I have a 2009 Journey R/T with 3.6L V6 AWD and for a while have been experiencing battery drain whenever the vehicle is left for more than a few hours. After several unsuccessful attempts at finding out the cause for this, I decided to temporarily install a 500A switch to isolate the battery from the rest of the vehicle's electrical system, to prevent having to jumpstart the vehicle every morning. This has been effective in this regard for a while now, however, the other day while travelling on the highway the vehicle started experiencing a loss of power for a second or so, then power would be restored, and this would randomly repeat for the remainder of my trip.

Then, upon my arrival at my destination city, when coming up to a stop sign and the engine idled down, the power loss occurred again only this time the engine died. When I attempted to start it immediately after this, I found there was no charge left in the battery whatsoever - no dash lights,no sound....couldn't even shift from park without using the manual release button.

I then used a charged battery to boost the vehicle, and it fired up, but after continuing to drive a short distance, the same thing happened again, I then noticed the battery symbol for the charging system had appeared. Then the vehicle could only been driven with limited power and only without using any headlights for a short time (constantly requiring me to press the accelerator to prevent idling too low) before it would die again with the battery drained.

I have checked all the connections, all the cables, swapped the battery for a different one, removed the battery and jumpered it directly to another running vehicle, all with the same result. It will fire up, and run for a short time, then the charging system symbol will light up, and the engine will die shortly thereafter. It will run for a while jumpered to another vehicle, but even during this time the warning light will still come on. I removed the alternator and had it tested - it passed all tests and I was told it was good. I should also mention that this alternator was purchased and installed just 8 or 9 months ago, and the battery was only purchased a month or two ago. The belts appears to be working properly and with the correct amount of tension, and as far as I can see all of the conncections are solid and free of corrosion, etc.

I'm uncertain as to where I should go from here, and after being left stranded several hours from home for a few days now (everywhere being closed for Christmas) and the expense of hotel rooms, I don't wish to throw a bunch more money away for the dealership to try all the things I've already tried, with no guarantee of results. I am planning to run a diagnostic tomorrow to see if this yields any additional information as to the possible cause of the problem, but am hoping maybe another forum member could provide some insight if they have encountered a similar issue in the past. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Not a definitive troubleshooting guide, but here's a couple of suggestions on where to start: I know that sometimes the pulley can be an issue - if the pulley is spinning on the alternator shaft you might get a no-charge condition. But there are two points you raised that make me suspect that this could be a corrosion issue - incidentally, I have my vehicles rustproofed mainly to avoid electrical issues related to corrosion; 1. You said the power cut and was restored

2. You indicated a battery drain condition

It could be that you have a seriously corroded connector or relay - if there's enough salty, partially conductive crud on a key connector or relay you could lose battery power and/or charging - or it could be a corroded crimp or worn relay . . . . and corrosion might cause a sneak current between the two poles of the connector when it is damp or wet - and that would cause the battery to drain. This is going to need some poking into the electricals to see where things are going wrong - now that it doesn't charge at all it shouldn't be hard to figure out why that is happening . . . the sneak current is going to be a bit trickier - you will need to measure current as you disconnect things - the good news is that you have that new switch you can use to connect your ampmeter to while you disconnect circuits to see which one is causing issues . . . . by the way do you have any aftermarket devices installed? A car starter or aftermarket alarm system perhaps? If you do, look to those first. It is down right now, but you can find the electrical diagrams here: https://techauthorityonlinedemo.extra.chrysler.com/service/repair/wiring/view/classic.htm

Thanks for the reply. To answer your question no there are no aftermarket devices installed. It does have a remote start but I believe it is OEM. I should mention that we did put a voltmeter on it while it was running and the voltage did seem to be in the range to charge the battery, well over 14 or 14.5 volts and it seemed to respond to an increase in engine rpm to some degree. As well, the batteries I've had connected to the vehicle do seem to hold a charge somewhat, but it doesn't seem to be a charge that's a result of being charged by the alternator, but rather if it were left from being hooked up to a charger. And in the instances where the engine died while the vehicle was running, attempting to start it immediately afterward showed there was no charge left in the battery. Another possibly unrelated thing i might mention is that I noticed a couple of times while the engine was off there was a relay clicking wildly and loudly for probably a minute at least when no power should have been drawing. I thought this might be normal when a battery has a very low level of charge but in not really sure.

If you are measuring 14.2 volts across the battery terminals with the engine running and if the battery is good it *should* be charging unless the alternator is kicking out AC or really dirty DC, rather than clean power. You indicated that the alternator had been professionally tested, which *should* eliminate it from consideration as the source of the problem. But that testing is not longer term - the alternator is cold and run for a couple of minutes - it never gets really warmed up. The alternator output is wired directly across the battery - in some installations (I haven't had a look at the wiring diagram for the Journey) there could be a relay that disconnects the alternator from the battery - in which case that relay and/or it's connections could be the source of problems, but if it was, or if the connectors or terminals were issues you would not see the battery getting the charging voltage . . . . are you measuring the actual battery terminals? Or are you measuring voltage at the connectors at the ends of the wire?

Batteries (especially cheaper aftermarket ones) have been known to have a high failure rate - your battery might be have a high resistance bond or a bad cell - of course you could also have a bad alternator too . . . it could go bad when it gets warmed up - again, possibly a bad bond in the rectifier/regulator pack or a bad connection. Regarding the discharging; You said you have a starter - if it has it's own fob then it is aftermarket - my understanding is that like the current version, if you have a factory starter the buttons are on the key fob.

I agree with Bamfrank. The alternator can be fine when cold, but once it warms up you get a bad connection and no charge. The fact that the battery light is coming on is telling you that the battery is not being charged for some reason. The fact that its off at first and then comes on once hot leads me to believe your alternator is bad. Can you possibly charge your battery enough so you can start the car ( not fully charged, you want a load on the alternator) start the car and check the amperage & voltage at the alternator right away. Now let it run long enough for the light to come on and check the amperage and voltage again in the same spot. If the amps/volts are low, alternator is bad. If theamps/volts are normal, the problem is between the alternator and battery.

Hunting down electrical issues can be a pain in the ass, but you cant run around with spare batteries everywhere you go!

Let us know how you make out......

Just out of curiosity, where did you purchase the battery and alternator?

Both the alternator and battery were purchased at A Napa auto parts store earlier this year. And the voltage was tested mostly at the terminals on top where te cable from the battery branches off to the fuse box and starter/alternator (where you attach booster cables). I'll try testing the voltage again here today and update you. Thanks.

Good. I was hoping you wouldn't say Auto Zone!

Dont think you have a 3.6 in an 09 3.5 perhaps?

I have the same issue with my 2011 journey crew. Installed new battery gold series. Has to be jumped after few hours. Of sitting And 2 codes coming up throttle body sensor circuit and low voltage. Let me know how you make out with yours. Thx.

Ran a diagnostic and I have a bunch of codes that come up:

C2100 battery voltage low

C2101 battery voltage high

C2115 dynamics sensor supply voltage high

C0562 system voltage low

C121c torque request signal denied

Any thoughts?

My codes are PO 123 and PO 562. Lost no clue

The only way the battery voltage is too high is if the alternator is delivering too much voltage . . assuming your BCM is good and the measurement is right . . or you have a bad ground - bad grounds are the bane of the repair shop.

Anybody ever had the battery dead the next morning as if he accessory was staying on ? Having an issue with

My 2011 journey crew.

I have not but there is a TSB for exactly that issue, but im not sure what years (didnt apply to 09). It has been discussed many many times here. Mayby try a search, or perhaps someone else will chime in.....

I have had it happen to me two times, each in a different vehicle. Both times it was a battery with a bad cell. Good one day, dead the next day.

I wonder if it could be the crankshaft position sensor? The electronics are going crazy because they have no idea what position the crankshaft is in at any given moment.

The 3.6 has variable valve timing, i believe on both the intake and exhaust valves: for economy, power and emissions. If the engine does not have any idea what position the crankshaft is in, none of this stuff can work properly. To lose charge as fast as you do, there has to be a dead short somewhere. Once the voltage drops below the optimum threshold, all of the electronics go crazy.

Folks, please limit responses to the OP's (Lisa Brown) issue. We get too many side conversations going on and it can be frustrating to the OP.

Can you just split this into two threads?

If we had the admins and others mods active maybe one of them could. I can only hide posts and move complete threads. Can't move posts to new threads. Not in my limited list of actions I can perform.

2010 DODGE JOURNEY PROBLEMS

After releasing the worst model year in 2009, Dodge Journey improved its design with the new 2010 Dodge Journey model year. While the model year had lots of improvements, it still was ranked as the second-worst model year according to the carcomplaints.com website. This website intends to allow vehicle owners to report complaints about any issue they face during the lifetime of their vehicles.

2010 dodge journey electrical problems

According to carcomplaints.com, the total reported complaints decreased from 962 to 471 between the years 2009 and 2010. 471 is still a high number of complaints when it comes to vehicles. The most-reported complaints about the 2010 Dodge Journey had to do with the brakes and electrical problems.

Luckily, the highest complaints reported about 2010 Dodge Journey problems were related to issues that required relatively lower repairs costs. In other words, less reported complaints had to do with engine or transmission failure. Since this is the case, the high number of complaints doesn’t always suggest staying away from the vehicle model and year. Any new buyer should consider the number of complaints along with the type of problems before making the buying decision.

The long list of reported complaints did not prevent people from buying the 2010 Dodge Journey. The car has a lot of pros, including the very nice interior and the great safety scores. The vehicle was ranked as one of the top 2010 affordable SUVs with three rows, 2010 affordable Midsize SUVs, 2010 affordable crossover SUVs, according to cars.usnews.com .

In this article, we would like to provide an overview of the main 2010 Dodge Journey aspects. Then, we will walk you through the most commonly reported problems by owners to carcomplaints.com . Along with the problem, we will also list the common repair options and costs in addition to the problem ranking.

2010 Dodge Journey description

Before we discuss the different problems associated with the 2010 Dodge Journey, we would like to provide a high-level description of the main aspects of this vehicle. This description is based on intensive research from different trusted resources.

2010 Dodge Journey is the second model year by Dodge Journey. The vehicle seats up to five passengers, and it has a relatively good fuel economy. Other than these features, the owners did not like other aspects of this car, especially the poor interior and cheap-fealing material.

The 2010 Dodge Journey gets from 15 to 19 miles per gallon on the city roads and 23 to 25 miles per gallon on the highways. The vehicle comes with two options, a four-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive, and it gives from 173 to 235 horsepower.

This car comes with a 2.4 L four-cylinder engine and has the option for a 3.5 L V6 engine. These engine options are associated with either a four or six-speed automatic transmission, and the total curb weight ranges from 3,796 to 4,239 lb.

According to Kelly Blue Book, you can get a 2010 Dodge Journey for about $21,000 as the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP.)

2010 Dodge Journey Problems

In an improvement to the 2009 Dodge Journey, Dodge Journey came up with the new 2010 model year in the hope that it resolved all the problems reported by its owners. However, this 2010 vehicle still has a high number of reported complaints, according to carcomplaints.com.

Most of the 2010 Dodge Journey problems are related to the brakes, electrical system, interior, engine, and others. In this section, we will highlight the most commonly reported problem for each category.

2010 Dodge Journey brakes problems

About 181 of the 471 reported 2010 Dodge Journey problems are associated with the brakes. This indicates that there is a real issue with the model design when it comes to brakes capabilities and quality. In general, the reported complaints were related to brake and rotor wear, grinding noise, squealing brakes, and locked up brakes.

The majority of reported 2010 Dodge Journey brakes problems were associated with a premature tear and wear in the brake itself of the rotor. These problems were resolved by replacing the pads, rotors, and brakes. The repair cost was about $410 on average, and this problem occurred mostly at vehicles around 33,000 miles. The problem was ranked as “Pretty Bad,” according to carcomplaints.com ranking.

A good number of owners reported that their brakes would start grinding whenever you use them. When trying to resolve the issue, they were told that it’s either the front rotors or the brake pads. On average, the grinding was resolved by replacing the front rotors pads for about $100. A grinding brake was reported mostly by vehicles around 40,000 miles, and the problem was ranked as “Pretty Bad,” as well.

Furthermore, the 2010 Dodge Journey brakes might keep sticking. Several owners had to replace the calipers, brake lines, rotors, and bled brakes multiple times in a row. The website did not include information about the best repair options or repair costs. However, it mentioned that sticking brakes might occur at vehicles around 53,000 miles. the problem was also ranked as “Pretty Bad.”

2010 Dodge Journey electrical system problems

The second most reported complaints about the 2010 Dodge Journey vehicle were related to the electrical system. These complaints had to do with the engine not starting, issues with the TIPM, faulty horn, and dead battery.

More than 50 people reported that their 2010 Dodge Journey engine wouldn’t start due to electrical system issues. The problem can be resolved by replacing the TIMP or installing a better battery quality. In general, repairing this problem costs most owners about $550 on average. The problem would mostly occur at vehicles around 65,000 miles, and it was ranked as “Pretty Bad.”

Another group of owners reported defective TIPM problems associated with their 2010 Dodge Journey, in at least one case, the faulty TIPM resulted in totaling the vehicle. Overall, most owners were able to resolve the problem by replacing the TIPM module for about $1,100. The problem occurred mostly with vehicles around 70,000 miles, and it was ranked as “Pretty Bad.”

Furthermore, the 2010 Dodge Journey horn might start blowing without control due to issues with computer updates that cost most owners about $300. The blown horn problem occurred mostly with vehicles at 100,000 miles, and it was ranked as “Pretty Bad.”

Lastly, the 2010 Dodge Journey was reported to have a dead battery continuously by more than ten people. They all had to replace the battery for about $510. A dead battery issue occurred mostly at vehicles around 80,000 miles, and the problem was described as “Pretty Bad,” as well.

Following the brakes and the electrical system, many people reported issues with their interiors. Most reported 2010 Dodge Journey interior problems are related to a broken accelerator pedal, doors and windows unlocked, and stereo not working.

Several complaints were reported that the 2010 Dodge Journey accelerator pedal broke on its own without any pressure or harsh use of the vehicle. Replacing the pedal cost most of them about $230, and the problem occurred at about 50,000 miles. a broken accelerator pedal was ranked as “Pretty Bad.”

One reported problem has to do with the vehicle’s safety. At least one owner mentioned that the electronic unlock system doesn’t work properly; when they lock the car at night, they wake up the second morning with windows down, and doors unlocked on its own. This problem was very concerning and increased the risk of stealing the vehicle. While the website did not include information about repair options or repair costs, it did mention that this problem occurs at about 80,000 miles. the problem got a rank of “Fairly Significant.”

The last problem we would like to highlight here is the stereo issues with the 2010 Dodge Journey. A couple of owners mentioned that the stereo wouldn’t work properly for no reason, knowing that their car is at about 155,000 miles. the problem was resolved by replacing the entire stereo part, and it was described as “Fairly Significant.”

2010 Dodge Journey engine problems

Engine problems are the last problems any driver would like to deal with. Unfortunately, the 2010 Dodge Journey engine problems were the fourth most reported issues associated with this vehicle. These issues require higher repair costs, especially if they needed a complete engine replacement.

Luckily, the majority of reported engine problems for the 2010 Dodge Journey was resolved by replacing the EGR valve or the wireless ignition node for about $100. These vehicles were at about 75,000 miles, and the problem was ranked as “Pretty Bad.”

The second group of reported engine issues were a little more complicated and required higher repair costs. For instance, a good number of owners reported that their check engine keeps illuminating without a clear reason. To resolve the problem, they had to either replace the powertrain control module or the front and rear heads. Resolving this problem cost most owners about $2,500, and most of these vehicles were at about 50,000 miles. The problem was ranked as “Pretty Bad,” as well.

Finally, a couple of owners reported a complete engine failure with vehicles at 70,000. These owners indicated a full frustration as they maintained regular maintenance to their vehicles.

2010 Dodge Journey other problems

So far, we listed the most commonly reported problems by 2010 Dodge Journey owners. In this section, we grouped all less frequently reported problems associated with their repair costs, options, and problem ranking. Note that, due to the long list of reported issues, we only included the most important and common complaint about each category.

In this section, we included the 2010 Dodge Journey AC and heating system, transmission, wheels, steering, exterior, and light issues.

2010 Dodge Journey AC and heating problems

If you are driving a 2010 Dodge Journey, don’t be surprised if you had a faulty heating system, AC blowing hot air, or a damaged fan switch because these are a very common reported AC and heating system issues.

2010 Dodge Journey transmission problems

Although the 2010 Dodge Journey did not have a large number of complaints related to its transmission, the very few complaints required high repairs costs.

For instance, a couple of owners reported that their transmission would bang into the gear when stopping. Others indicated that their transmission would jerk and make very loud noises when being used. Furthermore, the transmission might start vibrating for no reason.

Overall, carcomplaints.com did not include any information about repair options and repair costs for problems with the 2010 Dodge Journey transmission.

2010 Dodge Journey wheels problems

The most common reported 2010 Dodge Journey wheels problems were associated with premature tire wear and TPMS sensors rotting out. Owners had to pay about $900 to resolve most issues associated with their wheels.

2010 Dodge Journey steering problems

2010 Dodge Journey steering problems were also very few with a total of only five complaints about some leaks in the steering fluid, noise when driving, and disconnection in the power steering hose. Most reported steering repair costs were relatively low, at about $100.

2010 Dodge Journey lights problems

The last problem we would like to highlight here is the 2010 Dodge Journey lights problem. At least four owners reported that their headlights burnt out continuously despite the regular repair.

In an attempt to address all reported problems in the 2009 model year, Dodge Journey released good improvements in its 2010 model year. Vehicle owners reported Desipte the improvements, more than 471 complaints to carcomplaints.com website. This website is meant to allow owners to report any problems they face during the lifetime of their vehicles.

Most reported 2010 Dodge Journey complaints had to do with the brakes, electrical system, and interior. Less reported complaints were associated with more complicated problems like the engine or the transmission.

The intend of this article is to educate current 2010 Dodge Journey owners about what type of mechanical problems they will face. Furthermore, this article can help new buyers make the best decision about buying this model year or not.

Electrical System Problems of Dodge Journey - part 1

Dodge Journey owners have reported 1,205 problems related to electrical system (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Journey based on all problems reported for the Journey.

1 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

Abs, brake, and traction light coming on coded c2200-49 told there was a recall and when I called the dealership they said it wasn't for my vehicle but they couldn't even order the part because they're having to replace them on so many and they are not in stock anywhere until after April 15th. If this has been an issue with other vehicles and is currently an issue with mine why is it not under the recall??? 2012 Dodge Journey sxt. See all problems of the 2012 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

2 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Dodge Journey

Won't start. Multiple repairs and it still happens. Online forums say it's common on 2009-2017 year models. See all problems of the 2015 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

3 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Dodge Journey

I will be driving the vehicle and it will go completely dark, no electrical function, shuts right off in the middle of traffic. After a period of time, everything will power back up. This happens randomly and is very dangerous. I took the car to the dealer and initially, they said it was the battery. I replaced the battery and just as I got in the car at the dealer, the car went dark again. This time they were able to see that it is still happening and so far they have not been able to find the cause. I've read online about at least 3 other people having the same issue with no solution found to date. Currently the vehicle is at courtesy Chrysler in tampa, FL. See all problems of the 2019 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

4 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Dodge Journey

The driver side window randomly stops working. The motor and the switches have been tested and are functioning correctly. There is no known cause at this time.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Dodge Journey

The vehicle shuts off while driving. It has occurred 6 times over the course of a year. It results in a total loss of power, steering, brakes creating a very unsafe scenario. It has happened 5 times while doing above 35 mph and in one case above 50 mph and resulting in one missed stop sign. This creates a tremendous level of anxiety. I have taken it in on four occasions to reputable repair facilities christian brothers automotive for repair three times soon to be four times and carmax once. Three times I was turned away with no help only inspection fees. The fourth time christian brothers replaced cam shaft sensors only to have another incident while driving 40mph down the road. Thankfully I was able to stop safely and now I have another appointment scheduled for service. I feel like there is a safety miss on this vehicle. See all problems of the 2017 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

6 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Dodge Journey

Under heavy braking conditions the vehicles abs system did not engage and the vehicle slid losing control. There was a safety recall r61 which was documented as completed 20 may 2016, but inspection of the abs ground wire shows it in its original position when compared to page 18 of the recall instruction. There has been no work on the abs module since the recall. See all problems of the 2014 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

7 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Dodge Journey

The car lost power and wouldn't speed up. Could have been rear ended. We had the abs light come on,the traction control light on, the air bag light on and a few more I didn't recognize they came on and went out so fast. Had to pull over and restart the car.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Dodge Journey

Suddenly brown smoke came out when I started a car and tried to roll down the window. My husband pulled out the controller which seems to be the cause of the smoke from the wire.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

The car will turn systems of the car off and own without anyone touching anything windows rolling up on their, traction turning off, and climate controls and a/c coming on by itself. I contacted stellantis last year about this vehicle and received no substantial resolution. This exact thing happened when I owned a 2014 Dodge Journey and I submitted the same complaint. I have taken video of this occurrence, there is no way to demonstrate issue via still photo. See all problems of the 2018 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I (and several other owners of a Dodge Journey vehicle) have noticed the horn sounding randomly. Myself and others with the same complaint believe it to be a faulty/failing horn contact switch, located in the steering wheel. (I believe it is mopar part # 5189428ac ) the safety concern is that horn sounds randomly. When this happens while stopped at red lights, motorists in front of me tend to rapidly accelerate into cross traffic. I believe the safety concern is self explanatory. As it is a random occurrence, it has not been confirmed by a dealership. (though there are countless videos posted to youtube as well as complaints posted to message boards. ) there are no warning lamps or indications that a connection is faulty/failing. According to my research, this has been an ongoing issue for Dodge Journey owners for several years. See all problems of the 2010 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

12 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Horn honks randomly will driving or turned off/parked. Windows go up/down on their own. Locks/unlocks. Wipers turn on/off. Emergency flashers turn on/blink all on their own. Appears to be an issue with security system. Replaced tipm and still having issues with all of the above. My truck is dead every day, replaced battery twice & crack shaft sensor, still having issues. There is a ticking noise and sounds like my truck is trying to turn itself on without the key in the ignition. Airbag light will not go off. This vehicle is 13 years old and Dodge needs to do a recall for all the issues people are reporting.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Dodge Journey

My vehicle has been stalling out while driving, to the point of the brakes lock up, once it’s in park you can’t get it out of park, or can’t get the vehicle to turn off while stalled out, literally have to disconnect the battery, and reconnect it to maybe get the car a fresh start to turn over and return power to systems. The check engine light pops on when stalled but not normally and is coding for crankshaft position sensor a circuit. My vehicle apparently doesn’t have an open recall; but have seen this same issue has been a recall on the same year, make, and model, just not mine. The Dodge dealership would rather me sell them my car and buy a new one. See all problems of the 2016 Dodge Journey 🔎 .

15 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Dodge Journey

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while at a complete stop at the traffic light, the vehicle shut off. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to her residence. The vehicle was then towed to the independent mechanic, where the battery and the alternator were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the check engine warning light, the traction control warning light, the abs warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle then shut off temporarily. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

A stall/no start condition situation occurred while driving, and has occurred a few times over the last couple of weeks. I have had the issue checked by a trusted mechanic, and it was suggested that the power control module(pcm) would likely need to be replaced. No warning lamps appeared prior to the problem, but appeared when the stall/no start condition situation occurred. The most recent occurrance of the problem was on Saturday, October 4th, 2023. I located on the NHTSA website that there is a recall listed, NHTSA campaign number: 18v524000, for replacement of the pcm. On 11/06/2023 I spoke with Chrysler support, according to them a recalibration of the pcm was done on 01/07/2021, and they will not support replacing the pcm because it has been more than 2 years. According to the customer rep, the unit was just recalibrated, and not replaced, but the remedy in the recall notice states that dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

The car shifts super hard into second gear. The inside smells like the car is over heating, driving down the interstate the car losses power, you can push your foot to the floor and nothing, the car will not excelerate at all. It's extremely dangerous. You have to pull over turn the car off and then on again to get it to go. This happens about every 20 minutes or so,the heat only works in the driver vent and the smell gives you a headache and makes you sick to your stomach. The vehicle is not safe at all. The catalytic converter gives gas off into the cabin.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Dodge Journey

I was sitting in the house and heard a loud boom, looked outside and my Dodge Journey was on fire. I called 911 to get to the fire department, and went outside with the fire ext. And the fire was on the left rear of the truck. I put the fire out on the outside but it was burning on the in side and could not get the doors open. The bardstown ky fire department arrived and put the fire out. The fire department took pictures and are making a report. There is no reason this truck caught on fire. The wires were burnt on the tail light on the left rear and the inside of the truck. My insurance has pictures also bardstown ky fire department.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

My back up camera isn't working and none of the locks work with the key fob. I bought my car from a car lot and it was a fleet car and it says all recalls have been fixed but my car hasn't been fixed at all and I don't know why. My car won't even charge my phone at all in either port so it has a big wiring problem. I have kids and grandkids in my car all the time and I can not see behind me because my camera hasn't worked since the day I got it which is 10/20/23 and that is really dangerous and I can't even charge my phone to call someone even if I do have an accident.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

The headlights in the "auto" position will turn on the headlights and then after 5 or so minutes of driving, the interior dash board will dim and brighten, and then the headlights turn off entirely. If you move them off the "auto" position, the headlights will not turn on even when switched to the headlights. When you switch back to auto, it puts the brights on instead of the standard headlights. Rinse and repeat while driving, lights on/off/then only brights.

My ac or radio will turn on when ever it wants. I can turn my stuff off up to 18 times in a day. I have no control over my units front or back. I have spoken to neighbors CO workers and strangers who have the same car. Every last person I have talked to is having the same issue with this car. I have taken my car while it was under warranty to have the issue taken care of. They will not do anything since they don't witnes it happening. This should definitely be a recal.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Dodge Journey

My car intermittent just shuts down while driving on the road without warning and has done so 4 times now with my family in it as this is the family car. Thank god no one has been hurt or any accidents at this time. When it shuts down you loose control of the vehicle and the steering wheel locks and unable to move safely off the road you have to stop in the middle of traffic and put it in neutral and get out and push it off the road! I have had it sent to two shops to find the problem and they both come up with the crank shaft sensor the first one replaced and the problem still happens! so the 2nd shop a Dodge dealership has diagnosed the same problem but then they say the recall s89 is the problem with my vehicle but because my vehicle was made 6 months before the start of the recall they say I have to fix the problem out of pocket and I refuse to do it! if there is a known problem and a fix for it on a recall then the recall date should be changed to include older models with the same issues. Thank you for any and all assistance in this matter.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

The vehicles warning lights have all lit up and the engine has stalled. We have taken it to multiple mechanics and they believe it to be the voltage regulator chip that is faulty which is accusing the engine to stall. It has also lost the back up camera capabilities which is also another recall of the 2018 Dodge Journey.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the adaptive cruise control (acc) mode failed to disengage as intended and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the windshield wipers engaged unintendedly and remained engaged after the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road. The contact's husband disconnected the battery terminals to turn off the windshield wipers; however, the vehicle failed to restart upon reconnecting the battery terminals. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Dodge Journey

29 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

While driving car at 45 mph car stalled. Unable to start car. Continued to read service awd system as well as press clutch to start car, the car is an automatic with no clutch. Once started continued to stall while driving. Check engine light, battery light illuminated while driving not while car stalled.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Dodge Journey

The car inside electrical would turn on, radio on, lighting on, fan on, but the engine light would be on and the car would not start. Not even a tow truck can jump it. I've fixed it once and they said it was the alternator, but that was 6 mths ago.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Dodge Journey

We had problems with axels. After that the throttle control system light would turn on. Now the backup camera doesnt work and we changed everything and still doesnt work. Currently the car starts getting hot when we drive in the freeway and the ac blows hot air.

32 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Dodge Journey

The electrical is so messed up the battery drains within hours, I have shorts in all aspects of this car(bluetooth, navigation, clicking relays nonstop, heat goes out intermittently, power switches on doors. I saw my headlights surging in power in the middle of nowhere, they would get bright, then go dim, then a battery icon illuminated on my dashboard before my car downshifted so hard I almost lost control of the car. The dealer replaced my motor mounts and my alternator, after calling to say my battery is bad and then turned around and said it wasn’t. Not to mention my brakes locked up in a little rain and I couldn’t stop crashing through a wall. Replaced my rear light turning bulb and it exploded with fire when I went to change it. The suspension is horrible and I am pretty sure my cv axles are all broken. Everything keeps breaking. Lifter taps intermittently, rough idling and hard shifting. Key fob doesn’t start car or is recognized with fresh batteries in it. When I jump start it sometimes the horn goes off for a minute. The reverse camera goes out for days and randomly comes on again. Under the hood feels so extremely hot and for some reason it doesn’t register as overheating. Even when I check fluids and for the coolant levels are low for some reason. There is an actuator that constantly is going off under the dash. Airbags didn’t deploy when I hit the wall at all. The limp mode has come on and gone off a few times. Only codes I have is for tps and an outdoor ambient temperature sensor that says it’s either negative 40 degrees or 122 degrees. Which won’t let me clear nor allow me to remote start. Warranty is gone and when you take the fuse box cover off under the hood(just the cover) it goes haywire shaking and lights all over the dash and I have to shut the car off. Yes somebody please inspect this vehicle. The absolute worst vehicle I owe 12k on and I can’t afford to fix all of this that’s shutting down at the same time.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Car constantly does not start. I have had to have it towed multiple times after driving places because it just decides to not start. The starter cranks but does not start. Then out of the blue it starts again and will start every day for weeks and then not start again. This started happening this past year and now this past two months got worse where it won't turn back on at all for days on end. I had to take it to a mechanic the second I was lucky enough it decided to start. New starter and new battery did not fix. Mechanic believes computer is bad. It is a security issue. Registering my car as incorrect VIN number to car.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Dodge Journey

The lights on the interior are coming on by them self, I believe the problem lies in the rear wire harnesses. My car only has 31000 miles.

35 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Dodge Journey

The wire harness in hatch where it meets in the boot wires break from using hatch 2010 to 2020 all models and can cause camera wiper brake lights reverse lights plate lights and tail lamps and unlock and lock button not to work on hatch the wires break from normal use on all models and it can cause a spark and start a fire.

Moscow Sky Lights Up With Strange Glow After Explosion at Electrical Substation: Reports

N ew footage has emerged showing bright flashes lighting up the night sky in southern Moscow during the early morning hours of November 22.

Knewz.com has learned that there was an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of Russia's capital city followed by an alleged power outage in "several" homes.

Video snippets, shared on Russian news channels like ASTRA , captured a series of flashes that caused the sky to change color. Smoke could also be seen rising from a building.

Corroborating the video, several Russian Telegram accounts reported an explosion near the south of Moscow and a subsequent fire at the Lyublino electrical substation, southeast of central Moscow, per Newsweek .

The local authorities from the area have since confirmed that an explosion occurred in the village of Molokovo, but they reassured the public that all vital facilities were operating as normal.

Russian outlet MSK1.ru reported the blaze at the substation and noted “several” power outages.

The town of Lytkarino, located to the southeast of Moscow, was one of the affected areas, as reported by the independent outlet, Meduza .

Additional power failures were reported in the southern Domodedovo section of the city. However, electricity was later restored to these areas.

One local resident speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but additional sources are yet to support this theory.

Newsweek reported that messages on the ASTRA Telegram account run by independent Russian journalists showed residents near the substation panicking. One concerned Russian called it a "nightmare."

The incident follows an attack by Russia on a power station in southwestern Ukraine that left 2,000 people without electricity .

Knewz.com reported previously:

“ Russian forces launched a total of 38 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 drones during the later hours of November 17 and 18.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command reported that 29 of these drones were shot down [...].

One civilian was injured as a result of the attack that targeted energy infrastructure in the southwestern Odesa Oblast.”

The assault came after repeated warnings by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky that Russia would try to cripple its power grid as winter approaches.

Ukraine's leader warned that if Russia resorted to attacking its power utilities, it would respond in kind.

Ukraine has conducted numerous long-range aerial drone strikes on Moscow since May 2023.

Most recently on November 20, it was reported that one such incursion was intercepted close to the city, per Kyiv Post .

Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed this and elaborated that the region's air defense systems intercepted the unmanned craft over the city of Elektrostal to the east of Moscow, as well as another over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow.

The details of the recently surfaced video footage have yet to be independently verified.
