About football packages with Manchester United

Manchester United is one of the greatest football clubs in the world, both in terms of merits and in the number of fans. Since the beginning of the 90’s, United has been a force to be reckoned with in English as well as European football. Seldom is there a season without Manchester United winning at least on big title.

Manchester United has a policy about only offering tickets on the internet. If you are a member of the official Manchester United fan club, you’ll get a discounted price. The simplest way is to book hotel and game ticket or flights, game ticket and hotel in a package. Then you won’t have to puzzle together the different pieces of your football trip by yourself.

With 19 League titles (the latest in 2011), 11 wins in the FA Cup, four victories in the League Cup and three golds in Champions League, Manchester United is really a great club. Among the greatest stars in recent years we find Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. The last one is pretty much who manager Sir Alex Ferguson builds the entire team around.

Other things to do in Manchester

Manchester has shed itself of some of its industrial background, and today Manchester is a modern city with a youthful pulse. Good food, evening and night entertainment and top-notch shopping are just some of the activities that Manchester has on offer. If you enjoy going to night clubs, then you should really visit Manchester during the fall, when many exclusive night club concerts are arranged.

Briefly about Old Trafford

Old Trafford, nicknamed The Theatre of Dreams, is a mighty scene indeed. This is the place where the great English team Manchester United plays its home games, and often in front of sold-out seats. If Manchester United is your team then a visit to Old Trafford is something you simply have to do at least once in your life.

If you attend a Manchester United home game, you will be in the good company of around 75,000 other spectators. Old Trafford is the largest stadium for a club team in Great Britain. Only Wembley Stadium can hold more spectators than Old Trafford.

The stadium was built in 1909 and was by the standards of that time an impressive stadium. The first game at Old Trafford was played against Liverpool, which is now an arch rival of United. Sadly, United lost the game (3-4). During World War II, Old Trafford was badly hit by German bombers. United even had to abandon its stadium in favor for Manchester City’s Maine Road for almost ten years. Luckily, the stadium was rebuilt shortly after, and in 1949 they once again played their home games at Old Trafford. In modern times, Old Trafford has undergone significant changes. Up until the late 1990’s, the spectator capacity of the stadium steadily shrank. This was because of new rules for spectator safety that were being put into place. During the 1996 European Championships, Old Trafford could handle 56,000 spectators. Since then, the stadium has been expanded several times, and nowadays Old Trafford can hold 75,811 spectators according to official numbers.

Old Trafford resides in the neighborhood Trafford, about three kilometers from central Manchester. The simplest way to get to the stadium is by the tram from Piccadilly Station. The journey to Old Trafford Station takes around 15 minutes, and then you only have to walk for five minutes to get to the stadium. On game days there is also a special train that leaves from central Manchester to Old Trafford’s own railway station.

HAVING watched their team pick up its first piece of silverware of the season in the Community Shield final at Wembley, it’s now time for Manchester United fans to find out how the Red Devils will fare in the Premier League under new manager David Moyes.

Moyes’ Boys will kick off their first home match of the season against Chelsea on Monday August 26 and Northern Ireland’s leading independent specialist tour operator Travel Solutions is offering the club’s huge local fan base an easy, hassle free opportunity to experience the excitement at Old Trafford.

The tour operator has a range of travel options available to the Theatre of Dreams including day trip packages from just £119 per person, overnight ferry and coach packages from £159, weekend trips including an overnight stay from £259 and flight packages with hotel accommodation from £299. Travel Solutions is an official agent for Manchester United in Northern Ireland and Managing Director Peter McMinn says that the Old Trafford trips are amongst the company’s most popular packages.

“From the days when our own George Best donned the famous red short at Old Trafford, Manchester United has always had a huge following in Northern Ireland and a special relationship with local fans,” said Mr McMinn.

“As Manchester United’s official agent in Northern Ireland, we are delighted to be able to offer fans a variety of hassle-free options to give them the chance to cheer on their team,” said Peter, himself a life-long United supporter.

“The packages on offer take all the hassle out of organising a trip to Old Trafford with match tickets, ferry crossing or flights, coach travel where necessary, and a match day programme all included in the price. There are a range of different travel options available from daytrips with a return ferry crossing to ticket and flight packages with overnight hotel accommodation for fans who want to make a weekend of it with their friends or family,” he said.

“We have all the big matches covered including Arsenal on November 9, the Manchester derby on February 28 and arguably the biggest match against fierce rivals Liverpool on March 14 – so forget about watching the match down at the local pub and book now to sample the electric atmosphere of watching a live Premier League match at Old Trafford.

“We would urge fans to book early to avoid disappointment as these are amongst our most popular packages and tend to sell out very early,” he added.

The Travel Solutions Manchester United packages include luxury coach travel, where necessary, with local pick-up points available from Coleraine, Ballymoney, Cloughmills, Ballymena, Dunsilly, Belfast, Sprucefield, Newry, Dundalk and Drogheda (pick-up points may vary).

Leaving Belfast at silly o'clock?

Then not arriving back to Belfast the next morning, travelling the whole time. I was thinking of doing this but not sure.

Any advice would be great.

' class=

The big problem is getting a match ticket.

man utd trip from belfast

I'm sure many people have done it; a long day but viable with very careful planning.

The key issue is how to get a match ticket.

What are your plans for getting a ticket, are you a member, are you planning to buy the expensive hospitality tickets, how many tickets etc etc ?

Also which match; and bear in mind that Man U's match dates and KO times "frequently" change and don't get finalised until a few weeks beforehand.

It's a much easier trip if you fly across, tram from the airport and then back the same way, which is usually cheaper than ferries. As pointed out above though, you'll need to be a member, know that the match isn't likely to be moved (good luck with that) and get a ticket.(Good luck with that too).

Have you thought of contacting or even joining one of the ManU supporters clubs in NI. They are bound to run coaches to matches and would be your best bet for tickets. Quite often season ticket holders can't do and re-sell their tickets via the supporter clubs.

http://www.manutd.com/en/Fanzone/Local-Supporters-Clubs/Other-UK-and-Ireland/Northern-Ireland.aspx?pageNo=2

Otherwise it would be fairly easy to fly there and back the same day

Just to clarify - anyone can buy the hospitality tickets (no need to be a member for those). That's usually the optimal way of "guaranteeing" getting a ticket, but they are expensive and include a meal etc.

All Premier League matches went on sale to members only in mid June; and most have sold out, others are balloted to members only, and some will have a few extra tickets released nearer the match date to members.

Getting tickets is your key challenge, then there's the date change issue to plan around.

I know someone who does it regular. A season ticket holder who sits near me. To be honest the seat can be empty quite a lot of the season. Especially for night games. I'm sure they will turn up for the CL games though. This person even left at half time once..to all our bemusement. The only time I've seen someone leave at half time was when the old geezer who used to sit in front of me thought it was full time! . He was well oiled mind you. He cheerily said his goodbyes and see you next week!

From what I remember somebody saying, the Irish branches of the supporters clubs run coaches to games pretty much as the OP says, leaving early to travel to the game, and travelling back straight after so it is done in a 'day'.

1 Check the fixture list

3 Register as a member of MUFC

4 Try to predicts what day/ time the game will be played even trickier.

5 Apply to Utd for tickets.

6 Book flight when you know what day and time it's scheduled.

Or do what I do most of the time now ,watch it on telly.

' class=

Then you leave again for the sailing that evening.

Its a horrible journey..much better getting a 40 minute flight if you can..as I said I only take the boat option when the airlines bump their prices up.

Some operators do the trip via Dublin and Holyhead or via Scotland. The last time I done the boat to Scotland was about 23 years ago..less time on the boat but longer on the bus.

Paul Merson warns Man Utd's Marcus Rashford not to 'ruin career' as Chris Sutton calls Belfast trip 'unforgivable'

Having scored 30 goals in 2022/23, things have gone awry this term for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and the England international's paltry four-goal haul has been compounded by some off-field matters; Chris Sutton: "Going to Belfast is a big issue. It was unforgivable"

Paul Merson has warned Marcus Rashford that he can't be missing training with Manchester United if he's to fulfill his potential.

Paul Merson has warned Marcus Rashford not to "ruin his career", while Chris Sutton says the Manchester United forward's trip to Belfast was "unforgivable".

Ten Hag praised Rashford as the United forward produced an impressive response to days of negative headlines and an internal disciplinary during Thursday's dramatic 4-3 win at Wolves.

"I think the whole team played very good, Rashy as well," the Dutchman said. "Maybe you know that, you see the last games, there is coming about in the front line and if they get the service in the back they are a threat for every opposition."

But having scored 30 goals for the Red Devils in 2022-23, things have gone awry this term and Rashford's paltry five-goal haul has been compounded by some off-field matters.

The 26-year-old is reported to have gone out in Belfast last Thursday night until 3am and was unable to train the following day through illness, going on to miss Sunday's FA Cup win at Newport.

Chris Sutton has criticised Marcus Rashford's decision to go on a trip to Belfast, which has strained his relationship with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

Sky Sports pundit Sutton believes Rashford must now take more responsibility for his actions - and has called on the forward to focus on what he does best.

Sutton told Sky Sports: "We all know he's a talented player but he's lost his way in recent times. Erik ten Hag called him out and I thought that him going over to Belfast is a big issue. I thought it was unforgivable.

"It's his third offence and his third misdemeanour. Every player knows where the line is and Marcus Rashford crossed that line. I thought it was disrespectful to the manager and disrespectful to his team-mates.

Rashford goals so far

"The culture in the Manchester United dressing room hasn't been right for a while. From the outside, we've seen the Jadon Sancho stuff.

"We saw how Ten Hag dealt with Cristiano Ronaldo last season and at the end of that I thought that would be it, the manager won that battle, and I thought that everything would settle down.

"That hasn't been the case and the performances on the pitch haven't helped as Manchester United have struggled.

Neville: Rashford must be faultless until end of season

"There needs to be a certain amount of discipline in the dressing room and in most dressing rooms I've played in, they've policed themselves, but at this moment in time, it seems to be a problem.

"I suspect Rashford may outlast Ten Hag but he needs to get back to doing what he does best which is performing on the pitch with a Euros coming up."

Rashford is not the first player to face internal disciplinary proceedings, with Jadon Sancho banished from September and Cristiano Ronaldo released by mutual agreement during Ten Hag's first season.

Ten Hag brushed aside questions about whether the Rashford situation was a distraction or a test of his authority, but did speak about the difference to his handling of Sancho.

Merson: Southgate won't like Belfast trip

Ten Hag has used the phrase "case closed" repeatedly , including when asked outright about Rashford's reaction and whether the player had apologised for his actions.

The Dutchman was more forthcoming on the obligations for elite players and the onus being on them to maintain high standards, underlining the need for accountability, but said he takes potential matters going on behind the scenes into consideration when dealing with player behaviour.

Erik ten Hag is coming under increasing pressure

Merson told Sky Sports: "I back a lot of players because you don't know what is going on in their minds, you don't know what is going on behind the scenes. But you can't miss training. You can't.

"I remember when I was 17 and I went out with my cousin's boyfriend and I didn't get up for work in the morning - and my dad told me off so badly. I was 17 or 18 and he said: 'Do not ever miss training'. I never missed another day's training in my life, even when I went out.

"I was getting back at 6am and I still went to training out of respect. Not just for me, who had lost all respect, but for my team-mates and my manager. I can't back him on that, when you hear he was put back to bed at 3am.

"The lad has got the biggest talent in the world. Last year, he was unplayable. This year, I think I could do as well as him this season. Football is a short career, and the way the game is changing now - he only has four or five years left before he's 30 tops and you can party as much as you want. Don't ruin it, don't ruin it.

The Mirror's John Cross and The Athletic's David Ornstein debate whether Marcus Rashford's future remains at Manchester United.

"I think he's made a mistake - and I know he's made a few - but he can play. With Jadon Sancho, he was someone who didn't get going and didn't really turn it on. He proved that last season.

"But he's got to be careful. With Sancho, Man Utd had seen enough of him and said: 'he's not going to take us places'. With turning up late, Rashford has just got to get his head down.

"It's a short career and it soon goes. With Gareth Southgate, he's a disciplinarian. I know him, he was my captain at Villa and he doesn't like at that - the not turning up.

Thumbnail

"You've got England, who I think will win the Euros this summer, so you've got to be there. You can make history. Gareth knows the players, he ain't one of those managers who talks to you only when you turn up to England training.

"I read the Kyle Walker story this week and Gareth rang him up. If he thinks Rashford will win him the Euros, even just a little bit, then he will go. If he doesn't - and Ten Hag didn't think Sancho will take him anywhere - then he won't.

"He is young, 26. If I had known that when I was younger, it would have been a different story."

It was not long ago Marcus Rashford was leading Manchester United to their first silverware in six years. His 30 goals last season were bettered only by Harry Kane and Erling Haaland among Premier League players.

He scored 16 more goals than any team-mate last season. However, this season, four Manchester United players have scored more goals than him, and he is having one of his worst seasons on and off the field.

The 26-year-old's shots on target per 90 minutes have halved and his conversion rate has also fallen drastically compared to last season.

Marcus Rashford has struggled to find shooting opportunities inside the six-yard box this season

Interestingly, he is having more touches in the opposition box per 90, which means he is getting into goalscoring positions more often.

GRAPHIC

Additionally, the frequency of his completed dribbles has remained almost identical, so he is having similar success at taking on defenders as he did in previous, more fruitful campaigns.

GRAPHIC

The main issue this season is his shooting accuracy. His goals per 90, shots on target per 90 and conversion rate are the lowest they have been in any previous Premier League season.

Rashford on collision course with INEOS, not just Ten Hag

Marcus Rashford risks clashing with the 'clean culture' INEOS want to instil at Manchester United, writes Melissa Reddy

Marcus Rashford will mark eight years in the Manchester United first team next month. Seen as the reference point, it's time to start acting like it again, writes Melissa Reddy .

Marcus Rashford ‘takes responsibility for actions’ after Belfast trip and available for Manchester United selection

WIGAN, ENGLAND - JANUARY 08: Marcus Rashford of Manchester United looks on during the Emirates FA Cup Third Round match between Wigan Athletic and Manchester United at DW Stadium on January 08, 2024 in Wigan, England. (Photo by Naomi Baker/Getty Images)

Manchester United say Marcus Rashford has “taken responsibility for his actions” and will be available for selection for the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.

The Athletic reported Rashford went out in Belfast on Thursday night before reporting himself as too ill to attend Manchester United training the following day.

United say the disciplinary matter has been dealt with internally and is now closed.

The 26-year-old will return to training and is back in contention for selection, having been missing from the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round victory over Newport County.

Rashford attended a meeting with his brother and agent Dwaine Maynard, football director John Murtough and manager Erik ten Hag at Carrington on Monday, with United wanting to establish the truth about last week’s events in Belfast.

Sir Dave Brailsford also spoke separately to the United squad on Monday, explaining the INEOS approach to sporting excellence and the importance of standards.

United were informed that Rashford was out in the Northern Ireland capital on Wednesday night but the player also attended a nightclub the following evening, hours before being scheduled to report for a club training session.

Rashford attended Thompsons Garage nightclub in the Northern Ireland capital on Thursday night, returning to Manchester on a private flight the following morning.

Both Manchester United and Rashford’s camp declined to comment when contacted by The Athletic .

United said ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup match that Rashford was unavailable through illness and that he had stayed at their Carrington training facilities to continue his recovery. It is understood he trained alone at Carrington on Sunday.

At full-time, Ten Hag insisted when asked to give further information on the forward’s unavailability: “He reported ill. The rest is an internal matter. I will deal with it.”

In November, the United boss described Rashford attending a nightclub after his side’s 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby as “unacceptable”.

“I spoke with him about it. It’s unacceptable. He apologised and that is it. For us it’s an internal matter,” Ten Hag said.

“He’s very motivated to put things right. He’s totally with us.

“He has made a mistake but that doesn’t say he’s not fitting in. I see him every day in training, what he’s doing, I know.”

Marcus Rashford missed Manchester United's 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport County at Rodney Parade on Sunday.

The forward was absent from the matchday squad due to illness. Rashford did not train on Friday when he reported ill. He was photographed out in Belfast earlier this week. The 26-year-old had visited Northern Ireland to see friend and former United youth-team player Ro-Shaun Williams - who plays for Larne.

It remains to be seen whether Rashford will return to United's squad for their Premier League trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday evening. Here's everything we know about the situation with Rashford.

What happens next?

United are next in action on Thursday when they take on Wolves. Ten Hag is set to give further clarity on whether Rashford will be deemed well enough to play in his pre match press conference ahead of the game.

Where is Rashford now?

According to the club, Rashford is in Manchester. The forward is said to have spent Sunday at Carrington to train as part of his recovery.

What Man United have said

At 3.30pm, when the United XI was revealed for their clash with Newport, Rashford's absence was explained on Manutd.com : "Marcus Rashford is absent because he was not well enough to be in the squad, following illness."

What Erik ten Hag has said

On Friday, Ten Hag confirmed that Rashford had missed training. "This morning, Rashford was ill and (Jonny) Evans was ill so we have to see how they recover."

Following reports from The Athletic that Rashford went out in Belfast before reporting himself too ill to attend training, Ten Hag was quizzed on the matter again on Sunday. Speaking to BBC Sport before kick-off, he said: "He reported ill. Let's say, it’s an internal matter, I’ll deal with it. It’s an internal matter."

In his post-match press conference, he remained coy on the matter. "So he reported ill, for the rest it's an internal matter, I deal with it," he said. "As I said, it's an internal matter."

"For you (it raises more questions than answers), but not for me. It's an internal matter, I will deal with it."

When asked if this was indicative of the "no-good culture" Ten Hag inherited, the Dutchman said: "I don't go in this case, I've talked before about it. I think we played a good game and now we move on. We will deal with it, I will deal with it."

When it was suggested it would be unacceptable for Rashford to have lied, Ten Hag added: "Maybe more questions about the game."

In November, Ten Hag described Rashford's decision to attend a nightclub after United's 3-0 Manchester derby defeat as "unacceptable". "I spoke with him about it. It's unacceptable," he said. "He apologised and that is it. For us it's an internal matter. He's very motivated to put things right. He's totally with us."

Why was he in Belfast?

The United forward was spotted enjoying himself on a night out at bars and clubs in Belfast this week. Reports have claimed Rashford was spotted in venues. He was apparently at Lavery's Bar on Bradbury Place and Thompsons Garage nightclub in the city centre. On Thursday he visited Larne Football Club where he met players and staff at the club's Academy of Sport.

Marcus Rashford visited Northern Ireland earlier this week

Rashford signed autographs and posed for photos with some of Larne's emerging youngsters, and also met head of recruitment and big United fan Gerry Flynn. Flynn told Belfast Live that Rashford made the trip to Northern Ireland to visit his best pal and new Larne signing Ro-Shaun Williams.

Who was our Man of the Match at Bournemouth?

man utd trip from belfast

Belfast to Dublin rail service will see sub-two hour journey times after £140m investment

 • Northern Ireland
 • Tuesday 9 April 2024 at 5:48pm

man utd trip from belfast

Belfast to Dublin rail journeys will take less than two hours as new trains are set to replace the current fleet.

The PEACEPLUS programme funding of £140million for the cross-border rail service was announced on Tuesday.

The ‘Enterprise Fleet Replacement Programme’ will see eight new sets of trains replace the four sets currently operating the Belfast-Dublin service.

The programme aims to have the new trains operating from 2029 and operating an hourly timetable of services, and reduce journey times to "at least 1 hour 55 minutes."

The trains will initially be electric and battery power, however PEACEPLUS says they "can be converted into fully electric operation in the future" as part of the goal of an all-island electric rail corridor.

Figures from all governments involved said that this service will support movement towards decarbonisation or net zero goals.

It is also hoped the investment will improve accesibility and passenger exeperience.

Funding for the project is also coming from the Department of Infrastructure and the Irish Department of Transport.

Infratstructure Minister John O'Dowd said it was an "exciting time for rail travel" and that the new fleet, "will pave the way for the Enterprise service to become the first electrified inter-city service on the island which will support our decarbonisation commitments".

He added: "The investment will improve the experience of people travelling by train and encourage others to use these services. By doing so you will be playing your part in our shared journey to net zero as well as enjoying the many benefits to be gained by rail travel.”

Eamon Ryan TD, the Department of Transport Minister in the Republic of Ireland welcomed the investment in a "flagship" service, saying that it is a "well-known symbol of North-South cooperation and this replacement programme is a key priority of both Governments.

"The programme will significantly improve accessibility between the two largest cities on the island through increased service frequency and a faster journey time. "This is another indication of the ambition we have to put the island of Ireland on track for a new age of rail, connecting more cities and towns and opening up quality rail service to more people. "The funding for this programme under the PEACEPLUS programme and from both Government Departments demonstrates the positive impact cooperation has on meeting our shared goals of a cleaner, greener, interconnected all-island future.”

PEACEPLUS is a programme run in partnership between the European Union, the UK and Irish governments and the Northern Ireland Executive.

The programme is worth €1.14billion (£976m) and is managed by the EU.
