barcelona bus tour reddit

It seems both ticket price is same but am unable to find the difference.

Please help me i will be purchansing online ticket as am travelling tommorw to barcelona.

' class=

I know Bus Turístic has loads of good discounts on various sights and some restaurant chains, and I guess Barcelona City Tour has some offers as well, but I can't find a list on their website, so I don't know which sights etc. they can offer discounts on or how good the offers are.

Personally, I always choose Bus Turístic, but that's mainly because it's what I'm used to - and I like that I can go to their website to find a list of their discounts so I can plan accordingly. I think you'll end up having a real good time regardless of which company you end up choosing! :)

Good analysis! One more point: the 3rd route is to the waterfront area and I believe it only runs in the warm weather months. More info in the Top Question.

Thank you for your response.

How about the Transport Pass? it 12.60 euro for 2 days. Is that now worth? i will be in barcelona for two days.

Hi Shobha, you have some misunderstanding here...

Something else is the passes/travelcards in offer to use in the public transportation network in the city (regular buses, metro & trams). For that you have: the multi-day travel cards -branded as "HolaBCN!" cards- valid for 2,3,4 and 5 days which allow you unlimited travel in the network (with some exceptions though!); the "BARCELONA CARD" which is like the previous but includes discounts on certain museums, restaurants, etc. and finally the regular travel cards -also known as "integrated travelcards"- such as T-10 or T-30 -which are the ones most widely used both by locals and tourists alike- which offer a certain amount of journeys (ie T-10 = 10 journeys) for a cheap price. These cards expire on the 28/feb the following year and can be used by more than one passenger at the same time.

The reason the later are the most popular is because of the 75' rule applicable in the public transportation network in Barcelona: when using a travel card (ie. T-10), you pay for the first journey but if you switch to another bus line or to a different means of transportation (ie metro) within 75 minutes, you still have to swipe the travel card into the machines but no further journey is used up so in practice is like if you were travelling for free on the second journey. This allows to move from one end of the city to the other very cheaply.

For info on HolaBCN! and Barcelona Card: http://www.tmb.cat/en/bitllets-turistics

For info on integrated travelcards: http://www.tmb.cat/en/abonaments-integrats

You mention a 'transport pass' (??) that's 12,60€ for two days but I can't identify to what could you possibly be referring, sorry.

IMHO a cab and the subway to a few key attractions is a better deal if time is short and you actually want to get close to things versus seing from a bus.

auburngirlie

I had the same question! Found on another thread where most people were recommending the red line. Would love to hear what others think....

30,000+ Club

I prefer (as I have written on these boards) the red bus Barcelona City Tours...it is privately owned and is much less crowded..You won't be sorry as this gives you a great overview of Barcelona...We spent an entire day HO & HO...:D

Guttedsnowbird

I have read some threads on the HoHo but but still don't understand a couple of practical matters:

1. How does one get from the port to these buses? We will only be in town the day the ship is there

2. How and where does one buy a ticket? I have read that online sales are to be avoided?

I took the Bus Turistic (which is the most popular and has actually 3 lines: blue and red are the main routes and the green one is a shorter version). All important sights are included in the routes and you can easily take the busses every 5-15min.

Here you can find a little comparison of the HOHO buses in Barcelona and you can also book it online (why this should be avoided?) I personally had no issues, I printed my voucher and everything was fine

I was very disappointed with the red Barcelona city bus. You had to take the port bus to get outside the port where you can pick up either bus. We went with the Barcelona City Bus as most people said there were less people on it which may be true. The problem to get to the sites we wanted to see it took over an hour to transfer to the other line and then another hour to get to the cathedral. I felt I spent too much time on a bus and not enjoying the city. I agree with using cabs and public transportation if there are a couple of must see sights. Barcelona was our big disappointment.

mskaufman

When we were there we used the Bus Turistic. I have read the pluses and minuses of both on this board. I can tell you that we were happy with the bus and the service and believe that we were able to get to more places than if we used metro and a cab. There are places that we got off for 15 minutes to walk around that we would have never taken a cab to.

In selecting which bus to use my recommendation would be to prioritize the list of places you want to stop and see which bus gets you to those places more efficiently. Then, you can take your time and go to the places that are secondary on your list. We chose Bus Turistic because La Sagrada and Parc Guell were early stops from our starting point at Placa Catalunya. After Parc Guell we go to rest on the bus on the way to Montjuic.

Did you know we are members of  Gray Line Spain ? Gray Line is the main network of agencies and tour operators specializing in visits around the world. With this license, we guarantee the quality of an excellent service.

What’s more, we are a company concerned about the environment. That is why we were the  first Spanish firm to include a 100% electric bus . This was later joined by the hybrid buses that began to roll in 2017. The Catalan government endorsed us with the environment guarantee badge.

Our vehicles guarantee that you travel in comfort. The double-decker buses have a heated lower deck and open-top. USB slots to connect your charger, free Wi-Fi and wheelchair accessible ramps.
