The safari started early in the morning and our guide briefed us about the reserve and the safety precautions we needed to take. As we entered the reserve, we were greeted by the beautiful sight of lush green forests and the chirping of birds. The safari was conducted in an open jeep which allowed us to have a clear and unobstructed view of the surroundings. As we drove deeper into the reserve, we were lucky enough to spot various animals such as deer, monkeys, and different species of birds. The highlight of the safari was, of course, the majestic tigers. We were fortunate to spot a few tigers lounging in the shade and it was truly a sight to behold. Our guide informed us that Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is home to over 50 tigers and we were lucky enough to witness a few of them. Apart from tigers, we also saw other big cats like leopards and wild dogs. The reserve is also home to a variety of other animals like sloth bears, elephants, and wild boars. The landscape is breathtaking and it was a surreal experience to see these animals in their natural habitat. One of the most unique experiences of the safari was the visit to the watchtower. The experienced guide provided us with interesting information about the animals and their habitat. The next day, we visited the Dudhwa National Park, which was equally amazing. We were able to spot the one-horned rhinoceros, which was a rare sight. The park also had a wide variety of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers. The third day of the tour took us to the Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary. The boat ride on the Chambal River was a unique experience. We saw many crocodiles, gharials, and dolphins in their natural habitat. It was a thrilling experience to be so close to these wild animals. On the fourth day, we visited the Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary, which is known for its vast population of elephants. This Buddha pilgrimage took me to all the sites I wanted to visit. From Lumbini, Nepal (birthplace), through India ... Kapilavastu (childhood home), Bodhgaya (where enlightened), Rajgir, Sravasti, and Vaishali (lectured/taught), and Kushinagar (place of death). Also enjoyed seeing Hindu ceremonies along the River Ganga. Biggest advantage of this tour is driving in a smaller vehicle with a small group, as opposed to a large bus with larger tour group (slower pace).

I was the only person on this tour and got the same dedicated treatment as if there were a whole group. I was picked up at each stop, and given a guide and driver, then delivered to the next stop. The only hitch was a missed train because I wasn't given the correct time by either the voucher or the driver. But no problem in the end, as I was driven to the next stop instead. All the cities were very interesting and great photo ops, especially Varanasi. The cooking lesson in Jaipur, given by my guide's wife at their apartment, was especially memorable.

Footsteps of Buddha

I am very happy with this tour. All the hotels were comfortable. Having one driver from start to finish was a great gift. Our driver Ramesh was very friendly and had been doing Buddha tour from long time. The itinerary takes you to the key destinations where Buddha lived and gave his sermons in his life. All the places visited are rural parts of India and this trip is a spiritual experience where you get ample time to understand Buddhism. I highly recommend this tour to everyone who has interest to know the Buddhism culture.
