Was very please to come across bucket list prints, found some wonderful items that brought back happy memories. And then to be able to add the customisation to the print made a perfect gift for my wife on our anniversary. Will definitely be ordering more prints in the future

We were sprucing up the ski patrol first aid room when one of our patrollers found this poster on line. It’s a perfect addition to the FAR in our small ski area. It fits perfectly with our retro themed room with other vintage ski posters. Surprised you had this poster! And vivid blue colors brighten up the room!

Ordered this as a gift for my sister and she loved it!

2nd print I have ordered from here and I will definitely be ordering more! Bought this one as a gift. They are so beautifully printed and make for great gifts. They bring such a lovely sense of nostalgia with so many different options. Big fan.

Absolutely love my Rotters, Manchester framed poster. Looks amazing in my ‘kitchen disco’. The love & nostalgia is real. Fantastic, quick service. Would definitely recommend bucketlistprints.com. Thank you to all.

Great quality print and speedy delivery. Thanks!

Leaving the area after 20 years so thus great print will give me good memories to look back on

Great print and reminder of good times

Great art and rapidly delivered

Outstanding quality, 'premium' feel prints. Outstanding designs, thank you!

Bought this for my daughters 18 th birthdays as we had spent many great holidays and days out in Arran. I changed the frame colour without any hassle. Picture arrived quickly and well packaged. I was very pleased and my daughter was delighted Certainly recommend this company for quality and professionalism Thank you

L'affiche est conforme à ce qui est affiché sur le site, le papier est épais, elle est tout simplement magnifique !

Renaissance at the Cross was one of those regular nights for me somewhat tainted by bouncers who would not let me in on the last time I went so many moons back. However I wouldn't let that spoil all the good times and this picture is a fitting tribute to all those nights I did get in and it is nice to have art that actually has a memory or two attached to it. Very good quality and I am very pleased with my purchase.

This is an easy company to deal with . The prints asre exactly as shown on the website and arrived as scheduled with regular updates of my framed posters journey to me. I have ordered twice from Bucket List Prints and would buy from them again

Great posters. Very prompt will buy again

Rare movie posters worth thousands on display at Fort Lee exhibit. How to see them

big trip poster

A poster is meant to ballyhoo the next big attraction.

It's not meant to be the next big attraction.

Or is it? Konstantino Spanoudis, a Fort Lee collector who has lent 70 of his prize movie posters and lobby cards to the Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee , thinks that the best of them are events in themselves.

"Each one of these posters has a story for me," said Spanoudis, who provided the material for "Coming Attractions: Classic Film Posters from the Konstantino Spanoudis IKON Collection," an exhibit running through December.

Movie posters are iconic. Remember the lady and the shark from "Jaws"? Remember the marionette logo from "Godfather"? They're almost as famous as the films themselves.

Designers like Saul Bass used to create top-to-bottom promotions for an Alfred Hitchcock or Otto Preminger film: several of his posters, featured in this exhibit, are classic. One producer, Samuel Z. Arkoff, creator of B-picture classics like "The Beast With a Million Eyes" and "I Was a Teenage Werewolf," took the process to its logical conclusion. He came up with the poster first. Then his screenwriter and director would make a movie based on it.

For more than 100 years, posters have been a key part of the moviegoing experience.

"What makes a poster attractive to me is the image, number one," he said. "Because after all, it's all about the image."

Famous faces

Images — faces — are arrayed around the gallery at the Fort Lee museum and revival house on Main Street. And what faces! Theda Bara. Claudette Colbert. Marilyn Monroe. Charlie Chaplin. Robert De Niro. Rita Hayworth. Betty Grable. Anita Ekberg. Sean Connery. Abbott & Costello.

Some posters are crudely comic. Some are sensational. Some are clever. Some are real works of art — with soft lines, subtle facial expressions, and skin tones worthy of Watteau.

"There was an argument, in the advertising and promotion departments," said film historian Richard Koszarski, curator of the exhibit. "Is the artistic type of poster what you want, or is something vulgar and grabby what you want?"

Some 19 of the pieces relate to Fort Lee: films made in this part of New Jersey during the brief period, from about 1910 to 1917, when Bergen County was the center of American film production. That's of particular interest to the Barrymore Center, and to Koszarski, who has written several books on the subject.

"Movies started in Fort Lee and then went to Hollywood, though there was some overlap," Koszarski said.

Among the specimens on show: an image of "vamp" star Theda Bara in her own "Carmen," made at Fort Lee's Fox Studio in 1915, and a poster of Benjamin Chapin's forgotten multi-part Lincoln epic, "Son of Democracy," made in Ridgefield Park in 1917.

Fort Lee film is one of several areas of interest for Spanoudis, who has amassed a collection of well over 6,000 movie posters since he began collecting in the late 1980s.

His favorite things

Other favorite subjects: westerns, Abbott & Costello comedies, sports films (before closed-circuit television, movie houses were where you went to see the Dempsey fight). Also so-called "race" films — the movies made against daunting odds by Black filmmakers for segregated movie houses.

"While Thousands Cheer" starring football great Kenny Washington and comic Mantan Moreland, is one example here. Another is "The Bull-Dogger," a colorful and much-reproduced poster featuring Black rodeo star Bill Pickett. Spanoudis owns one of the original prints.

"You have to admire him," he said. "When you read the story of Bill Pickett, it's just an amazing story and life. I love that image of him. I just wish I would see that film, or any film with him." (All seem to be lost).

Another pet subject is silent film. Greeting visitors when they come into the gallery is the prize of his collection: a huge 41-by-81 inch image, from 1912, of Sarah Bernhardt as Queen Elizabeth. "I outbid a billionaire for this," Spanoudis said. "It's one of my proudest moments."

It was a poster, he said, that he came up on eBay some 20 years ago. There were a lot of "snipes" on it — the trade word for the strips of paper, pasted across the poster, with messages like "Final Week!" on them. The image underneath was obscured, but Spanoudis sensed value. While his rival balked, he acquired the poster for around $6,000, then sent it out to have the "snipes" removed and the image restored.

The gorgeous poster that was revealed is probably worth $25,000 or more. Spanoudis has no intention of selling. But he did take great pleasure in showing it to his eBay competitor.

"The look on his face was just priceless to me," Spanoudis said. "His eyes rolled back in his head, and he said, 'Oh my god, we would have wanted that.' I was just lucky enough to recognize what he didn't."

Now playing

"Queen Elizabeth" is significant. This prestigious 1912 import, featuring the great French stage star, played "legitimate" Broadway houses (as opposed to the storefront "nickelodeons" of the day) and helped make the movies respectable. This poster was one of the first to promote a specific movie — as opposed to simply "the movies."

"If you look at the first movie posters, they'll just say 'Lumière Cinématographe' or 'Edison Vitascope is here,' " Koszarski said. "The attraction was a movie show. Something projected on a screen. And they didn't care whether it was Niagara Falls or a train. That was fine for about 10 years. Then people said, 'I've seen that, do you have anything different?' "

And so the movie poster — as we know it today — was born.

Lithographers, people who did circus billboards, were the ones who created the first movie posters. Before TV, before the internet, posters were almost the sole means of film promotion.

"This was point-of-sale advertising," Koszarski said. "You walked down the street and there was a sign of what was being shown. But it had to grab you. And it had to compete with the nickelodeon across the street."

Exhibitors were responsible for promoting their own films. They would acquire posters and lobby cards from industry exchanges; such material was never intended for public sale. Much of it ended up in warehouses, or the storerooms of movie theaters — or was pulped during the paper drives of World War II. By the time collectors like Spanoudis came onto the scene, they had become rare and much sought-after.

"I just became addicted and started collecting," said Spanoudis, originally from Northern Greece, who came here in 1970.

Pay to play

He had come to love movies in his childhood: Hollywood westerns and Italian sword-and-sandal epics were his favorites. "I guess it was the connection to ancient Greece and ancient Rome," he said.

When he had the wherewithal — poster collecting, as he points out, is a rich person's game — he began to bid, with money he'd made from his marble and granite countertop business. Some of his posters are worth as much as $40,000 to $50,000.

In quest of movie art, he haunts auctions, scents out estate sales, and partners with experts like Koszarski to track down the best and rarest. He's spread out his acquisitions between a private Fort Lee gallery and his home.

Even so, he has hard time keeping afloat in a sea of movie art. At home, he only has room to hang a fraction of his "finds." He has to change them up regularly.

"I rotate them, I don't have a choice," he said. "I rotate 10 or 15 at a time."

BarkBox’s next big delivery: Charter flights for dogs

Starting in may, bark air will fly dogs and their owners from new york to l.a. or london.

big trip poster

BarkBox, the service that assembles and ships care packages for dogs to millions of subscribers each month, is expanding into a new market: pet-friendly charter flights. This spring, the company will begin transporting dogs (and their owners) on private planes via Bark Air.

Starting on May 23, Bark Air will fly weekly between Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y., and Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles. The following week, it will kick off bimonthly service between Westchester and London Stansted Airport. Reservations at dogsflyfirst.com will go live Thursday, on National Pet Day. The one-way cross-country flight costs $6,000 for one dog and one owner; the transatlantic flight goes for $8,000.

By comparison, for the same date as the launch, nonstop air on a major carrier starts at $220 one way from New York to Los Angeles and from $525 to London. Adding a dog would cost more.

Bark chief executive and co-founder Matt Meeker said the inspiration for Bark Air came from his Great Dane. Hugo visited nearly two dozen states and Canada during his 12-year lifetime, but he never pranced around the West Coast or Europe because of the challenges of flying pets, especially of his size.

Options are limited for pets too large for the cabin. Depending on the season, destination and airline, owners can transport their dogs as checked luggage or cargo, an arrangement that comes with risks. According to Transportation Department data, U.S. carriers reported nine incidents involving animals, including seven deaths, in 2022. (The agency has not published its annual 2023 numbers for these incidents).

To understand the experience of traveling as baggage, Meeker packed himself into a crate and was rolled across the tarmac and loaded onto a plane, where he stayed in his enclosure for 45 minutes to an hour. His experiment confirmed his suspicions: Flying in the belly of a plane can be traumatizing.

“It was very cramped, very dark. Loud noises. Disorienting. No food or water. Nowhere to go to the bathroom,” said Meeker. “It was very, very terrible.”

Moneyed travelers can book a private or charter plane. However, noncommercial air can be prohibitively expensive or unpredictable. K9 Jets , a private charter operator that started offering pet-friendly flights last year, flies to 13 destinations, including Dallas, Paris and West Palm Beach, Fla. It has similar prices to BarkAir — $6,650 from New Jersey to Los Angeles — but will cancel the flight if it is not at least 75 percent full.

“There’s a huge amount of interest and demand, and really frustration,” Meeker said. “People are looking for a reasonable solution to transport their dog if they’re moving or taking a summer vacation or weekend trip.”

Meeker said the company partnered with Talon Air , a New York-based charter company that will fly two Gulfstream G550s under the Bark Air banner. The plane can accommodate 14 passengers, but the company will cap the number at 10.

After the traveler books the flight, a concierge will contact the family to learn about the dog’s temperament and to help with logistics, including the documents required to enter England. The fare includes complimentary car service within a 30-mile radius of the arrival destination.

Meeker recommends passengers arrive 45 minutes to an hour before departure. Guests will wait in a private area inside the terminal, where a chef will prepare a hot meal for the human travelers to avoid any in-flight tray-table surfing. Before boarding, the dogs will have a chance to sniff each other out.

Onboard, pets can fly without a leash as long as they behave. During a test run, Meeker said the dogs were very courteous, with no unruly outbursts.

“They would say hello to the other dogs and say hello to the other people. Everyone was very calm about it,” he said. “For dogs who were a little more nervous, or people who were more nervous for their dogs, we have a place on the plane for them to sit without anyone bothering them.”

Since the pups are the top dogs onboard, the carrier will cater to their tastes. The menu will feature “Doggie Champagne” (actually chicken broth), doughnuts made for dogs and meaty snacks served on a silver tray. The flight crew will include professionals trained in veterinary care and dog behavior. At the end of the trip, the four-legged fliers will earn their wings, which they can proudly pin to their collar or harness.

If Bark Air does well, Meeker hopes to add larger planes to the fleet, which could help lower the fare. He also dreams of building the world’s first in-flight dog park.

“The dogs for those longer journeys will have a park where they can play with other dogs while their humans enjoy a drink at the bar around the edge of the park,” he said.

Henry Harteveldt, a travel industry analyst with the Atmosphere Research Group, said pet airlines are more apt to fail than succeed. (RIP, Pet Airways.) However, Bark Air has a few advantages. It is not building an airline from scratch. It has brand recognition. And it oversees a mailing list with the names of millions of pet lovers willing to drop a small fortune on their pooches.

“Some people will absolutely do this,” Harteveldt said. “The question is: Will there be a enough people who love their pets enough to pay $6,000 or more to transport them coast-to-coast or from New York to London?”

California student, an outdoor enthusiast, dies in accident on trip to Big Sur

big trip poster

A student at California Polytechnic State University died in an accident during a trip to Big Sur on the central coast of California over the weekend.

Kenneth Taylor, a third-year student at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo majoring in mechanical engineering, died Saturday in an accident during a trip to the popular seaside town, university officials said in a statement. The university did not share details on the nature of the accident or the cause of Taylor's death.

The San Luis Obispo Tribune, citing local authorities, reported that Taylor's body was found at the base of the Salmon Creek waterfall following a report of a climbing accident. Taylor apparently died “in the pool at the base of the waterfall,” San Luis Obispo County Cmdr. Stuart MacDonald told the newspaper.

More about Kenneth Taylor

The university said that Taylor was an "outdoor enthusiast" and the founding member of the university's Alpine Club.

Taylor, who was from Richland, Washington, was described as “a person of incredible technical skill and even more incredible kindness, unmatched wittiness, and a passion for adventure that could inspire anyone," by staff members of ASI Poly Escapes , where he served as a trip leader.

The university said that they are in touch with Taylor's family and are offering their full support to them and his friends.

"Our thoughts are with them as they grieve their loss," Cal Poly's statement read. "It is never easy to share news like this, and we know that processing this loss can be difficult for members of our community."

The university is offering support and resources, including counseling and therapy, to those affected by the tragedy and are encouraging students and staff members to utilize them.

'la la land' art director reacts to 'joker 2' comparisons, no big deal, 'joker 2' comparisons to 'la la land' all part of filmmaking no biggie, says art director.

The new trailer for "Joker: Folie à Deux" is stirring up some buzz among moviegoers and some filmmakers, who think some scenes very closely echo the musical "La La Land."

Austin Gorg , the art director of Damien Chazelle ’s 2016 hit, "La La Land," hasn't really noticed the comparisons himself ... but he tells TMZ any similarities are no big deal 'cause filmmaking often involves borrowing a bit of inspiration from other people's work.

Austin reckons the Todd Phillips -directed 'Joker 2' drawing comparisons to Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone 's flick is likely just a case of both films tapping into well-worn cinematic tropes explored by many movies -- as he points out, "La La Land" was essentially a love letter to classic films, even using sets from old-school musicals.

La La Land (2016) Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) pic.twitter.com/n1mwsxZwE3 — A Shot. (@justashottt_) April 10, 2024 @justashottt_

As for the scene of Joaquin Phoenix 's Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga 's Harley Quinn dancing in the moonlight, which mirrors a similar moment with Stone and Gosling in "La La Land," he says it's nothing new -- it's just basic movie magic to enchant audiences.

Austin says the same goes for the spotlight on Joaquin playing at the piano ... saying it's just pure stagecraft, as it was when Gosling acted out a similar shot 8 years earlier.

He summarizes, "The comparisons probably say more about our online culture than any meaningful critique of the film. That said, I'm happy that people are engaged. It means movies are still at the core of our culture."

It's no secret the art direction and cinematography were key players in driving fanfare and award-season buzz in both "La La Land" and the first 'Joker' film.

Goes without saying, the new 'Joker' sequel teases some seriously cool, atmospheric, and chilling visuals ... setting the stage for what's shaping up to be a wild ride when it hits theaters on Oct 4.

Fake ads, real politics: the art of Foka Wolf, the ‘Birmingham Banksy’ – in pictures

Anonymous street artist Foka Wolf uses the language of advertising to highlight political and social issues, from the PPE crisis to food banks. “I grew up in a low income, single-parent household,” he says, “so I take it very fucking personally when people in power try and demonise those who are broke and voiceless.” Known as the Birmingham Banksy (“I prefer Poundland Banksy”), Wolf has fooled countless people with his fake billboards. “There’s a lot of power in putting words on paper. One poster was offering students money to grow 23 pairs of ears on their back and quite a few people were up for it.” During tough political times, does it get harder to make satire? “Easier. More dickheads – more targets.”
