Born on the 9th of December, 1957, Donny Osmond is a pop singer hailing from Ogden, Utah, USA. He was one of the biggest stars of the 1970s when he was still a teenager and is still performing to capacity to this day.

It says a lot that a man in his mid-50s is the by-word for teen idols the world over to this very day. It says even more about his lasting influence on pop culture, considering how fondly remembered his days as one of the biggest celebrities on the planet are by millions of middle aged men and women (The latter quite possibly more so).

Yet the man with the most clean cut image in pop is a seventh son, and when he was one year of age his brothers Alan, Jay, Jimmy, Merrill and Wayne, were already singing together as The Osmond Brothers.

The oldest of them (Alan) may have been nine when they formed but that didn’t stop them from making a name for themselves at first as a barbershop act, and then as featured guests on Andy Williams’ variety show, a gig the band got in the early 60s.

When Donny was five years old he got his first solo slot on the show, singing “You Are My Sunshine”, and eventually he became the co-lead singer as the band hit their prime, selling an astonishing 80 million records over a single year by the early seventies.

However while he was still in the band he was also being prepped for a solo career, and his status as a teen idol, along with singles like "Go Away Little Girl" and "Puppy Love", made him one of the most famous people on the planet for a time.

He enjoyed a successful career both in television and music for years after that. His variety show with his sister Marie was a big hit in particular, but it wasn’t until the late 80s when he recovered his artistic mojo. This saw him working with the likes of Jeff Beck and Dweezil Zappa to make a grand comeback.

This was very successful in its own right, and since 2010 he can be found reunited with his sister Marie in a Las Vegas variety show celebrating both of their long and storied careers. You’re unlikely to find a performer out there with as much experience and love for his craft as Donny Osmond.

Live reviews

I suppose it’s almost poetic. A man with the most clean cut image since Superman, a man whose agent suggested spreading rumours of a drug addiction to toughen him up, a man who Michael Jackson told to change his name to boost his image… and he ends up in Las Vegas, Nevada. The gambling capital of the world and all around wretched hive of scum and villainy dressed up in glitz, glamour and rhinestone. Wow. It’s just as well that the shows that Donny Osmond is currently performing there with his sister Marie are among the high points of their entire career or the sweet irony would be far too much for anyone to take. Taking the audience on a trip through both of their greatest hits, Donny and Marie from their time in The Osmond’s to their seventies solo successes all the way up to their recent albums from the 2000’s. However this is a variety show through and through, so we get experiments with cover songs from every genre from opera to musical theatre, and as much crowd interaction as we could possibly want. The honesty is what sets this segment apart from other variety/revue shows playing just a couple of blocks down from them, both siblings tackle the numerous personal struggles they’ve had candidly, putting a highly respectable amount of trust in the audience and giving the show a highly personal feel night after night. It’s incredibly easy to be cynical about stuff like this, but this is one show that hits every mark it sets out to hit, and is an entertaining, moving and all around excellent show in its own right. Highly recommended.

The Osmonds are one of those universally recognisable family names like the Osbournes or the Kardashians. However the musical ensemble were never known for their controversy but more so their good vibes, great music and highly recommended live show.

Donny has always been the stand out of sorts, a pin up in his youth as the token 'pretty boy' saw him win a global female following who simply screamed throughout the shows. Years later and some of them seem to be in attendance tonight as Donny is greeted with similar screams as he steps out preceded by a vast live band. Fast approaching 60 years old, the musician attains a smooth demeanour onstage as he runs through a setlist comprising of pop, swing and soul which keeps the crowd cheering along. He has great abilities when it comes to interaction thanks to his long career across multiple art disciplines and by the finale the whole audience is totally on side to bellow out 'May Tomorrow Be a Perfect Day'.

We were at the show in the Glasgow hydro we had a great night and Donny was amazing can't wait until he cones back to Scotland again the songs he sang bringing back lots of memories

Donny Osmond announces Manchester gig on first UK tour in six years

He's spent a collective 333 weeks in the UK charts, which is... mad, really.

Donny Osmond is heading to Manchester on his newly-announced UK tour, which will be his first in six years.

The legendary music star is taking his Las Vegas show to arenas across the country this year, with tickets on sale later this week.

The 12-date tour will kick off at the Hull Bonus Arena on 28 November, before heading to venues in Nottingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds , Brighton and London.

Donny will touch down in Manchester for a show at the AO Arena on Wednesday 29 November.

His career spans a phenomenal six decades, over which time he’s earned 33 gold records, sold more than 100 million albums, had three UK number ones and spent 333 weeks in the UK charts.

The Puppy Love singer released his celebratory One Night Only live album in 2017, which includes footage from his sold-out tour from the same year.

His 2023 tour will mark 50 years since The Osmonds, the band that was made up of Donny and his brothers, first performed on British soil – to Beatles-like levels of hysteria from audiences.

In fact, The Osmonds were once banned from Heathrow after their arrival drew so many fans to the airport that a balcony collapsed beneath them.

Donny said: “Performing in the UK has always felt like coming home and I’m thrilled to be returning for a tour at the end of this year. 

“I’m bringing the whole cast from my new Las Vegas production that highlights six decades of entertaining. I can hardly wait to revisit those Osmondmania memories with everyone. The only difference is, they’re going to let me land at Heathrow this time.”

Highlights from his career have included a starring role as Gaston in Disney’s Beaty and the Beast on Broadway, performing at the Concert for Diana (seen by more than two billion viewers), and singing songs for Mulan .

He was also the first entertainer on the American version of The Masked Singer , before joining the UK version as a guest judge.

Donny recently released the album Start Again , a milestone 65th album for the performer.

He’s currently headlining a solo residency at Harrah’s in Las Vegas – a show he’s now taking out on tour.

Donny Osmond will perform at the AO Arena on Wednesday 29 November 2023.

The battle to ‘save’ Manchester’s iconic Night & Day Cafe seems to have finally come to an end, with a lengthy court battle wrapping up last month.

The historic venue has helped launch the careers of countless bands and played host to intimate gigs from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys, Wet Leg, James Bay and Elbow.

A couple of years ago though, a ‘new resident’ in the neighbourhood filed a noise complaint.

And then Night & Day Cafe was slapped with a Noise Abatement Notice by the council.

And then they took the whole thing public, and the row rumbled on and on and on.

The resident unwittingly at the heart of the media storm (some very famous faces were rallying behind the venue) said that the music was so loud it could ripple their toilet water, Jurassic Park-style.

In a lengthy piece recently published by The Mill , previous residents came forward and backed them up, saying that the flat was ‘uninhabitable’ and a ‘living nightmare’.

That piece also revealed that Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975, at one time came forward and offered to buy the flat for cash to put an end to the whole thing.

But three years after the noise complaint row hit headlines, Night & Day Cafe has been granted permission to continue operating as a gig venue and nightclub, with a few conditions that should end the back-and-forth between them and their neighbours.

Manchester City Council has maintained throughout the ordeal that it has had no intention of shutting down the Oldham Street venue, saying that the Noise Abatement Notice was issued as a ‘last resort’ after months of negotiating and compromising.

After three years of public statements and court hearings and occasional celebrity endorsements, it looks like Night & Day Cafe can finally go back to what it does best.

And if you also got lost in the whole storyline along the way, here’s a little refresher of what happened and when (it goes back a full decade…)

Night & Day Cafe’s noise row as it happened

January 2014 – Night & Day is first hit with a Noise Abatement Notice, with thousands (including Johnny Marr, Frank Turner and Tim Burgess) signing a petition to have it removed.

September 2014 – Night & Day is allowed to remain in operation, on the condition that owners meet with residents every three months and to discuss any issues.

August 2020 – A man buys a Northern Quarter flat that neighbours Night & Day Cafe. The world is still under lockdown restrictions and live music is all-but non-existent.

July 2021 – Restrictions lift and this iconic venue springs back to life with its first event. The noise is so loud inside the neighbouring apartment, the toilet water ripples, Jurassic Park-style. The residents file their first complaint, and meet with the owners of Night & Day to discuss a solution.

November 2021 – After multiple complaints, and multiple meetings with the venue’s bosses, Manchester City Council serves Night & Day with its Noise Abatement Notice. The council received hundreds of noise complaints that year – this was the only one that resulted in a NAN (the rest were sorted out by venues without council involvement).

November 2021 – Night & Day goes public with its Noise Abatement Notice and launches a petition to have the NAN removed. It gains almost 100,000 signatures and is shared by many famous faces in the music industry.

November 2021 – The resident at the centre of the row speaks to the MEN , saying their issue is with the club nights (not the gigs) and that he’s spent thousands of pounds trying to insulate his flat from the noise.

November 2021 – Local artist Paul Hallows, who works under the name himHallows, creates a series of tongue-in-cheek free posters about the whole situation.

October 2022 – Night & Day pushes its petition to have its NAN removed again, as the venue says its future ‘still hangs in the balance’. It claims that complying with the requirements of the abatement notice ‘would effectively ruin Night & Day’s business’.

November 2022 – Night & Day heads to court for the first time, with celebrities rallying around the venue. Jeremy Pritchard from Everything Everything, Elbow’s frontman Guy Garvey, and Matty Healy from The 1975 all lend their support.

November 2022 – Manchester City Council confirms it’s had five complaints from four different flats – not just the one at the centre of the row.

December 2022 – Blossoms perform at the venue to mark one year to go until the opening of the Co-op Live Arena. They have #SaveNightandDay posters plastered to their equipment.

Summer 2023 – Matty Healy pops up to the flat and tries to buy flat for cash, according to reports in The Mill. The sale fell through because The 1975 were sued for a large sum, after Matty kissed his bandmate on stage in protest of Malaysia’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws.

January 2024 – Night & Day heads back to court for a three-day hearing. There were several other court appearances over this timeline, but to be honest, we’ve lost track too. They said again ‘the source of the problem is that when the adjoining building was converted from warehouse to flats, no consideration was given to the pre-existing live music venue’.

March 2024 – It all wraps up quickly at Manchester Magistrates’ court, and the NAN is upheld. Night & Day can remain open, but will have to compromise.

A second wave of artists has been added to the lineup for this year’s Green Island Festival, the hidden gem Manchester music festival tucked away inside a garden centre.

Genuinely one of our favourite festivals anywhere in the region, Green Island Festival 2024 is already looking set to welcome more people through its verdant doors at

Taking place for its fourth year, the fundamentally grassroots Manchester music festival takes place across three parts over at Hulme Garden Centre just on the outskirts of the city centre and has quickly become a cult classic.

Promising three spectacular days and nights this summer and championing all things new and local on the music scene, you won’t find many more diverse lineups or crowds on this year’s calendar. Speaking of, here’s a look at who they’ve added as part of their second wave:

Taking place on 15 June, 27 July and 7 September this year, Green Island 2024 is now set to welcome nearly 100 acts from Greater Manchester and beyond as well as more than 1000 festivalgoers in their biggest edition yet.

Local experimental hip-hop jazz band Jointhedots have been added to the main stage in July, joining the likes of Def MaMa Def – two powerful women and rising stars of Senegal’s music scene – as well the smooth as silk R&B soul singer, Victoria Jane and contemporary jazz artist, corto.alto as headliners.

As for the other four stages spread throughout the beloved Manchester garden centre, which has served as a significant cultural hub in the Hulme neighbourhood since the Millenium, names like Ni Maxine , Ubunye the Zulu , Manchester legend of Finders Keepers Records fame, Andy Votel , upcoming DJ Jade Li and many more will be leaving their mark. Even local artist Stanley Chow is getting involved.

With the Forest Stage firming itself as instant success from day one and The Bandstand stage now a permanent fixture at the garden centre even outside of the festival, this thing just keeps growing every year and it won’t stay the best-kept secret for long, so don’t miss out what is sure to be a belter.

Better still, Green Island Festival serves up great food from local independent vendors every year, plenty of sunny cocktails and alcohol-free options, places to chill like the soothing chamomile bed and so much more. Trust us, when the sun shines on this thing it is unmatched vibes.

As well as live music at NIAMOS next door, there’s also a whole host of afterparties for each of the three all-day festivals over at YES in the city centre and the organisers are encouraging everyone to donate an extra quid for every ticket sale to local charity Eat Well MCR , because they’re a sound bunch as well.

In case we haven’t made it abundantly clear already, we’re very big fans of Green Island Fest not just simply because of the live music or the slightly quirky setting, but because of the all-day schedule, family-friendly approach and the immensely wholesome summery atmosphere it gives off every year.

DONNY OSMOND NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD AT THE AO ARENA MANCHESTER 29TH NOVEMBER 2023

Donny Osmond brought his 2023 UK Tour to the AO Arena Manchester , he promised a trip through his career a touch of his Vegas show, a montage of his life over the decades, more important to the loyal fans many who have travelled with him since those heady and manic days in the early 70’s, it would be close and personal.

Donny Osmond is a legendary music star who has been performing for over six decades. He is one of the biggest teen idols of the 1970s and has continued to reinvent himself over the course of his career. He has sold over 100 million records, received 33 gold records, and had three UK No.1s, nine UK Top 10s and 13 UK Top 40s. Now in his 65th year, Donny Osmond’s latest album is called “Start Again” , and it was released September 2021. It is his 65th album and his first solo full-length album in seven years. He co-wrote and produced all the songs on the album, a remarkable statistic. He has also starred in musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and provided the singing voice of Shang in Disney’s Mulan .

As the Band gather on the stage as well as the dancers Donny, emerged through the theatrical smoke screen, to rapturous applause from the predominantly female audience, opening with “Soldier of love”, and followed by “Sacred emotion”, and “Who”, Then it was the first real step back to those teen idol days, as “Puppy Love”, filled the arena with that feeling of love and emotion, for so many, was it really 1972? Next up was a real clever, well-rehearsed, as the Auto-rap-ography, a rap song accompanied by milestones, photos, and videos from his impressive career.

The next part of the show was a real gift to the fans, which saw him taking requests from the fans, although shorted versions of any song he has ever recorded, the first request was “The 12th of never”, and there was a real buzz of excitement, as Donny said” I have been told not to this”, as the crowd sensed what was about to happen. “I am coming down there with you”. Finding a spot and standing on a chair absolutely swamped by adoring fans, “Any dream will do”, was a mass singalong, trying to move around the floor, was a skill as the fans had made a mass exodus of there seats, “Too young”, a Nat King Cole cover saw our host making his way further foraging into the crowd before finally returning to stage.

Donny’s connection to his audience is special, stories antidotes and thanks for all he has received all these years from a fanbase that has stayed true and loyal, will we see any of our current artists survive 6 decades, and still filling arenas? Only time will tell.

A little segment of stories around, “Ben”, originally wrote for him, which led to Michael Jackson recording and “One bad apple”, led up to “We’re having a party”, brought us to the interval.

Returning to the stage with the huge backdrop, showing all the Osmond’s all singing, “Love me for a reason”, with Donny taking live vocals for his part, explaining that was the last video he ever did with his brothers. For the fans another powerful and poignant moment. Then it was a segment of his Vegas show, “Donnys back in town/Come rain or shine/Viva Las Vegas/Luck be a lady”, montage had the fans at the front of the stage and in full party mode.

The tributes where not over, Andy Williams , who gave the Osmond’s their break, was given a great accolade, as “Moon River”, was played, The Beatles “In my Life was the backdrop to his thanks to Marie, with some great videos of there shows. As “On and on”, and “Let’s all dance “ended a classic show, a musical journey few have ever had or embarked on, an artist that has reinvented a stage career, over the decades, for those loyal fans they left feeling the warmth of nostalgia, taking home that early Christmas present.

Donny Osmond announces huge UK tour for winter 2023 - tickets and dates revealed

Music icon, Broadway star, Disney legend, and all-round entertainer Donny Osmond is heading out on a big UK tour later this year.

Donny Osmond is celebrating six decades in show business with a UK tour this November and December.

The legendary Osmonds singer and actor will be bringing his famous Las Vegas show to UK arenas across the country.

This will be the first time Donny has come to the UK in six years, and 50 years since he first arrived in the country with his brothers.

He will be performing 12 shows at several major venues, including the AO Arena in Manchester and London’s Eventim Apollo.

The 65-year-old has a solo residency at Harrah’s in Las Vegas, where he performs classic hits such as 'Soldier of Love', 'Puppy Love' and 'The Twelth of Never'.

Fans will also get treated to stories from the music industry, and some brand-new songs.

Talking about his upcoming shows, he said: "Performing in the UK has always felt like coming home and I'm thrilled to be returning for a tour at the end of this year. I'm bringing the whole cast from my new Las Vegas production that highlights six decades of entertaining.

“I can hardly wait to revisit those Osmondmania memories with everyone. The only difference is, they're going to let me land at Heathrow this time.”

Event Details

Throughout an illustrious six decades long career, Donny Osmond has earned 33 gold records: selling over 100 million albums becoming a worldwide music legend.  He has had 3 UK No 1s, 9 UK Top 10s, 13 UK Top 40s and spent a staggering 333 weeks in the UK charts.  Osmond made history by celebrating 6 decades in show business with the release of his album, One Night Only: a live album accompanied by a DVD of his sold-out UK tour in 2017.

The 2023 tour marks 50 years since Donny and his brothers first performed in the UK.  Following Donny's solo success with Puppy Love (it stayed at No.1 for five weeks), their arrival provoked scenes of hysteria not seen since The Beatles the previous decade.  

After their first flight into Heathrow, Donny and his brothers were banned from further landings there when part of a balcony collapsed beneath the sheer number of fans who had shown up in a bid to get a glimpse of Donny. Gatwick wouldn't have them either, so Donny and his brothers had to fly to Scotland and take a train down to London.

The reaction to Donny and his brothers  - that hysteria - was always greatest in the UK. And that is why Donny has always loved touring here.

Music star Donny Osmond has announced his first UK tour in six years. The legendary singer will be bringing his highly-anticipated Vegas show to UK arenas from November 2023.

The 2023 tour marks 50 years since Donny and his brothers first performed in the UK. His return to the stage is an exciting, energy-filled musical journey and ticket-holders should expect to hear all the classic soundtracks.

How do I get tickets?

Tickets for the tour went on sale on Thursday 23 February at 10am. Tickets and VIP packages for all shows are available via Myticket.co.uk . Under 15's must be accompanied by an adult.

Standard seats range from £65 and £85 not including fees. There is an £11.05 booking fee if you’re looking for a seat at the London Eventim Apollo, as well as a £2.00 venue fee.

VIP Packages range from silver and gold to soundcheck. Silver packages cost £176 per person including fees and involves one premium reserved ticket in the first 10 rows.

How to get there:

Eventim Apollo is on Queen Caroline Street, W6, directly opposite the Broadway Shopping Centre in Hammersmith .

Nearest Tube: Hammersmith (Piccadilly, District and Hammersmith & City lines). The station is wheelchair accessible.

Nearest Buses: 9, 10, 27, 33, 419, 72, H91, 190, 211, 220, 267, 283, 295 and 391. Hammersmith bus station is wheelchair accessible.

Eventim Apollo does not have any parking spaces and they advise all customers not to drive and park in the surrounding areas.

Donny Osmond has become a worldwide music legend. He has sold over 100 million records, received 33 gold records and has performed to millions of fans around the globe during his illustrious six-decade long music career and shows no signs of stopping.

December of 2024 will mark the return to the stage for Donny at the famed Edinburgh Playhouse in Scotland as he, once again, headlines in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Donny Osmond has been performing live since 1963 when he appeared on “The Andy Williams Show” at the ripe old age of five.

Now 60 years later, the tireless singer is doing what he does best and returning to the road for a slew of huge concerts all over North America.
