In order to ensure a smooth and enjoyable cruise experience, it is important to be aware of the Carnival Cruise age policy before setting sail. This policy outlines the minimum age requirements for passengers, as well as any additional considerations for certain destinations or activities. By familiarizing yourself with these guidelines, you can avoid any unexpected surprises and make the most of your vacation.

Carnival Cruise Line has established age restrictions to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers on board. The minimum age to sail on most Carnival cruises is 6 months old. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, on transatlantic, Hawaii, and South America cruises, the minimum age is increased to 12 months. It is important to check the specific age requirements for your chosen itinerary before booking your cruise.

For children under the age of 16, Carnival requires that they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 21 years old. This policy ensures that young passengers have appropriate supervision throughout the duration of the cruise. For those aged 16 and 17, Carnival allows them to cruise without a parent or guardian but does require a parental consent form to be completed.

It is worth noting that Carnival also offers a variety of youth programs and facilities for children and teenagers. These programs are divided into different age groups, allowing kids and teens to engage in age-appropriate activities and make friends their own age. The Camp Ocean program, for example, caters to children aged 2 to 11, while the Circle “C” program is designed for 12 to 14-year-olds, and Club O2 is tailored for 15 to 17-year-olds. These programs provide a safe and entertaining environment for young cruise passengers to enjoy their vacation to the fullest.

When it comes to alcohol consumption, the minimum drinking age on Carnival cruises is 21 years old. Carnival strictly enforces this policy and requires guests to provide valid identification to prove their age. Failure to comply with this policy can result in denied service or even removal from the ship at the next port of call. It is important to note that this policy applies to all passengers, regardless of their age or whether they are traveling with a parent or guardian.

In addition to age restrictions, it is also important to consider any age-related requirements for specific destinations or activities. Some ports of call may have their own minimum age requirements for certain excursions or attractions. For example, certain water sports or adventure activities may have age restrictions for safety reasons. It is crucial to research and understand these requirements before booking any shore excursions to avoid disappointment.

Additionally, Carnival provides useful tips for traveling with a baby on a cruise, including packing essentials, meal options, and entertainment for infants.

Now, let’s move on to how to contact Carnival Cruise Line’s guest services for any further inquiries or assistance.

Contact Carnival Cruise Line’s Guest Services

To ensure a stress-free and enjoyable experience, reach out to Carnival Cruise Line’s guest services for any inquiries or assistance you may need during your voyage. When it comes to requesting a crib, contacting guest services is the best way to go.

They can provide you with all the information you need regarding alternative sleeping arrangements for your baby. Provide Information about Your Baby’s Age and Sleeping Preferences

When reaching out to guest services, let them know about your baby’s age and what your little one prefers when it comes to sleeping arrangements. This information will help them provide you with the best crib options for your baby on the Carnival Cruise.

Here are three important things to consider:

Baby Sleep Training: If your baby’s sleep trained, inform guest services about your preferred sleep schedule and any specific routines you follow. This will ensure a smoother transition to the new sleeping environment onboard.

Choosing the Right Crib: Provide details about your baby’s size and weight to help Carnival Cruise Line select an appropriate crib size. Additionally, you can inquire about the types of cribs available, such as portable cribs or cribs with adjustable mattress heights.

Crib Mattress: If your baby has any special needs or preferences regarding the crib mattress, such as foam or hypoallergenic materials, make sure to mention it to guest services.

By providing this information, guest services can better accommodate your baby’s sleeping needs. Once your reservation’s confirmed, you can rest assured knowing that your baby will have a comfortable crib awaiting them onboard.

Confirm Your Crib Reservation Before Boarding

Make sure you double-check your reservation for the crib before you board the ship. It’s essential to confirm the availability of a crib for your baby to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free cruise experience. Contact Carnival Cruise or your travel agent to verify that a crib has been reserved for your cabin.

Additionally, inquire about the dimensions of the crib to ensure it meets your baby’s needs. Knowing the dimensions will help you plan and pack accordingly.

Once you’ve confirmed your crib reservation and have all the necessary information, you can move on to the next step of preparing for your cruise, which is packing essential items for your baby’s comfort.

Pack Essential Items for Your Baby’s Comfort

Don’t forget to pack all the essential items your baby needs to stay comfortable during the cruise, such as diapers, formula, and a favorite stuffed animal.

Did you know that the average baby goes through about 6-10 diapers a day? It’s important to bring enough diapers to last the entire duration of the cruise, as well as any other baby travel gear you may need, like a portable changing pad or a baby carrier.

Additionally, make sure you have enough formula or baby food to last the trip, as well as any necessary bottles and utensils. Remember to pack a favorite stuffed animal or blanket to help soothe your little one during sleep time.

Speaking of sleep, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with your baby’s sleep schedule before the cruise so you can try to maintain it as much as possible.

Now, let’s move on to how to set up the crib in your cabin.

Set Up the Crib in Your Cabin

To ensure your baby’s comfort, it’s essential to properly prepare the sleeping arrangements in your cabin. Here are some crib set up tips to make sure your baby has a safe and cozy place to sleep onboard a Carnival cruise:

Start by finding a suitable location in your cabin for the crib. Make sure it’s away from any potential hazards such as doors or windows.

Once you’ve chosen the spot, assemble the crib according to the instructions provided. Check that all the parts are securely in place.

Next, add a mattress that fits snugly inside the crib. This will provide a comfortable sleeping surface for your little one.

Finally, find crib accessories such as fitted sheets and blankets to complete the setup. These items will add an extra layer of coziness for your baby.

By following these crib set up tips and finding the right accessories, you can ensure a restful and safe sleep environment for your baby on your Carnival cruise.

Now let’s move on to the next section about following safety guidelines for crib usage.

Follow Safety Guidelines for Crib Usage

It’s essential to ensure the safety of your baby by following the recommended guidelines for using a crib. When setting up the crib in your cabin on a Carnival cruise, there are a few tips for safe crib usage that you should keep in mind.

First, make sure the crib is properly assembled and stable before placing your baby inside. Check for any loose screws or parts that may pose a hazard.

Additionally, always use a fitted crib sheet that fits snugly around the mattress to prevent suffocation or entanglement. Avoid placing pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals in the crib, as these can also pose a risk.

Lastly, never leave your baby unattended in the crib. By following these important crib safety guidelines, you can enjoy peaceful nights with your baby on the Carnival cruise, knowing that they’re secure and protected.

What’s Included and Not Included in Your Cruise Fare!

An image showcasing a cruise ship with a clear division

I can’t wait to set sail on the cruise vacation of my dreams!

But before I embark on this exciting adventure, I need to know exactly what’s included and not included in my cruise fare.

From the comfort of my cabin to the delicious food options and thrilling entertainment, I want to make sure I have all the information I need to plan my budget.

So, let’s dive in and explore what’s included and what’s not in my cruise fare!

  • Cabin is included in the fare but amenities vary depending on cruise line and cabin type.
  • Buffet offers a wide selection of international dishes, while specialty restaurants come at an additional cost.
  • Free shows and entertainment are included, but paid activities such as go-karts and simulated skydiving are available for an extra charge.
  • Gratuities, spa treatments, and extra activities like go-karts and roller coasters are not included in the cruise fare and require separate payment.

Cabin and Accommodations

The cabin is included in the fare, so I don’t have to worry about any extra charges for my room. It’s great to know that I can enjoy a comfortable and cozy space without any additional costs.

The cabin amenities vary depending on the cruise line and the type of cabin chosen. Typically, cabins come with standard features such as a bed, storage space, a private bathroom, and a television. Some higher-end cabins may offer additional amenities like a balcony, mini-fridge, or even a butler service.

As for room service options, many cruise lines offer 24-hour room service, allowing passengers to order food and beverages directly to their cabin. It’s a convenient option for those who prefer dining in the privacy of their own room.

Food and Dining Options

I love the variety of food options available on a cruise, from the buffet to the main dining room.

The buffet is a great option for those who want a wide selection of dishes to choose from. They usually offer a range of cuisines, including international dishes, salads, soups, and desserts. It’s a casual dining experience where you can try a little bit of everything.

On the other hand, specialty restaurants are a more upscale option. These restaurants often have a specific theme or cuisine, such as Italian, steakhouse, or seafood. While these restaurants come at an additional cost, they provide a more intimate and gourmet dining experience.

Whether you prefer the variety of the buffet or the elegance of the specialty restaurants, there are plenty of dining options to satisfy every palate on a cruise.

Entertainment and Activities

With a wide range of entertainment shows, activities, and movies, there is never a dull moment on a cruise ship. Here are some key things to know about the entertainment and activities on board:

Free shows: Cruise ships offer a variety of free entertainment shows, including Broadway-style performances, live music, comedy shows, and magic acts. These shows are included in the fare and provide great entertainment for guests of all ages.

Paid activities: While many activities on the ship are included in the fare, there are also some paid activities available for an additional charge. These can include go-karts, simulated skydiving, and even roller coasters. These activities offer a unique and thrilling experience for those looking for a little extra excitement on their cruise.

Additional Charges and Gratuities

When it comes to additional charges on a cruise, it’s important to be aware of the cost of specialty restaurants and gratuities. Specialty restaurants offer a more upscale dining experience and usually have a cover charge. These restaurants offer a variety of cuisines and are a great option for a special night out. Gratuities, on the other hand, are the service charges that are automatically added to your onboard account. These charges typically amount to around $15 per person, per day, and are distributed among the ship’s staff. It’s important to budget for these charges as they are not included in the cruise fare. Additionally, spa treatments and services are not included in the fare and also come with an additional cost. So, be sure to factor in these extra charges when planning your cruise budget.

Keywords: specialty restaurants, gratuities, spa treatments.

Extra Activities and Excursions

Go-karts, simulated skydiving, and roller coasters are some of the extra activities on a cruise that may require an additional charge. These paid activities provide an exciting and thrilling experience for passengers seeking adventure on their vacation. Cruise lines offer a variety of options to cater to different interests and age groups. From high-speed go-kart races to indoor simulated skydiving, these activities add an extra level of excitement to the onboard experience.

However, it is important to note that these activities are not included in the cruise fare and require separate payment. Additionally, when the ship docks at various ports, passengers have the opportunity to participate in shore excursions. These excursions, which are organized by the cruise line, offer a range of activities and experiences at the destinations visited, such as guided tours, water sports, and cultural explorations.

Similar to the paid activities onboard, shore excursions also require separate payment. It is advisable to plan and budget accordingly to enjoy these additional experiences during your cruise.

What Is Typically Included in a Cruise Fare?

When booking a Carnival Cruise, inclusions vary. Generally, the fare covers accommodation, dining, on-board entertainment, and access to amenities like pools and fitness centers. • Children must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation in order to sail on trans-ocean crossings and remote itineraries, where there are more than 2 consecutive sea days.
  • For any cruise, regardless of length, if it includes at least one International port (Pacific Islands, New Zealand, New Guinea, Singapore and Hawaii), an infant must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation in order to sail.

Here’s the ‘ridiculous’ rule on cruise ships that travelers are blasting as a ‘rip-off’.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

When it comes to drinking on board a cruise ship , there is a rule that has even the most dedicated cruisers scratching their heads, claiming it is a “rip-off.”

Drink packages are a common offering on cruises, allowing guests to pay upfront to have the cost of alcoholic drinks at bars and restaurants on board the ship covered.

But there is often a catch – and it can be a terribly frustrating one.

If one person wants to purchase the drinks package, everyone in the same stateroom has to, despite the packages being charged per person, per day and strictly not allowed to be shared.

Two glasses of champagne placed on a railing overlooking a cruise ship at sunset

Australian couple Christine and Dave Russell, who have been going on multiple cruises a year for the past decade, found out how pesky the rule was when Ms. Russell decided to stop drinking 12 months ago.

It meant on three Carnival cruises , Mr. Russell had to miss out on purchasing the drinks package because Ms. Russell would have been forced to pay $111 ($72 USD) a day.

“When you times that by two and only one person drinks, it’s a lot of money,” she told news.com.au.

“I’m not going to drink $100 a day in soft drink. I don’t generally drink soft drink anyway, I only ever drink water.”

Ms. Russell described the rule as “frustrating” and “annoying.”

The Carnival cruise ship Valor heads up the Mississippi River in New Orleans, Wednesday, April 8, 2020

Carnival’s policy is that its “Cheers!” drinks package, including up to 15 alcoholic drinks a day and other non-alcoholic beverages, must be purchased by each adult assigned to the same stateroom.

No sharing is permitted.

News.com.au reached out to a number of major cruise lines that sail in Australia with similar conditions – including Carnival Cruise Line, P & O Cruises, Cunard, Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean – and not one could give a reason.

Carnival Australia, which is the parent company of seven cruise brands in Australia and New Zealand, including Carnival, P & O, Cunard and Princess, instead said it took its Responsible Service of Alcohol seriously and drink packages were optional.

“Our beverage packages are completely optional, and guests have the freedom to purchase beverages individually at competitive prices, allowing them to customise their cruise experience according to their personal preferences,” a Carnival Australia spokesperson said.

A sign is shown at the entrance to the headquarters of Carnival Cruise Lines in Doral, Florida

“Our beverage package conditions align with general industry standards which have been in place for many years, and mirror other hospitality industries when opting for a set menu or drinks package.

“Guests who are pregnant or don’t drink alcohol do not have to buy a beverages package, and we offer a wide selection of non-alcoholic beverages.”

Adam Glezer of  Consumer Champion , who advocates for Australian customers with issues in the travel industry, told news.com.au the rule was “unreasonable” and “a profit making exercise.”

While he believes drink packages on cruises are a brilliant idea, he said cruise companies should not be pressuring people to buy them if they don’t want to.

Mr. Glezer, who is a cruiser himself, said it was “disappointing but not surprising” the cruise companies had failed to give a reason for the rule.

“They haven’t given a reason because there’s no explanation that would paint them in a decent light,” he said.

“I’m fighting for this to be changed because a drinks package should be optional per individual.”

“If someone drinks, they should be able to purchase the drinks package without others in the cabin being obliged to purchase the same package.”

“I’ve met a number of people that have been quite annoyed by the situation.”

He believes a cruise company who decides to buck tradition and “get rid of the ridiculous rule will have an edge on their opposition.”

Virgin Voyages and Disney Cruise Line, which had their first seasons in Australia this summer, have both ditched traditional drink packages.

Virgin instead allows guests to pre-pay their “Bar Tab” and get bonus on-board credit for doing so.

It promotes its offering as being different to other cruise brands, with “no restrictive drink packages with unreasonable rules here”.

Disney’s deals include packages of bottled wine and a refillable beer mug offering, where guests receive a 21 oz glass mug and can refill it for the cost of a 16 oz beer at any bar on the ship that serves draft beer.

Royal Caribbean has a slightly different take on the traditional rule that the same drink package must be purchased by those staying together.

If a guest within the stateroom does not drink alcohol then a ‘Refreshment Package’ must be purchased, including soft drinks, coffees, tea, juices and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Travelers have shared mixed reactions to cruise drink packages online, with some warning it is not worth it and others explaining how they got their money’s worth.

The Carnival Magic is seen docked in Ocho Rios, Jamaica during day three of the ShipRocked cruise on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024

One Australian TikTok user, who goes by the handle “jasmintiexo,” created a detailed breakdown of every drink she ordered on a eight day Royal Caribbean cruise.

It showed she was able to get $US1151.50 (about $1760) worth of drinks for $US520 (about $795).

See how major cruise brands in Australia apply the rule on drink packages below.

Carnival Cruise Line

If purchasing the “Cheers!” alcoholic drinks package each adult assigned to the same stateroom must purchase it too, starting at $111($72 USD) per person, per day.

There is a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks a day.

Colorful holiday cocktails on cruise ship

If the drinks package is part of an offer you have received from Carnival, then it is applicable to the 1st and 2nd adults in the cabin only; if the 2nd passenger is not 18 years of age, then the “Bottomless Bubbles” package (soft drink and juice) will be assigned at $7.50 (about $5 USD) per day.

Carnival Cruise Line told news.com.au: “If one of the guests sailing together chooses not to purchase a package, they always have the option to enjoy beverages ala carte.”

Celebrity Cruises

Guests must purchase the same drink package for all guests of legal drinking age in the same stateroom. Packages may not be shared.

A non-alcoholic drink package will be added instead for teens 13 to 17 years old, pregnant guests, and recovering alcoholics or guests with a medical issue that does not allow them to consume alcohol.

Alcoholic drink packages start at $US89 ($136) per person, per day.

Each adult assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the same drinks option.

Sharing is not permitted.

On a five to 14 night cruise, the “Beers, Wines and Spirits” package starts at $US72 ($110) per person, per day.

P & O Cruises

If two or more guests aged over 18 years are sharing a cabin all guests must purchase the same drinks package.

There is a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks a day. Sharing drink packages is not allowed.

Alcoholic drink packages start at $99 ($65 USD) per person, per day.

Princess Cruises

The requirement for alcoholic drink packages to be purchased by more than one guest is not included in the updated terms and conditions.

However in its FAQ, Princess Cruises states third and fourth guests in the same stateroom are not required to purchase or be defaulted to the selected package of first and second guests in a stateroom, implying the first two guests must purchase the same package.

Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages a day and must not be shared.

The alcoholic drink packages start at $110 ($72 USD) per person, per day.

Royal Caribbean

If purchasing the “Deluxe Beverage Package” it is required that it is purchased by all guests of legal drinking age in the same stateroom.

Packages cannot be shared.

If a guest within the stateroom does not drink alcohol then a “Refreshment Package” must be purchased.

This includes soft drinks, coffees, tea, juices and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Prices can change depending on the sailing.

The alcoholic drinks package is said to cost between $US56 ($86) to $US105 ($161) per person, per day, and the “Refreshment Package” costs $US29 ($44) per person, per day (both excluding gratuity).

Cool Cruiser

Does anyone know Carnival's infant policy? I have been trying to find it on the website, but it is acting glitch today.

I am sailing in 58 days and have unexpectedly ended up with custody of my niece, who will be 4 mos old when we sail.

Any information is much appreciated.

This is from the website.  Unfortunately, you must be 6 months to sail, but depending on the birth date, you might make it.

Infants must be at least 6 months of age at the time of embarkation in order to sail. Children must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation to sail  on trans-ocean crossings and remote itineraries, where there are more than 2 consecutive sea days .

Infant Policy

  • Cruise fares are per person which includes children and infants. When traveling with 2 full fare guests, additional guests in the same stateroom pay a discounted cruise fare. Children less than 2 years of age are not required to extend gratuities.
  • Infants must be at least 6 months of age at the time of embarkation in order to sail. Children must be at least 12 months of age at the time of embarkation to sail on trans-ocean crossings and remote itineraries, where there are more than 2 consecutive sea days .
  • This policy is in place due to the infant's vulnerable health. While at sea or in port the availability of medical care may be limited or delayed. Early infant care, in particular may require specialized diagnostic facilities and/or treatment that are not obtainable during the cruise on board the ship or ashore in ports of call.

Thank you both. It looks like I will be cancelling my cruise that I have had booked for 18 months. 😥

My niece will turn 4 mos just a couple of days before we sail.

Cruiseloverkim814

Sorry you have to cancel..maybe you can move the date instead.

Like

The cruise is for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. Even if I change the dates, I can't get that back. Plus it is the next to last sailing on the Ecstasy out of Charleston. Likely won't be able to duplicate the itinerary.

This blows.

And I may be prematurely panicking. We might have one other option for child care, but it is a long shot and with such a short time frame in which to work everything out.

Anyway, I am still trying to wrap my brain around everything that has happened in the last 24 hours.

I would say she's lucky to have you, and I hope it all works out.

Thanks

I am so sorry for this but you are doing something so special in caring for your niece!

pyropoodle

Bless you for taking on a newborn.  hopefully you booked with insurance or something that is at least partially refundable or maybe carnival would work with you to change the dates.

if you can't find a babysitter, send her to NYC.  i'll babysit for you!  I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old, so there is always room for 1 more.

As someone who’s been in your position, I completely understand the major life change you’re undertaking.  You may not be able to sail on the Ecstasy, but isn’t the Sunshine moving to Charleston?  We had to cancel our cruise for next week to a cruise in May on a different ship. It was $50 pp but was far better than losing everything that was paid.  Could that be an option for you?

I hope everything works out, and congrats on the addition to the family!  Having my girls for those three years blessed me in ways I could never imagine.

I do believe a child needs to be at least 6 months old to sail. Sorry. Perhaps you have a relative that can care for infant while you’re gone.

That's a bummer.  Is there nobody in your family or a close friend that would keep your niece while on the cruise?

We had considered taking our daughter and grandson with us on a cruise, so I knew he had to be at least 6 months old.  He's already 7 months old now, but he wouldn't be old enough to be dropped off for the children's program until he's 2 years old.  I hope you are able to figure out alternate plans.

We cruised one year (wayback in 2007) with our daughter and granddaughter (who was 10 months old) while her hubby was deployed to Iraq, and although we could not leave the baby for any Carnival Camps, they DID have certain hours they would babysit there for a fee. We utilized it daily for a couple hours to give our daughter time to enjoy the ship. They even offered a service if taking an excursion, so we utilized it for a brief time, to get off and walk around. Our daughter did an excursion, but we headed back and got baby and walked with her to a nearby beach. If this service is something someone is interested in, I’d check to see if it’s still available.

Unfortunately, we don't have any family here. Just me and my son and my parents......who are all going on the cruise. And my brother, whose baby I have.

It is a very complicated situation. But we are having a family meeting this week to try and figure out what to do. All is not lost just yet. I was very upset and panicking when I posted yesterday....hadn't had a chance to take a step back from the situation.

Thank you to all for your kind and encouraging words.

Jenjer

I want to wish you the best of luck and I hope this bump in the road will just be the start to a fulfilling new adventure. Sometimes the most beautiful things start out very hard. What a lucky little girl to have such an amazing aunt.

Wait, your brother is going on the cruise, while you stay home with HIS baby? He should care for his own child, and you should take the family trip you’ve had planned for a year and a half.

It actually sounds like it’s her parents and son that were going on the cruise. Not the brother. She just mentioned that she had the brother’s baby. I wish her a world of good luck, as this sounds like it could be a rough time for their whole family, whatever the reason. One thing she might not have been aware of when asking if 4 month old could go on cruise, was that she’d have to pay a cruise fare for the baby, and have Carnival add the baby to her cruise, not just bring it onboard. But that’s all water under the bridge, if the baby is too young to go.

Keep us posted.  I’m rooting for You to be able to go!! I get it though. If anything were to happen to anyone in my family I end up with all the kids lol. I always really really hoped they all lived long healthy lives 😆 .  I was listed in everyone’s wills to have custody of the children. Thank goodness most are grown now.  Whew  thankful that little girl has you. Gosh wish I could help ya out !

Oh no......I was saying that my brother is the only other family member we have close by. No way would I keep his baby while he went on my cruise.

It is just a very complicated situation.

Yes, I found that out as well through this whole process.

Right now, we are letting the dust settle a little bit and then we will figure out what to do. My parents are going no matter what happens since the whole thing is for their anniversary.

We might possibly be able to get my niece's other grandparents to take her while we are gone.....but that is a HUGE might. I will keep you posted.

I hope it all works out for you!  Our daughter, son-in-law and grandson live 800 miles away from us, so any chance we can spend time with them is precious.  He's a great baby, but I knew my daughter would enjoy having some Mommy time too.

Good luck!!!

pntnnc

Also I can tell you that Carnival is no exceptions.  My daughter found out she was pregnant after we booked a 11 person family cruise.  I called and asked and they make no exceptions due to medical problems that could arrise with one so little.  She ended up finding a friend/babysitter that she could leave him with as he also was 4 months.  He did just fine but she was happy when it was time to get home.  We foster so if you are going through foster system with neice there is also respite available for those kind of situations.  We havent had to use but we have done respite for families when the had something planned before a placement.

Hello all....just wanted to give you a quick update. We are very close to having arrangements made so that my son and I will still be able to go.

54 days to get it worked out. Keeping my fingers crossed.

carnival mardi gras visiting the port of st thomas

Cruising with Carnival is easy! Vaccines and testing are not required for most U.S. and European departures.*

Guests sailing to and from Australia must visit the Australia Have Fun. Be Safe. page for protocols specific to those cruises.

VACCINATION & TESTING

Although vaccines are not required, we encourage all guests, 5 years of age and older, to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, when eligible, and carry proof of vaccination. Testing is not required for either vaccinated or unvaccinated guests. However, we encourage all guests, 5 years and older, to take a pre-cruise COVID-19 test within three days of their cruise.

*Carnival Luminosa - 9/14/2023: This Carnival Journeys Transpacific voyage will be calling on certain destinations (including Australia) which are still observing COVID-19 protocols. Below are more details regarding vaccination and testing requirements for this voyage:

  • Guests, aged 12 years and older, must be fully vaccinated to sail. Additionally, we strongly recommend that guests get a booster, if eligible.
  • All guests, aged two years and above, regardless of vaccination status, are required to take a self-administered Rapid-Antigen Test (RAT) within 24 hours of boarding or a PCR test within 48 hours prior to boarding. Evidence of a negative result is required to cruise.
  • Vaccine exemptions are required for guests, aged 12 years and older, with medical conditions preventing vaccination. If you, or a member of your party, meet the criteria for a vaccine exemption, you may apply here .
  • Full details regarding vaccination and testing requirements and FAQs are available on the Australia Have Fun. Be Safe. page .

DESTINATION REQUIREMENTS

We will continue to monitor the protocols and requirements of the destinations we visit and will update our guests directly and this page of any changes.

Carnival Cruise Pregnancy Policy: What Expecting Mothers Need to Know

Planning a cruise while pregnant can be an exciting and memorable experience. However, before setting sail, it’s crucial for expecting mothers to familiarize themselves with the Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy. Understanding the guidelines and restrictions can help ensure a safe and comfortable journey for both mom and baby.

To provide a clear overview of the Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy, we have compiled a table summarizing the key points:

| Key Points | Details | | — | — | | **Travel Restrictions** | Pregnant guests are allowed to sail up to their 24th week of pregnancy for cruises that are 3-7 days long. For cruises 8 days or longer, the cutoff is the 23rd week of pregnancy. | | **Medical Documentation** | All pregnant guests are required to provide a medical certificate signed by their healthcare provider, confirming their fitness to travel. The certificate must be issued no more than 7 days before the cruise departure date. | | **Medical Facilities** | Carnival Cruise ships are equipped with medical facilities and staff trained to handle basic medical concerns. However, it’s important to note that some specialized medical services may be limited onboard. | | **Travel Insurance** | It is highly recommended for pregnant guests to obtain travel insurance that covers any unforeseen medical complications during the cruise. | | **Excursion Limitations** | Certain shore excursions and activities may have restrictions for pregnant guests. It is advised to check with the cruise line and excursion providers for specific guidelines. |

Before making any travel arrangements, it’s essential for expecting mothers to consult their healthcare provider to ensure their pregnancy is considered low-risk for travel. Additionally, it’s important to note that the Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy may vary for different cruise lines, so it’s always advisable to review the specific guidelines provided by the cruise line directly.

For more detailed information about Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy and guidelines, refer to the official Carnival Cruise Line website [1]. Additionally, the American Pregnancy Association offers valuable insights and tips for traveling during pregnancy [2].

By understanding the Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy and taking necessary precautions, expecting mothers can enjoy a memorable and safe cruise experience. Remember to prioritize your health and consult with your healthcare provider before embarking on any cruise journey.

Do I have to tell the cruise line I am pregnant?

When planning a cruise with Carnival Cruise Line, it is important for expecting mothers to be aware of the cruise line’s pregnancy policy. According to Carnival’s guidelines, it is not mandatory for pregnant women to disclose their condition before booking a cruise. However, it is highly recommended to inform the cruise line as early as possible to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. This allows Carnival to provide necessary assistance and make appropriate accommodations. For pregnancies beyond 24 weeks, a medical certificate is required. It is crucial to review Carnival’s pregnancy policy in detail before making any travel arrangements to ensure a smooth and worry-free vacation. For more information, please visit Carnival’s official website: https://www.carnival.

Does Carnival ask for proof of pregnancy?

Carnival Cruise Line requires expecting mothers to provide proof of pregnancy before embarking on their cruise. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of both the mother and the unborn child. Proof of pregnancy can be provided in the form of a doctor’s letter stating the estimated due date and confirming that the mother is in good health to travel. It is important for pregnant women to consult with their healthcare provider before making any travel arrangements, as certain medical conditions may restrict their ability to cruise. For more detailed information on Carnival Cruise’s pregnancy policy, please refer to their official website: https://www.carnival.com/about-carnival/legal-notice/pregnancy-policy.

What if I don t have my birth certificate for a Carnival cruise?

If you don’t have your birth certificate for a Carnival cruise, don’t worry! Carnival Cruise Line has alternative options for verifying your identity and age. You can present a valid passport or government-issued identification card, such as a driver’s license. These documents will serve as sufficient proof of your identity and age requirements for boarding the ship. For more information on acceptable forms of identification, please refer to Carnival Cruise Line’s official website: www.carnival.com/faq/identification-requirements.

Why can’t you cruise after 24 weeks pregnant?

Carnival Cruise has implemented a policy that restricts pregnant women from cruising after they reach the 24th week of pregnancy. This decision is based on the potential risks and limited medical facilities available onboard. It is crucial for expecting mothers to prioritize their health and safety, as well as that of their unborn child. Carnival Cruise’s policy aligns with the recommendations of medical professionals, who advise against long-distance travel during the late stages of pregnancy due to potential complications and the risk of preterm labor. By adhering to this policy, Carnival Cruise aims to ensure the well-being of all passengers and provide a worry-free experience. For more information, please refer to Carnival Cruise’s official pregnancy policy page (https://www.carnival.com/help/faq/pregnant-guests).

Carnival pregnancy form

Carnival Cruise Line has a comprehensive pregnancy policy in place to ensure the safety and well-being of expecting mothers during their cruise. Prior to sailing, all pregnant guests are required to complete and submit a pregnancy declaration form. This form helps Carnival assess the level of risk associated with sailing while pregnant and enables them to provide appropriate support and assistance. It is important to note that Carnival does not allow guests who will be in their 24th week or further along in their pregnancy to sail. Additionally, certain medical conditions and complications may require a physician’s approval prior to cruising. For more detailed information on Carnival Cruise Line’s pregnancy policy and to access the pregnancy declaration form, please visit [insert reliable source/link].

In conclusion, it is crucial for expecting mothers to have a clear understanding of Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy before planning a cruise vacation. Carnival Cruise Line prioritizes the safety and well-being of their guests, including pregnant women, by implementing certain restrictions and guidelines. By familiarizing yourself with these policies and guidelines, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience during your cruise.

First and foremost, it is important to note that Carnival Cruise Line does allow pregnant women to travel on their ships. However, there are specific limitations based on the stage of pregnancy. Women who are in their 24th week or later at any point during their cruise are not permitted to sail. This policy is in place to safeguard the health of both the mother and the unborn child.

To comply with this policy, Carnival Cruise Line requires pregnant guests to provide a medical certificate, signed by a healthcare professional, confirming the stage of pregnancy and the woman’s fitness to travel. This certificate should be obtained within 14 days prior to embarkation. It is essential to obtain this documentation to avoid any complications or denial of boarding.

Additionally, expectant mothers should be aware that certain cruise itineraries may have specific restrictions and guidelines due to medical facilities and availability. It is advisable to review the specific itinerary and consult with Carnival Cruise Line directly or your healthcare provider to ensure a safe and suitable travel plan.

During the cruise, it is important for pregnant women to prioritize their health and well-being. Carnival Cruise Line recommends that expectant mothers have travel insurance coverage that includes pregnancy-related medical expenses and emergency medical evacuation. This ensures peace of mind and financial protection should any unforeseen medical situations arise.

Furthermore, pregnant women should be mindful of their activities and take necessary precautions while on board. It is advisable to avoid strenuous activities or excursions that may pose a risk to the pregnancy. Participating in activities such as zip-lining, scuba diving, or horseback riding may not be suitable during this time. Instead, opt for more gentle activities such as swimming or relaxing on the deck.

Carnival Cruise Line provides excellent onboard medical facilities and services, offering peace of mind to expecting mothers. The medical staff is trained to handle emergency situations and provide necessary medical care. However, it is always recommended to carry any required medications or medical supplies with you, as availability may be limited on board.

It is worth noting that Carnival Cruise Line’s pregnancy policy may be subject to change, and it is advisable to check their official website or contact their customer service for the most up-to-date information. Additionally, consulting with your healthcare provider is crucial to ensure that your specific pregnancy circumstances are taken into consideration.

If you are an expecting mother planning a cruise vacation, it is essential to be well-informed about Carnival Cruise pregnancy policy. Carnival Cruise Line makes controversial boarding policy clear

C ruise ship passengers have to pay more attention than people taking land-based vacations. You might, for example, stay at Disney World past park closure or even after transportation stops running.

When that happens, you may need to take an Uber or a Lyft back to your hotel, but there's no fear that the hotel will not be there when you find your way back. Cruise ships. however, have set departure times and they generally leave exactly when they're scheduled to leave.

That can be tricky for passengers as sometimes ship time and local time might be different. Back when people wore traditional watches, it was easy enough to simply set your watch to ship time and leave it at that.

Local time only mattered if you booked a reservation or excursion and needed to be there at the right time. Smartphones and watches, however, generally automatically update to local time (although you can set them not to).

That can lead to situations where a passenger knows they need to be back on the ship 5 p.m. but may not know when 5 p.m. is. Sometimes, of course, passengers simply cut it to close (or maybe have too much to drink) and end up being what's known as pier runners — passengers running on the dock to board the ship before it leaves.

A recent situation where Norwegian Cruise Line NCLH left some passengers behind led to Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald commenting on the issue.

Carnival will leave you behind

Carnival, and all cruise lines, pay for the time they are docked in port. In most cases, they will wait for passengers who are late that booked a cruise-line sponsored excursion (technically, Carnival and other cruise lines promise to get those passengers back to the ship, which could mean at a later port).

People who book their own excursions or simply visit the port on their own have no special protections. The cruise lines, can (and will) leave them behind. That's what happened to some Norwegian Cruise Line passengers recently and Heald commented on it on his Facebook page.

"I had to check to see if I was actually also the Brand Ambassador of NCL. I am not," he wrote. "Now I say that because I was asked, questioned, and indeed bollocked by various people about a news story that went virus or whatever it's called about some NCL guests that had missed the ship and had been 'left in Africa.'"

Heald shared that Carnival likely would have left at the appointed time as it is the passengers' responsibility to be back on the ship on time.

"Anyway, I explained that all the cruise companies make it very clear that they will wait if you’re on one of their excursions but not otherwise. These guests were told what time they had to be on board and they weren’t. It really is that simple," he added.

Carnival gets some passenger pushback

Heald shared a response from one of his followers:

"That was the basis of my reply and wow 'P' did not like that and went full Glitterknickers on me. Brilliantly though she wrote this: 'You have no heart John Heald. The passengers have been punished for having time blindness and accommodations should have been made. The ship should have waited!'" he shared.

Heald made it clear that he was not overly sympathetic to the passengers in this case.

"Can I say again that I do not work for NCL? It’s not my sodding fault. However, time blindness...ummmmm, OK. And as far as 'accommodations' being made, NCL had indeed made some. They are called 'clocks,' he wrote.

Cruise lines do sometimes stay docked past their planned time. Sometimes weather can force a longer stay while medical emergencies may also delay departure.

Heald's post garnered over 350 comments and most agreed with the cruise line.

"Time blindness is a thing, yes, but you just have to be extra aware. My husband is vigilant with the time. I with ADHD who struggle also always am mindful of the time. I hate being late so always try to be early. At what point does a ship stop waiting, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, you make an exception for one you open the floodgates," wrote Stacey Lanigan.

In addition to accruing additional costs for a longer port stay, a cruise ship may not be able to make its next stop if it is delayed too long.

"John it wouldn’t matter what time people had to be back there’s always those who are late. It’s part of the fun having a balcony, and watching them run! Just follow the rules and there won’t be a problem," Cindy Lane Sells added.
