Update, December 23: In light of the surge of cases, many Sydney venues are cancelling NYE events. Call ahead of your visit to confirm if celebrations are taking place as planned.

In Sydney, ringing in the new year is a go-big-or-stay-home affair. But this year, the celebrations will be even bigger, we suspect. We’ve spent a quarter of the year indoors, and if you're anything like us, you've got some catching up to do when it comes to big nights out. So, why not spend your last hoorah of the year in the company of Sydney's greatest icons, the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, on a New Year's cruise?

We’ve curated a list of the best you can book right now to secure the well-earned fun you and your mates deserve. Most of the cruise experiences come inclusive of food and drink, so all you need to worry about is having a damn good time.

Starship Sydney

Behold Australia’s largest glass boat, Starship Sydney. Spend your whole NYE on board, indulging in an all-inclusive evening of canapes, cocktails, Australian beers and premium wines, and three entertainment levels, which includes two decks of DJs. Starship Sydney offers an excellent view of the midnight fireworks display, departing from King Street Wharf at 7.30pm and returning at 1am. Tickets are on sale now from $750 per person.   

Harbourside Cruises

All aboard the Harbour Spirit, a luxury catamaran that you can hop on for NYE this year. Equipped with gorgeous contemporary interiors and two spacious decks, this 5.5 hour Sydney Harbour party cruise serves up epic views of the fireworks from inside and outside the boat. For $550 per person, enjoy bottomless beer, wine, and soft drink, constant service of appetisers and canapes, and non-stop party bangers on the dancefloor. Departs from Pyrmont at 7:15 pm and returns at 1 am.  

Yeah Buoy NYE Boat Party

A three-level boat party with 360-degree unobstructed views of the fireworks? We’re 1000% in. Departing from Port Jackson at 5.30pm, this 7.5hr all-inclusive cruise is the ultimate NYE treat. Live DJs all night, live entertainment, karaoke bar, a luxury seafood buffet, cocktail bar, grazing tables, drink service, and even casino table – you can’t really go wrong. Get your boogie on at Yeah Buoy. Tickets start from $600 per person.  

Showboat Art Deco New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruise

If you’re looking for something a little fancier, look no further than this all-inclusive cruise on the luxurious Sydney Showboat II. Guests can expect to take up the Azure Deck, which is a private third-level area hosting only 60 people (max comfort guaranteed). A deluxe 5-course seated dinner will be served, with premium beverages available for the entire night, alongside a DJ and dancing—the way we all want to enter the new year, right? Tickets are $850 per person.

Fast Ferry Cruises

NYE doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. Which, most of the time it does. If you want to jump on a New Year’s Eve cruise without spending more than a few hundred, choose Fast Ferry Cruises. Starting at $200 per person, these shorter 2.5hr cruises are BYO food and drinks and run for either the 9 pm or midnight fireworks, departing from Manly, Rose Bay, or Darling Harbour.  

Le Bleu 

If you’re an avid fan of electronic dance music and are ready to spend NYE with banging tunes and boogies, you can’t go past a ride on Le Bleu. The night features an exclusive DJ set from BINARY and Alvin Chan and the best possible views of the fireworks, which means you’ll be starting 2022 off with a big bang (and not just ‘cos of the fireworks). There’ll be a Belvedere Vodka on arrival, sushi platters to munch on during the night, and of course a glass of Moet Chandon champagne at midnight. Tickets are $500 plus a small booking fee.  

Bella Vista New Year’s Eve Cruise

Welcome in the new year aboard a luxury glass vessel with 3m high wraparound windows, giving you a prime position for the midnight fireworks. With spacious decks at the front and back and top of the boat, there’ll be plenty of room for all the activities on this all-inclusive 5.5hr cruise. Not to mention delicious canapes, a standing buffet menu and desserts, and a state of the art sound system to have you dancing into 2022. Tickets are $799 per person, but it’s all about the experience this NYE.   

Sydney 2000 Cruise

This NYE is all about making up for the lost time. And sometimes, doing that over a decadent dinner is the best way to do that. Cruise into 2022 onboard the Sydney 2000, a vessel that has been floating in the exclusion zone for over 20 years. This means it won’t be a problem getting an incredible view of the midnight fireworks. With prices starting at $799 per person, you can choose from three luxurious decks, each with all-inclusive food, premium drinks, and live entertainment. The cruise departs from King Street Wharf at 7.30pm and returns at 1am.

Rocket Cruise

Looking for a more affordable cruise option but want to stay on the boat for more than a couple of hours? Well then, Rocket Cruise has your NYE sorted. 5.5 hours of relaxed cruising, indoor and outdoor ferry seating, BYO drinks and picnic, and positioned in a viewing area outside of the exclusion zone for the fireworks display. All for $499 per person, departing from King Street Wharf at 7.30 pm and returning at 1 am.  

Aussie Magic New Year’s Eve Cruise

Step into the new year in style on board Aussie Magic, a stylish 26-metre catamaran with a super spacious outdoor entertaining deck. Catch jaw-dropping views of the midnight fireworks after enjoying a night of cocktail style dining—canapes, buffet, free-flowing drinks, which are all included in the $650 per person price. But for 5.5 hours of cruising around the harbour with your nearest and dearest, it’s a big treat yourself kind of night every Sydneysider should experience at least once. Aussie Magic departs from Star City Casino Wharf at 7.30pm and returns around 1am.  

My Way New Year’s Eve Cruise

Leave 2021 behind your way. The newly refurbished My Way vessel is ready for NYE, and so are we. Revel under the sparkling city lights as the sun goes down and enjoy a picturesque vista of the midnight fireworks from inside the exclusion zone, all the while enjoying the all-inclusive perks of a good NYE cruise: chef’s selection of canapes, buffet menu, music, and more. The two dining rooms are fully air-conditioned too, so the humidity won’t be a problem at all. There’s limited seating aboard My Way – with only 100 seats – so you’ll want to get in quick to secure a spot on a less-crowded cruise.

Tall Ship Dinner Cruise

Most NYE cruises around Sydney are on modernised boats. But why not take a step on the traditional sailing boat side this New Year’s? Choose between three tall ships for an unforgettable dinner cruise on the harbour, all offering front-row views of the fireworks. Dine on fresh seafood, gourmet barbecue, and more, accompanied by bottomless wine, beer, soft drinks, and live music during the 5.5-hour cruise. Prices start at $550 per person, which is a great deal for an all-inclusive NYE cruise.

Vagabond Spirit NYE

Jump aboard one of the newer vessels in Sydney Harbour to celebrate the new year in all-inclusive style. • NEW YEAR'S EVE CRUISE BOOKINGS CAN BE CANCELLED UPTO 31 OCTOBER FOR A FULL REFUND. For clarity, a booking for New Year’s Eve cruise on 31st December can be cancelled up to 23:59 AEST on 31 October.
• All cancellation requests must be sent via email to [email protected]. Please forward us the E-ticket for a faster refund process. Once we have received your request, we will refund the ticket price paid in full to the exact credit card or payment method used for the booking. No cancellation charges apply for bookings cancelled prior to 31 October. All cancellation requests received between 1st November and 30th November prior to departure will incur a 40% cancellation fee. All cancellation requests received between 1st December and 15th December will incur a 60% cancellation fee. No show passengers, a confirmed passenger who fails to board a vessel prior to departure, will receive no refund irrespective of reasoning, and a no-show fee of 100% will apply. All cancellation requests received within 15 days prior to the cruise date are 100% non-refundable, irrespective of the cancellation reason.
• Guests who booked via online travel agents, or any other travel distribution partner, are advised to contact their booking provider for any cancellation or amendment request.

NEW YEARS EVE FIREWORKS DISPLAY

• Since 1999, our guests have always enjoyed prime views of the fireworks display from the exclusion zone assigned for cruise boats by NSW Roads and Maritime. Your Captain will make every effort to position the vessel for optimum viewing of the fireworks display. The exact location of the vessel cannot be guaranteed due to the heavy traffic and congestion on the harbour or due to any prevailing wind conditions. 
• Since 1999, the annual Sydney fireworks display has been organised by the City of Sydney with no disruption. By purchasing this ticket, you acknowledge that if the fireworks are cancelled for any unforeseen reason, there will be no partial or full refund offered by Australian Cruise Group

SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

• All of our special event cruises are usually in high demand and fully booked prior to cruise date. The seating arrangements on board various cruises are planned by our Cruise Directors well in advance. If you have any special requests to be seated next to a particular group/friends booked on the same cruise, please advise us 7 days prior to cruise date
• All New Years Eve cruises are generally fully booked. We are unable to accommodate requests for change of seating onboard as all the seating plans are finalised 72 hours prior to the cruise. 

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL

• We strictly adhere to Responsible Service of Alcohol Guidelines. Intoxicated passengers will be removed from the vessel by the Captain, and if required with the assistance of water police. You are not allowed to carry any alcohol or illicit drugs on board.
• All guests must be over the age of 18 years in order to have alcoholic beverages under NSW regulations – guests under the age of 18 years will be served soft drinks and juices only
• Strictly no BYO food or beverages
• Beverage service (a selection of wine and soft drinks) commences at the time of boarding and ceases 15 minutes prior to the end of the cruise
• Unfortunately we cannot accommodate requests for split bills onboard. Each table will be presented with 1 bill for all additional onboard purchases. Credit card payments are preferred.

The staff were phenomenal. So happy and positive and wanting to make our New Year celebration memorable. The food was exceptional. We had three generations of family last night and every one of us had the time of our lives. I chose you because of the glass ‘Clearview’ access to the NYE fireworks as it was the trip of a lifetime but not what I could take our elderly parents outside for if inclement weather. Your table seating ensured a view regardless of the conditions. Entire trip flawless.

Questions about NYE cruises in Sydney fill travel forums and our inbox every year. Cruises go on sale earlier than all the other NYE events and usually starts filling up mid October. It is recommended to get in early for the best prices and range of options.

I have personally attended the NYE Fireworks show in Sydney over 20 times. I have watched from a boat, the Opera House, The Botanic Gardens, a harbour island and Mrs Macquaries Point. Among my most memorable experiences have been the times out on the water but there is a huge range in quality of NYE Harbour cruises so today I want to share some tips to help you make a good decision.

Choose an accessible pickup and drop-off spot for your NYE Cruise

The first thing to consider is where you will join the cruise. If it’s departing from an odd location or even one that is hard to get to from home, it becomes more trouble than it’s worth. If you can, choose a wharf that is near public transport, or parking if you have a designated driver. Let’s face it; no one is in the mood to walk kilometres at the end of a long night of partying.

Note: New Year’s Eve sees lots of city streets closed and your usual parking spots or transport routes may not be available, so plan ahead.

A New Year’s Eve cruise in Sydney Is a big-ticket item. These tips on finding a good NYE cruise will help make sure you pick a quality cruise, because when it comes to Sydney Harbour Cruises ON NYE, it’s not always smooth sailing.

Make sure you know who the operator is.

Boats of all sizes are available for charter on Sydney Harbour so it’s important to make sure the operator you pay for your cruise is reputable. There have been occasions in the past when people have handed over large sums on money only to find no boat turns up on NYE.

Check out the company selling the tickets, look at Google reviews, ask in our group or stick to buying from an OTA like Australian owned and operated Travello (our preferred partner), Get your Guide or Viator.

Decide if you want a BYO cruise or a fully catered option?

New Year’s Eve cruises, whether ticketed or through a private charter, fall into one of two categories; Bring Your Own and catered. If your cruise is catered, then make sure you know exactly what is and is not included.

Catered cruises are usually one of three types: canape and finger food, buffet or seated menu. Many operators are happy to work with your specific dietary requirements, so reach out directly and ask if you have any special needs.

Along with the different food menus are different drink options. Some offer regular bars where you buy what you would like to consume. More often though, some sort of drinks package is included. Everything from the premium packages with imported beers and bubbles to the basic local beers, house wine and spirits.

If you choose a chartered boat rather than one of the packages on offer by cruise operators, you are more likely to find they offer a BYO option. The major benefit of this option is that you can take along exactly what you want to drink, and you can save if you are not much of a drinker.

If you go with the BYO option, double check that there are no corkage fees, that you can bring your esky to keep the drinks at perfect temperature or that they have cooling on offer onboard.

Make sure the boat has secured a good position for the fireworks show!

Seems like a simple decision, but it’s not. Many of the less expensive boats don’t exactly have stellar positions assigned to them. If your boat is positioned inside the exclusion zone, you will be in the thick of the action with amazing views.

If your cruise is part of the Harbour of Light Parade, chances are it will have a prime position when the clock strikes 12, but if not, double-check with the operator.

There are two things you should check:

• They assigned larger boats a general vicinity to anchor in for the show. Smaller charters rely on the skill and experience of the captain to find the best spot.
• Also, consider the vessel itself. There is often limited space on the outside decks; some boats don’t even have an outdoor area, so you will watch the fireworks from behind glass. Sure, it might be cheaper, but is this what you want?

How much do new years eve cruises in Sydney cost?

If you want to be on the water under the fireworks, then you are looking at somewhere between $399 and A$1500 per person for a food and drink package.

All the leading tour operators offer cruises on Sydney Harbour on New Year’s Eve with some of the big-name boats charging up to A$1500 per person. For that, you get a 6-hour cruise with a five-course meal and drinks. This is a great way to experience Sydney on NYE if you can afford it. Just do your homework and make sure you chose a vessel that is suited to your musical/food tastes. 20 something’s may not like to listen to a 60’s band all night 😉 just like 50+ might not like 5 hours of dance music. At about 9.20pm after the first round of fireworks, many of the vessels on the water turn on their lights and parade up and down the harbour until the midnight fireworks.

Harbour of Lights Parade

Every year Sydney Harbour is brought to life not just by the fireworks but also by the Harbour of Lights Parade, an annual pilgrimage of boats that make their way down Sydney Harbour. This is a fantastic experience, but whether you are in, it affects where and how soon you anchor. The boats that take part in this parade tend to get the best anchor spots.

There has not been much talk of the Harbour of Lights parade this year. I have not seen a list of confirmed vessels however it will include most of the big operators.

Check with your cruise operator to see if they have any boats taking part in this parade, as I highly recommend it, not just because you get an excellent anchor spot but because it truly is a breathtaking experience.

Another way of ensuring you will have a good vantage point is to choose a boat that advertises they will be positioned in the exclusion zone.

New Year’s Eve Cruise 2023-24

So now on to the boats I would consider if I was buying New Year’s Eve tickets this year.

NYE on a Tall Ship

For a completely different night, spend a night on a boat of a similar size to the ships of the First Fleet.

One company I have cruised with (but not on NYE) and loved is Sydney Harbour Tall Ships. They have two Tall Ships that are positioned in the exclusion zone, meaning you have an excellent view of all the fireworks action. You can see the ships’ locations, in Circular Quay between the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge in the photo below.

The Southern Swan and the Soren Larsen provide a fantastic experience. Plenty of deck space, a great atmosphere with lots of music.

Your ticket includes:

• Delicious canapes & finger food
• All bubbly, wines, beers, soft drinks, juices & water
• A live band playing popular music & requests

The tall ships, however, are sadly not wheelchair accessible, nor are they suitable for younger children.

The Jackson

The newest luxury vessel on Sydney Harbour, the Jackson offers elegant comfort and guarantees a top-notch experience on NYE.

On offer is a 7 course meal, including a 5 course degustation and a midnight supper. The 6.5-Hour All-Inclusive Platinum Beverage Package features free flowing Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label NV, signature cocktails and top shelf spirits, craft beer and a selection of premium wines.

Starship Sydney

Ring in the New Year on Starship Sydney ! Enjoy all-inclusive food, drinks, and entertainment with a view of the 9pm and midnight fireworks. Dance to the tunes of a well-known Sydney Party Band and DJ.

Starship Sydney features three levels of unobstructed views, two-metre high glass windows, and two open deck areas for a stylish New Year celebration.

This 5-hour cruise which departs from King Street Wharf will feature Canapé and Gourmet Food Stations, a beer and wine package, and is only suitable for adults 18+.

Starship Sydney will have a prime viewing spot for Sydney Harbour NYE fireworks.

Captain Cook Cruises

Captain Cook is one of the most experienced cruise operators on Sydney Harbour with two vessels out this year. This is a lovely way to see in the New Year and any night on Sydney Harbour is a good night in our book.

Where Captain Cook excels is in their food offerings. We have dined on their boats both as a guest and as paying customers in the last couple of years and have been impressed by what they offer.

Here are a few samples from meals we have had on the Sydney 2000 vessel.

NYE Sky Deck Dinner – The top deck of the MV Sydney has 6-course degustation menu paired with Penfold’s premium wines including a 75ml glass of world-famous Penfolds Grange. You will celebrate in style with bottomless Penfolds Rose Champagne (France) & premium spirits and a midnight celebration cocktail.

There will be live music and access to the top roof deck. Tickets are sold out for 2023

NYE Club Deck Dinner – The middle deck on the MV Sydney has a 5-course dinner including canapes at midnight. Bottomless French Champagne and premium drinks included. You will be entertained with live music and there is a glass of Champagne at midnight. Tickets on sale now $1190pp. – Tickets are sold out for 2023 (10/10/23)

Ocean Deck – This is the entry-level of the boat and is the best choice for those with limited mobility. You have fantastic harbour views, with lounge-style seating and no need to climb the stairs. The menu on this level will offer Mezze Platter for two, a decadent dessert platter of elegant petit fours, truffles and choc dipped strawberries and Roving Canapes at midnight. Bottomless Cocktails and a selection of premium beverages will be offered all night.

There are dozens more operators but these are the key companies who have experience and a history of good service. We do not actively recommend other operators as many charter ships for the night so we have no idea who is actually operating the event and if you will get value for money. Please do due dilegence before you book.

Hi, I am wondering if there is: 1) Any cruise for NYE that plays more house music not pop hits? 2) Any cruise where no children are allowed? 3) Any cruise where there is an option to pay for “no alcoholic beverages included” please? My hubby and I do not drink alcohol and it seems a waste to pay such money that includes alcohol when we don’t drink

Booking this cruise will give you access to restricted parts of the city and then Sydney Harbour. With a relaxed start we will have the freedom of moving around the harbour lit up with our NYE light rope to view other display vessels and of course pass by the icons that we have so missed being close to for many months. The  Soren Larsen ,  Southern Swan  and  Coral Trekker  are authentic, traditional tall ships and Swan has been part of Sydney Harbour’s New Year’s Eve celebrations for over thirty years.

Coral Trekker, “Trekker” is our smallest tall ship with a capacity of 36 passengers plus crew so be ready for an intimate experience. With a licensed bar, canapé style food and live musicians – you are really part of the evening on the harbour. Check with our office if you have mobility issues as with the toilets (heads) below decks it might not be suitable for everybody.

Southern Swan and Soren Larsen have larger capacities of 100 and 120 respectively. Each ship oozes character as does Trekker but being larger have room for a live band each, keeping it an exciting atmosphere.

Our ships have been regular ‘Harbour of Light vessels’ and will be in an exclusion zone for the midnight fireworks ensuring we get a good view of the show.

Note: Due to safety parameters out of our control in regard to the disarming of the fireworks barges and traffic clearance given thereafter, our vessels will endeavor to disembark passengers as efficiently as possible once clearance is given by the authorities. Disembarking usually occurs around 1:30am.

• Our boats are positioned in the exclusion zone for prime viewing. Since 1999 the annual Sydney Harbour New Years Eve firework display has been organised by the City of Sydney with no disruption. By purchasing a ticket with Sydney Harbour Tallships, you acknowledge that if the fire work display is cancelled for any unforeseen reason, there will be no partial or full refund by Sydney Harbour Tallships.

Andy.A really great way to see all the sights of Sydney Harbour, including some very interesting buildings complete with informative commentary. Awesome Sunset Cruise

What a great afternoon/evening. Keegan (the M.C.) was great as were the rest of the crew. Really friendly & helpful AND the “deck girls” – fearless. (climbing up the rigging & setting the sails) Sydney harbour was as always – magnificent. Food was great as were the people we met on board. The mast climb is an ABSOLUTE MUST and the views of Sydney Harbour from the Crows Nest are out of this world. Hardest part is getting the world to hold still whilst you try to take pictures up the mast. !!! Summary…. MUST DO.

Mast Climb Was Amazing!

Coming from Sydney I was not sure I would enjoy. How wrong can you be! It was great, Sydney turned on a gorgeous day and I would highly recommend the mast climb, it was a little hard work for us over 50’s but I got there in the finish.

A Must-do Experience

I have lived in Sydney all my life, but to see the city skyline at sunset & lit up at night from out in the harbour towards Watsons Bay was a new experience. It was fantastic, must-do experience!

I thought this trip was excellent with all the activities available, when it is over you want more! An awesome day on the harbour.

I can’t say enough for this activity it was FANTASTIC! As well as laser clay shooting they ran mast climbing where two people could climb the mast of the sip and hang out in the wind. Loved the Southern Swan

We absolutely loved our time aboard the Southern Swan. Not only did it perfectly fit our theme (pirates, of course), but the crew went out of their way to really make sure we had a great time. Having done a few harbour cruises as part of team building and corporate exercises, this is definitely one that sticks out the most in my mind. Enjoyable Time on the Water

Our staff had a lovely time out on the ship and quite a number of them climbed the mast as well. Despite slightly cold weather, it was really enjoyable time on the water. Many thanks to you and your team for making the last part of our conference so special.

Perfect way to enjoy Sydney Harbour

We took a 2.5h sunset cruise on the Soren Larsen for a large group from work.Sydney harbour is a real natural wonder and seeing it from a beautiful period boat was spectacular.The ship itself was wonderful (solid oak, real sails and rigging etc.) and had actually made the voyage from Denmark to Sydney. Plus, you could climb up it :-)The staff were knowledgable, entertaining and couldn’t have done more to look after us. Personally I really enjoyed learning about the history of the boat and it’s voyage around the world to reach Sydney.We also enjoyed food and drinks on board which were pretty varied and very good.Highlights of the trip were mast climbing, cruising back from shark island using wind power only and watching the sun go down to be replaced by the Vivid lights.Overall this was a great team event for us and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

We spent the night prior to our flight back to the USA the next day. They no longer operate a shuttle but there is a Sydney Super Shuttle service that stops at the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable and a really nice breakfast is included. The hotel does not have a restaurant or bar but they do have light snacks and bottled beer and wine in the reception area. • Keith C 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Take the 18.00 sailing for great photo ops of the bridge and opera house, both in daylight at the start and lit up at dusk at th You catch the boat from a pontoon half way along the opera house side of Circular quay. We did the 18.00 sailing, which at this time of year has the added bonus that on the earlier part of the trip you have daylight for your views, and at the end you see everything lit up, which looks really good. The boat has an open top deck and enclosed lower deck. There is free tea/coffee/hot chocolate from a machine and reasonably priced soft and alcoholic drinks available too. The harbour is very large and there is a constant stream of various ferries dodging each other around Circular quay, which is interesting to see. This cruise doesn't go far from the bridge, but there is plenty of time for Ron's many facts and figures relating to the area and many opportunities for photos of the bridge (you sail under it) and opera house, the stars of the show. The directions they gave us were very vague and not exact, so we walked all over the pier, looking for the check-in spot. Someone finally directed us to their little table. 2. We were told to meet by 11:45 for our noon boat ride. We waited in line until 12:30 in the intense heat and sun with no shade. We kept asking when we'd leave and they gave us no information. We paid for a two hour fifteen minute boat ride and got a one hour forty-five minute excursion. This was very disappointing. Either lower the price or stick to the itinerary. 3. Not all of the windows on the boat opened and it was very hot. People were literally sitting on top of each other to eat lunch. They should not sell that many tickets for a lunch cruise. 4. The food was barely edible. The chicken was so dry. Options were limited. 5. The docent's microphone worked on and off, as did the speakers. So we missed most of what he was saying about the spectacular architecture in Sydney Harbor. This was very, very disappointing. We paid for a guided tour and barely heard the guide. Sydney at its festive best. Then aboard our small ship cruise , discover wilderness on the doorstep of Australia’s largest city and encounter the fascinating river communities of the Hawkesbury River.

New Year's Eve

Visit Sydney’s famed Taronga Zoo or take-off in the helicopter for a scenic flight over the harbour. The adventure-boats will tour past Bradleys Head, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, Kirribilli House and onto Woolloomooloo. Hop-off to walk through the Botanical Gardens before taking-in the sights at Rushcutters Bay and Elizabeth Bay. Travel onto Rose Bay and take a stroll up to The Gap and the Hornsby Lighthouse. Then return to the TRUE NORTH and one of Sydney’s best vantages to witness the Harbour Bridge fireworks display – Happy New Year!

Enjoy breakfast in the beautiful surrounds of Pittwater. Morning activities will include a walk to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, perhaps a little beachcombing and, a scenic voyage past the Pittwater yacht clubs before the TRUE NORTH enters the tranquil waters of the Hawkesbury River. There may also be a chance to walk from Longnose Point to Flint and Steel Bay through the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park – Australia’s second oldest national park.

A helicopter flight to the Hunter Valley and a wine tasting at our feature winery is sure to be a highlight!

Jerusalem Bay

Wake up to the shrill of the Jerusalem Bay cicadas and then join our local guide as we explore beautiful Cowen Creek. Stand in the very spot the Constitution of Australia was written and see the rock art of those who came before! Enjoy a refreshing swim at one of the Creek’s many sheltered beaches and rinse-off under a waterfall! Whilst you are enjoying lunch, the TRUE NORTH will make its way to Middle Harbour before slipping through the narrow channel at Spit Bridge and into delightful Bantry Bay. As the sun starts to set over mangrove lined waters, join an infamous TRUE NORTH ‘raft-up’ and then it’s back on-board for another highlight – dance the night away with our live band!

Return to Sydney Harbour

The TRUE NORTH will return to Sydney Harbour for an early morning disembarkation.

True North Sails into 30 Years

True North Adventure Cruises - has sailed into 30 years of continuous operations. The now revered adventure-cruise operator first cruised Western Australia’s remote Kimberley coast during 1987 when founding director Craig Howson commenced fishing type charters along a coastline that was and still is largely inaccessible from land.

Stories about the ladies who out-fish the boys are pretty common, humorous equipment failures also come to note on a regular basis, then there are the ‘birthday fish’, the ‘monster fish’ and of course, the ones that got away! West Australian artist Jacob 'Shakey' Butler joined the TRUE NORTH earlier this season and discovered the Kimberley's raw beauty. As the artist in residence, Jacob set up his canvas on remote beaches, beside freshwater billabongs and on-deck surrounded by pindan-coloured gorges. Catriona Rowntree Talks With Craig Howson

A commonly asked question is “When is the best time to see the Kimberley?” And the answer is “The Kimberley is always at its best!” However certain times of the year can make it easier to satisfy particular interest. For example, if you would like to see plenty of whale action then departures in August and September are definitely for you! From late July humpback and southern right whales reach the Kimberley after swimming-up the west coast to reach breeding grounds in the north and it’s very common for guests to get great views of whales breaching and basking on the surface.
