I'm David Leiter , the guy behind this website. I'm an American who's been traveling the world full time for 8 years now.

I started this travel blog in 2019 to document my own international trips, share my photos, and help others learn how to travel the world and find some really good spots off the beaten path.

I'm currently based in Bali , Indonesia , where I met my wife Intan, who’s a Bali local. Now she joins me on these wild and crazy adventures too.

Together, we've done some bucket list hikes , climbed active volcanoes , seen exotic wildlife , and visited some spectacular castles , temples , and monuments around the world.

I've worked with and been featured by BBC Travel , NBC News , Time , and other big companies. I also sell some photo prints from my travels now.

I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list. I hope this world travel blog can help and inspire you in your own journeys as well!

Why i believe in, solo female travel.

Independence

Travelling alone as a woman can be incredibly empowering and also a huge confidence-booster. My goal is to trigger this urge by provoking discussions and digging deeper on why solo travel is still very much considered to be an odd choice. Breaking news: it’s not.

Whether you dream of Costa Rica’s wild jungles, Kyoto’s historic streets, New Zealand’s fjords, Paris’ nightclubs or New York’s diviest bars, there is no compromise to be made here. No schedule, no detours, no needs to cater to… but yours. Because, hey, you’re the one in charge.

Going it alone comes with unlimited freedom, but also a few additional responsibilities. Research ahead of time, pick the right destinations, do your homework, prepare accordingly, and, with my useful solo travel tips, finally have the trip you’ve always dreamed of.

The site is founded by “Chief Idiot” — Tom Morgan. Apparently, most of the crazy ideas featured on the blog were his. 

Every page on the site reflects Morgan and his team’s wackiness and passion for great adventures. They do, host, and document daring outdoor activities on air, land, and sea — plus, a whole lot of charity.

Their audience can also participate in these activities, which can be held in various parts of the globe. The “Monkey Run,” for example, is an event where participants race through dirt trails on tiny bikes.

The bottom line is, it’s hard to come up with unique ideas that set you apart in the blogging landscape. The Adventurists, on the other hand, managed to do so multiple times.

One of my favourite parts of being a travel blogger is showcasing my home city via my blog. I mean, I adore travelling the world, but where do I know better than the city I live in?

I’ve built up lots of London travel guides on my blog, sharing my favourite quirky things to do in the city, where to eat , and some weird and wonderful places to stay too.

First time visitors should tick off the obvious sights like Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Hyde Park, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. You’ll probably go on a free walking tour to see a few other sights too. But… after you’ve seen the obvious ‘in every movie about London’ landmarks, where’s next?

When Is The Best Time To Visit London?

England is a country obsessed with weather. Don’t know what to say? Comment on the weather! Us Brits talk about it a lot, but contrary to what you may have heard, we don’t have awful weather in London. It’s just a little unpredictable and varies from region to region.

You can expect average lows of around 5 °C in London in January / February, and highs around 25°C in July / August.

If you’re wondering when is the best time to visit England, I’d suggest planning a trip in May or June. The weather tends to be warm and sunny, rain is at a minimum and it’s out of peak season, so you shouldn’t be battling any big crowds either. The longest day is around 20th June every year, so it’s a time you can enjoy maximum daylight hours exploring!

I’ve never been a fan of November in London. It’s the wettest month of the year, and while December can be pretty cold, there’s a Christmas magic in London which always puts a smile on my face!

Four Seasons, in partnership with the esteemed luxury yachting company Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings Ltd, Joint Owner/Operator of Four Seasons Yachts, and esteemed Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, is forging ahead on a new journey of opulence at sea. As anticipation mounts for the inaugural season of Four Seasons Yachts, unveiling the first 10 distinctive voyages beckons travelers to embrace the Caribbean and Mediterranean’s iconic islands and hidden treasures as their playground. Each voyage features meticulously crafted suites designed to be guests’ home away from home throughout the journey.

Four Seasons Yacht Overview

The inaugural Four Seasons Yacht will feature 95 suites with terrace decks, ranging from 100 square feet for the deluxe suite to nearly 5,000 square feet for the expansive Funnel Suite, which is the Yacht’s most spacious accommodation.

The Funnel Suite spans four levels and boasts over 9,500 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor living space, complete with a private wading pool and a dedicated spa area exclusively for guests. This suite offers vertical and horizontal connectivity, allowing for one of the largest continuously connected living spaces at sea. Its floor-to-ceiling wraparound curved glass window modules, comprising the largest contiguous piece of glass at sea, provide stunning 280-degree views.

A groundbreaking feature of this Yacht is its onboard transverse marina, providing guests with seamless access to various water sports activities. This innovative marina design incorporates expansive openings from port to starboard, featuring spacious platforms and tiered lounging decks on both sides.

Guests can indulge in exclusive sailing, snorkeling, and windsurfing experiences. Additionally, the ship offers rentable custom-crafted “sea limousines” for transfers, coastal tours, and a pair of beach landers, enhancing the signature marina experience, accessible at most anchor ports.

Another amazing feature is the canoe aft deck, which has a 66-foot pool, is one of the largest at sea, and is a gathering place for guests. The salt-water pool can be quickly emptied, the floor raised, and converted into a multi-function area for performances, fashion shows, and weddings, to name a few options.

The Maiden Four Seasons Yacht Voyage

In its inaugural year, Four Seasons Yachts will venture to over 130 unique destinations spanning more than 30 countries and territories. Designed with flexibility in mind, all itineraries empower guests to personalize their adventures beyond the ordinary.

The expert team behind each itinerary possesses a deep understanding of these destinations, ensuring that each experience is nothing short of extraordinary. The sandy beach at the trailhead is a popular swimming hole, making it a great place to cool off after your hike.

More Fun and Adrenaline Rushes

Fayetteville is known for its adrenaline-rush adventures—mainly white water rafting. Book a guided rafting trip on the Upper and Lower New River (one of the oldest rivers in the world) and the nearby Gauley River (the most challenging rapids) from  Ace Adventure Resort  or Adventures on the Gorge (premier whitewater rafting resort in the country) from May to November. 

A second popular offering in the area is aerial adventures, designed to show you the thrills from the treetops looking down. Rappelling is yet another impressive outdoor activity in Fayetteville.

The city’s terrain makes mountain biking another thrilling adventure. If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one from Arrowhead Bike Farm . You can take part in a bike clinic and have lunch while you are there. And, if rock climbing interests you, head to Beauty Mountain.

Adventures on the Gorge

Searching for a thrilling adventure? Adventures on the Gorge is a must-visit destination for thrill-seekers. Offering whitewater rafting, zip lining, and rock climbing, Adventures on the Gorge will push you out of your comfort zone and give you the ultimate adrenaline rush. You can even walk underneath the New River Gorge bridge in one of the latest adventures.

With experienced guides and state-of-the-art equipment, Adventures on the Gorge is deemed safe, fun, and accessible for all skill levels. The property has a multitude of spaces for eating, shopping, hearing live music and hanging out. I was a big fan of the well-appointed gift shops, which included S’mores-making kits and souvenir tees.

As with any gorgeous property like this, I prefer to hang in the pool area, and the one at Adventures on the Gorge (Canyon Falls Pool) is spectacular! You even have views of the New River Gorge Bridge from the pool, surrounded by a rhododendron forest.

Adventures on the Gorge is also your one-stop shop for lodging. Choose from cabins (hotel-style, loft, and rustic-many handicapped accessible), glamping, campsites, vacation homes, and RV sites. I stayed in a hotel-style cabin at Sunnysides.

The cabin was spacious with two comfortable queen beds, a deck with wooded views, a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, huge bathroom, and roll-in shower.

Did you notice the heated towel bar on the wall? That would be a great perk in the cooler months.

I might add that there was no lip on the door in the shower or to get outside on the deck, which my friends in wheelchairs are always curious about.

My accommodations at Adventures on the Gorge were hosted as part of a familiarization trip. As always, opinions and reviews are 100% mine and unbiased.

Shopping in Downtown Fayetteville

Downtown Fayetteville offers a unique shopping experience that you won’t find anywhere else. The beautiful architecture and stunning courthouse property will make this an exciting walking tour. From artisanal pottery to trendy clothing boutiques, the shops in Fayetteville are diverse and welcoming. Here are a few of my faves.

Lost Appalachia Trading Co.

I love the looks and great products in this Fayetteville shop. Things to watch for at Lost Appalachia are cute stickers, books, candles, apparel, and other unique finds from local artisans.

Thread is an eclectic clothing boutique on the corner of Maple Avenue. Inside are racks full of retro and vintage-looking clothing, sunglasses, jewelry, interesting items, and beautiful displays.

No stranger to the downtown Fayetteville shopping scene is Water Stone Outdoors . You’ll find quality outdoor apparel and products, as well as specializing in rock climbing gear and the best shoe selection possible.

Inside the Hobbit Hole is a gallery of mystery and intrigue. Vintage items squirreled away in nooks and crannies will pique your interest and test your window-shopping willpower. It’s insanely good!

A newer name to Fayetteville is Out of the Ashes , a cutesy shop on Maple Avenue. I loved the arsenal of West Virginia products (candles, purses, notecards), throws, handbags, clothing, and jewelry.

While you’re downtown, make sure to stop by the New River Antique Mall for a selection of vintage and antique finds.

Drinking Around Fayetteville

You’ll find a darling coffee shop in downtown Fayetteville:  Range Finder Coffee . This craft coffee shop serves specialty and ethically sourced coffee and espresso. They also have a small variety of locally-made baked goods. I found the shop to be so darned cute; it made me want to linger longer. 

Bridge Brew Works  is a local microbrewery that offers a wide range of craft beers. The brewery is located in a renovated school building. It features an outdoor patio where you can enjoy a cold beer while taking in the views of the New River Gorge. The brewery is open for tastings, and growler fills, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of adventure.

Dining in Fayetteville, WV

Fayetteville offers many delicious dining options, from casual to upscale. You can find everything from farm-to-table cuisine to classic burgers and fries. Some of the most popular dining options in Fayetteville are Tudor’s, Cathedral Cafe, Secret Sandwich Society, and Pies & Pints.

Tudor’s Biscuit World

Breakfast is the most important meal. Luckily, Fayetteville has a Tudor’s Biscuit World , a West Virginia icon, with homemade biscuit sandwiches that melt in your mouth. The gang’s all here: Ron, Dottie, Duke, Mickey, Mary B—popular biscuit combinations, but the Peppi, with pepperoni and melted cheese, is my standing order.

Pies and Pints

Downtown Fayetteville is home to the original Pies and Pints , a pizza joint franchised around the country with plentiful tap beer options. The Steak and Mushroom pizza is scrumptious, but get this…you can split the pizza between two gourmet creations.

Pizza Skins and Pork & Pepper Nachos with a chipotle crema are two pleasing appetizers to start your dining experience off right.

Secret Sandwich Society

Tempting culinary bites await you in Fayetteville. Currently rebuilding from a fire, Secret Sandwich Society is known for top-notch gourmet sandwiches and salads. We sure hope they will rebuild in the eclectic fashion that delighted their devoted customers.

SSS’s Truman is my favorite sandwich (turkey, peach jam, blue cheese spread, and crispy onions), but the pimento cheese smothered fries will make your eyes roll back in your head. 

Cathedral Cafe

Cathedral Cafe  has been a hippie mainstay in Fayetteville for years and an exceptional eatery for paninis, quesadillas, and coffee drinks. However, the quiche and chicken salad with bacon has been my favorite for years. If you just need a snack, try the artichoke and spinach dip. Nom!

Save room for the mixed berry cobbler and bread pudding—both are absolutely delicious. 

Smokey’s on the Gorge

Smokey’s on the Gorge is a place for a special meal with one-of-a-kind scenery. Try the Smoked Gumbo Dip with crostini or the filet mignon tournedos for your main course. Yummy! West Virginia farm-raised trout is another recommended dinner selection at Smokey’s.

Historic Fayette Theater

The circa 1938  Historic Fayette Theater  is a restored movie theater and performing arts venue that offers live theater productions from local groups and often traveling shows throughout the year. It’s a great place to experience the arts and history of the town all in one place. Check the website for currently running shows. 

Additional Lodging Choices

You can find options as rugged or upscale as you want to be in this town. 

At Ace Adventure Resort, cabins, chalets, cottages, and log homes around the spring-fed mountain lake are trendy.

Hawks Nest State Park is only a few miles away, a picturesque destination with a sweeping vista of the New River, an onsite restaurant, a 31-room lodge, and a nerve-racking aerial tram ride that takes you to the ground level for jet boat rides.

Hawks Nest has undergone a major renovation, and I can’t wait to see it.

The Historic Morris Harvey Bed and Breakfast would be a romantic option for staying in Fayetteville, offering a gourmet breakfast, charming details, clawfoot tubs, free WiFi, and a fabulous home-cooked breakfast.

Lafayette Flats, boutique lodging in the heart of historic downtown Fayetteville, has me intrigued. The artwork and stylish decor are really exceptional.

A Bonus Find!

Just a hop, skip, and jump from Adventures on the Gorge is Swiftwater General Store (physical address is Lansing). This provision station features firewood bundles, fire starters, produce, groceries, prepared gourmet foods, beer, wine, ice, and souvenirs.

They also have a cute little eatery serving breakfast and lunch, including vegetarian items, breakfast burritos, WV hot dogs, and homemade soups. Grab & Go items are popular, too.

How a millennial Lyft driver used the gig to travel to all 50 states, launch a food blog, and get started on a book

• Kreskin J. Torres, a Lyft driver, has traveled across all 50 states, documenting his dining experiences.
• Torres is working on a book, an app called Rideshare Foodies, and is organizing a national potluck.
• He said gig driving is just temporary and has helped him achieve his larger goals.

Kreskin J. Torres, 35, has eaten his way through all 50 states — including Alaska and Hawaii. His ticket to doing so? Driving for Uber and Lyft .

The Army veteran and Baltimore native has documented his dining on his blog Rideshare Foodie . After seven years, he's learned the most profitable times of day to drive, the best locations to find riders in each city and the optimal strategies for maximizing tips .

"You just got to work smarter, not harder," Torres said. "From my experience, I've been in every state, so I know how every city works now."

At the same time, he's been able to pursue his foodie passions. Torres is now working on a book called "Taste of the States," his recommendations app called Rideshare Foodies, and planning a series of events to honor dishes from various states and their history.

While driving for ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft can be a flexible way to earn money for people like Torres who have more than one hustle, it can also be a recipe for burnout. Among the dozens of drivers Business Insider has spoken with over the past few months, many are already dreaming of what's next — starting a business or finding new modes of employment .

And that's Torres' main career advice for those considering it. After all, he's not planning to do the job forever, as he hopes to transition away, though it helped him jump-start new paths for his future.

"Do not make this the end all be all," Torres said, noting how Uber and Lyft have threatened to pull out of Minneapolis. "When it started, it was advertised as a gig, a side hustle."

Traveling the country as a gig driver

As a veteran, he said this job has been relatively stress-free and helpful for not feeling lonely, a similar sentiment he's heard from veterans with PTSD.

"I enjoy meeting and connecting with different people and getting to see different places," Torres said.

He decided to spend his next few years on the road using driving to fund his adventures and to meet locals who could point him to the best restaurants and experiences.

"The great thing is you get to learn about different cities and how everything operates," Torres said.

He moved to San Antonio , though he works mainly around the more-profitable Austin area, and has explored the South and Southeast.

While he doesn't make much money from his blog, he said driving has allowed him to try everything from Navajo tacos in Arizona to biscuits in chocolate gravy in Arkansas to huckleberry swirls in Montana. Driving has led him to some of his favorite restaurants like I693 Red Zone Grill in Jackson, Mississippi; Strawberry's BBQ in Holcomb, Missouri; and Rice & Roll by Xing Xing in Wichita.

Learning the most profitable places and times to drive

Torres noticed he would get more profitable rides driving around suburbs, airports, and sports stadiums, locations coveted by drivers as they get more tips and sometimes elevated fares.

He learned New Year's will always be profitable , though rides slow down around February before picking up in mid-March. It's led him to be more methodical about the types of rides to take, as well as planning when to save more of his earnings and when to splurge a little on food and travel.

"After seven years, I'm a lot more experienced. It depends on the time of the season, so I usually can do a lot more business in college towns," Torres said. "I would visit a city, see what they're known for, a little history behind it."

Torres was making enough to comfortably travel the country, though he's always been careful since he said passengers are sometimes confused by his out-of-state license plate. He also faced a permanent deactivation from Uber last year over a dispute over the color of his car.

He doesn't have a wife or kids, nor does he have an apartment, as he mainly lives out of his car to save money. He acknowledges that growing competition on the road and lower earnings could put a greater dent in savings for people with families or permanent residences.

Torres has transitioned to driving full-time for Lyft , and he typically is online for 12 hours a day but only actively drives five to six hours in between waiting around airports.

He said he's increasingly put himself in his passengers' shoes to determine the best places and times to drive — he likely won't put in the effort to drive during rain, and he's more likely to do later trips around concert venues or bars.

To continue supporting his travels, he said he sometimes does airport rides at 3 or 4 a.m., as well as rides between 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. during the morning rush. He also said being online around noon is fruitful for corporate workers, while 3 p.m. is right when schools let out. He usually tries not to drive around evening rush hours but sometimes resumes later at night.

He also devotes more time to driving between Wednesday and Sunday, when rides are more frequent, whether for "whiskey Wednesdays" or Friday afternoon happy hours. This is also when he can best network with passengers and hear their stories, as he said he occasionally gets to drive famous people.

Torres said drivers should consider this a short-term opportunity while working toward long-term goals. As he eases off the app, he has his eyes set on more international travel in the coming months. He's also investing more time in his food app, a local recommendation tool that functions like a Facebook group in which people ask questions about, for example, the best bartender in the area or where to go for particular dishes. It has launched on Android and set to be released on Apple by the summer.

"The most positivity that you can get out of it, do whatever you can and get the most out of it," Torres said. "The next few months will probably be my last time doing this because I'm focusing on other things, so I always had a plan for the things I was going to do."

Skiing in May? With the amount of snow the Rockies have seen this month, it is entirely possible. Ski resorts like Copper Mountain, Breckenridge and Winter Park are estimating mid-May, so a Mother's Day weekend ski getaway could be entirely possible. Just d on’t forget the sunscreen. 

When it comes to where to stay at a ski resort, it's hard to go wrong with a site like Vrbo. There are hundreds of options still available this late in the season at a variety of resorts. A quick search of Breckenridge Ski Resort for Mother's Day weekend shows over 300 properties available, from a huge 20-person ski-in ski-out villa only a few steps away from the slopes to smaller condos averaging less than $100/night before fees.

Road trip through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park

Most people in the United States are familiar with Yellowstone National Park, the nation’s first national park. Filled with geysers, waterfalls, hot springs and streams, not to mention thousands of species of animals and plants, Yellowstone is an incredible place to take a road trip. Nearby Grand Teton National Park is less known but still quite popular. Shots of the Tetons towering over lakes and meadows have long filled rolls of film and memory cards. 

As spring arrives and the snow starts to melt, it can be a great time to visit either of these parks, though I wouldn’t blame you for postponing your trip until summer has arrived — as of this writing there is still over 10 feet of snow on the upper mountain at Jackson Hole Ski resort right outside GTNP. The best way to visit both parks? Probably an RV from RVShare.com. Think of it as Turo but for RVs. With so much of both parks to explore, you’ll constantly be on the move; renting out an RV to stay in during the entirety of the trip means you won’t have to keep packing and unpacking as you move from place to place. There are plenty of options to choose from, from towables to Class C motorhomes. You can even get a destination delivery if you don’t want to bother moving it around.

If an RV isn’t your style, or you’re going to stay in one spot for a while, Vrbo is another great option. Unlike AirBNB which offers private rooms for rent, meaning you’re sharing your vacation with someone else, with Vrbo the entire house is yours . Whether you want to stay in a rustic cabin inside the National Park or this luxury mountain modern home is more your speed, Vrbo has you covered.

Stay in a vintage Airstream outside of Yosemite National Park

I’ve always loved the idea of camping with my family. I am very comfortable sleeping in a tent, mostly due to the fact that once I am asleep I am dead to the world for the next 7-9 hours, especially after a long day of hiking. Not everyone feels the same way, though, preferring a mattress to a sleeping pad. That’s where a place like Autocamp Yosemite comes in. Just outside of one of the world’s most known national parks is a fleet of vintage, retrofitted Airstreams. 

Featuring air conditioning and heat, memory foam mattresses, Egyptian cotton sheets, coffee service, a private kitchenette and a luxurious shower in a private spa-esque bathroom, these Airstreams offer glamping in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Road Trip around Iceland then spend a relaxing spa day at the Blue Lagoon

This one is for the more adventurous moms out there. The land of fire and ice has gotten more and more popular than when we first visited back in 2017 and for good reason: stunning landscapes, mountains, hundreds of waterfalls and very few crowds. Many cities now offer nonstop flights to Iceland. Get a seat on the north side of the plane for a chance to see the northern lights on your way to Reykjavik. Once you land, get in a camper van that you’ll call home for the next few days, or hop behind the wheel of one of the many 4x4s that we don’t have here in the states and take off.

Whether you’re interested in waterfalls or whale watching, glacier hikes or diving between tectonic plates, you can do it in Iceland. If you do go the camper van route, I highly recommend stopping at Blue Lagoon on your way back to Keflavik Airport at the end of your trip for a luxurious spa experience.

Fjords, Pharaohs or Koalas? Time to Plan for Your Next Eclipse.

If you can’t get enough of totality, or missed out this time, you’ll have three more chances in the next four years in destinations like Iceland, Spain, Egypt and Australia.

Are you still a little giddy from the magical moments of totality during Monday’s solar eclipse? Or did clouds swoop in to block your view? Maybe you just couldn’t make it to the path of totality this time. No matter what, the question now is “ Where and when will it happen again?”

“People who have never seen it before, the first words out of their mouth after the totality ends is ‘I’ve got to see another one, this is incredible, this is unbelievable.’ That is when you become addicted to these things and end up traveling no matter where the next one is,” said Joseph Rao, an eclipse chaser and guest lecturer at the Hayden Planetarium.

So, if like Mr. Rao, you’ve developed a raging case of umbraphilia — the love of eclipses — you’ll have three chances over the next four years to see the moon blot out the sun. The first, on Aug. 12, 2026, will start above Greenland, then strafe the west coast of Iceland and move along the Atlantic Ocean and over Spain. Almost a year later, on Aug. 2, 2027, another will skirt the Mediterranean coast of North Africa then cross Egypt and part of the Arabian Peninsula. The third, on July 22, 2028, will cut across Australia and the southern tip of New Zealand.

Future Eclipses

Eclipse chasers will have several more chances this decade to view a total solar eclipse .

Last week, as Victoria Sahami , the owner of Sirius Travel , was preparing to guide a group of tourists in Mazatlán, Mexico, for Monday’s big event, she was also planning for these other upcoming eclipses. Ms. Sahami joined the ranks of the eclipse-obsessed when she witnessed one in Venezuela in the 1990s. “Like many people, I was hooked. There was no going back,” she said.

Total solar eclipses happen fairly regularly — about every one to two years — in locations scattered around the world. “That’s the great thing about them: You wind up in places that you don’t normally go,” Ms. Sahami said.

A major spoiler is weather, which will be a big variable in the 2026 eclipse — one Greenland, Iceland and Spain will see.

“Iceland normally has a lot of cloud during that time of year,” said Paul Maley , who runs Ring of Fire Expeditions . “The data shows Spain to have the higher good-weather prospects of all three. However, the sun is low in the sky and the eclipse ends as the sun hits the horizon at sunset.”

Because of Iceland’s mercurial meteorology, Ring of Fire Expeditions is going all in on Spain, with a 10-day excursion on the mainland. Sirius Travel is offering not only a five-day trip to Majorca but also an eight-day tour around Iceland. It will be based in Reykjavik, and the itinerary will remain flexible on the day of the eclipse so the tour can easily pivot toward the location with the least cloud cover. Ms. Sahami recommends the trip for those who already have a few eclipses under their belt and would be happy just to take in the sights of Iceland if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

The 2027 eclipse, on the other hand, promises to be truly stellar: Luxor, Egypt — the site of numerous ancient temples as well as the Valleys of the Kings and Queens — sits right in the middle of the path of totality and will be bathed in darkness for a full 6 minutes 23 seconds. Weather-wise, it is what Ms. Sahami called “a slam dunk.” “You know you’re going to see it. You know that you’re not going to get any clouds,” she said.

But for all its potential, those considering Egypt should be aware that the State Department has a Level 3 “Reconsider Travel” warning for the country because of the risk of terrorism.

The 2028 eclipse will darken the skies over Sydney, Australia, for 3 minutes 49 seconds. It will be the first time the city has experienced a total solar eclipse since 1857. Ms. Sahami has her eyes on a trip based out of there, while Mr. Maley has chartered a cruise ship off the northwest coast of Australia. It will be winter there, he said, but that isn’t likely to mean bad eclipse-viewing weather.

If you want to see any (or all) of these eclipses, you should get started on planning and booking now, particularly if you want to sign up for a trip organized by a tour company. One of Sirius Travel’s excursions to Luxor is already full.

Scrutinize refund policies and look into insuring your trip. Several companies will fully refund your deposit if you cancel a year in advance. A lot can happen, Ms. Sahami said, “but if you think you’re going to go, why not?”
