Shania Twain Polishes Off ‘Queen of Me’ Album Announcement With 2023 Tour Dates

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

Shania Twain will release her sixth studio album Queen of M e on Feb. 3, her first full-length record in nearly six years. Alongside her Republic Nashville debut, the country icon will embark on a global arena tour spanning 49 dates, including stops at Nashville’s Geodis Park on June 7 and at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 11.

“This new record is fun and celebrative, really on the other side of Now ,” Twain told Rina Sawayama in a recent Rolling Stone Musicians on Musicians interview . “I’m happy in my own skin. I’m celebrating that feeling, less apologetic for who I am and what I’ve become. This is me, and I like myself.”

She added: “A lot of it was written during the pandemic. There’s nothing better for me than to not have enough to do, because the first thing I do is pick up my guitar and start songwriting. Now I’ve got four albums’ worth. I’m not kidding.”

The Queen of Me Tour marks Twain’s first proper trip on the road since the completion of her Las Vegas residency. The span of shows kicks off on Friday, April 28, at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington. Twain will appear in Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Denver, Los Angeles, Montreal, Kansas City, Dallas, London, Dublin, and more. The tour concludes Sept. 26 at England’s Utilita Arena Birmingham.

Shania Twain

Shania Twain’s Queen of Me Tour rolled into New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (July 11), bringing with it a formidable catalog of country classics as well as a kick-ass opener, Breland, one of the more promising fresh faces in country music.

But Breland – who joined Shania mid-show on “Inhale/Exhale Air” from her 2023 album Queen of Me – wasn’t the only surprise guest. NBC Today anchor Hoda Kotb, who is apparently text message pals with Shania, came out and duetted with the legend on one of her best-loved tunes. Plus, several lucky fans got the chance to share the stage with Twain over the course of the night.

“This really is the time of my life, and I really mean that,” Twain said before her raucous three-song encore. “I’m loving life and I’m loving all these moments. I’m overwhelmed by the welcome.”

She also announced that there’s a 25th anniversary edition of her indispensable 1997 album Come On Over on the way, which will features new mixes as well as live recordings of its songs with guests like Elton John, Chris Martin and Alison Krauss & Union Station. Come On Over – 25th Anniversary Diamond Edition drops Aug. 25 via Mercury/UMe and is available for pre-order now ; Come On Over is the best-selling album from a female artist in the Luminate era (1991-present), giving her three of her seven No. 1s on the Hot Country Songs chart.

From duetting with a broadcast legend to wearing the costume from the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” music video on stage for the first time ever, here are the best moments from Shania Twain’s NYC tour stop.

A Duet With Hoda

It was a surprise moment we never knew we needed. Shania Twain brought out Today show anchor Hoda Kotb (“we text all the time,” she casually mentioned) to help her celebrate a career milestone (more on that later). Kotb, purple mic in hand, was afforded the treat of a lifetime when Twain blended voices with the broadcast legend for a short a cappella duet on her GOAT ballad “You’re Still the One” before doing the full song (sans Kotb).

Double Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend

In addition to the delightful duet, Kotb helped Twain celebrate the fact that Come On Over has sold more than 20 million copies in the U.S. alone with a double diamond platinum plaque. “I am honored to be on this stage in this beautiful Madison Square Garden in the great city of New York to celebrate an incredible moment for this lovely, incredible human being,” Kotb said. Twain, for her part, seemed genuinely touched: “It’s incredible what’s happened with this album and that all of you are still here supporting me.”

Man! I Feel Like Raiding a Museum!

Twain naturally closes out her Queen of Me shows with one of her best-known songs, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, but the July 11 stop in NYC was a little bit different. For the first time ever, she wore her iconic outfit from the music video, designed by Marc Bouwer, during a live performance of the song. “This costume hasn’t seen a stage before, it’s the original,” Twain said, noting the corset has been “in a museum collecting dust,” so she decided to take it out for a spin. (Yes, a quarter of a century later, it still fits perfectly.)

Hyde Your Kids

In addition to bringing several couples onstage as she sang “From This Moment On,” Twain brought up two life-long listeners for a special moment with her. The fans, one from Canada, the other from the U.K., became besties in NYC, bonding over their love for Shania; before long, they both realized they had been to the same Shania show in London’s Hyde Park when they were both eight years old. “It’s lovely that you met through music and you’re here all these years later,” Twain said.

Honey Badgering

Sometimes, you gotta sing for your supper, and Shania put the MSG crowd to work before a spirited take on “Honey, I’m Home.” Dividing the MSG crowd into three sections, Twain asked each one to sing the word “honey” in a different key – and she wasn’t playing around. After an unsatisfactory test run from one side of the arena, she asked another side to perform, which it did admirably. “See? That’s how it’s done,” she jokingly chided the first group of people.

Dance With the One That Brought You

We’d be remiss not to salute her two backup dancers, whose enthusiasm and verve kept the energy up the entire show. The duo’s tap-dancing showdown interlude, which gave Twain a chance to change costumes, was far more impressive and entertaining than the kind of video segments stars typically use to keep the audience occupied when they’re off stage.

Memories to Boot

There were a few reflective moments throughout the course of the night. Twain shared how Dolly Parton’s songwriting influenced her growing up and recalled the inauspicious circumstances under which her first hit on the Billboard country charts was written. Acoustic guitar in hand, she shared how “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” was penned in a quiet cabin with no running water. She then performed a short acoustic take on it, before bringing out the full band (and an alien chasing a horse on the video screen – don’t ask) for the more familiar rocking version, since “it became a sh-t kicker” during the studio sessions.

Shania Twain Says She's Feeling 'Empowered' as She Announces 2023 Album 'Queen of Me' and Tour

"I want to carry a clear message, particularly as a woman, to always remember my power," Twain wrote on Instagram about the album

shania twain qom tour

The queen of country pop is back, y'all!

On Friday morning, Shania Twain announced she'll be releasing her sixth studio album Queen of Me on Feb. 3. In addition, she'll embark on a 49-date world tour!

The Queen of Me tour will kick off on April 28 in Spokane, Washington, and she'll hit major cities across North America and Europe. Kelsea Ballerini , Lindsay Ell , Hailey Whitters , BRELAND , Robyn Ottolini, Priscilla Block and Mickey Guyton will join her onstage on select dates.

"I am unbelievably excited to announce Queen of Me - the new album and tour," the 57-year-old "You're Still the One" singer wrote on Instagram.

"These days, I'm feeling very comfortable in my own skin — and I think this album reflects that musically. Life is short and I want to be uplifted, colorful, unapologetic and empowered. I want to carry a clear message, particularly as a woman, to always remember my power and I hope the songs are a reminder to you, of that same power inside you!"

"I want to celebrate this new chapter with you all on my tour! Vegas has been a dream, but I'm ready to be on the road and sing with you, dance with you and have a kick-ass night out with you!" she continued. "This one's gonna be a big party — no inhibitions, no conditions, let's get a little out of line!!"

She concluded, "I'll be Queen of Me – you be Queen of YOU! 👑"

In September, Twain released her first single in five years called "Waking Up Dreaming" with an '80s-inspired music video.

The song marked the first official single since 2017 from the five-time Grammy Award winner, as well as her first on her new label, Republic Nashville, a division of Republic Records.

"I couldn't think of a better partner than Republic Nashville," Twain said in a statement. "I'm honored and excited to be the label's first artist and lead the charge of this new and exciting chapter. In this respect, it feels like a new beginning all around, and I'm embracing it wholeheartedly."

She later opened up to The Sun about the decision to go topless on the song's cover artwork, which sees Twain wearing a cowboy hat, colorful boots, a white shirt tied around her waist — and seemingly nothing else.

"I styled that photograph myself. It was all about taking off the bra, taking off the shirt, tying the shirt around my waist," the singer-songwriter told the outlet. "This is a statement of being comfortable in my own skin and just being really myself."

The premiere of "Waking Up Dreaming" also came two months after the release of Twain's compilation album Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) , which was accompanied by a career-spanning documentary of the same name .

The film featured the "You're Still the One" singer speaking candidly about both the end of her marriage to her producer, songwriting partner and husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, as well as the health woes she feared might end her career.

Twain also recently wrapped her Let's Go! Las Vegas residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood.

The high-energy set took ticket-holders on a journey through her three-decade-long career and tracks from her recently released album,  Queen of Me . The sold-out crowd catapulted to its feet when they heard the captivating chords of “Waking Up Dreaming” at the start of the show. It wasn’t until the lively chorus that the icon made her grand appearance in an eye-catching ensemble.

While performing on a vibrant stage that features state-of-the-art visuals and a rocket ship initialed “ST,” – she delivered a handful of fan favorites such as “Up!,” “Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You),” “I’m Gonna Getcha Good,” “Any Man Of Mine,” “From This Moment On,” “You’re Still the One,” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

Twain joined forces with creative producers Corey FitzGerald (Adele, Blackprint, Kendrick Lamar), BLINK’s Tom Colbourne, and Rupa Rathod (Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Doja Cat) to create the immersive experience that displays high-end production and striking screen graphics.

According to a press release, the singer/songwriter shared a mashup of tracks that she “hasn’t performed in decades.” The medley included, “Nah!,” “She’s Not Just A Pretty Face,” and “Waiter! Bring Me Water!,” “When,” “Thank You Baby!” and “Party For Two.”

Breakout star Lindsay Ell served as direct support and is slated to open at a handful of upcoming dates. Twain has provided other Nashville newcomers and promising acts the opportunity to join in on the fun. Hailey Whitters, BRELAND, Kelsea Ballerini, Robyn Ottolini, Priscilla Block, and Mickey Guyton will appear throughout the first run.

The show marks Twain’s first tour in nearly five years and follows her critically acclaimed residency in Sin City. MORE ABOUT SHANIA TWAIN

Last month, she made a grand return with her latest single “Waking Up Dreaming . ” Right out of the gate, Vulture hailed it as “a motivational, synth-laden pop-rocker with few of the country touches you’d expect from Twain , all of the glamour . ” Rolling Stone raved, “It gradually builds to a Shania-worthy maximalist sound, a dance party of gleaming guitars and unfettered bliss . ” People affirmed, “Shania Twain is baring it all with her new era of music , ” and The Tennessean proclaimed, “Country icon Shania Twain ’s season in the sun continues with the release of ‘Waking Up Dreaming’ . ” Perhaps The TODAY Show summed it up best as “an absolute bop . ”

“Waking Up Dreaming” marked her first release in five years since 2017’s critically acclaimed, Now , which bowed at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Top Country Albums Chart upon arrival. It also arrives on the heels of her blockbuster career-spanning documentary Not Just A Girl —streaming on Netflix now. It was notably produced by Mercury Studios and directed by Joss Crowley . To accompany the film, she also presented the compilation album Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) available HERE .  And in other news this once-in-a-generation Renaissance Woman joins the star-studded cast of Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration in the role of Mrs. Potts, premiering on ABC December 15 and streaming on Disney+ as of December 16.

The sixth studio album by Shania, Queen of Me is the second to be released by the icon since her full-time return to releasing music in 2017 with Now.

Earlier this year, Shania kickstarted her 2023 by securing her third overall UK Number 1 album with Queen of Me, joining her tally alongside 1998's blockbuster classic Come On Over and the aforementioned Now.

Shania has been busy touring all over the US, so as her UK leg kicks off in Glasgow, we're here to bring you the setlist in full while you're busy glitzing up your cowboy hats.

Shania Twain: The Queen of Me Tour

November 2, 2023 – CHI Health Center – Omaha, NE

Shania Twain is one of the best-selling music artists of all time and the best-selling female artist in country music history. On Thursday night November 2, 2023, the multi Grammy award-winning icon brought her Queen of Me Tour to the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and it was fantastic! Twain has long been hailed as the Queen of Country Pop, and her Queen of Me Tour is a testament to her enduring reign over the music industry. With a career spanning decades, Shania has maintained her charisma, vocal prowess, and stage presence, making her latest tour a celebration of her remarkable journey through music. As of this writing, she has over 14.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and she’s not slowing down anytime soon! The show was a spectacular showcase of Shania Twain’s iconic hits, combined with a fresh and contemporary twist that resonated with fans old and new. From the moment the lights dimmed and the stage came alive, it was evident that the audience was in for a night they would never forget.

Shania’s undeniable star power shone brightly as she kicked off the show in the crowd with “Waking Up Dreaming.” The crowd erupted with excitement, and it was clear that the energy in the arena was electric. Throughout her set, Shania demonstrated her powerful vocal range, effortlessly hitting high notes and delivering her signature sultry vocals with precision. One of the standout elements of the show was the production value. The stage design was nothing short of dazzling, featuring a massive LED screen that transformed to match the mood and theme of each song. This backdrop, along with impressive lighting and pyrotechnics, created a visual spectacle that complemented the music perfectly. Twain also took the time to interact with the audience, sharing anecdotes from her life and career that resonated with fans. Her down-to-earth personality and infectious charm made the show feel intimate and genuine, even in a large arena setting. She even brought fans onstage at different points throughout the night! The Queen of Me Tour’s setlist was a well-balanced mix of Shania’s greatest hits, from “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” to “You’re Still the One.” The inclusion of new tracks from her most recent album, “Queen of Me,” brought a fresh and contemporary vibe to the concert, showcasing her ability to stay current while paying homage to her roots. In true Shania Twain fashion, the show closed with a jaw-dropping encore performance of “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” The entire arena was on its feet, dancing and singing along with unbridled enthusiasm.

The 2023 Queen of Me Tour was a celebration of Shania Twain’s incredible career, a testament to her enduring talent, and a reminder of why she is truly the Queen of Country Pop. From the electrifying atmosphere to the mesmerizing production and Shania’s captivating stage presence, this tour was an unforgettable experience for her fans. Multi Grammy-winner Shania Twain is currently travelling the world with her Queen of Me tour. Having finished up in the U.S., Twain is currently over in the UK and Ireland before wrapping up in Canada later this fall. This marks Twain’s first tour in nearly five years and follows the release of her album of the same name—her first record since 2017 and the debut of her new label partner, Republic Nashville. From residency to tour to the album, there is no doubt that Twain’s Queen of Me reign has been successfully. PLSN caught up with Lighting Designer André Petrus to talk about the lighting design for this tour and how it supports Twain’s music and performances. Petrus, who again collaborated on this tour design with Production Designer Cory FitzGerald, has been working with Twain since 2015 programming for her tours and lighting Twain’s Las Vegas residency show.

“The show is themed around Shania’s new album, which also features a handful of her classic hits,” says Petrus. “The song, “Waking Up Dreaming” is the opener and best describes the theme of the show. It’s a journey through space on a rocket ship which crashes into Twain Town. The show is packed with 3D animations, including an LED floor that really gives every seat a good perspective. Shania creative directs her own shows and wanted the set to be made up of LED so it can consistently morph into different scenes. She wanted to feel immersed in the content, so we carry an LED floor and LED I-Mag screens; the entire show feels totally enveloping.”

From a production aspect, Petrus describes the tour as “a straightforward pop show. It’s designed to also be a bit flexible because they go from arenas, to amphitheaters, and they’ve also done a stadium on this tour. So, if anything, from a production aspect it’s scalable. I think that’s the biggest thing to take away from the design is the fact that it’s scalable and you can get it into multiple different places without sacrificing a lot of the big looks.” For instance, when the tour hit the Nashville stadium, Geodis Park, home of Nashville Soccer Club, instead of the 270° wrap-around arena approach, the stadium show was mounted on a K2 roof structure with side wings. “We had more LED in the arena show because it’s actually in the round,” explains Petrus, “whereas for the stadium show it was more of a traditional stage set-up. We expanded the lighting on the wings to make the show wider, added more audience lighting, and added some keylight towers behind FOH.”

FitzGerald, Partner and Creative Director at Silent House in Burbank, was Creative Producer/Production Designer for this tour, conceiving the overall production design and devising the screen configuration and truss layout. The placement of screens included a main upstage screen, large LED facia, LED floor, and a header that borders stage right and left and the downstage. Once the screens were confirmed then it was time to fit in the lighting with a giant box truss that runs upstage to downstage and a downstage truss that floats over the header. “Cory did the production design, and then he handed me the canvas,” says Petrus, who first worked with FitzGerald on Twain’s residency in Las Vegas back in 2019. As to merging his lighting design in with FitzGerald’s production design, he notes, “Cory is awesome to work with and is super chill. The thing I love about Cory is he just lets me be creative and do my thing. This is the second big project we worked on together, and both were great. He answers all the logistical questions when it comes to something on the stage or something technical speaking about it with Shania. Overall though, he just hands me the canvas, saying ‘there you go. I’ll let you know if anything pops up’. Cory has had a lot of experience doing stadium and arena shows on this level. That’s his wheelhouse and it is great that he shares that experience but trust me to run with things.”

Once they got into rehearsals Petrus worked closely with Twain on the lighting and also ended up programming all the video as well. Petrus didn’t really mean to take on so much in the beginning. When the Twain camp reached out to him, the plan was to make a touring version of the Las Vegas residency production. That plan would quickly go out the window and a completely new show was created during the rehearsal process. “It was new everything,” states Petrus. “She was extremely hands-on and brought a lot of ideas to the show during rehearsals, we sat together creating things. As I handled her lighting and visuals, we talked a lot about color temperature, we talk about intensity, we talk about everything. She sat next to me for six days straight. And quite honestly, she spent just as much time on site as I did. I’d come in at 10 a.m. and guess what? She was already there. And then she’d stay up and sit next to me until 2:30 in the morning working on something. Of course, I’d stay after a little bit to clean up some things, but when I came in the next day she was there. And she had to perform.

As noted, the production design is heavy in video so Petrus had to work the lighting in around it. “Shania really likes a digital content feel, so she wanted to be immersed in the content,” explains Petrus. “We also chose to carry LED I-Mag screens, so the I-Mag was an extension of the stage design and concept. That was the main feeling. Then we sprinkled in lighting where we could; we have a lot of overhead lights that go right over the performance area with seven fingers of truss that are packed full of lights. Then surrounding the upstage wall, there’s ladders that encompass the whole design and just frame it out. She performs a lot of her songs on the LED floor, so she is literally immersed in the content completely. Around that LED floor, we have floor lights as well that just line everything, box things in.”

shania twain qom tour

Petrus has been lighting Shania since 2015 and has a great handle on what works well to support her music and the vision she sees for the show. “For Shania’s shows, every song always needs to feel big, in my opinion,” Petrus says. “Her music is big. When you hear it, it rocks. It’s full on, so all the looks just need to be impactful. For me everything needs to look good, but if I take a picture at any point, it needs to look full. It needs to look big, but also, it’s about the musicality. I am really into the music, so I follow the music when it comes to the looks and the feel. If the songs are different, then it’s going to look different—whether it’s the colors, the feel of the music, and the mood, but really, I let the musicality drive what it’s going to be.”

As a designer, Petrus likes to pick fewer fixture types but then have a lot of that type of fixture. “So, if I have one type of fixture, I’ll have 100 of those lights, and all those 100 lights are probably going to be doing that same type of thing. I don’t like to break up the rig. That’s how I get a lot of the big looks. Instead of having 10 or 15 different fixture types, I’d rather have four or five, but have a lot of each of those fixture types, each one of those fixture types usually is accenting something within that song. When you do that, it just gets you great big looks, but every song feels different because you’re following the music.”

 Key Equipment Choices

For Petrus, a lot of the equipment choices came down to availability. He worked with Josh Wagner, the Upstaging Project Manager, the lighting vendor for the tour, to source his rig. “As you know, everything comes down to budgets and what the vendors have and what they can do for the right price,” says Petrus. “Upstaging is always great when it comes to lighting. I’ve done a handful of shows with them, and they’ve always been great with their support and their crews.” For this tour, Petrus explains, “We ended up getting a bunch of the ACME Lyras, which was a swap from another fixture that we had we wanted, but the Lyras worked out well. We had over 100 of those, the majority of them being over the stage and performance areas. Then we also had two ladders on either side with them. We also had Ayrton Dominos on the downstage truss, and that was really to box in and really help give the entire picture a frame. This truss sat above our LED video header to do a bunch of aerial looks above the screen. We also had another six Dominos on the floor as shin kickers. We really needed something that had a lot of punch, and those Domino fixtures definitely did that. They are by far the brightest hard edge we carry, and the optics are phenomenal. With such an LED video intensive show, we chose the Dominos for its ability to cut through the presence of so many screens.”

Another key gear choice was a range of GLP products in the rig. “We had a lot of the JDC Line fixtures—500s and 1000s, and those are great,” comments Petrus, “as we really got a lot of good looks out of those. With the the pixel control that you have over those GLP fixtures you can really get almost endless looks, to be honest. The JDC Lines are some of my favorite fixtures, high quality and bright. It’s just such a versatile fixture. We have the JDC Line 500s outlining the ladders on either side of the upstage video wall and the JDC Line 1000s underneath the LED wall. Again, since the show is so video driven, the lighting as I said is designed to accent, outline, and box in a lot of the video.”

For some shows, like the stadium show in Nashville, Petrus added GLP FR10 Bars to line the central LED stage performance floor and entire outside of the stage. This brought attention to the performance area. “We really needed a linear fixture that was bright as we need something that can really punch through the video. Between the JDC Lines and FR10s, that really did the job for us. I had been using the X4 Bar 20s and replaced those with 60 of the more powerful FR10 Bars.” The impression FR10 Bar gives him a big step up in power. “I would say it’s four times as bright [as the X4 Bar 20] but is easily twice the size. Also, the FR10 Bar gives you the individual zoom which is great and a whole other dynamic to the light. For instance, you can get cool effects, carving through the atmosphere haze, to get a completely different feel.”

Petrus programmed his own show on a grandMA3, opting as always for a high Multipix mode with the GLP units to give him full individual pixel control. “I create a lot of custom dimming curve presets, to give each light individuality.” The JDC1s were scattered in the overhead—distributed on fingers from upstage to downstage, five on each stick of truss—and this helped create the roof. “The cool thing about this design is that the show looks completely different depending on where you’re sitting,” he says. “As a programmer, what you get out of the entire JDC series is the smooth dimming curves, while the color shifting is minimal, and it reacts exactly to what you tell it to do.” Having programmed the show, Petrus passed over the reins to Pete Smith to direct the show on the road.

Since Petrus also had control of the video for the Queen of Me tour, he programmed it in with his lighting. Tying in video control with lighting made the most sense for this show. They used the 5mm LED product, ROE Visual CB5 in an air frame, with the floor comprised of 3.9mm product from Yes Tech. The content was fed from disguise servers, with all supplied by the video vendor for the tour Fuse Technical Group. The video content was overseen by FitzGerald working with Twain and her team, then created by Burbank, CA-based BLINK Inc. “We used disguise servers to push everything and that 5mm LED screen looks great,” says Petrus, “and we used Brompton [Technology] processors so we were able to control all the brightness directly from the console. This kept all the colors true as we changed levels. We weren’t making any adjustments on the layers in the server, but in the processors, which was really nice. Adam Fontana from Dark Matter [Technologies] helped with programming the servers. I always like working with Dark Matter; they were very helpful getting the video spec’ed out and the servers up and running. If I needed anything, they were literally right there fixing things as I needed them.” Petrus also enjoyed working with Fuse, which he described as “great. Anything I need, they got it to me. That’s also what’s awesome about using a company that can provide anything, is you ask for it and it’s there. They also supplied a great crew for this tour.”

Petrus continues to enjoy his collaboration with Shania Twain and her team, but notes that, “I after this tour, I have even more respect for Shania. It is amazing just how much she puts into it, how much she cares. She’s one of the hardest workers I know. She was there in rehearsal with us early in the morning right through into the early hours of the next morning, and we rehearsed every single number. She came out and watched every single number. She’s very hands-on and really hard working. I have a lot of respect for her and for the attention she gives to every aspect, from the choreography to the lighting design to the video. And the tour itself is no joke, the routing is a show every other day for months. She’s out there really working. It is great to work with her and to be part of her show.”

VENDOR VIEW

Josh Wagner

“We love making Cory’s [FitzGerald] designs come to life. It’s always fun discussing his ideas and the ways to make them happen. André [Petrus] knows exactly how he wants to use the design and shares his goals with us to make sure we provide them with what they need. Both Cory and André are a real pleasure to work with.

It’s always a great experience working with PM Denny Rich. He comes to the table with a lot of ideas about how to make the show work logistically. He’s really easy to communicate with, which is key to achieving the best results. The rest of his camp are equally knowledgeable and easy to work with. All around this was a great tour to work on.”

As to why Upstaging was the right vendor for this tour: “I think our previous history with Shania Twain, Cory, Denny [Rich], and Joel [Eriksson] gives us good insight into their expectations. Knowing what they wanted made it easy to provide the service they needed. This tour uses a lot of gear in a tight space. We were able to come up with ideas that enabled all departments to work together and build the show with minimal day to day headaches.”

  FUSE TECHNICAL GROUP

Patrick Eaton

“They’re [Cory FitzGerald and André Petrus] a pair of some of the best to work with in this industry. They pose thoughtful questions and challenges for us to sort through as a team. Their collaborative work style meant that any time that something needed to be addressed, it was done in a consistent and thoughtful manner that always had the artist’s best interest in mind.

One of the most innovative things this year was that this was our first [disguise media server] GX3 tour that we’ve deployed, and the first tour we implemented the 12G SFP’s with their IP VFC Cards.  This allowed us to natively route 12G signals to LED processors, dramatically reducing the need for format conversion infrastructure.”

As to why Fuse Technical Group was the right vendor for this tour: “ We strive to work as a team and collaborate amongst the different departments to ensure a successful launch of any show we do. Whether it’s our LED department, our media server department, or a camera system department, we all work together to come up with unified solutions. Given our national footprint, along with international partnerships, we’re positioned to support a client just about anywhere they go. Anyone can have gear, but we’ve got the people that make sure that things run smoothly.”

Review: Shania Twain Ends QUEEN OF ME Tour in Vancouver!

After many tour stops in both North America and Europe, Shania’s latest concert tour concluded at Rogers Arena last week.

From “That Don’t Impress Me Much” to “Any Man of Mine” and “Man, I Feel Like a Woman,” country music fan or not, it’s nearly impossible to not know at least one song in Shania Twain ’s discography. Ever since her debut studio album released in 1993 entitled, “ Shania Twain ,” she has dominated the country music scene hit after hit. Eventually releasing 6 successful studio albums to date with over 100 million records sold worldwide and 5 Grammy Awards under her belt, Shania has had an incredible career so far. As a Canadian cultural icon with immense music chart-topping success, Shania continues to attract audiences wherever she goes with both her greatest hits and new music.

Beginning in April of this year, Shania Twain began her 5th headlining concert tour. Named the “Queen of Me” tour after her most recent 6th studio album of the same name, this was Shania’s return to the stage after nearly five years. The tour began in Spokane on April 28th with shows in both North America and Europe including 2 stops in Vancouver back in May. After adding more dates due to high demand, Shania ultimately decided to add a 2nd leg to the tour which started in October and ended last week at Rogers Arena.

Canadian country music singer Tenille Townes opened for Shania during this leg of the tour. Hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Townes attended Shania’s Up! Tour when she was 9 years old and was given an opportunity to sing with her on stage. Several years later, now as a rising country music star, Townes and Twain united again, proving that dreams really do come true. To open the show, Townes performed several of her hit songs such as “Somebody’s Daughter” and included a cover of “Come Together” by The Beatles. Later on, after Shania hit the stage, Townes returned to sing the hit duet, “Party For Two” with her.

While the tour was intended to support her latest “Queen of Me” studio album, the concerts were also an overall celebration of the music, artistry, stories, and talent of Shania’s entire career. Playing only 3 songs from her new album including, “Waking Up Dreaming,” “Giddy Up!” and “Pretty Liar,” the show had a heavy emphasis on her greatest hits. With songs such as “Up!” “Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You),” “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” and “Honey, I’m Home,” pumping up the crowd, no one seemed too disappointed that a verse from the song behind the tour name, “Queen of Me,” was only sung briefly (and acoustically) by Shania for a short moment.

Review: Shania Twain Ends QUEEN OF ME Tour in Vancouver!

The show began with a performance of, “Waking Up Dreaming,” from her newest album. Despite starting the show a little later than usual, the excitement level was still high amongst the audience and escalated even more when Shania appeared within the audience on the floor level to start the show. Giving attendees an up close and personal performance was an experience of a lifetime for fans that were lucky enough to be within a few feet of her.

Review: Shania Twain Ends QUEEN OF ME Tour in Vancouver!

The staging of the show was simple. There were no pull out walkways or secondary stages, just one stage with two levels accompanied by large screens for added projection and effects. This was definitely simpler than previous tours; however, it emphasized Shania’s ability to put on a good show without all the flashy gimmicks and excessive special effects. Her live band and two male back-up dancers were the perfect touch, giving her the right amount of support to let her shine. Although Shania did not change outfits during the show, fans didn’t seem to mind. She spent most of her time focusing on the music and fan experience.

Review: Shania Twain Ends QUEEN OF ME Tour in Vancouver!

For her last show, Shania gave an overall solid vocal performance. Having been through a lot with her voice in the past, it was understandable that it has changed over the years. Some songs such as “Any Man of Mine” were taken down an octave to allow Shania to comfortably hit the required notes, which was fine and still got the crowd singing and dancing along. Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the show was when she sang, “Still The One.” Both acoustically and with musical accompaniment, Shania proved that she still had that spark and distinctive voice that people fell in love with many years ago when she sang this song for the first time.

Review: Shania Twain Ends QUEEN OF ME Tour in Vancouver!

Throughout the show, Shania brought a few lucky fans onto the stage for a few surprises. The first being a mother and daughter hailing from White Rock, BC. Shania brought out the original iconic leopard outfit from her “That Don’t Impress Me Much” music video and let both of them try it on. Later in the show, a fan that had seen Shania 13 times (and counting) was given the opportunity to sing with her on stage. No matter what, it was evident that Shania genuinely cared about her fans and wanted to give back to them for supporting her and her career after all the years of being in the spotlight.

Review: Shania Twain Ends QUEEN OF ME Tour in Vancouver!

Shania Twain ’s Queen of Me tour was an unforgettable experience. Her infectious energy, electrifying stage presence, and love for her fans has not faded, but grown with time. Traveling through the journey of her career, hit after hit, was a musical celebration that hit home for both longtime and newcomer fans. Canada will always love Shania Twain … forever and for always.

Shania Twain concluded her Queen of Me Tour in Vancouver, BC on November 14th, 2023 at Rogers Arena. Her Las Vegas Residency at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood entitled “Come on Over: The Las Vegas Residency - All The Hits!” will commence in May of 2024. The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” star is the latest addition to the lineup of the summer shows held at Hyde Park in London, along with her special guests, Irish pop band The Corrs . Twain, 58, will headline on Sunday 7 July.

“I’ve seen so many of my own musical heroes headlining at Hyde Park and have wonderful summer memories there,” the Grammy-winner said in a statement. “It is a real privilege to headline my own show this year. It’s going to be a s***-kicking party!”

How to get tickets

The Amex Presale begins at 10am GMT on Friday 9 February.

General tickets for the performance go on sale at 10am GMT on Wednesday 14 February.

Who else is performing at British Summer Time 2024?

She joins previously announced BST headliners Andrea Bocelli (5 July), Robbie Williams (6 July) and K-pop stars Stray Kids (14 July). More lineup additions will be announced in the coming weeks.

Twain became one of the biggest country stars of all time when she released her second album, The Woman in Me , in 1995. Produced by her then-husband Mutt Lange, it was followed by her record-breaking 1997 record Come On Over , which featured hit songs including “You’re Still the One” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much”.

After a 15-year hiatus following her fourth album, Up! , due to health issues caused by Lyme Disease, Twain returned with her comeback album Now . She has since embarked on a series of live shows, including a Las Vegas residency, and released her latest No 1 album, Queen of Me , last year.

Meanwhile, sibling quartet The Corrs’ blend of slick pop with Celtic folk saw them become one of the most successful bands of the Nineties and early Noughties, selling millions of records including hits such as “Breathless”, “Only When I Sleep”, and their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”.

Earlier this month, eight-piece South Korean pop group Stray Kids , who achieved a UK top 40 album with their latest record 5-Star, were announced for an exclusive UK performance on 14 July.

“To all our UK STAYs – we cannot wait to see you at BST Hyde Park !” the group said in a statement. “This is our first time performing at a UK festival and it is such an honour to play in Hyde Park where so many legends have played before us. Come dance with us!”

This bold revelation came on the heels of Shania's appearance at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year event, honoring rock legend Jon Bon Jovi.

Green boots and a large olive belt completed her eye-catching outfit. During the event, she paid homage to Bon Jovi with a cover of Bed of Roses, although her performance received mixed reviews from critics.

She bravely opened up about undergoing open-throat surgery to save her voice, a procedure that left her uncertain about her future in music. "I didn’t know if I’d ever sing again. I thought my career was over," she shared with The U.S. Sun.

Additionally, she battled a life-threatening case of COVID pneumonia during the pandemic, further testing her strength and perseverance.
