we can also consider the trip return from Cusco to Lima in the same way. There are companies like LATAM that have up to 18 flights per day (direct flight) and optional 2 extra flights (flights with stops in Arequipa).

The standard prices for flight tickets during the low season are between $65.00 to $70.00 dollars per person considering only hand luggage, but if you bring large suitcases the price varies on average of an additional $45.00 dollars. However, when it reaches high season it can even become $50.00 dollars more expensive for each flight ticket.

Remember: If the schedule is more comfortable and the date is more popular, the price is higher.

The second alternative to travel from Lima to Cusco is by bus, but it will involve a long time (18 hours of travel on average) and also a lot of distance since we consider that there is about 1100 km of difference. This option is ideal if you have a quiet trip with a visit to other cities such as Paracas, Ica, Arequipa or another.

The best company to be able to do this route is clearly Cruz del Sur and Oltursa due to the seriousness and commitment they constantly give us. For this 2024 we take into consideration that the bus ticket has an average cost of $55.00 dollars and up, depending on the company you choose and this includes your luggage in the hold.

WHAT AIRLINES FLY FROM LIMA TO CUSCO?

Nowadays, there are only three major airlines that you can consider to take this service from Lima to Cusco frequently during the day, these are:

  • LATAM: This should always be your first option when considering a flight from Lima to Cusco because it has different schedules during the day, so when flight cancellations occur due to weather or other reasons it is easier for them to reschedule the flight, travel for the next schedule so it is like an efficient backup in addition to providing constant help. It has flight schedules from 5 am to 10 pm, the only thing you should take into account is that it is one of the companies that has a higher price for its air tickets, however when you manage it with a company like Auri Peru you can get a better price.
  • SKY AIRLINE: Sky Airlines only has some schedule options during the day and has a price that is much more affordable in comparison. Additionally, it is important to mention that they can cancel your flight without prior notice. Unfortunately, the airline’s backup assistance is not the best.
  • JETSMART: We suggest to consider this as the last option after having searched in the previous ones and not finding what we want, this is because not having much experience in the market, the flights are not reliable and occasionally they are canceled and rescheduled with days in advance, if you have very tight times, then it is not a good option.

How To Peru

How to Get From Lima to Cusco by Bus

Lima to Cusco by bus is the most popular route taken by tourists visiting Peru. There are a few options to get to Cusco from Lima by bus, either directly or by taking shorter hops from place to place. If you go direct from Lima to Cusco the trip can take anywhere from 22 to 27 hours and cuts across the middle of Peru through the often dangerous Andes Mountains. But if you have time on your hands, short hops long the coast are a good way to see more of Peru.

I’ve made some basic maps of the three Lima to Cusco routes:

1: The safe and enjoyable way via Nazca and Arequipa

2: The direct and difficult way via Abancay

3. The alternative route on rough roads via Huancayo

1. The safe and Enjoyable Route via Nazca and Arequipa

A smoother but longer route from Lima to Cusco. This is a good route for exploring some of Peru’s most popular tourist destinations.

If you have the time, you can stop off in Paracas (close to Pisco) to visit the Ballestas Islands, Huacachina (close to Ica) to visit the incredible desert Oasis, or Nazca for a flight over the Nazca Lines. From Nazca, you can then head to the pretty colonial city of Arequipa and visit the Colca Canyon. From Arequipa you can either head straight up to Cusco or swing further east to Puno and Lake Titicaca, and then head north to Cusco.

ENTERTAINMENT TIP: If looking for fun at night, or to watch sports during the day, or even a taste of home, visit the Wild Rover Hostels in Arequipa and Cusco for great food, sports and beer! Entrance to their bars is free even for non-guests

Many bus companies run between these major destinations, making short stops an easy way to cruise slowly along the Arequipa loop from Lima to Cusco (again, Peru Hop is a good option if you want to do the trip in stages). If you need more information on the beautiful white city, check out the Official Arequipa Webpage .

2. Bus From Lima to Cusco via Abancay

Two primary bus routes exist between Lima and Cusco. The first, and shortest, goes via Nazca and Abancay. Barring problems, this winding route through the Andean highlands can be done in approximately 22 hours. However, as with many roads in Peru, bad weather can lead to mudslides which are in turn followed by road works, all of which can easily add a few more hours onto the trip. You’ll see numerous warnings online (and in some guide books) about hijackings and robberies along this route. This is definitely an issue, with a recent incident being reported:

According to Peter Coates of Peru Hop (a hop-on hop-off bus service running between Lima and Cusco):

“The longer route, down via Arequipa to Cusco, is the safer route. Near Abancay there is a stretch of two hours without GPS signal, meaning buses cannot be traced. Cruz Del Sur and Oltursa have both been hijacked in this exact spot in recent years. Even if my passengers want to skip past Arequipa, I still make the bus go via Arequipa, as it is definitely the safer route.”

Despite the potential problems, major bus companies still run directly between Lima and Cusco via Abancay. If you do choose to travel along this route, choosing one of the top-end Peruvian bus companies (Cruz del Sur etc) will minimize problems such as breakdowns, lapses in security and driver error. It will also make the trip a lot more comfortable (and it can get icy cold up in the highlands, so take some warm clothes on the bus).

3. Lima to Cusco via Huancayo, Ayacucho, Andahuaylas and Abancay

Here’s an option for people who like to do things differently. You can get from Lima to Cusco by heading east from Lima towards Huancayo and then down through Ayacucho, Andahuaylas and Abancay.

Reliable bus companies are not easy to find for this route, but you could have a look at Molina Unión (Empressa Molina), which I believe runs along segments of the route. There’s a good chance you’ll end up using a combination of small buses and colectivos to make your way from place to place. You might also find yourself stuck for a night in some locations, as some buses only leave once every two days or less. If you want to get stuck somewhere interesting, I’ve heard that the picturesque village of Lircay is pretty spot to stay; it’s about half way between Huancavelica and Ayacucho.

Expect some rough roads along this route and consider traveling by day for safety reasons. Huancayo is a good place to stop for a night or change buses (as far as I know, no buses go direct from Lima to Cusco along this route). As mentioned above, there is a stretch near Abancay in which hijackings have been reported.

Note: Travel times, road conditions and bus companies along all of the above routes are subject to change. This post will be updated over time.

Going from Lima to Cusco by Bus: 2024 updated information about Bus Safety, The Best Bus Companies to take and their schedules.

Travelling to Cusco from Lima takes around 24 hours on a direct bus with no stops. It is always recommended to divide up this long journey with stops along the way. Most public buses cross through the dangerous Andes Mountains so it is recommended to take the longer trip down via Arequipa for safety reasons. In this guide, we have included extensive information about Bus safety in Peru, the best bus companies to travel with and other benefits you should look out for when choosing the bus company you want to travel with from Lima to Cusco.

Public buses travelling from Lima to Cusco do this journey via Nazca, requiring to go across the Andes which is not a safe route. Although slightly longer, the best and safest route for this journey is via Arequipa. It is highly recommended to go this slightly longer route or to break up this long journey with other stops along the way in the south of Peru. The alternative option to this bus journey is to go from Lima to Cusco by plane, but this is usually expensive. This does turn out to be expensive and time consuming, especially considering the location of Lima Airport, which is quite far from the main hotel area of Miraflores. However, the Airport Express Lima Bus now offers a safe and cheap way from Lima Airport.

To get from Lima to Cusco by bus, it is recommended to cover the South of Peru and maybe make stops at places such as Paracas, Huacachina Oasis, and Arequipa. Below you will find important information to consider before choosing the best bus company to travel with on this route.

To travel from Lima to Cusco, there are 2 main options:

1 – Hop on hop off bus (e.g. Peru Hop , Green Toad Bus)

2 – Public Bus (e.g. Cruz del Sur, Oltursa)

The schedule and departure times of buses from Lima to Cusco are as follows:

Additional information to help choose what bus company to take:.

  • Some bus companies, such as the hop on hop off companies, do pick you up from wherever you’re staying, which is a much more secure and safer service rather than having to take local taxis. Going with public bus companies you will always have to travel to the terminal meaning there is the need to find out where the terminal is and organising transport to on the day of travel.
  • This varies from company to company. The best way to find out the safety record of any bus company is to put the name of the company with the words “hijackings” or “accidents” and googling the results. This way you will be able to see which companies are the best.
  • Most companies will have TV’s, toilets (how clean the toilets are depend on the company) and semi-cama or cama seats. All important factors which help determine the best company.
  • You will find while doing research that different companies offer different things. Some companies have special luxury class buses that come at a higher price, some companies, such as Cruz del Sur, have loyalty point schemes and other companies, such as Peru Hop, offer discounts on accommodation and other things. Make sure to check out a couple of different companies to see what benefits you can get and which will be the best for you.

The journey from Lima to Cusco by bus is a long and unpleasant direct journey, and should be divided up with stops where possible (maybe at destinations such as Huacachina and Paracas). All you have to do is choose the best bus company and enjoy your journey!

El viaje estuvo viven pero tienen que mejorar el servicio en el check in es demasiado largo y tedioso y el personal poco amable

I missed my plane because there was a lot of people during the migration process. The airline has the chance to care for their clients and they could get the passengers missing in the flight. I lost a day of work and Montfort transportation to go back home and go to the airport again. Unfortunately the airline doesn’t care about that. I use latam at least 4 times a year, so I guess I need to be treat better. In addition, one on my baggages didyarricw to my destination. So frustrated with this trip.

It was ok for the most part, it is missing something

Liked check in process To improve: food and beverages. Not second round was offered and meal had no salad.

Check in of my luggage which needed to be paid for was excellent. Thanks to Nora

As usual, LATAM tried to rip me off as a Gringo. They ignored the fact that having paid for my assigned seats, I was entitled to one free luggage per person, up to 10kg, and tried to charge me USD40 per item. While they ripped me off by $160 on my outbound flight (4 luggage pieces, which should have been free), I vehemently protested this time around. Note that they only request this from gringos, not from Spanish speakers. LATAM behaves like a racist extortion organization.

Very courteous crew, the food was good and the flight was on time.

This airline is full of junk fees. After paying to get my kids to sit with me, we were asked at the gate to check in our roller bags and pay $40 for each one. Peruvian passengers all took their roller bag in the plane. I don’t appreciate airlines who spot the gringos to tax them more.

Changed schedule without notice , canceled flight, mediocre competition, no help with the lost connecting flights.

Bare bones flight no entertainment minimal, if any food or beverage. warm beer only if you want a cocktail

Sky canceled our 8 am flight at 1 am. However Kiwi.com, who we used to book our flight (because sky airways online system would always give us an error message when we entered our payment information ) didn’t claim it was a cancellation but simply a 12.5 hour delay, and rescheduled our flight for 8:30 pm. This would have left us stuckk at the airport for 12.5 more hours, as we we staying at the Wyndham hotel at the airport. We were unable to request a refund this through kiwi because they don’t allow refunds for any schedule changes with less than 24 hours difference. Kayak and sky airline’s own websites showed the flight as cancelled. Only kiwi showed it as a very very very delayed flight. This way kiwi can keep our money. Ugh. We tried for hours to request a refund at the sky airlines website, but there was always an error at the very last step where you enter your refund credit card information. We ended up being forced to request refund vouchers which are good for 12 months but which we will likely never use. We ended up booking new flights with Latam airlines that got us out at 8:40 am. We will never use kiwi.com again.

my flight was canceled without reason or possibility of resuming another flight within the time frame of my trip I could not contact an adviser either by email or by telephone because no communication possible on the website I could not have the flight reimbursed I find this way of doing things by the company inadmissible I have lost €250 it is theft I do not recommend this company and I consider that you have not done your job because I have not obtained any help from your part

J’ai réservé avec Kayak. Sur mon billet de confirmation il était noté que j’avais droit à des bagages pour chaque passager mais on m’a fait payer 36 dolllars pour l’un des passagers.

Flight check in Lima to Cusco all went very smoothly and plane boarded on time. All in all a great experience for a low cost fare.

Don’t ever book with them. They are worse than Ryanair and you will end up paying more for the worse possible airline and deal with ignorant people who don’t know what “customer” is. Avoid at all costs

Check-in was a disaster. When I booked the flight, I thought that it included a carry-on bag but they ended up having us pay to check-in our bags. Our outbound flight included the carry-on so I didn’t understand why our inbound flight did not.

The app told us that carry on luggage was included but we were made to pay for it again at the check in counter, making it a very expensive flight. Not happy

I was charged 168 soles for kids stroller. We have travelled across the world and have never charged for the stroller. Horrific airlines and the staff was extremely rude. They wouldn’t let us board unless we pay the extra baggage cost. Never ever flying this airline and I would recommend the same for the others.

Avoid this airline. They are unprofessional. The captain left several passengers on ground due to covid restrictions which were never communicated. As a chilean, I am ashamed that this low level airline comes from my country. Remember this horrible brand and avoid it... Jetsmart

Lima is the starting point for many vacations to the incredible Machu Picchu which is reached via the town of Cusco.

Travelling from Lima to Cusco by bus is the most popular way to make the journey which takes about 21 hours.

We did the reverse as we had travelled from Bolivia ( La Paz to Cusco via Copacabana). So we can show you how to travel from Cusco to Lima by bus too.

Direct Bus from Lima to Cusco | Cusco to Lima

We recommend taking an overnight bus from Lima to Cusco as this will allow you to maximise your time, you can save money on accommodation and hopefully you’ll sleep through most of the boring bits of the journey.

The distance from Lima to Cusco is 1,100km (683 miles) by highway which is always paved but sometimes windy, narrow roads.

We felt the journey was safe. However, we slept through most of it!

What to Expect

If the bus from Lima to Cusco will be your first overnight bus in South America, we’ll explain some basics so you know what to expect.

Firstly, bus travel in South America is surprisingly luxurious. There are three seat options: Cama (meaning bed), semi-cama and a regular seat.

Think of a “cama” seat like a business-class seat on an airline. Your seat will recline to almost a flat bed, your seat will have an individual TV system + power plug and you will be served meals and alcohol along the way. The usual seat configuration for cama seats is 2 – 1 meaning in each row there are two seats together and one single seat on the other side of the aisle.

Semi-cama seats recline 140 – 160 degrees but don’t expect a personal TV or spacious seat. The seating confirmation is usually 2 – 2 with a double seat on each side of the aisle. This means the seats are far less spacious than the cama option. Often meals are served but not always.

A regular seat is still padded (it’s not like a park bench), but don’t expect a good sleep as you’ll be upright the whole way. Think of it like a seat on a budget airline like WizzAir , Ryainair or South America’s equivalent – SkyAirlines . All overnight buses in Colombia have A/C. Wifi – even were offered – almost never worked.

During our trip from Brazil to Colombia we travelled by overnight bus in cama seats wherever we could. Not only do they save you a night’s accommodation, they are relatively comfortable and you can wake up in a new city or town ready to explore the next day.

Ordering a ticket is simple and can be done at most Bus terminals with no extra fees (or online for a few dollars more). Consider learning some simple Spanish phrases to help you get around Peru and South America.

Bus Lima to Cusco: Trip Overview

Compare bus companies.

Superciva

According to customer reviews, the bus company provided helpful assistance with check-in and finding the bus. However, there were some negative aspects mentioned such as the longer than expected duration of the bus ride (26 hours instead of 22) and a lack of stops during the journey. This resulted in frustration among passengers until they were able to make a stop in the morning. Additionally, it was noted that although seats were comfortable, they weren't ideal for sleeping and there was excessive heat inside the bus.

Superciva Lima Cusco recent customer reviews

The bus got really hot during the night. There were curtains deciding the seats. It gave us some privacy while sleeping.

My luggage was loaded onto the wrong bus. It was pure luck I noticed it had been placed on a bus going to a completely different destination. I managed to rescue my rucksack, meanwhile the staff laughed

They really helped me with checking in and finding the bus. What I didn’t liked was that the bus ride was 26 hours instead of 22. There were no stops. Eventually people got angry and we could stop in the morning.

Cruz del Sur

According to 90 reviews, Cruz del Sur received a 4.2-star rating for this journey. Travelers were especially satisfied with the timeliness and the seats, but some complained about the wifi. Cruz del Sur ticket prices on this trip start at $49.00

Cruz del Sur Lima Cusco recent customer reviews

We arrived at the terminal early but was able to check our bags in. We left on time, was served a delicious dinner of rice with beef patty and side of vegetables as well as a small breakfast. The seats were very comfortable and the temperature was great. We were provided with a pillow and blanket. Overall it was a great and safe experience. I’m glad I went this route to get to Cuzco. Remember to bring own headphones for the onboard entertainment.

Can't fault the service, the staff or the coach. Would recommend for value and comfort.

Cruz del Sur is not one of the cheapest bus companies. But the service they offer to their clients is one with a lot of comfort.

Excluciva

Based on 15 reviews, Excluciva was rated 3.8 stars for this trip. Excluciva ticket prices on this trip start at $42.00, with the trip lasting on average 21h57.

Excluciva Lima Cusco recent customer reviews

The biggest complaint and problem was the bathroom. For a 22 hour bus trip and first class bus, the cleanliness and quality of the toilet needs attention and improvement. The service was excellent from Valeria.

Excellent service. We didn’t realize that the seats up top which cost a bit extra had more room and personal entertainment, next time we will buy the top deck tickets for sure. Bus bathroom did get a bit dirty but otherwise for a 22hr hour bus amazing!

Everything was fine. But the lady didnt want to gave us the WiFi password?! And maybe give the passengers 2 times the oppurtunities to go out the bus. 21 hours sitting is quite long.

Oltursa

According to 20 reviews, Oltursa received a 3.5-star rating for this journey. Travelers were especially satisfied with the seats and the departure location, but some complained about the wifi. Oltursa ticket prices on this trip start at $28.00

Oltursa Lima Cusco recent customer reviews

Bus ran on time, seats were comfortable. Only negative would be the lack of Wi-Fi (which it stated when booking)

My experience was great. I’m not very fluent in Spanish at the moment. So it was very reassuring when staff was bilingual. Now that may not always be the case but in my scenario it helped tremendously. The bus ride itself is very comfortable. Equipped with reclining seats and lcd screens to watch movies on your ride. As well as having an on-deck restroom, you’ll surely ride in comfort. Departure and arrival times are accurate, in fact I think we arrived earlier than our intended arrival. The only problem I experienced was a lack of onboard Wi-Fi. But other than that no complaints.

We booket online and chose our seats in front, but when we arrived our seats were in the back
