Aerosmith is pressing pause on its farewell tour .
Following a shifting of dates earlier this month after lead singer Steven Tyler sustained damage to his vocal cords during a New York gig, the rock band announced on Instagram Friday that the injury is more than previously thought since he also fractured his larynx. As a result, the rest of the tour is being postponed until next year.
"He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential," the band said in a statement about Tyler's injury.
The 75-year-old Tyler, who was initially given doctor's orders not to sing for 30 days, added that he was "heartbroken" not taking the stage with his band "brothers" and the Black Crowes, "rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!"
Fans will have to wait for more of Aerosmith's Peace Out Tour
Existing tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows (which include stops in Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago and the Aerosmith's hometown of Boston), but fans can also obtain refunds at their point of purchase if they are unable to attend once new dates are announced.

Aerosmith postpones farewell tour dates to 2024 after Steven Tyler suffers fractured larynx
Aerosmith has some news that may leave fans ‘Cryin.’”
A vocal injury to frontman Steven Tyler, 75, is "more serious than initially thought" and has resulted in all dates on the band's current "Peace Out" tour being pushed to "sometime in 2024," according to the band.
Tyler's doctor confirmed that the singer fractured his larynx in addition to damaging his vocal cords during a show earlier this month, which will require ongoing care, according to a Sept. 29 Instagram post by the band.
"He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of the fracture, he is being told patience is essential," the band wrote.
"All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be available for those unable to attend on the new tour dates," the band noted, adding fans with questions about refunds should contact the seller they purchased their tickets from.
“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!” Tyler said in a statement in the Instagram post.
The announcement about Tyler's larynx injury came nearly three weeks after the band shared on Sept. 11 that it would be postponing some tour dates in the next month because Tyler hurt his vocal cords during a concert in Elmont, New York.
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler said in the announcement .
“I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
The band had previously announced rescheduled dates for January and February 2024, but wrote on Sept. 29 that "new dates will be announced as soon as we know more."
Aerosmith was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and has put out eight songs in the Billboard Hot 100 over its long run. The band announced t he farewell tour in May and began the 40-date North American excursion Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. It had initially been set to wrap up Jan. 26 in Montreal.
The group has dealt with Tyler’s health before, canceling concerts at its Las Vegas residency last year when he entered a treatment program for substance abuse.
Tyler was joined on the “Peace Out” tour by longtime bandmates Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joe Perry but not drummer Joey Kramer.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the band said when announcing the tour.
“Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

The remaining dates on Aerosmith's farewell tour have been postponed until "sometime in 2024" as Steven Tyler continues to recover from damage to his vocal cords, an injury sustained during a New York concert.
The Peace Out tour was scheduled to bring Aerosmith to Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix on Sunday, Dec. 10, for a show with special guests the Black Crowes.
The Boston rockers shared the news on social media.
"Unfortunately, Steven's vocal injury is more serious than initially thought," they wrote.
"His doctors have confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx, which requires ongoing care."
The post noted that Tyler is "receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential."
The post also includes a note from Tyler, who wrote, "I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world."
Tyler ended his note with "I promise we will be back as soon as we can! - Love, Steven."

The rock band announced on Friday that the remainder of the North American leg of the tour has been canceled until next year, due to frontman Steven Tyler still recovering from his vocal cord trauma.
The group shared the news on their Facebook page , writing: “To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought.”
“His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care,” the statement continued.
The memo went on: “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”
“As a result, all the currently scheduled PEACE OUT shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more,” the news concluded.
Tyler, 75, even penned an emotional note to his fans at the end of the post, writing: “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Aerosmith Postpones Farewell Tour to 2024 as Steven Tyler Fractures Larynx in Addition to Vocal Cord Injury
The rock band shared on Friday that all of their remaining 2023 Peace Out tour dates will be rescheduled to 2024

Aerosmith is pausing their farewell tour after it was found that Steven Tyler had sustained an additional injury.
On Friday, the rock legends shared a statement on Instagram announcing that the remaining 2023 concerts on their farewell tour will be postponed to 2024, citing frontman Tyler's recovery from a newly discovered fractured larynx. The news comes two weeks after the band announced that the frontman “sustained vocal cord damage” and that they would need to reschedule six of their September concerts.
The group featuring the current lineup of original members Brad Whitford , Joe Perry , Tom Hamilton and Tyler, as well as new drummer John Douglas, opened up about the singer’s condition in a post dedicated to their fans.
“Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the “Dream On” band wrote. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers continued, “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”
Tyler himself also shared how “heartbroken” he is at the change of plans for the group and their openers, The Black Crowes. The vocalist added, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
The group explained that all shows of their farewell tour, known as Peace Out, will be postponed for sometime in 2024, with new dates announced in the near future. Refunds will be available for those no longer able to attend.
In mid-September, the “Sweet Emotion” band revealed that Tyler received doctor’s orders “not to sing for the next 30 days,” leading them to postpone a handful of their September shows in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, North Carolina and Cleveland to 2024.
“I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding,” Tyler shared in a statement at the time. “We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
The Grammy winners were only three shows into their tour when they rescheduled their September dates. Peace Out opened in Philadelphia on Sept. 2 at Wells Fargo Center and the group played a hit-filled setlist including favorites like “Love in an Elevator,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way,” among others.

Original members Hamilton, 69, Perry, 73, Whitford, 71, and Tyler are scheduled to carry out the remainder of the Peace Out tour, while original drummer Joey Kramer has been replaced by Douglas, 77. Kramer, 73, took a “ temporary leave of absence ” from the band in March 2022, sitting out the band’s Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas residency . His wife, Linda, died at age 55 in June 2022 .
The band put the Las Vegas residency on hold for a period starting in May 2022 when Tyler entered a treatment program for relapse after undergoing foot surgery to prepare for the band’s return to the stage.

“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years,” the band shared in a statement at the time. “After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.”
Aerosmith continued their Vegas shows in September 2022 , but Tyler’s health scuttled their plans to play in December.
"On the advice of my doctor, I'm taking more time to rest," Tyler said in a December statement . "There is nowhere we'd rather be than on stage surrounded by the greatest fans in the world."

Don’t want to miss a thing from Aerosmith’s farewell tour? The rock group’s fans are in luck.
Aerosmith announced Wednesday that its Peace Out tour is officially back on, with an updated slate of shows — including three Southern California stops — set to kick off in September. The rock group’s tour launched early last September, but was quickly put on hold after frontman Steven Tyler injured his vocal cords.
Less than a month into its Peace Out circuit, Aerosmith announced in a September 2023 statement that Tyler’s injury — a fractured larynx — was “more serious than initially thought.” As a result, the group said it would postpone its remaining stops until 2024.
Steven Tyler’s vocal injury ‘more serious than initially thought,’ rest of Aerosmith tour postponed
Steven Tyler’s vocal injury is ‘more serious than initially thought’ and has forced Aerosmith to postpone the remaining 2023 dates of the Peace Out tour.

“I promise we will be back as soon as we can,” Tyler, 76, said in a missive shared to the group’s Facebook page last year.
The Grammy-winning “Dream On” group will relaunch the remainder of its tour Sept. 20, with a newly added show at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena. The group also added a Sept. 23 concert at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
In the winter, Aerosmith will rock its way to California for shows in San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles. First, the “Walk This Way” group will play San Francisco’s Chase Center on Nov. 30, then San Jose’s SAP Center on Dec. 4 and Inglewood’s Kia Forum on Dec. 7, almost exactly a year later than initially scheduled.
Aerosmith postpones a month of shows because of Steven Tyler’s latest ailment
Steven Tyler damaged his vocal cords just as Aerosmith launched its Peace Out farewell tour, resulting in the band rescheduling six shows for 2024.
Sept. 12, 2023
The Peace Out tour is now scheduled to end on Feb. 26, 2025, at the Keybank Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The full list of tour dates can be found on Aerosmith’s website .
For all shows except its first one back, Aerosmith will be joined by “Remedy” rockers the Black Crowes, now on their own headlining tour behind a new album, “Happiness Bastards,” and playing L.A.’s Greek Theatre on Friday.
On top of his vocal injury, Tyler was sued in November 2023 for allegedly kissing and groping a teenage girl twice in 1975 when he was 27 and she was 17. In February, a U.S. district judge dismissed the lawsuit.
“We agree with the judge’s reasoning, and are grateful for this result on behalf of our client,” David Long-Daniels, a lawyer for Tyler, told Reuters in February.
