Neil Young Announces First Tour Since 2019

By Evan Minsker

Neil Young

Neil Young has announced a tour—his first since 2019 . Earlier this week, Young told paid subscribers of Neil Young Archives that the solo acoustic shows will feature songs that he’s never performed live before. Check out the tour dates, featuring special guest Chris Pierce, below.

“I don’t want to come back and do the same songs again,” Young said (according to Rolling Stone ). “I’ll feel like I was on some sort of carnival ride. I’d rather be doing these others songs I haven’t done…. I won’t have to compare how I’m doing ‘Heart of Gold’ to [how I played it in] 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020.”

Among the songs Young mentioned as part of the new setlist are the Pearl Jam collaboration “Song X” from 1995’s Mirror Ball , “Prime of Life” from 1994’s Sleeps With Angels , and the Trans outtake “If You Got Love.”

Young began performing at one-off appearances earlier this year, including a rally for old-growth trees and at a Willie Nelson tribute show. In 2021 and 2022 , he pulled out of Farm Aid due to concerns over the pandemic . “I am not ready for that yet. I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic,” he wrote, adding, “I miss it very much.”

In March, Young wrote a post critical of Ticketmaster and the contemporary touring industry. “It’s over. The old days are gone,” the musician wrote. “I get letters blaming me for $3,000.00 tickets for a benefit I am doing. That money does not go to me or the benefit. Artists have to worry about ripped off fans blaming them for Ticketmaster add-ons and scalpers. Concert tours are no longer fun. Concert tours not what they were.”

Young’s criticism of Ticketmaster followed his recent boycott of Spotify and his apparent subtweet of Beck’s NFL-sponsored (and Grammy-nominated ) cover of “ Old Man .”

Neil is going on tour! Can you believe it? No, of course not, neither can we. But can you dig it? The 2023 Neil Young Coastal Tour, with special guest Chris Pierce , pulls away from the station in July, and ticket presales for NYA Subscribers begin this coming Monday, June 12th! Local presales begin the following day, and general onsale is June 14th. Keep reading below the fold for more specifics on those presales but first, the information you’ve all been waiting for:   With that out of the way, let’s talk about presales. For most venues we will be having presales exactly like we have in the past : annual subscribers at any tier will be able to get a unique code and a deeplink to the presale using the NYA Tickets page . Your unique code will allow you to buy four tickets to a show — the new wrinkle is that those tickets can only be resold at face value in order to limit scalping. It’s our first chance to try this tech, but we’re optimistic about the balance it strikes between non-transferrable tickets and laissez-faire scalper-bot profiteering. *The Santa Barbara Bowl will have a unique-code presale, but those tickets will be non-transferrable. **The Ford won’t have unique codes and will instead have its own presale with venue-specific rules about ticket transfers & resales. Subscribers will need to register an LA Phil account using their NYA email address by midnight Pacific this Saturday, June 10 . The Ford will check those registrants against a list of NYA Subscribers ( make sure you use your NYA account email address!!! ) to determine who will have access to Monday’s presale on their website. You will be able to buy four tickets across all dates at The Ford — this is a slight variation on our usual four-per-show policy to allow as many subscribers to get seats as possible. After following this URL you will be led through account creation and pre-sale pre-registration forms. The venue will notify you on the morning of the presale if you’ve passed their verification and will give you further instructions about participating in the presale. If for some reason you haven’t passed, write to us and we’ll try to sort it out. None of these hoops are meant to keep NYA subscribers out of seats (quite the opposite, in fact!), but this isn’t our first rodeo and we know no system is perfect. Nota bene: Getting access to these presales does not guarantee a ticket, and if you’re familiar with these venues you may have noticed that most of them are small . Not, you know, Catalyst-small, but small enough that you’re gonna want to be on your toes come Monday. See you out there. love, NYA

What great news! It will be wonderful to see him play live again. Did he say acoustic? Or is it possibly electric?! I can’t wait! Your brother Alan in Seattle

Please come back to Newfoundland, Neil! You can't get more "coastal" than that LOL!

I watched the zoom call yesterday, (my wife recorded it for me) and he said he plans to play songs he’s never (or rarely) played live in front of an audience. He also mentioned that he would use his pump organ as well as ‘Old Hank’ on this tour. We’re looking at Bend, as it’s the closest he gets to Boise. It all depends on how expensive the tickets go for, and being a Monday night I’ll need to take two days off work. Hopefully the stars will line up for us, but only time will tell. Peace 🙏

Be very careful buying tickets because some outlets are already selling them this weekend and I doubt those will work at the show. Example with seats going for between $178 and $1737 that I would think aren't legit since pre-sale hasn't happened yet: https://www.ticketcity.com/los-angeles-tickets/greek-theatre-la-tickets/neil-young-jul-13-2023-4457304.html#

Looks like I might be taking a solo tour of my own! I’ve seen Neil with the Horse, but not solo yet. Weighing the options for which venue would be best to visit from Texas. I’d really like to do this without a car, so I think I’m crossing Bend off the list. The shows outside Seattle, Portland, and SF are all still on the table. Of those, White River Amphitheater looks most rail & transit friendly. Any pointers?

^^^ The Greek on UC Berkeley campus is an amazing outdoor venue AND accessibility via public transit. Fly to OAK and take BART to downtown Berkeley. The stops in WA are in big Sheds if that is your preferred type of gig. I live in Seattle, and plan to attend in Bend but need car for that. Good luck.

hd, good call on Berkeley, will look into that!

If it weren't so sad environmentally this exchange above would be hilarious to Europeans. Tomatron says he wants to do this trip to the West Coast without a car and mentions "rail & transit friendly". Hippiedream's suggestion is to fly into Oakland (presumably from Dallas?) which makes for 2400 kilometres one way, then to take environmentally friendly Bay Area Rapid Transit (10 - 40 kilometres?). Of course I know that the US is a large country and a train connection, if there is any at all, would take two days of travel one way. If Neil Young was to play Casablanca (Morocco), which is equally distant from my place I would not go there and rather wait for the eastern leg of the tour.

All of this to see a concert by a guy who on his website publicly concedes and almost apologizes for having taken his wife to town in a fossil fuel car?

Thrasher, Someone call Neil about the use of Platinum tickets. NO!!! He and/or his people helping put the tour and shows together need to contact TM and cancel using that process. His $150 (guessing) top tickets will be at $400-$1000 by one hour into the sale. Peace, Randy M

True, the West Coast is a long way to travel from Austin for a concert, but hey, nowhere is close to central Texas. I’m afraid of waiting for a leg of the tour to reach us. We assume the tour will continue past these dates, but you never know. Maybe by the time he gets here, the band will be in tow. And with the crazy schoolteacher schedule, I have to take advantage of summer break. As far as the transportation question, I honestly just don’t want to deal with the hassle of having a car for a couple of days. Concert parking can be a real nightmare, and if I’d decided to go with the Bend trip, that would be a 3 hour drive straight from the airport. No thanks! I’d rather take a train or bus to the venue, and the Greek Theater looks like an amazing location.

July 4 out? NYA updated to June 30, not July 2, and Ford updated to 6/30, 7/1, 7/3 & 7/5 no July 4th show?? What's up with that?

Don't count on more shows. Nothing is guaranteed. Poor Dan has to drive over a martian landscape of east Oregon. Not everyone has survived that. Dan stay in touch. Have you seen The Hills Have Eyes ?

@GDTRFB71, I see 6/30 added and 7/2 dropped, but 7/4 is still on the itinerary.

@tomatron, I didn't want to be a killjoy but still feel the need to add some perspective to these issues every once in a while. Back in the days of dash and daring (before I was limited to the crazy school teacher schedule myself) I crossed Texas from east to west by Greyhound bus and by Wichita Falls I already had enough of that. So to somehow add to the pleasure I suggest a stop in El Cerrito near Oakland at Arhoolie Records' No Mouse Music store, lots of music for the East Texan music aficionado. (probably BART accessible) The founder of Arhoolie, Chris Strachwitz, of German origin, just recently died at very old age. I wonder what will become of that store.

Dionys, I heard that. Took the Greyhound one time. That one time was plenty! I’ll check out Arhoolie if I do make it out to the Bay Area. Always gotta hit up the local record shops.

...and now 7/4 is indeed off the itinerary, but 7/3 has been added.

@ Tomatron & ALL: White River Amp in Auburn WA is said to have large delays after the shows. You can buy expedited parking but it’s a questionable benefit. If you arrive early and park near exit, that is best bet. Public Transportation? Not sure if that will work. The venue is on a the Muckleshoot Indian reservation. The stars have aligned and my wife has agreed to hit Bend with me! Look out at the river, we will be there on floatees enjoying the show from the river. That is best seating when he plays Powderfinger! We will have a kayak & 2 floatees, and an anchor! @ Thrasher : Logistically it may be easier for us to meet up at White River in Auburn WA, since I will be on / in the river. I am aiming for close seating at White River. TW meetup! Good times are coming! Your brother Alan in Seattle

It would be great if people use Cash OR Trade to sell any extras for shows they are attending, and arrange to walk in the door together, especially the Ford. Then TM doesnt get fees twice for the same ticket. If someone can not attend a Ticketmaster show their face value exchange will be the only option, short of letting someone log into your account. There will most likely be no option for the Ford & SB, if you can not attend.

The economic impact is just too much for us at this particular moment, as we are moving. The timing is always a gig factor when you live paycheck to paycheck, so let’s hope for some recordings of this west coast tour. It’s going to be enough of a stretch just to purchase Archives Volume 3, let alone two concerts tickets and a ten hour round trip to Bend and back. I love Alan’s idea of a floaty though. Unfortunately we just can’t make it this time around. Peace 🙏

Were any other NYA members not able to do the Ford theater pre-sale? I'm bummed. Got no response from the Ford, wouldn't let me purchase, and I sent a message to NYA but they just said deal with the Ford. No basically, no luck 😢

It looks like GA lawn at the Berkeley Greek is not available for our presale, does this sound right?

If you see me in Bend in my black SF Giants cap and say any sentence with San Jose in it I will buy your next beer or other choice of drink. 1 drink per party. Up to 3 drinks total. This is your mission if you decide to accept it. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds.

@ All - good luck w/ pre-sales! @ wsanjose01 - nice offer. if we make it out west, we would see your offer and raise it. cheers. trying to work out something w/ Brother Alan on Seattle gig but not looking like we can switch around our plans. fyi, when Telluride was looking like August, we assumed August tour dates. So we made July plans. When Telluride dates got pulled last week, we again assumed no August dates, either and made August plans. oh, well, after 4 years of no live neil, such is life. "though our problems are meaningless that doesn't make them go away..."

@Lee I feel you. I also had probs with the Ford presale. For some reason, i had to logout and then log back in again before the code was recognized. By then, a friend had entered the queue and got decent seats, so can't complain. But it was frustrating and clearly glitchy.

@Knowledge Nomad did you actually get a presale code? Did they send you an email? I never got or heard anything. It was just a big dud, haha.

I just got a code from the venue for tomorrow's sale. It's probably straight to Live Nation I think.

Oh, yeah, i got the email from The Ford with the code a little before 9. I went into "waiting room" and was promptly entered into the queue at 10. Was in the low 700s in the queue and got promoted to enter code after about 10 minutes, and that's when it declined my code. Same thing was happening to a friend, so i figured it was systemic. But then he got in. So, i logged out and back in on The Ford site and then I was offered seats, but didn't use them because my friend already got better seats. Anyway, i hope you're able to get seats, maybe at The Greek, since that's bigger.

Bend is 8000 ppl ! Ford is 1200. That's a huge difference. Man o man . I'm going to try to get close . I'm prepared for 200 EA for something good.

Was all set for the July 2nd show (only show that works in my schedule), got the pre-sale code, then poof ... the date was gone ... cancelled my flight and waiting for the next leg ... i emailed Neil's team asking them to stream as many shows as possible on NYA ... if they do it lets start a TW chat so we can live chat while streaming the show ... Dan1

@ Thrasher : Sorry about your scheduling issues! I will sell my Steve Earle ticket so I can attend Neil Young at White River. “Down by the River, Neil Rocked my Bay-bee” Or was that just the river? We will find out in Bend, OR. “Look out mama, there’s a bald dude smokin’ on the river. With a big red sunburn and some fun and a man on the Ale.” Your bobbin’ Brother Alan in Seattle

I just read that Neil is adding another stop? Lake Tahoe? I read this on Brooklyn Vegan.

They released tickets for the Ford, all four nights are available now.

I have 2 tickets to tonight's (7-5-23) Ford Theater show (row F) but cannot go. I will sell at face value but I cannot thru Ticketmaster because they are not Ticketmaster tickets. Will have to meet in person in Westwood. Text me at 310-593-1965

Neil Young announces tour, playing songs he’s never played live before

It will be the singer-songwriter's first tour since 2019

Neil Young

Neil Young has announced a tour of the West Coast of the US, his first tour in four years, at which he will play songs rarely or never aired live before.

The solo acoustic tour will begin next month with 13 gigs currently announced, and as Rolling Stone reports, Young shared the news with paid subscribers of his Neil Young Archives website on a Zoom call this week (June 7).

On the call, he revealed that he will be playing around 15 songs that he has rarely or never played live before.

“I don’t want to come back and do the same songs again,” he said. “I’ll feel like I was on some sort of carnival ride. I’d rather be doing these others songs I haven’t done… I won’t have to compare how I’m doing ‘Heart of Gold’ to [how I played it in] 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020…”

He added: “They’re not new songs. They’re old songs. But I wake up with them in my head every morning.

“They are songs that apply to my life right now, and apply to everyone’s lives in this era that we’re in. Some of them were written 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago, but never really played live.”

See the dates below.

Earlier this year, Young made his live comeback at a march and rally in support of the United For Old Growth campaign , which is looking to stop the Canadian government from allowing logging companies from destroying old-growth forests.

Since then, he has reunited with Stephen Stills at a show in Los Angeles in April and performed at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday party alongside Snoop Dogg , Beck and more.

Neil Young’s last public performance these was in September 2019, when the veteran artist headlined a benefit concert in Lake Hughes, California alongside Norah Jones  and  Father John Misty .

Since  COVID-19  was declared a pandemic in early 2020, Young said  he wouldn’t tour until the virus was “beat”  and  called on promoters to cancel “super-spreader” gigs .

Last year, Young confirmed he would  not be performing at Farm Aid 2022  because “I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic.”

‘Tours are no longer fun’: Neil Young lambasts Ticketmaster for ripping off fans

Singer-songwriter says ‘the old days are gone’ amid wider consternation at ticketing company’s pricing policies

Neil Young has lambasted Ticketmaster over its concert ticketing policies, saying “concert tours are no longer fun” due to what he sees as exploitative pricing.

Young wrote on his website :

It’s over. The old days are gone. I get letters blaming me for $3,000 tickets for a benefit I am doing. That money does not go to me or the benefit. Artists have to worry about ripped off fans blaming them for Ticketmaster add-ons and scalpers. Concert tours are no longer fun. Concert tours not what they were.

He also shared a news article about the Cure, the band who have also been highly critical of Ticketmaster.

Frontman Robert Smith told fans he was as “sickened as you all are” over Ticketmaster’s fees for the Cure’s forthcoming US tour – the band had deliberately kept ticket prices low, but in some cases the fees levied by Ticketmaster exceeded the price of a concert ticket.

After questioning Ticketmaster over the fees, the band announced that the company “have agreed with us that many of the fees being charged are unduly high”. Ticketmaster offered a $10 or $5 refund on tickets, depending on the original price.

The Cure also criticised Ticketmaster over its “dynamic pricing” policy, introduced in the UK in 2022 and used by artists such as Harry Styles and Coldplay, which inflates the price of remaining tickets for in-demand concerts. The Cure opted out of dynamic pricing, calling it “a greedy scam – and all artists have the choice not to participate … if no artists participated, it would cease to exist”.

Bruce Springsteen was criticised for using dynamic pricing last year. He responded: “Ticket buying has gotten very confusing, not just for the fans but for the artists also … I tell my guys: go out and see what everybody else is doing. Let’s charge a little less. That’s generally the directions … This time I told them, hey, we’re 73 years old … I want to do what everybody else is doing, my peers.” He added: “I know it was unpopular with some fans, but if there’s any complaints on the way out, you can have your money back.”

Ticketmaster was criticised by US Senate members of both parties at a hearing in January, with Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar calling the company “a definition of monopoly” after its merger with concert promoter Live Nation in 2010. Louisiana senator John Kennedy characterised the company’s sale of tickets for Taylor Swift’s current Eras tour as “a debacle”: technical glitches and an extensive “presale” period meant that it was impossible for many fans to even have the option of buying tickets.

At 77, Young remains an outspoken critic of the contemporary music industry, as well as a proponent of green energy and other causes. In January 2022 , he removed his music from Spotify in protest over their hosting of Joe Rogan’s podcast, accusing Rogan and Spotify of “spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them”.

He released two albums with his band Crazy Horse in the space of a year last year, with Barn in December 2021 and World Record in November 2022.

Young performed live for the first time in more than three years in February, at a rally for forest preservation in British Columbia, performing Comes a Time and Heart of Gold.

In November, he said of future touring: “We’re trying to figure out how to do a self-sustaining, renewable tour. Everything that moves our vehicles around, the stage, the lights, the sound, everything that powers it is clean. Nothing dirty with us. We set it up; we do this everywhere we go. This is something that’s very important to me, if I’m ever going to go out again … and I’m not sure I want to, I’m still feeling that out.”

neil young tour 2023 rotterdam

Neil Young at the Roxy, Sept. 20, 2023

Neil Young has expanded his 2024 return to the stage with more dates for his tour with Crazy Horse. The spring “Love Earth” run of outdoor U.S. venues now includes Canadian dates for the summer that were announced on Feb. 29. The U.S. leg begins April 24 and represents his first tour with the band since before the pandemic, in 2019. A new, double album, Fu**in Up , is also coming. (At time of purchase, fans can opt in to receive a physical CD of the new album Fu##in’ Up included with their tickets for no additional cost.) Young finally returned to the stage on June 30, 2023, the first concert for the celebrated singer-songwriter since a solo theater run in 2018-19. Tickets for the tour are available at Ticketmaster . The general on-sale for the Canadian dates begin March 6-7.

Young, who turned 78 last Nov. 12, had made his first public performance in years last year on Feb. 25, 2023, at a rally in Victoria, Canada. He then appeared with his three-time bandmate Stephen Stills at the latter’s benefit concert and again at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday concerts. Both were in April. Following his 2023 tour, Young performed at the 2023 Farm Aid concert on Sept. 23. He also played a pair of concerts with Crazy Horse at The Roxy in West Hollywood to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the intimate venue where he was the first performer in 1973.

The new double album, coming for Record Store Day on April 20, includes live tracks recorded at those concerts. The clear vinyl 2-LP Limited Edition will include a litho print of the album cover art and will be available on Record Store Day and through The Greedy Hand Store via the Neil Young Archives website only, which is a unique arrangement with the Record Store Day organization to allow a release to be sold outside of participating RSD stores. On April 26, the black vinyl, compact disc and digital edition will be released.

Young and Crazy Horse have played together for over 50 years and the performances of these familiar songs, is a true highlight. As Young explains, “In the spirit it’s offered…made this for the Horse lovers. I can’t stop it. The horse is runnin’. What a ride we have. I don’t want to mess with the vibe. I am so happy to have this to share.”

The Crazy Horse lineup on Fu**in Up includes Billy Talbot (bass, vocal), Ralph Molina (drums, vocal), Micah Nelson (guitar, vocal, piano), Nils Lofgren (guitar, vocal, piano) and Young (guitar, vocal, harmonica). The album, coming on April 26, is also available for pre-order in the U.S. here .

Yes’ ‘Fragile’: A British Prog-Rock Classic

7 Comments so far

v2787

I know this will be an unpopular post, but I don’t really care. I just wanted to say that I wouldn’t walk across the street to see Neil Young perform for free. I can’t stand his whiny, screechy voice or his cacophonous guitar playing. (I respect his politics, however, and support that fully. I’m glad he uses his platform to support progressive causes.) I haven’t liked any music he’s done since the Buffalo Springfield days, and I see no reason to start now. If you like Neil Young, then great. Enjoy yourself. I’ll pay my money to see artists who can actually sing as opposed to sounding like a scalded cat.

Sean

Is he trying to save Earth by flying fuel-guzzling jets, which haul around all his gear and staff? He’s a hypocrite. He leaves more of a carbon footprint in one year than I would my entire life! Why doesn’t he stay put in Canada and have people watch online? He thinks he knows better than us, but he is wrong.

Mr. Soul

Dear V2787, You are entitled to your opinion but know this. No one really cares about your thoughts on Neil Young, and you will not be missed at his concerts. I am sure there are artists that you prefer to listen to that others do not like. It’s a free country, so just keep on Rocking in The Free World.

Mr. Soul, Evidently you do care about his opinion, otherwise you would not have commented on it. Try not to use too many fossil fuels getting to and from the concert.

JFK

Problem solved…..DON’T GO !!! Those of us who love Neil won’t miss you one bit……

Rick

OMG Where to start? I’m a 70 year old life long musician and Neil Young is my all time favorite artist. Whatever you think of his voice, he is widely considered one of the best song writers of all time. Even if you disagree w/ that, no one can argue that he is one of the most prolific song writers of all time. And just so you know. Neil Young is a composer and performer. (Not a political pundit). People don’t go to see Neil Young because of his politics, although many agree w/ them. They go because he is their favorite artist also. Who do you like to see in concert? Or do you just go to political gatherings?

Carolina

I’ve always loved Neil Young, I wouldn’t miss this for anything.

Intimate, Pared Down Performance Takes us on an Enjoyable Ride Through Some Rarely Heard Songs

neil young tour 2023 rotterdam

I’m always amazed at how much expectations can influence your enjoyment of an event.

Moments before Neil Young took the stage at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Friday, July 7, I read a report from his show a few nights before at the Ford Theatre in L.A. that said his setlist was full of unrecognizable songs and “ultra-rarities.” Given that the 77-year-old singer-songwriter has 45 studio albums to his credit — on top of key contributions to multiple bands, including Crazy Horse; Buffalo Springfield; and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young — it’s no surprise that not everyone in the audience got to hear their favorite songs.

I was fine with that, having gone into the concert with few expectations, just a willingness to go along for the (train) ride with a living legend. Neil Young’s “Coastal Tour,” as it was named, featured a train on the poster, a choo choo going round a fireplace onstage, and he even wore a conductor’s style cap — so that old school, stop-and-smell-the-roses mode of transportation was an apt metaphor for this particular musical journey.

neil young tour 2023 rotterdam

Instead of “Rockin’ in the Free World,” it was more of a soulful serenade, an intimate, stripped down performance by an amazing musician, now an “Old Man” whose distinctive voice hasn’t lost a beat. Opening with an acoustic version of “I’m the Ocean” — quite a different sound than the Pearl Jam jam of a few years ago — Young made it clear from the get-go that this was going to be a quieter kind of night.

“Homefires” was up next, followed by “Burned,” a Buffalo Springfield song which Young said was the first one he recorded when he got down to Hollywood. “I had never been in a studio that was real before,” he said of the 1966 tune. Another Buffalo Springfield oldie, “On the Way Home,” was next, then Young — who had zero accompaniment beyond his own harmonica — made his way from the guitar to the piano for “If You Got Love,” to a different piano for “A Dream That Can Last,” and yet a third piano for “My Heart.”

And so it went, through “Song X” (with the lyrics “Hey ho, away we go. We’re on the road to never.”), “Prime of Life,” and the only song of the night with another musician onstage — Bob Rice on piano for “When I Hold You In My Arms” — featuring the poignant lyrics, “Well the older generation they got something to say, But they better say it fast or get outta the way.”

Some of the older generation was a little grumpy by that point, with some yelling from the audience to play this or that, or play something happy. Young mostly ignored the peanut gallery, although he did call out one guy for staring at his cell phone the whole time and called another one “an asshole” for some comment I missed.

Mostly Neil Young just did what he wanted, played what he wanted, and sounded pretty great (although I too could have used a little more tempo variation).

He was once again a solo act for “Mr. Soul,” “Mother Earth,” “Ohio,” “Days That Used To Be,” “Don’t Forget Love,” and what was clearly the most beloved song of the night, “Heart of Gold.” That 1972 song was, believe it or not, Young’s only No. 1 hit in the U.S. — so far. Given Young’s enduring songwriting skill, distinct voice, prolific output, and impressive musicianship, I’m not quite ready to rule another one out.

Neil Young :: Even More Honey Slides

Will the well ever run dry when it comes Neil Young live jams and rarities? God, I hope not. In recent years, Young has begun sporadically posting a selection of complete live gigs on his Archives site, spanning the from the late 1960s to the late 2010s. It’s been a welcome feast for Neil fanatics. For this mix, the third installation of our Honey Slides series, we’ve grabbed a few highlights (as well as a choice Barn jam) for your enjoyment. Stretching from 1976 to 2010, it’s all electric and leans heavily towards the darker, grittier side of Young’s material. Plenty of Crazy Horse, of course, but also the Stray Gators, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, the International Harvesters and more. Slide on into this one. | t wilcox
