Terrible company

Terrible company! Have been trying to cancel an extorted subscription for 10 days now, repeated phone calls, yet they just don't listen and are trying to get my current operator to end my contract with them. Dishonest and totally inefficient. I never want to have anything to do with them.

Date of experience : April 13, 2024

I've been a client of both Salt Mobile…

I've been a client of both Salt Mobile and Salt Home for years. I can speak highly of Salt Mobile, but the teams behind Salt Home are incompetent and thiefs when it comes to resilation/cancellation. I am leaving permanently the country (CH) and as such, it is customary to be able to cancel all contracts of various types with no fees. But not at Salt Home. Called Salt Mobile (same company) to announce my departure, the matter was handled quickly and explained clearly. Spent less than 5 minutes on the phone. Salt Home? After 40 minutes with various people on the phone, it is not even solved. "Someone will call me back". They are the worst. Avoid Salt Home like the plague if you read this.

Hello Alexandre, We are sorry to hear about your negative experience. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we strive to provide the best possible service. Please send us your customer number via email to [email protected] and we will resolve it together. Greetings, Sarah

So expensive, be careful

I have two phone number subscriptions. - 1 with so called Europe Max - 1 with with Europe XL or something the like. - On top I also have wifi box from them as well. It starts of like a cheap alternative, then they start to pull you by your balls, raising their prices, bringing you appealing offers, slowly squeezing every last cent out of you with monthly bills of 150,- and more. And they really have you in their grip, it’s like a bear trap, with a contract duration of 2 years or more. With outrageous fees if you cancel the plan. Claiming that calls or internet are unlimited but that are in fact not unlimited at all, like actual EU countries that are not included in the EU coverage plan where you pay stupid amounts for a call, an sms or some internet and tons of other contractual closures that are not properly communicated upfront. Boooooohhh! Bad people. Thieves. Give me the chance to downgrade my subscriptions, without having to change my number or pay fees. Be honest.

Date of experience : April 03, 2024

HI, Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. Give me the relevant numbers and we'll check where these charges come from. I can't tell you any more than that. You can write to us at [email protected]. Angelo

30 chf for a payment reminder tells you…

30 chf for a payment reminder tells you everything you need to know…. This company is not going for a partnership, they’re sucking you in & will squeeze everything they can for the duration of the contract. Their reply suggests they message before the fine… in 2.5 years, this hasn’t happened once (apparently SALT has an issue as they insist that I have, a nice example of their spirit of partnership). Also note I have nothing against a late charge… rather the amount. Having 30chf hidden in the terms does not make it normal :-)

Date of experience : March 25, 2024

Edit: Hello, the collection process is an automated process that is initiated as soon as the payment deadline has passed and no payment has been made. The SMS is therefore automatically sent to the customer by the system and you may have overlooked it. In addition, the amount of the reminder fees is specified in the GTCs, which you accepted when you concluded the contract. Greetings, Sarah Hello Thomas, we very much regret your dissatisfaction. Reminder fees are only charged if the due date of an invoice has not been respected and the invoice was either paid too late or not at all. Before these costs are charged, every customer is informed of the overdue amount free of charge by text message. I understand that such charges are annoying, but it is the customer's responsibility to adhere to the due date stated on the invoice. Best regards, Sarah

scam all over the place

scam all over the place. think of it as a low cost airline. They have low subscription prices but add various services without your consent and charge a fortune.

Date of experience : January 15, 2024

Hi, can you be more specific? Angelo

Unlimited that is NOT actually unlimited

Will sell you "unlimited package" with tiny conditions typed into the small text, which will then make it a "unlimited package for europe with 1000 conditions" 100 CHF more on my bill. For what? calling in Europe, which is supposed to be "unlimited". No idea what excuse they will come up with this time. Last time apparently calls in EU to EU are unlimited calls CH to Ch are unlimited, but calls CH to EU are NOT unlimited

Date of experience : March 14, 2024

Hello, thank you for your feedback. Without being able to refer specifically to a subscription, I can tell you in general that for subscriptions with unlimited Internet abroad, the speed is reduced when a certain amount of data is reached. Despite the reduced speed, rudimentary Internet services can still be used i.e. the usable data volume is unlimited. Each subscription includes different services and it is important to be able to differentiate between them, because calls abroad and international calls abroad (from Switzerland) are not the same. If you need help you can send us your number to [email protected] and we will answer you. Greetings, Sarah

A fine mobile and wifi provider

I have veen using salt home and salt mobile for almost two years now. It is working fine in hyper centre of Geneva and main cities but there are some network outages in some rural regions while Salt still claiming to be number one in Switzerland.

Date of experience : February 01, 2024

Hello Charles Thank you for your feedback. Salt is investing a lot in the expansion and development of network coverage. In general, no telecommunications provider in Switzerland can offer an uninterrupted and seamless connection throughout Switzerland. Various factors can have a negative impact on reception. Factors such as topography or building permits for the construction of an antenna in certain communities must also be taken into account. This can lead to impairment, which is in the nature of mobile technology. We do our best to satisfy the requirements and stay ahead of future developments. Nevertheless, certain restrictions or short-term disruptions cannot be completely avoided. Kind Regards, Sarah

Extremely Poor Experience Buying SALT SIM FOR TOURISTS AT ZURICH AIRPORT SALT SHOP

Respected Sir I bought 02 sims for about 170 CHF for 01 month period for tourist for switzerland and europe on 25 march from Zurich Kloten airport Salt shop. On 28 I got a call From Mr Furcan That my SIM will be locked on 29 March 2024 as I had called certain unauthorised numbers A tourist if threatened that his mobile will stop gets tense leaves everything runs to get his mobile working. So I travelled from ST GALLEN to ZURICH AIRPORT on 29 march At 0945 hrs Mr Kulendran Vithulan was in the SALT MOBILE SHOP IN KLOTEN AIRPORT He looked into his monitor and said I had huge bills pending with the company. I had stolen I Phones and had to answer for them the amount pending was CHF 2000 and much more. He told me not to leave the shop and wait till Mr Furcan comes. In 55 years of my life I FELT LIKE A THIEF AS ALL STARTED STARING AT ME. Mr Furcan came in at 1015 hrs. He said I had make a call to emergency number of SBB so I need to pay CHF 3. AT THE TIME I BOUGHT THE SIM NOTHING WAS TOLD TO ME ONLY ALL CALLS WITHIN SWITZERLAND ARE FREE. HERE I WAS WITH A THREAT OF SIM BEING LOCKED IN SALT SHOP OF AIRPORT HAVING LEFT MY FAMILY AND TOURISM BEING CALLED A THIEF BEING MADE TO PAY CHF 3. I REPEATEDLY ASKED MR KULENDRAN VITHULAN FOR HIS NAME ........HE REFUSED TO GIVE. I NOTED FROM THE CARD HE WORE DEJECTED HUMILIATED EXTREMELY UNHAPPY I RETURNED TO ST GALLEN WITH MY FAMILY I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY I WAS CALLED A THIEF BY MR KULENDRAN VITHULAN ?? IS IT A STANDARD PRACTICE OF SALT COMPANY TO HUMILIATE ITS CUSTOMER ?? WAS IT A STANDARD PRACTICE TO DO IT TO AN INDIAN CITIZEN AS WE ARE ASIANS ?? WAS IT A PART OF TRAINING OF SALT TO HANDLE CUSTOMERS IN THEIR SHOP ?? CAN SOME ONE JOKE LIKE THIS WITH A CUSTOMER WHILE BEING ON DUTY ?? CAN I BE THREATENED OF SIM SWITCH OFF WHILE AT THE TIME OF SALE THEY DID NOT TELL ME EMERGENCY NUMBERS OF SBB ARE BANNED ?? I was HUMILIATED THREATENED TO STOP SIM BEING CALLED A THIEF BY SALT MOBILE FOR NO FAULT OF MINE I LEAVE IT TO THE READER WHETHER TO BUY SALT SIMS OR NOT Regards Kaushik Chakraborty Switzerland : 07832113881 India : 9425803148 : 9398366854

Scam price increase mid-contract

Salt increased the price of my 24 month mobile plan by almost 10% because of "inflation" - in the middle of my contract! They notified me about this via a long email that started by talking about their investments. I did not notice in time and now they are not letting me cancel my contract. Meanwhile they are selling this same contract online for 40% less than what I am paying now.

Date of experience : January 24, 2024

Hello we are sorry for the inconvenience caused however please note that we have informed all our customers about the increase of price in September 2023 the price went up by CHF 2. Nevertheless, I have forwarded your concern to the relevant team and they will contact you as soon as possible. Thanks kind regards Muna

Salt Europe being a scam

Switched away from Salt, because they kept on scamming me for more money. Salt has a number of "deals" they will try to push that is supposed to keep your expenses in check. They do the exact opposite. First of all, be aware that they'll happily charge you 100+ CHF when the "deal" expires, without letting you know. The Europe deals have a number of arbitrary exclusions you have no way of knowing about - I paid hundreds of CHF for calling a UK bank, because the bank had their call centre in Channel Islands (no way for me to know form a +44 number), and that was excluded. Happened several times over a few months, with different institutions, costing me hundreds. And after this, they have enough courage to keep on calling me with "new offers". Avoid. Their fiber is OK, but the mobile division of Salt is going to find a way to scam you.

Date of experience : February 12, 2024

Hello, we're sorry to hear that you are not satisfied. Usually the bank's numbers are premium rate numbers, but it's always advisable to check before calling a number. But we can check this case more thoroughly. Please send us your mobile phone number and details of your problem via e-mail to [email protected] and we will get back to you. Kind regards, Muna

Dishonest treatment of existing customers

During a black Friday sale I signed up for a Europe Max subscription costing 29.95CHF per month. Part way through Salt sent me a notification that my subscription will increase by 3CHF due to operating costs. On the next black Friday sale I walked past a Salt shop and saw that my subscription plan was being offered for the old price of 29.95CHF. I contacted Salt and was told I can change my subscription and receive the original subscription price but must sign up for a further 24 months. After signing Salt has the right to increase the subscription price but must notify me and then I have 2 months to cancel my subscription. Although legal I find this type of treatment of existing customers dishonest

Date of experience : November 23, 2023

Hello, please note that all offers are for 24 months if we renew your contract with that price its a contract for 24 months.

Extremely Dissatisfied with Customer Service

The only star Salt receives is because they partially refunded for their mistake. Unfortunately, the Salt Customer Service doesn't take full responsibility for their actions and many times I don't received the answers to my questions. The issue is that the Customer Service promised me the plan they have discontinued and now I am facing with charges as I am not aware of the plan changes. The issue still remains and it looks like they don't want me as a customer.

Date of experience : January 08, 2024

Hi, according to my information, we have credited all the invoiced amounts and reactivated the special option for the travel zone. Why do you say that the problem persists? Angelo

My 90 Grandma doesn't need overpriced world wide internet.

Their offers are a complete lie and are borderline illegal. They have unethical practices and scam old people, selling them product they absolutely don't need. My 90 Grandma doesn't need world wide internet. This is just evil. Also Salt changed contract and increased prices without notice. Communication is horrible and they make it very hard to reach someone.

Date of experience : July 20, 2023

Hello Ricko, please send us an E-Mail with the mobile number to: [email protected]. Kindly note that we do not have Worldwide subscriptions in our offers which subscription are you referring to?

Avoid at all costs

Friend recommended Salt upon moving to Geneva. I got setup with Salt a plan covering all Europe since I'd planned to travel - roaming coverage never worked outside of Switzerland, Salts technical support was useless...then while travelling I missed an email and Salt charged me 30CHF for being one week late....on a 30/mth plan.

Worst network coverage

Worst network coverage. I don't know on what basis they get to promote 99.9% coverage, already in Valais alone they don't get anything. 4G at equivalent speed of 2G, embarrassing. Now I understand how they come up with such low prices. If Sunrise or Swisscom don't pay me the change penalty as soon as my contract expires I'll say goodbye to them.

Date of experience : March 24, 2023

Poor connectivity

I Switched from Lycamobile, hoping the connectictivity would be better. Salt is +50% more expensive with even crappier network stability. I had no reception on a freaking ski station in leukerbad. Is this a joke? Looks like all that extra money is going towards unnecessary marketing crap and excess staff at their store. Stay away from salt mobile

Date of experience : April 22, 2023

Hello, no operator can guarantee complete coverage . However, we will keep working on bettering our coverage throughout Switzerland. Greetings Muna

If I had a dollar for every time I had…

If I had a dollar for every time I had to turn off and on the data so it would connect to a nearby tower, I could probably afford this overpriced mobile plan. Not only did they try, and partially, manage to scam me into a more expensive plan, their claims of 99.8% coverage apparently excludes my whole apartment in Lausanne, the ski resorts I go to, with a few other minor disconnects here and there. A lot of the time in areas where there is data, it literally shows 2 bars but no 4g, so I need to turn it off and on for it to work again. It is not my device, as my previous carrier never had this issue. Also, when I was overcharged for the wrong plan and I called support, he said he fixed it and I didn't check he actually did since I had no reason to not believe salt's own support. Next month I got charged the original amount. Scummy practices.

Date of experience : November 08, 2023

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied. Please give us more details about your issue and we will get back to you. You can contact us by email at: [email protected]. Thank you and best regards Muna

Salt has the worst internet connection…

Salt has the worst internet connection in the world. Don't let them rob you. They don't even deserve 1 chf. Awful connection. I think there is even better connection in Africa.

Date of experience : February 04, 2024

Hi, If you have a bad connection, there must be a problem at your address or area. Contact me via [email protected] and I'll check. Thanks. Br, Angelo

Bad signal!!!

I brought a sim card chf 40 for 10 days on 23th sep 2023as a traveler, it is expensive so I hope I should get a good signal. But no signal in the tunnel, or a path that is a bit up on the mountain while sitting on the train, no signal up on the mountain like Gimmelwald, Oeschinen Lake. Really really bad. My sister bought a plan from our home country which cheaper prices but has no problem with the signals.

Salt refuses to reimburse me for a…

Salt refuses to reimburse me for a mistake they have made 1. I moved from an apartment to a house in September 2. I intended to transfer my Salt subscription to the new house 3. Salt told me it was possible and suggested to purchase a wifi amplifier to improve the wifi signal in the house, which I purchased and paid in full 4. the wifi amplifier was delivered after a couple of days 5. after two weeks, Salt informed me it wasn't possible to transfer my subscription, as the neighborhood wasn't covered. we therefore decided to close the subscription 6. after several calls, Salt invited me to go to a store, leave the wifi amplifier there and wait for a reimbursement (which I did) 7. three months after having brought the amplifier back, and several calls to the customer service later, I am still waiting for a reimbursement 8. several customer representatives promised to look into the issue and find a solution; but nobody ever called back to offer anything 9. at present, Salt took my money and even took the product I had purchased back, refusing to offer any kind of solution don't trust the company!

Solar eclipse live: Watch live coverage from path of totality

salt.ch travel

[See eclipse livestream below]

On Monday, millions of people across the United States will get to see a rare total solar eclipse , the first in the U.S. since 2017 and the last until 2044.

And millions of others who aren't in the path of totality will see a partial solar eclipse .

Depending on where you are will determine how much of the sun will be covered by the moon. Those along the path of totality — which stretches from northern Mexico into Texas, the Midwest and East Coast and, finally, southeast Canada before moving out to sea, according to  NASA — will see a total solar eclipse, in which the moon appears the same size as the sun and blocks the entire disk, leading to a period of darkness lasting several minutes.

In Jacksonville and across Northeast Florida, about 62% of the sun will be obscured.

What time does the eclipse start in Jacksonville?

In Jacksonville, the eclipse will begin at 1:47 p.m. and continue to 4:19 p.m. At its peak at 3:05 p.m., about 64% of the sun will be obscured by the moon. ( Search eclipse times by ZIP code .)

Solar eclipse live: Watch a livestream from the path of totality

So if you want to experience the total solar eclipse from the path of totality, you'll want to follow USA TODAY's livestream of the eclipse as it moves across the country.

When will the next solar eclipse happen?

A solar eclipse is a rare phenomenon: it won't happen again in the U.S. again for another 20 years, on Aug. 23, 2044. Even then, its path of totality will stretch across Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota — hundreds of miles northwest from Monday’s eclipse path.

So grab your eclipse glasses and head outside to view it. And view the live stream to see what really makes a solar eclipse so special.

See the 2024 Solar Eclipse’s Path of Totality

A total solar eclipse is expected to pass through the United States on April 8, 2024, giving stargazers across the country the opportunity to view the celestial phenomenon in which the sun is completely covered by the moon.

The eclipse will enter the U.S. in Texas and exit in Maine. It is the last time a total solar eclipse will be visible in the contiguous United States until 2044.

Here's what to know about the path of the eclipse and where you can see it.

Where can you see the total solar eclipse?

The eclipse will cross through North America, passing over parts of Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

The eclipse will enter the United States in Texas, and travel through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Small parts of Tennessee and Michigan will also experience the total solar eclipse.

Much of the eclipse's visibility depends on the weather. A cloudy day could prevent visitors from seeing the spectacle altogether.

salt.ch travel

When does the solar eclipse start and end?

The solar eclipse will begin in Mexico’s Pacific coast at around 11:07 a.m. PDT. It will exit continental North America on the Atlantic coast of Newfoundland, Canada, at 5:16 p.m. NDT.

The longest duration of totality—which is when the moon completely covers the sun — will be 4 minutes, 28 seconds, near Torreón, Mexico. Most places along the path of totality will see a totality duration between 3.5 and 4 minutes.

Where’s the best place to see the total solar eclipse?

The best place to witness the event is along the path of totality. Thirteen states will be along the path of totality, and many towns across the country are preparing for the deluge of visitors— planning eclipse watch parties and events in the days leading up to totality.

In Rochester, NY, the Rochester Museum and Science Center is hosting a multi-day festival that includes a range of events and activities. Russellville, Arkansas will host an event with activities including live music, science presentations, tethered hot-air balloon rides, and telescope viewings.

Map: 4.8-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes New Jersey

By William B. Davis ,  Madison Dong ,  Judson Jones ,  John Keefe ,  Bea Malsky and Lazaro Gamio

Shake intensity

A light, 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck in New Jersey on Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake was felt across the New York City metropolitan area, and from Philadelphia to Boston.

The temblor happened at 10:23 a.m. Eastern about 4 miles north of Whitehouse Station, N.J., data from the agency shows.

As seismologists review available data, they may revise the earthquake's reported magnitude. Additional information collected about the earthquake may also prompt U.S.G.S. scientists to update the shake-severity map.

Aftershocks in the region

At 5:59 p.m. Eastern on Friday, a light aftershock with a magnitude of 3.8 struck near Gladstone, New Jersey, according to U.S.G.S. (The agency initially gave the quake a preliminary magnitude of 4.0.)

An aftershock is usually a smaller earthquake that follows a larger one in the same general area. Aftershocks are typically minor adjustments along the portion of a fault that slipped at the time of the initial earthquake.

Quakes and aftershocks within 100 miles

Aftershocks can occur days, weeks or even years after the first earthquake. These events can be of equal or larger magnitude to the initial earthquake, and they can continue to affect already damaged locations.

How this quake compares

The U.S.G.S. has logged 188 earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.5 or greater within a 250-mile radius of New York City since 1957. In that timeframe, only seven have had a magnitude at or above 4.5. Today’s quake had the third-highest magnitude in the available data.
